Very disappointing experience. My girlfriend and I are from Michigan and used our valid Michigan IDs at the bar. As soon as the bartender saw them, she rolled her eyes and gave us an attitude, which made us feel like we were being treated as if our IDs were fake simply because they were from out of state. Later in the night, I returned to the bar and ordered two more of the same drinks. After closing my tab, I chose not to leave a tip because of the way I had been treated. I then went back to the back bar where my coworkers were. A bartender from the front bar came over and got my attention just to hand me a handwritten note that I attached to this review. He immediately walked away before I had a chance to respond. I calmly tried to explain the situation to the back bartender. He told me that I should have tipped if I expected good service. When I spoke to the bartender who gave me the note, he told me, "We know your IDs are fake." Why would they have served us in the first place if they thought they were fake? Also, I had never even mentioned to him that our IDs were from Michigan, so it shows the original bartender did indeed assume our IDs were fake. I let him know they were real and that he was welcome to call the police to verify them. The situation went even further when my coworker went to order a drink and the bartender said, "I will serve you, but I'm not serving him because he doesn't tip," while pointing at me. I understand that bartenders rely on tips, and everyone is entitled to their own feelings about tipping. What I find disappointing is a tipping culture where a bartender can be blatantly rude to a customer and then still expect that customer to leave a tip, and even go out of their way to tell them not to come back. I want people to know that when you come to this business and tip, these are the people you are supporting with your money. read more

The food is consistently good, the bar selection is excellent (although no dark beers on draft, which is my husband's go-to) and good vibes. Went here for the first time a few days ago. I noticed the establishment was clean, big, and everyone working there was friendly. We were in the area for our anniversary and found this tiki bar (we LOVE tiki bars lol), so of course we had to stop in. I am so glad my fiancé talked me into staying because this place absolutely knocked me off my feet. -I highly recommend the Nuclear Hawaiian and the Hello Kitty!!!! When we mentioned we weren't sure about the food, the bartenders jumped right in with recommendations and suggested the calamari and crab rangoon and they were spot on! When the food arrived, everything was perfectly cooked. The calamari was tender with a great texture, and the crab rangoon was crisp with amazing flavor. I went from I am not hungry to I could eat multiple plates of the same thing. We ended up staying for hours watching college football and mingling with some of the regulars. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and we genuinely had such fun conversation with people around us. We even heard from several folks that this place really comes alive during karaoke nights. At one point an older heavyset lady who we later found out was one of the cooks came out to chat with people. She was checking in to make sure everyone liked their food and catching up with the regulars like family. it really showed how much the staff cares about the people that walk through the door. MPM Tiki Bar feels like a true local gem with great drinks, delicious food, and a staff that makes you feel welcome from the moment you sit down. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was very welcoming and attentive. I've never encountered a friendlier waitress. I had the Pad Thai add beef and it was delicious. I could eat it every day. My cousins had the drunken noodles and crab fried rice. We also had the veggie gyozas and fried Crab Rangoon. I wish the crab rangoon was crispier, but it was still good. MPM is a very cute space. I enjoy the food and ambience here. Definitely can be a fun place to go to late night as well. My issue with MPM is my card has been charged double or more on multiple occasions. It seems to be a common problem they have. I've spoke to at least two other people who have had the same problem after going there for drinks. I will say that when I go there during the day I don't have this problem. When I'm there for drinks at night is when this seems to be happening. I've driven by this spot a few times, so I was excited to finally try it a few weekends my first impression was that the ambiance was great-- the restaurant was full of people at around 6 PM on a Friday night, and the decoration was fun and eye catching. I found the service to be great and responsive as well, our waitress was consistent on checking in with us, yet also very accommodating when we were feeling a little indecisive. The food itself was passable, but it doesn't help that there are a lot of quality Thai restaurants in the area with similar offerings and better serving sizes/execution. For instance, I can speak to the stir fried/vegetable dishes; I ordered the basil eggplant (pictured), and there was a disappointing lack of the dish's namesake. I also tried the happy hour calamari which was quite delicious. It's got a fun vibe with a tiki bar in the front of the restaurant, enclosed booths, and karaoke in the back room some nights. It's a little loud but not too loud you can't hear your conversation. Everything comes out very quickly and is so delicious! Every single thing we ordered was cooked perfectly and had an amazing flavor. The staff are so friendly and the owner is very present. After going through the hassle of returning the item in person, they then refused to take responsibility and told me to contact DoorDash instead. To make matters worse, DoorDash offered no resolution--no refund, no credit, nothing. Apparently, both the restaurant and DoorDash believe it's acceptable to serve spoiled food and leave the customer to deal with it. This is beyond poor service; it's negligence.
