what can I say, this place is incredible. I ordered a black decaf coffee. They were able to make a decaf Americano and it was absolutely incredible. Imagine if that is that good. I can only imagine. The real coffee is even better. I eventually will get to that. Now the food was on another level. I got a Panini with smoked salmon and capers. I was expecting it to be fairly average. My expectations are very low for whatever reason. And let me tell you it blew my mind. This was one of the most incredible sandwiches I've ever had. Very satisfying. Decided to try out this small cafe and they were busy ! Granted it was a Saturday morning, they were pretty busy with a few chairs open still. The snack/food options they had were pretty nice and I enjoyed the pastry i had. The drink I got was one of their special blends and it was alright. This cafe is a hidden gem! Very cute setup inside with a large outdoor patio. I got the medium roast drip coffee and my mom got the Paradiso latte. I've driven past this place for several years. Finally a friend and I decided to meet there for coffee. What a treat. Tables, chairs, small selection of Italian groceries and wine. A comfortable place to sit for a big mug of mocha coffee with soy. We ordered mediums, and the came in nice colorful mugs. Thick mocha you never find at Starbucks or anywhere else I've been. When you first walk in, you notice that it has a very cozy and antique feel to it. There are lots of paintings on the walls. Definitely has an old-school Italian vibe here, minus the Italian mob. Operation is standard as other cafes: walk to the front counter to see the menu and order. The barista will take down your order and will bring it out when ready. We get to choose where we sit, similar to Starbucks, but this place is more original and less corporate. They brought out our drinks first. I got the Caramel Mido Latte drink. It had the whipped cream and caramel design on top - you know, those squiggly line things. The latte was made perfectly. It wasn't overly sweet or bitter. Just right for me. Then the #2 Ferrera Panini came out. It was a delicious blend of salami, cheese, mustard, and other things. The Ferrera Panini was crunchy, hot, and you can taste the freshness. You cannot go wrong with this. I got the choice of potato chips as my side. Lastly, I got a small Cannoli for my dessert. It's a custard cream. It has powdered sugar, whipped cream, and chocolate syrup on top. It was delicious because it had the right sweetness to it. Everything I had was a delight to my taste buds. I talked to the barista and he told me that the business has been opened for 11 to 12 years now. The owner is a real Italian guy who came here as a teenager. This is definitely a hidden gem. I wouldn't have come here if not for me looking up cafes on Yelp - yay for Yelp! From the cozy feel, freshness in the ingredients, to the fair pricing, it's a win all around. I just so happen to see this place on Yelp and I needed coffee, needless to say my expectations weren't high. But I have to say after stepping through the door I was pleasantly surprised. The place was full of customers just enjoying the fares and ambiance. I was only going to get a coffee, but I by chance met the owner who introduced me to their wine selection. When I let them know I had just moved to the area, they walked me through the menu and made me feel so welcome! They are as big as your head and full of flaky buttery flavor! Try the CANNOLIS!! Their specialty coffees are delectable... especially the Dante Paradiso, hence the name, Paradise! And the sandwiches are hearty and fresh. The outdoor seating is lovely and there's bike parking in the alcove. Be sure to visit their sister shop in Carytown "10". Staff are amazing, Found this gem randomly and have been back many times. Pleasantly quiet, considering their almost always busy when I go. They have fresh cheese's, marinara sauce, as Italian meats for sale. Their Odissea has been my favorite latte I've tried, but was never disappointed by any of their others. I so, so want to write a glowing review of this unique little spot in the West End, but alas. There's always *something* small that keeps me from feeling that 5-star satisfaction. I'll give you some anecdotes. Last time I was here, a family of 6 came in for Sunday brunch. This included food orders with espresso drinks, but the frenzied chaos it produced from the staff behind the counter would make you think they were catering a wedding -- The poor kid at the register was scribbling and scratching things out on notepad paper, had the man repeat himself a dozen times, and when it was all clear about 5 minutes later, the receipt was sent to the wrong email and another round of chaos ensued. The whole family of 6 was crammed in by the counter trying to stay out of everyone's way, but a long line filed up behind them. Takeaway: it just seemed like the staff was having a hard time handling a larger order. If you're coming here on a Sunday, especially, be prepared to be patient. May not be the best for groups larger than 3. I went in for a light lunch and ordered soup since it was on the menu, and it sounded good on a rainy day. No soup until October, I was told. Okay, so I ordered a salad off the menu. They stopped making that salad a long time ago, I was told. Totally not a big deal, but there are small changes you can make to your menu to better set expectations with clients and minimize those "bummer" moments. When I came for a very time-restricted work lunch, the girl making food "got confused" and didn't bring out my order for 30 minutes, forcing me to go up to the counter and ask about it, then scarf it down. I love chai lattes, but when I took the first sip of theirs, I found it to be sickly sweet. Redemption is that their espresso and coffee drinks are great. Three stars for the atmosphere and take-one, leave-one book shelf area. Very cute. Love that you can stay for an afternoon if you'd like. But all in all, this place could be leveled up by a bit more thoughtfulness and customer service. read more

This wasn't my first time to this cozy little nook, but it's been a while because honestly I didn't receive the greatest service last time. I felt like I was bothering the staff just ordering a latte and pastry. But today's visit was so stellar that I know I will be back! Colleen had a smile on her face from the time I walked in the door and was a complete joy to encounter. I had a vanilla brown sugar latte, a ham and cheese croissant, and a Nutella croissant. Everything was delicious. The ham and cheese is small so you'll probably need to order something else if you're hungry. The Nutella croissant is everything you would imagine. And the latte tasted more like brown sugar and cinnamon than vanilla which was fine. Next time I think I'll try white chocolate and brown sugar. Just before leaving Colleen actually introduced herself and asked for my name, even shaking my hand ever so politely. I wanted to tell her to quit her job and come work for me. Tried out this place and got an iced Dante's Paradiso to go- great flavor! The espresso is a lot stronger than a chain coffee place but definitely a bold flavor without tasting burnt. I couldn't really taste any other flavor besides vanilla but it tasted exactly like a real adult coffee should- bold and flavorful without being overpowering or sickly sweet. The staff was so kind and great and explained the menu to me. The shop also has a really good selection of Italian goods. The whole place is a little small and only has a few tables inside but the patio definitely looks like it's comfy during the summer. Super cute coffee shop with a hipster vibe. Located in the outskirts of the west end it is a cozy and inviting space with benches adorned with cushions and ample seating so you're not on top of your fellow patrons. They use hefty mugs for your coffee so it feels just like a coffee on a Sunday at home. We ordered the Reese's latte which was a little treat for us and it wasn't overwhelming sweet, but gave us our caffeine fix. We also had an egg and cheese sandwich that was made with a panini press. They also carry a wide selection of sandwiches. I am a vegetarian and their sandwich with the artichoke spread is amazing! It is freshly made on a crispy Foccacia bread with grilled vegetables. You get a side salad or chips. The prices are also very reasonable. If there is one thing I would complain about it is their wait times. Since sandwiches are freshly made, sometimes it takes them up to 20 minutes to make a sandwich on a busy lunch day. But then you can argue, it's worth the wait! read more
