This cafe is a hidden gem! Very cute setup inside with a large outdoor patio. I got the medium roast drip coffee and my mom got the Paradiso latte. The drop coffee was good but the latte was reallyyy good. We didn't order food but the paninis we saw at other tables looked delicious. The staff was so nice and friendly and continuously cleaning tables as guests were leaving.

When you first walk in, you notice that it has a very cozy and antique feel to it. There are lots of paintings on the walls. Definitely has an old-school Italian vibe here, minus the Italian mob. Operation is standard as other cafes: walk to the front counter to see the menu and order. The barista will take down your order and will bring it out when ready. We get to choose where we sit, similar to Starbucks, but this place is more original and less corporate. They brought out our drinks first. I got the Caramel Mido Latte drink. It had the whipped cream and caramel design on top - you know, those squiggly line things. The latte was made perfectly. It wasn't overly sweet or bitter. Just right for me. Then the #2 Ferrera Panini came out. It was a delicious blend of salami, cheese, mustard, and other things. The Ferrera Panini was crunchy, hot, and you can taste the freshness. You cannot go wrong with this. I got the choice of potato chips as my side. Lastly, I got a small Cannoli for my dessert. It's a custard cream. It has powdered sugar, whipped cream, and chocolate syrup on top. It was delicious because it had the right sweetness to it. Everything I had was a delight to my taste buds. I talked to the barista and he told me that the business has been opened for 11 to 12 years now. The owner is a real Italian guy who came here as a teenager. This is definitely a hidden gem. I wouldn't have come here if not for me looking up cafes on Yelp - yay for Yelp! From the cozy feel, freshness in the ingredients, to the fair pricing, it's a win all around. Definitely a good place to check out when the weather is nice. Or bad, when you need that hot cup of coffee. Do yourself a favor and check out this place!

Good coffee. I had mine with lavender syrup and it was very good. Reasonable prices. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Italian based cooking grocery is available in the store. Friendly people. I would go back again.

WOW. Let me just tell you that I love being pleasantly surprised. I had a gift card here from my orthodontist so I decided to stop in after an appointment. I. Was. Amazed. I ordered the egg and cheese focaccia as well as the Odissea and wow. I've never had a better coffee in my life. Ever. The environment was so cute too! If you are in a rush, probably not the best place but good things come to those who wait. The focaccia was delightful. Perfectly toasted. Let me just say that I am now a forever customer. They also have a wine club!

We entered and were greeted with " do you have a reservation" in a very un-inviting tone. We both said no. If she said follow me, it was faint. We knew to follow her. I should have walked out !!! The Restaurant was practically empty !! Maybe a total of 20. We walked up a small ramp that lead us to a larger dining area where we saw a few guests. At our table standing was a youthful warm smile waiting that made us feel ok to stay. I overheard someone calling the name of the woman at the door, and they said Patricia. Our server's name was Jocelyn and she was very delightful. Our server made suggestions and explained that most of the pasta is made in house. Still observing and listening. OMG, the woman is the manager. Mam, I'm sure you will be pleased to know that we will NOT return. She walked by several times smiling and conversing warmly with other guests. This is an authentic looking and a bit dated Italian Restaurant. I'll be brief here. I had the spaghetti and meat sauce. The pasta had that obvious taste of homemade and the sauce as well. The bread was homemade with the potential to be good, if it was warm and soft, not crunchy. I had the salad packaged to go. Appetizer was fried zucchini that was golden brown, crunchy and flavorful. RVA has MANY Choices of restaurants to choose and I should've known better.

But it's kept up beautifully! Their menu is HUGE! Loaded with all sorts of amazing Italian food! I had such a tough time deciding what to get, so I was able to try a couple of things by making one entrée an appetizer. We started with their Money Bags and it was really good! Nicely made and creative! The flavors of everything in the "pouch" was incredibly matched with the flavors and texture of the sauce - so good! Next up was their Chicken Diavola and it was nicely made and huge! Lots of food on that plate!! It came with shrimp on top, those were fresh and huge shrimp. It was served over pasta with fresh spinach and all the flavors came together nicely. Save room for dessert, they have a nice selection of them! I got their lemon mascarpone cake - It was great! Overall, very nice dinner... I'll definitely return!

It's small and intimate, so we could talk and hear each other. It wasn't busy at all, with just a couple other tables and some pick up orders dropping in. Our server Christine was fabulous! She responded well when we told her we were going to be slow and were visiting while eating dinner. She checked in on us the right amount of times, offered suggestions (which were spot on) and kept our drinks full. She made us smile several times and I hope to see her again! The food was delicious. We started with the eggplant appetizer (recommended by Christine) and it was so good! Crispy on the outside and fresh on the inside with the right amount of sauce. The dinner salads were the right size and their house dressing (a balsamic vinaigrette) was divine. I wish I knew how to make that at home. Maybe I will ask next time! For dinner I wanted something lighter and no tomato sauce so opted for the Chicken d'oro (another suggestion when I asked about this or the piccata) and it was spot on. The right amount of lemon butter sauce over some super thin, breaded and sautéed chicken breasts. I ate them all!!! My friend thoroughly enjoyed the chicken parm and we both got spaghetti with our orders. For dessert I went with the tiramisu. It was different from what I normally get in that the lady fingers weren't totally covered in mascarpone, and I enjoyed this too!! I really look forward to returning and trying something else....hopefully to get Christine as our server again!

The $11 bruschetta appetizer no longer comes with six pieces as advertised. You get three. They tasted fresh, but for the price and according to the photo, we thought we would have more to go around. The portions for the spaghetti were good-- I was happy to see two giant meatballs on top. The side salad, which I know, it's a side salad, but one tomato and one olive was a bit sparse. The child portion was also well-sized. The food tasted good. This just didn't feel like a $60 for an adult meal and a kid's meal kinda place.

I am visiting Richmond, Va. left the golf course and found this quaint restaurant, Lola's Farmhouse…read moreBistro on Yelp. Cars lined the street to enter the parking lot. It's an affluent area. It's a beautiful evening, I sit outside and place my order. Husband wife owners make their way over to introduce themselves separately. We engage in small talk. The first two courses come and are delicious. Someone then brings a scallop appetizer and I say no I had the entree because I am looking forward to the risotto. The waitress comes to apologize for putting in the appetizer instead of entree and says dessert is on me. The entree comes out and the balsamic glaze made the scallops look seared but they weren't and a couple of the larger ones were less than fully cooked. What I ate was very tasty and briny. The risotto was superb. Alex, the owner, comes over to ask how things are so I tell him the flavor of the scallops is excellent and fresh, I just with they seared better. He could see I was trimming and eating the edge. He thanks me for the input and disappears. Mary Ann, the owner, comes by to ask how things are and I tell her the same thing. She says let me bring you something else like a bowl of pasta. I tell her not a bowl just a saucer so I can taste it. She heads off. Alex returns with two scallops cooked to perfection. A few minutes later Mary Ann returns with a full bowl of bolognese pasta. Later the waitress returns with my apple pie dessert which was outstanding! When the waitress brings the bill she explains the scallops were removed from the check and replaced with the pasta (lower price). The dessert was complimentary. She got a great tip. They went above and beyond to ensure I was satisfied and this is what all restaurants should do. Because of that I'll be back. Well if they weren't closing October 25. But they are opening a new restaurant, Opa Social October 27.

So with reservations- we made it. What a great looking place. Wonderful patio and outside seating. The indoor dining areas aren't too shabby either. Using an old farmhouse as a restaurant gives a really neat ambiance. The service: All the ladies were very friendly and attentive. Our glasses stayed full. Clearly the kitchen staff were also on their game. Our meals came out to us in maybe 12-13 minutes. The food was delicious. I had a steak, red mashed potatoes and asparagus. I do wish they gave maybe another scoop of potatoes. That portion seemed a bit small. But the overall dinner was fair for the price. The asparagus was nicely cooked. The steak was cooked just as ordered and was tender, without any gristle. The wifey had the fettuccine Bolognese. She really loved it. I also need to mention the large bourbon section, which the wifey had one with dinner. It was a speciality Old Fashion but I can't recall the name. But the wifey says it was perfect. So our first visit was a hit and I'm sure we will be back. Make a reservation and give it a try for yourself.
