Gaaaaa-rrrrrross! You might catch something worse than Covid here! It was a pretty nasty joint. A party spot with a rowdy crowd having fun, but extremely dirty. We literally meant to go next door to the Mexican Restaurant but went in the wrong door! Why did we stay? The place next door was closed! Plus Hubby wanted a beer and we had to use the restroom during our travels. "Big mistake! Huge!" As Julia Robert's from Pretty Woman would say! But there was nothing pretty about this place. We didn't want to order any food... but I ordered something that I thought was a safe bet and they couldn't mess up... a quesadilla... did I mention we meant to go the the Mexican place next door? We waited like 20 minutes and nothing... the server who had taken our order came to the table and asked if we ordered. We were like yeah, about 20 minutes ago. He must have been high because he goes.. "my bad, I forgot to tell the kitchen". Forget dude... and we were out! Then he goes outside for a smoke! For realz!! The restrooms were disgusting. Trash runneth over and the floors were filthy! Ugh! Nuff said!! There were a few tables outside, but from there you can smell the refinery/paper mill which assaults the olfactory receptors ! P-U, stinky... which may come from the word PUtrid?? You etymologists let me know! So basically you're damned if you sit inside or out! Hemingway, despite the 4 TVs, the drinks specials, the tiki bar in the back (which looks haunted) , the party atmosphere becomes deflated and overshadowed by the dank and grody environment and the horrific service, or should I say, lack thereof. So I stopped in for a late lunch early dinner on a Friday night. It snowed a few days ago so the place is not jumping. There is a band setting up on one side. I would say they are a bar restaurant. They have a bunch of tables inside and some outside. There are people smoking on the patio. Not sure if you eat outside when it is nice out that people smoke near you. I ordered the bacon cheese burger. I got lettuce tomato and onions on it and sweet potato fries on the side. Not sure if it was because they were slow but my order came out real quick. The burger was real good. Kind of reminded me of a nice homemade juicy burger you would grill outside in the summer. The woman that was working the bar was also the waitress. She was real nice. I overheard her say that it got real busy for lunch and then was slow again. I guess I can see some of the reviews being bad. If they are busy and she is alone that could be a lot. read more

Nasty bathrooms, basically a real dive, bad attitudes from the employees, extremely annoying local regulars who harass and and try to start fights with others who come in. My husband often goes to Lovell's place for lunch--but I've only been one other time. Both times my meal was delicious, fast, and hot. This time we got the Nacho appetizer (even the chips were hot) and the Philly steak sandwich (and fries). The Philly had the softest bun with melted cheese and peppers (passed on the onions) and steak. Seriously the best I've had (even in Philly). It's the only place I'll eat in West Point. I would never stop here again. Some of worst food, and expensive for what it was. Took almost 2 hours for food. The water had a strange taste, almost soap like. Asked for another glass thinking it was the lemon but no, it was the water. The burgers were OK. I have had better off a backyard grill. Not a 10 dollar burger. Fries were frozen and eh. They were very hospitable and the food was really good. they didnt distract my service dog and the prices were very affordable. the only thing that was a little annoying was our waitress was so loud we could barely hear each other talking when she was screaming across the dining room. other than that she was nice and the food was pretty good read more

Server rolled eyes at me when I placed a drink order. She acted like it was the biggest inconvenience when I asked for a lemonade, and shook her head at me because it would be more work for her. I've worked in the restaurant business for years and if I was as rude and slow as these ladies, I'd be fired. So unimpressed. read more

Definitely a bit of a dive bar, but the food is really good. Burgers are large and juicy, and the Three Little Pigs sandwich with pork BBQ, ham, and bacon is really good. Have also had the Reuben, which is delicious. French fries and sweet potato fries are also hot, crispy, and good. Have only had takeout there so can't speak to the service. read more

A hole in the wall bar if the wall was from a septic tank. I live nearby and gave them three chances. All of the food I had was gross, the restrooms are maybe cleaned once a week, and it seems like you aren't welcome unless they know you on which case why start a business? read more

Stopped for breakfast on a Sunday while traveling through west point. We ordered a western omelet, toast, grits, and sausage, pancake , grits, toast. We were very disappointed with food and service. Grits were barely warm, sausage tasted like it had been deep fried and tasteless. The toast arrived cold with lots of butter, which never melted. Omelet was large, thin, and not very good, waitress brought coffee, and never ask how our food was. Cold and terrible would have been my response. Most of food left on table. We got up and went to bar to get our bill. I did mention the food not being warm or good, no comment or response from waitress.....do not eat breakfast here, travel on. read more

First time stopping in today and I was impressed! Hidden in the back of a somewhat defunct shopping center, it doesn't really jump out at you. There are very few places to pick from in WP, and in my opinion, they're a bit worn and outdated with little to choose from outside the norm. Lovells felt updated and fresh by comparison. The menu was chock full of sandwiches and burgers that all sounded pretty good. I ordered the popper which was a cooked to order patty on a delicious bun with cream cheese, raspberry jelly and deep-fried jalapeños! It was delicious!! Service was phenomenal on the Saturday afternoon, even with a single waitress and a full house. I do wish the prices were a tad lower, but the food was good enough I look forward to returning!! read more

Not to sound cliche, but we LOVE this bar. Being Native West Pointers, we love that it's right in our backyard practically. Now, we don't frequent the place that often but when we do, it's typically for a beer or two and food ordered to go. Our entire family has menu favorites. So, long story short we were picking our son up from a late practice and decided we were not cooking. We called Lovells with what typically is our favorite order, two orders of chicken wings (they are amazing, ALWAYS cooked perfect) a chicken tenders plate, and the Steakhouse flat bread which is my personal favorite and I could probably eat it everyday and never tire of it. On this particular night my son and I went in to pick up our order and unfortunately there had been a problem and it wasn't prepared....not a big deal, (stuff happens) I said we'd wait and I'd have a beer...this is where the Love starts to kick in folks....beer was on the house, they increased our amount of chicken wings and dipping sauces to nearly double, added some extra tenders and had it ready before the time they said they would!!! Our first visit. Lunch time. Got a pizza - good but small & at almost $10 is a little pricey. Buffalo hot wings - fried & good. 6 wings for $7, little pricey too. Received our bill & there was a "CC fee" of almost 4% added into the total. I paid cash, thinking the "credit card fee" would be removed. It was not. That was disappointing...& deceiving. read more

My husband, 7 year old son and I very much enjoy Lovell's Place. The food is fresh and delicious. We usually go at lunch time on the weekends or early in the evening. The wait staff is very friendly and they go out of their way to make us all feel very comfortable. There is a very nice bar and an area with a corn-hole game that my son and I play while our order is being prepared. If you enjoy a clean, relaxed atmosphere and great food, I highly suggest you go to Lovell's. read more
