My fiancée & I visited Cul's Courthouse Grille while on a short little vacation in Charles City. It was our first time here and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. You can tell this is the type of place where everybody knows everybody. The inside is decorated nicely and gives a really at home vibe. We arrived around dinner time and the restaurant quickly filled up while we were there. We ordered off of the "special's menu" for our appetizer & main course. We chose the fried cheese balls with hot honey as our appetizer. They were so good that we didn't even get a picture. Then for our main course we both chose the beer battered rockfish which came highly recommended by the staff. It is served with a salad, hush puppies, fries and coleslaw. Everything was absolutely delicious. We ordered a slice of coconut cake to go because we were both stuffed. The service was wonderful and we will definitely be back again. 10/10 highly recommend

Stopped by for an early Saturday lunch and tried a few new dishes. Food: Lobster Bisque was still delicious as last time but it cooled very quickly. I love my soup hot, so next time I might ask for them to heat it up hot! Chicken wings-very good and the one sauce was flavorful. Good ranch and blue cheese as well as it came with carrots and celery. Fried green tomatoes-nice and crispy coating. Crabcake sandwich-not much filler (barely any) lots of crab! Also came with a pasta salad that was good. Our server was sweet and checked on us often. Brought my husband a sample of a beer on tap to make sure he liked it. The owner even stopped by and talked a little football with my husband and made sure our meal was good. The restaurant is in an old house and literally has a homey feel. There is a small bar and it's not overly large inside, altogether about 8 tables. The bathroom is also large one stall! Food www still great 10 months later and will stop by when driving through.

Very impressed. Came here after riding part of the Virginia Capital Trail and got a burger, very fresh and fries were so good (seasoning was very nice). Everyone is super friendly and the inside atmosphere is quite nice too. Will probably be back whenever I'm in the area!

We had looked of for a place to eat after fishing & came across this place. Parking was kinda small but alot of ppl in & out so it wasn't to bad. They had lady singing out on the patio. A lot of ppl ate outside today. We came in, order our food. Everything was very good. Only thing we didn't care for was the stares but oh well.

Stopped in for lunch with family. It's a pretty cool old country store turned into a restaurant. It's got casual good vibes. Food was delicious, I had a burger specifically. A decent little draft list. Fun place.

I was tasked with phoning in the reservation (thankfully the meal went better than that debacle)and since we were dining early it wasn't an issue. First of all, there are two places in the property; the Tavern and 5 Fields pizza and beer. We dined at the Tavern. GORGEOUS garden lining the old farmhouse! We went in and were seated inside right away. As it was almost 100 today it was ideal seating. The decore is well.... different. Where we sat was a truck grill from 1928, and there was more of a sports motiff. (If you go and sit in the same room, let me know if you can spot the crooked pic!) Once again, my curse at remembering names of the servers has hit again which is a real sham because she was beyond AWESOME. She was VERY patient with my extremely frustrating mum which was nice. We both got this truly genius idea of an appetizer to start; a veggie boat with a ranch style dressing. Omg it was perfect. Warm day, cruciferous veggies, ice cold drinks. Heaven. Next came the burgers, she got the Tavern burger, I got the Charles City burger. The Tavern has cheddar cheese and bacon, the Charles City has bree cheese and this creamy mojo ajo aoli along with fried shallots....there is probably more but all I know is that I feel like an idiot never having triple creme bree on a burger before. I have to take a moment to also inform you that they make the BEST Cosmo outside of NYC. Perfectly blended and chilled, and just strong enough to celebrate a Friday night. Yowza! One.more thing. They tempted me with a scoop of their home made butter pecan ice cream. I just want to move in and become one with this place it was so good. I haven't had butter pecan this good in 50 years!! After this essay I guess you could say that I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. It's in a beautiful area, lots of parking, great food & ambiance. I couldn't find a single fault.

We ended up at the Salty Siren for two reasons, one, it was recommended by one of the guides at the Henricus Historical Park as being near the Farrar's Island historical marker (ancestors) and it was on the river. The view was gorgeous. We were promptly seated at an outdoor table overlooking the water. Our server, Jodi H., greeted us with a smile and offered to get our drinks and our calamari appetizer. It was excellent. Light, crispy, fresh with a few fried jalapeños for zing. The dip served with them was really good. I ordered fried oysters, which came with authentic hush puppies (which for this southerner means no sugar!) and I ordered the vegetable of the day (steamed broccoli) to sort of make up for the "fried". My husband ordered the grilled salmon. His salad was huge and the vegetables were so fresh that I filched some of his cucumbers. His salmon was amazing. It was perfectly cooked and it was so moist and tender. We will try to return if we are ever travelling this way again. Try The Salty Siren. Situated right under the York River bridge, not far from the Yorktown museum, is the cutest village. I'm sorry, they can't claim it as part of the original Yorktown but it is cute. There is a lovely river walk...hence the name of the restaurant. They have some of the BEST views in the area being right there. We had reservations however it being the busiest day for restaurants, we had to chill our heels for a few moments before being taken back. I was more than ok with this as we ended up getting a window seat (see above for reference). Thank heavens they put the name of the server in the receipt cuz y'all know my Swiss cheese brain. Cara was the wonderful server who took care of us. She was always there ready for me to get my mum good & spoiled. Super friendly and very helpful. The buffet, it was impressive for a buffet and while not a big buffet, it was specialized. First up were 3 different kinds of salads, then a fruit platter, and bagels & cream cheese. They had a raw bar with shrimp & oysters next, then breakfast stuff (eggs, potatoes bacon etc) mac & cheese, garlic mashed taters & then a carving station with turkey, ham & lamb. Finally a small but respectful dessert table. If you couldn't find something to fill you, you weren't looking. The single sour note of the buffet was the salmon and Mac & cheese. I'll know better next time. Overall the River Walk has come back with perfect timing and style. I highly recommend a visit. Parking is a pain but patience will help

When I found out they were having a set menu for Vday I called the week of and we were able to switch our reservations to Friday February 13th. I downloaded the InKiND app as well and they gave me a $50 off discount if you spend minimum $150. The open table app did have a $20 per person fee for reservations and that will be applied to the final bill. Our reservations were at 4pm and we arrived early and the parking area is ample with a parking garage and some street parking. We started walking to the restaurant at about 355pm. This time of the year seems to slower with ot being cold. Once inside we were greeted by the young ladies up front. We were offered a table or booth and we chose a table. We did sit at a table with the view of the water which was nice. Jason our server came over within seconds to pour us water and take our drink orders. We both wanted sweet tea with lemon. Since we knew ahead of time what we were ordering, we gave our appetizers orderes first. We ordered the soup of the day which was the she crab soup. It is highly recommended. We only ordered a cup and not a bowl because we were unsure of how it tasted. The Caesar salad had no anchovie flavor like we are use to and was just medicore. We ordered the meatballs which had lamb and pork in it. They were juicy, tender and just needed a little more seasoning. The Calamari was fried to perfection for me and could've used a pinch of salt. The sweet tea was everything and I would recommend it. For the main entrees, we chose the shrimp and scallop risotto and the beef braised Ragau. There were two scallops and four grilled shrimp and few asparagus with some chopped up bacon. This dish I highly recommend as well. The beef was tender, seasoned and pasta was cooked perfect. Overall, this is a nice and quiet place to dine at anytime. I would recommend and will definitely return again. Jason was on point with his promptness.
