Initially when we arrived there was one other customer but upon exiting I noticed that there was a queue for seats yet the noise level was not loud at all. There's an attached shop for those who want food quickly, yet again it filled up quickly. The neighborhood is undergoing a transformation for the newer generation that's working so we felt safe. Just discovered this gem in an area that has been (and still is) revitalized into a more modern and upscale urban community. Many new apartments and businesses surrounding, but still offering off-street parking, this Restaurant/bar/gastropub fits in perfectly. We stopped by for lunch today, and we were greeted warmly, seated immediately. Server was friendly and helpful, pointing out some of the customers favorites. I opted for the Banh Mi: slow roasted pork, ham, pickled veggies, cilantro, and sambal mayo on a crunchy torpedo. Wife enjoyed a Salmon Reuben: pastrami spiced salmon on rye with continental sauce, swiss cheese and jicama apple slaw. Both come with a choice of side, ranging from super healthy to indulgent. I opted for Asiago covered broccolini, while wife had sweet potato fries (asking for no salt was no problem). All were excellent (although I won with my Bahn Mi!). Portions were generous, although so tasty we didn't waste very much at all. We decided next time to maybe split an order, which would certainly be enough, but there are many other choices that we still want to try. (Saw one lady with a lamb dip that looked enticing, and a salad was carried to another customer that seemed very generous.). Finally, their breads and rolls were exceptional! Torpedo roll was crusty exterior with pillowy soft inside, and the rye was seeded caraway and herbs, freshly baked. This super affordable elevated diner is really cute! They have awesome happy hour deals and plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. My friends and I came here before a movie screenings at Studio Two Three. They had parking spots out front and free street parking nearby. The people who work here are incredibly sweet. Our waiter was very playful and funny. He made us laugh a few times and was really attentive. We were a group of a five and everything went smoothly. Our gluten-free friend was even able to get any sandwich and switch the bread. We went on a Tuesday so they had Tito's Tuesday going on with cheap spiked Limeade specials. There were a lot of drink specials. I can't remember the name of the cheerwine whisky special I got, but that was creative! Their food servings are HUGE HERE. You can really get a bang for your buck. I could barely finish my Continental Club. It was a very stacked club and I think I would've prefered something else. We also got happy hour mozzarella sticks. It's a sweet American spot! Conveniently located on Hull Street, this is the sister restaurant to the Libbie/Grove Continental -- a venue closer to me that I've frequented much more. It was pretty toasty outside, so we opted to sit inside and were seated in a 2-person booth after a brief wait. The restaurant is cute and on the smaller side, and they seemed mildly understaffed as it did take a while to get our food. I ordered a spinach and feta omelet and subbed a salad instead of potatoes. I also ordered a coffee, which was pretty good. The omelet was okay - not my favorite by any means - but made better with salt and pepper. My friend enjoyed his BLT. The poached eggs, hollandaise on top with the very yummy home fries were excellent. Salmon Reuben was fresh, light yet very flavorful. I split the french toast into two for dessert (hence the serving portion in the picture). The yogurt, whipped cream on top of the yummy toast with syrup was perfect to end the meal there. I wouldn't have thought to come out here, as this location is a little out of the way and their other location is close to us, but the difference between the two are night and day. We had the smoked michelada, fried green tomato sandwich (special) and the hot chicken sandwich (and had it with their special "volcanic mater wing" sauce). Everything was delish! But when I tell you this chicken sandwich is one of the BEST I had in years....it was crispy, juicy, the breading was crunchy, and the sauce was spicy as hell but exactly what I wanted ‍ bread was the perfect ratio and the pickles were just what it needed to balance out the heat. She had a sandwich and I had the Brisket Benedict: brisket, sautéed onions & mushrooms, poached eggs, popovers, asparagus, with horseradish chive hollandaise. I was very disappointed that it didn't work for me. Individually the components were delicious and prepared perfectly. Unfortunately, the flavors and textures didn't meld well FOR ME. I walked in and saw a sign that said "Please wait to be seated." The restaurant was nearly empty, with maybe three tables occupied. I waited, and waited. About five minutes later, a family of four walked in. The kids ran ahead, and the bartender acknowledged them, telling them to "have a seat wherever." At that point, I thought, "So, I'm invisible?" Eventually, the bartender asked, "How may I help you?" At that point, I decided to leave and simply walked out. As a resident of the neighborhood, I was just trying to support a local business. The food is overpriced and mediocre, but without local support, I'm sure the restaurant won't last long. It's always empty, and that day I thought I'd make an effort to support them. The Cutlet was quite large, moist and juicy on the thicker part a bit dry on the thinner, flavorful but a bit on the well done side, the Breading was quite dark, The Pasta was also a quite generous portion, easily feeds two or more. a bit spicy but in a good way. Garlic bread really doesn't travel well from anywhere, I imagine when fresh was quite good, it was three star. At the end of the day, I would order it again.
