Cafe Zata is one of the only places in Manchester to eat. I've dined here many times and enjoy the interior space and the staff. They are always welcoming, and it's a good place to read or work, especially upstairs. That being said, the food truthfully is very mediocre. I've had salad where half of the ingredients were still frozen, including salmon. I've gotten sick (food poisoning or diarrhea) after eating breakfast here 3 times, so had to just stop going all together. I don't know if it's the grease of the grill or what, but I just can't continue to go. Stopped by here for lunch before a walk at Hollywood Cemetery. What a great place! They have plenty of seating both indoor and out and tons of drink options (coffee, tea, wine, beer). They also have a large selection of sandwiches, salads and some pastries. Service was quick and the food/drinks were delicious. Highly recommend stopping by. It is worth noting that they have a tiny parking lot with only 3-4 spaces so you will most likely need to street park a couple blocks away (most spots are taken by the apartments). read more

There's not a ton of great food options in Machester (yet!) but this is definitely a solid one! Even if you don't eat here, I highly recommend going for the vibes alone. Plenty of space to study, work, etc. but also socialize and get a good reliable lunch. Nowhere near as expensive as most places in Richmond and I could honestly eat a whole truck-ful of those homemade chips! Looking for something quick, easy, and light - this is your spot. Beautiful little place! Great atmosphere, staff is wonderful. Fast service. Coffee was amazing. Will be coming back again. Next day: went back had a bacon, egg, cheese on a toasted croissant. I came by here for just a quick coffee drink on a rainy day. It's not my first time here, but first time leaving a review. If you want a drink that makes you actually say "wow that's fantastic" then I would recommend going with their dirty chai (2 shots) latte. They have all kinds of great drinks that tempted me, letting me know I'll have to make a few returns to check out the full array of deliciousness. The menu is also pretty awesome looking, with a variety of sandwiches, salads, and other tasty fare. The cafe must have been converted from a garage with a large roll-up bay door, but they have made it feel like a great cafe experience with decor, live plants, and interesting art. So glad my friend introduced me to this cafe. I got an americano and my fiancé got black coffee. Both were standard. My friend got a lavender latte which was very good. We each got something different to eat, all of which was tasty. I got the 7th street sandwich (asked for the bread to be toasted). The blackened Mayo was so yummy. Wow the food here is so good. This is not your average cafe/coffee shop. It's more like a deli with a variety of tasty hearty sandwiches packed with protein. They even have salads and soups. The cafe was across the block from my apartment building, so convenient. I ordered two rotisserie chicken sandwiches that just filled me up. The deli style chips are so addicting too! I also ordered a peach tea and blackberry tea to go. They sweetened the teas just right. I will definitely be back to try the different sandwiches. read more

They don't seem to understand that water condenses off of hot food. So your sandwich, pastry etc come to soggy. Maybe that is a style of food in Elbonia or Nonsuchistan but most folks want their food not water logged here. On a positive side the place has a lot of seating and a nice atmosphere. The Broad street sandwich had generous meat, could use more mango sauce. The jalapeño bagel with egg had jalapeño havarti (nice cheese selection to pick from to customize) and GENEROUS BIG bacon strips! I really want to give Zata a better rating! We have given them so many opportunities (one of the closest coffee shops to where we lived). My first experience and food from here was so great, that I was really just wanting to hold onto that but unfortunately that's just not the case. The inconsistency with the food, drinks, and hours is just disappointing. I can't ever get the same tastes from things I order, each time it's been different. I am a huge fan of Cafe Zata! I will say, if you are in a rush... don't be in one here. It does take a little while after ordering, but it's ALWAYS worth it. I always go for the lunch. There is a good amount of indoor and outdoor space, it's comfortable, etc. It is not a good place to expect to be able to pop in and order something if you don't have time to hang out. I think this place has a lot of potential. The inside is very well planned out with extra room upstairs. However when we placed our orders for bagel sandwiches and a espresso drinks. We paid just under $30 bucks. Nothing fancy or extra but the price didn't match the cost by any means. Our food was brought out. It was mediocre. After we were fully done with our food we finally got our drinks. Only to have one of them made completely wrong. If you offer a service or drink you don't know how to make please just don't offer it. Especially at the prices your asking. Popped over here for the first time this week and I really like this place! Their open sign is like never on but they are open every day. Their front door is around the side. In my neighborhood & recommended by my co-worker, Joyce D. I wanted something light and healthy for lunch since I was going out for a big dinner meal. They have a small parking space for 3 cars on the side of the building. It was about 130p so not very busy, I was greeted by John his wife who were very friendly and welcoming. He liked my 'Howard's Pub' T-shirt from Ocracoke and made a comment to his wife. I told him I was headed there in a few weeks to do some fishing. He said he & his wife go there a lot and were overdue for a trip. I had the smoked salmon salad and the Jasmine tea. It was a great meal and light and refreshing and just what I was wanting. He welcome me to the neighborhood and we talked about the business being new. I told him it was recommended and he seemed pleased that he was getting recommendations. We ran in for a quick pickup order but the atmosphere was very inviting and would definitely welcome the chance to hang out at the patio over a glass of wine. I ordered the turkey bacon sandwich and the bf got the roast beef. Both were ample sized portions and yummy. The ingredients were super fresh and quality. But those four stars are really about those hand made chips. Anyone that follows my reviews knows that I have an obsession with all things fried potato. Zara's homemade chips are these thinly sliced lengths of potato fried to absolute perfection. Easily the best chips I've ever had. I could eat them everyday! Overall: The way I was treated really soured me to anything else they had to offer Service: I went to this coffee shop to enjoy lunch and get some work done, but I was treated worse than I've ever been at any establishment before. I ordered a sandwich and fries (more on that later) and sat down. Their website said they closed at 3 and yelp said they closed even later than that. I had a zoom call scheduled from 2-3. I couldn't leave in haste because I was interviewing a candidate for an open position at my job. A little before 3, the cashier came to me and told me that they were closing at 3, but by that time I was already in the middle of the interview. The meeting had run over 5 minutes when an older guy, I'm not sure what his position was, came and started shouting/shouting at me to GET OUT NOW because they'd closed at 3. So then I had to let everyone on the call know that I had to drop off, but I felt bad because the woman I was interviewing was trying to make her case. Mind you, I hadn't yet finished my sandwich either. I was honestly shocked and offended that he would treat anyone like that, especially when they were closing early and I wasn't just in there taking up space without paying like people often do in cafes. I expressed that to the cashier on my way out and she seemed apologetic, but that didn't make up for the nasty customer service that I'd experienced. Rude and nasty. Vegan/Vegetarian: I had the Bainbridge sandwich which included hummus, red pepper, spinach, and cucumber. Honestly, it was delicious. And I'm not going to try and say their food was bad just because I had a bad experience. They've got several other menu options and based on food alone, would recommend it to others.
