Very friendly service (if you don't like the cozy atmosphere take it down to Starbucks, you heathen!) I sat in this hanging chair, took my shoes off, and cuddled up with a book and two different coffees. The charcoal one was amazing, so was the other one (I wanna say the Bombay?) You owe it to yourself to get a coffee here and sit in this chair.

Despite being in a strip mall, this spot does a decent job of having a neighborhood feel. Felt like customers were regulars. Service is nice. Sandwiches and coffee come out quickly. I tried the charcoal coffee, which was yummy, and the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant. The sandwich seemed like something I would make at home. Tasted fine, but just not impressive "restaurant quality." I was disappointed that they didn't have any salads, soups or Perrier on the menu.

Used Yelp to find a coffee shop in Midlo area so tried Coal Mine based on other reviews. The shop is cute and has ample seating. We were greeted by a friendly staff right away. I had the egg wrap with tomato which was very bland. More wrap than egg which was disappointing. My latte was ok. Husband had the Old Buckingham which was also ok. Nice that they offer lots of options for vegetarian and milk alternatives.

Parking sure was easy to find for Coal Mine Coffee and Sweets! We pulled right up to the front door and parked in a marked spot, for patrons only. As soon as we entered, the owner greeted us warmly and quickly from the counter. She seated us in a booth, tucked away from the front door. On the way in, we noticed bagged coffees and tumblers for sale. It's a cozy little cafe, with an espresso machine and kitchen to the left of the restaurant. My husband is the one with a good eye. When he was cruising the menu, he noticed that they served a chocolate chip muffin. He remembered how much I said I loved those back in college, so my mind was set! Our server was the cafe owner, and she was friendly and took the time to discuss the menu with us. We appreciated her attentiveness. She walked us through the menu. When she served my chocolate chip muffin, I was over the moon. Not only did it look the way I had hoped, it was warmed through and through! Melted chocolate chip goodness, here I come. My husband's brownie also boasted chocolate chips. It did not disappoint in that category. This brownie had a dense, rich texture, almost like a flourless cake. As for our beverages, a large home brewed sweet tea was my husband's pick. How refreshing it was! Not to overpower the chocolate muffin, I opted for a vanilla latte. It was a smooth, creamy latte and perfect for an afternoon inside. We enjoyed our trip to Coal Mine Coffee & Sweets! We'd like to go back and try something from the breakfast or lunch menu. We know we'll get a great parking spot!

Love, love LOVE this place and the wonderful owners, Paul and Jenny. Delicious food and coffee. Sadly no pictures of the food, except my dessert, because we inhaled it. Definitely visit this place. Also amazing to find pork roll/Taylor ham outside New Jersey.

So happy that I found this place again!! They have moved locations. Still good coffee, house roasted, and food. Breakfast and lunch available as well as coffee accompaniments

My wife and I decided to try a coffee shop this morning... and regretted it. Definitely should've just gotten Starbucks. This place is in an identity crisis. It seems to be stuck between wanting to be a coffee shop and wanting to be a sit down restaurant. If they focused on one thing I think it may be better. Don't come in and get anything special is what we learned. I would just get their drip coffee and a chocolate croissant or danish if I do come back.

Im extremely disappointed in this place. It was my first and last time dining here. Upon walking in my friend almost almost fell because she tripped on a leg of a giant chair they have randomly sitting in the walking in area. The breakfast sandwich was fine. I got a pumpkin spice latte that was the color of milk, and had no taste at all. The coffee is also $6.75, and an extra .75 cents for less ice. Avoid this place!!!! I also posted a review on their Facebook and they immediately blocked me.

Our first visit to the new Coal Mine Coffee Cafe'. Lunch was great! Grilled cheese and tomato with homemade chips were amazing! The fudge was so creamy and fresh! Extremely friendly employees and also the owners!!

Just a diner. Good drip coffee and breakfast. I'm sure the regulars love the place. As a first timer not sure I would drive back to Midlothian just to eat there. The mini mouse mug was a cup addition.

    "The Grove" breakfast sandwich.

First time visit and pleasantly surprised. Small family owned coffee shop with breakfast and lunch served all day. Drinks and food were fantastic, friendly service. Will certainly return!

Great bagels good coffee and more. You can also get a full breakfast if a bagel isn't enough.

Substandard espresso, lacked quality and not worth the price. Maybe the food is better but it is not a legitimate coffee shop.

My favorites are the sourdough cinnamon roll, hand pockets, biyani, and croissant. Nice rotation of deserts, so the experience is different with each visit. I recently tried one of their sandwiches for the first time - The Shirley, which was pleasant - flavorful, light, and summer friendly only to learn that Shirley got the boot with the creation of their new menu! They make a beautiful sourdough country loaf that is fantastic to bring home, slice in 1/2" slices with a sharp bread knife, put in a gallon freezer bag, and freeze for amazing sandwiches and treats during the week. Try a Spanish pan con tomate with one of these slices slightly toasted, with a rub of garlic, salt, and good e.v. olive oil, and you'll be happy as a clam. (What does that even mean?) Or use said previously frozen slices as a dessert treat with your sleepy time tea, toasted with butter and good local raw honey drizzled on it. Bathrooms are very clean. Next up, I will go early to sit down and eat there, trying one of the incredible looking breakfast sandwiches and/or salads that folks seem elated to be eating.
