I always love the atmosphere of Little Nickel when we stop in. On Friday night after a day at River Rock we went for dinner and had a great evening full of laughs and good food. The restaurant was quite busy, but we were seated on the patio quickly. That evening, they had a pasta al a vodka special but I still got the lamb burger with fries. We also got the pork bowl, which was HUGE and the table favorite. The bowl had rice, beans, pineapple, shredded pork, tomatoes and pickled onions. I love the amount of food and all the toppings. It was kind of elevated chipotle! We finished the evening with coconut cream pie and a couple more Coors lights. The coconut cream pie was fluffy and slightly sweet. I enjoy this place! It's kind of a diner, tiki bar mashup and anything I've gotten here has been very good! The first time my husband and I got the lamb cheesesteak and Siam salad and both were great and huge. The second time we came with a large group and the servers were very accommodating. What an interesting place and menu. I have never really been to somewhere like this place. From the atmosphere to the menu, you will definitely not forget it. We got the burger and lamb cheesesteak. I came here for dinner on a Wednesday and I'm lucky we had reservations as it was packed. I ordered the crab spaghetti ($24) and it came out in about 20 minutes. I was astounded by the portion size, like there was easily 3 servings. Noodles were cooked well and the sauce was good. Due to the huge size it was a bit hard to get all the sauce onto the noodles so some of it was a bit dry and bland, but when you did get the sauce onto it, it was quite good. There was a fair amount of crab meat for the price. Overall the highlight of this place is the food portion size, some of the best bang for your buck you will find. The braised lamb shank tacos with all the fixins were excellent. My wife had the burger and fries and it was delicious as well. The egg roll appetizer was perfect. Little Nickel's reputation for great food and service apparently is well known! On a cold sunny day Manhattan Clam Chowder really hit the spot, delicious! There are several lamb dishes available. My wife chose the Lamb Burger with slaw. It was a generously sized flavorful burger on a fresh brioche bun. The slaw was luscious. I chose the Ahi Poke Bowl. Our fish was properly cooked and we enjoyed the red snapper, except for the confusing fusion of a jalapeño and basil sauce that accompanied the red snapper. Is this Hawaiian? I have a good friend who moved to the area recently so I visited for the day so we could catch up, walk the neighborhood and have lunch. There are lots of good choices for lunch in this area within walking distance. If we were drinking we might have visited the Veil, but we both are trying to lose a bit of weight so have been forgoing alcohol to see if cutting those calories would help drop a few pounds before we break out bathing suits for beach vacations. Little Nickel is such a cute place with a tiki bar vibe. The menu had some very interesting choices. My friend is pescatarian so she ended up ordering a sweet potato and kale sandwich that looked really good. I got a salad that had avocado, oranges, cabbage, Thai basil and cilantro and I added grilled chicken. It was a ginormous salad and was really good. I ordered 1 beer after having 1 beer while waiting an hour for a table. She never came back in 30 minutes. The minute i asked someone else, the assistant manager came over and said i was slurring my words. I had 1 beer at this point! I tried to explain i have an speech impediment, that i stutter not slur, but he showed no empathy. I get its busy, but c'mon. 30 minutes without getting your coke and water too?? I love this place! I love it so much I came back a week later after my first visit. First off the vibes are awesome. The inside reminds me of a famous speakeasy in chicago called three dots and a dash. Love the tropical art deco vibes with all the art, furniture and wallpaper. Next off the drinks are super delicious. Saying I have an obsession for tiki drinks is an understatement. And they have some awesome presentation skills with each drink coming in a special glass- my favorite was the skeleton drink. I'm not quite sure how often they rotate their cocktail menu, but the bartender did mention they were switching out their frozen drink soon. Next up I'm hoping to try their punch bowl drink! Finally, the food was super delicious. The portion sized are HUGE, so we shared about everything among the table.
