Because we live near by, we have been to Lakeside many times. Its a small restaurant next door to the dock and boat rental on the Chickahomoney River next to Ed Allen's campground off of Route 30. The service is always friendly, the food is decent, the Long Island Ice Tea is our favorite cocktail and the views on the outdoor dining deck are gorgeous around sunset. Howver, as you might expect, when they have a band, DJ, or Singo game going on it gets really crowded and sevice slowes to a crawl. read more

Ordered takeout Hamburger Steak and got home and had Country Fried Steak. When I opened the container there was an over abundance of white gravy. Could not even see the food. Kept getting a recording when I tried to call them. read more

Hubby's crab cake sandwich was mostly fish. His side of fries was stingy. Common! Frozen fries are cheap. "Greek" salad's was a pile of springmix with feta cubes and black olives and bottled balsamic dressing. Key "lime" pie was missing fresh lime and again skimpy portion. Service was excellent. Ambiance ok. We won't return. read more

On Sunday around 530 pm we traveled 30 mins to get here. On arrival, we were immediately greeted by the wait staff and they said to seat anywhere. So we choose to set outside with a great view of the river. It was nice to see water and small fishing boat from their patio. Dogs are allowed out side, so next time we bring the little 4 legged girl. The wait staff quickly took our drink order and was back to our table in less the two mins. My wife got a house white wine - do not get this- she said is was terrible. But I got a bottle beer and was happy. The menu is full of sandwiches, burgers, salads, seafood, and dinner specials, but we just wanted a pizza. 16" round pizza was back on our table in about 20 min. The pizza was just ok ( c+ or b-) nothing to write home about. I would say the crust was considered a medium thickness and pizza was full of pepperoni. We both ate 2 pieces each and the took 4 home for leftovers. We will be back some day to try other foods. We did see a lot of burgers being service. read more

The food was good and affordable. The lakeside views were abundant and refreshing! Our server was courteous and professional.

For what it is, it's good. Casual lakeside food, marina renting boats, fishers and families coming and going. Atmosphere is very casual, but clean and friendly. Food is good, mostly basic fare. Prices are reasonable, service is prompt and staff is friendly. read more

We ordered the pork chop with gravy. The price listed in their website was 40% lower than what they charged now. The two fried pork chop were both over cooked and bland. The gravy was too salty. read more

The hamburgers are excellent. The place is country, no fancy ferns, but the scenery is great - sitting right on Chic lake. At dinner, the beer menu is limited to good old Amurcan beers, (again, note, no fancy ferns). OK, maybe Mexican tourist beer - Coronas. Highly recommend Lakeside. read more

We had a party of 25 people and got lucky because the restaurant wasn't crowded. They took us in with open arms, food was correct and hot, and the waitresses delivered awesome service! Love the environment this restaurant was located in too! Thank you Lakeside for taking in our out of town baseball team after we won the championship read more

3 stars are for good service and location of this restaurant. The food is pretty low quality except for the fried items which taste great. This is not a top class restaurant, but if you are looking for a good time with a beautiful view this is a great place to start. If they changed their food quality (meaning thicker steaks, better meat choices maybe add a smoker to the location) then this would be a top of the line restaurant. read more

Walked in the door and was ignored, eventually sat ourselves, watched 2 tables arrive after us and had their orders taken first and got their food before we even got our coffee. Never did get the Bloody Mary. Too many years in the restraint my business to let this one slide. Wait staff overwhelmed. Customers having to get up and get their own drinks, obvious regulars used to the poor service. Wife got up after 20 mins to ask for a second time for her drink. Damn shame for such a great view and convenient location. Waitstaff prioritized regulars over unknown customers. Took almost 30 minutes to even get waitress to take our order. Waitress also said that they were out of sausage, potatoes, grits, & biscuits. Table that arrived 20+ minutes after us seemed to get all those things without an issue. read more

I left a review 3 months ago but it isn't here. We had terrible service, and the food was terrible. We stood at the entrance for 5 min while the only employee visited with the only table with guests. When she finally seated us, it took LITERALLY 40 Min for them to cook a simple burger and grilled chicken! We will never go back again, even though it is close and has a nice view. read more

We stopped by here on the way from Colonial Williamsburg and our hotel in Richmond. The establishment was located near a campground. We almost noped out because of how empty the parking lot looked. When we stepped inside a young hostess met us at the counter and told us we could sit wherever we wanted. We took the tall table by the window overlooking the lake. The view was really nice! The food came very quickly, and was well seasoned. My kids loved the fish and chips, we almost ordered a second helping for them. Our server, Olivia was very kind. Even though we looked like out-of-towners she still came to check on us regularly to see if there was anything we needed and if the food was to our liking. In my opinion, the prices were a pretty good value for what you get. All in all we had a pleasant experience and the friendly service more than met our expectations. Glad we came here instead of eating somewhere in the city. read more

A hidden jewel in the country. Lots of sounds of nature on the Chickahomny Lake. Great service and good food reasonable priced. It's still family owned and operated. he place has campsites on both sides and lots of folk come up to the deck and share stories of their big catch. You should check this place out. read more

We went there for breakfast and I'm sure they have good food but we never got to try it. We waited for 10 minutes at the wait to be seated sign then went and sat at the bar. We waited at the bar for about 20 minutes as all the servers ignored us. I eventually went and asked for a menu and the lady who was working snapped that we were supposed to wait at the sign. I told her I didn't know because usually every resturant you can just sit at the bar. The other server handed me menus and the two of them told us there is tables in front of us and walked away. We would of waited but we were not offered drinks or anything. We did not feel like we were wanted as customers so we left. Not a great feeling when you finally get to go camping for the season and you were really looking forward to trying their food. read more

The view is amazing. But the food was just okay. Definitely nothing to write home about. Ordered the bacon cheeseburger and the patty was a frozen patty and got cheddar cheese which was sprinkle cheese that was it even melted. The bacon was way over cooked. The Fries were good and hot. I am disappointed because I would have liked to come back for breakfast but based off this experience, I don't see us coming back. read more

Great location. The burgers and fries are really good. Staff is friendly. The sunsets are amazing in the summer.

Very chaotic intro. Finally got greeted and told to sit wherever I could find a place. A server came to me with a menu and said I don't know when we will get to you we are really busy. Finally received my burger, which was well done not medium-and I had the misfortune of seeing the waitress next to me serving her long table and her shorts were so short her cheeks popped out every time she served them. No napkin or silverware-ever! Would not recommend this place . read more

Beautiful views. Hot, delicious food. Sweet tunes on the speakers. This place has my vote. A+.

Great view of the water and spooky trees. Enjoyed the plentiful BBQ sandwich and pasta salad. My girlfriend enjoyed her BLT and fries. Too bad they were out of the daily special -meatloaf sandwich. Friendly staff- gave us a water for the road. They have bands on the patio on weekends and looked like a well-stocked bar. Don't be deterred as a bit of a drive thru a campground then down a gravel road thru the woods. I was a bit hesitant with the mixed reviews, but glad we decided to stop here for lunch. read more

View and people are outstanding. Good place for locals to meet up. Food is okay. Nothing "outstanding" about it but its just good home cooked burgers and seafood. Burgers are home made from fresh beef, not pre-made frozen patties like the average fast food place. Worth stopping at if your our fishing or passing thru the area and need a quick meal. Not exactly cheap though for the burger and fries but worth the extra $2 over a fast food place read more
