I'm not often in Midlothian so it was nice to try Wild Ginger. It's an Asian fusion restaurant and is part of the EAT restaurant group. The restaurant itself is decorated nicely and has plenty of seating indoors and outdoors on a covered patio. The customer service stood out the most. They asked about dietary restrictions/allergies at the beginning and asked whether we wanted the food to be served all at once or in order. Those little details make a difference in a dining experience. All food and drinks came out promptly. The sunshine shrimp was so good and was similar to honey walnut shrimp. The pad thai tasted more like stir fry for me. The table next to me also ordered pad thai and our dishes were very different colors.

Just a little sashimi "nosh" for us today, but the fish was fresh and tasty. Exactly what the doctor ordered!

I stopped by Wild Ginger for a quick lunch and had a great experience. The hostess who was also my server sat me at a nice booth. I decided to go with the Lunch Sushi (priced at $16 which was a nice special). She asked me if there was anything I didn't like and was kind to note that I didn't want tamago. It was pretty empty on a Wednesday afternoon, but there were some other guests. I saw an old sommelier friend walk in so I can only assume they have great wine here. I enjoyed my dish. The decor was cute and trendy. They had two gender neutral restrooms. I'd be interested in coming back to try other creative sushi dishes and non-sushi dishes.

The wife and I wanted a nice place to go out for dinner with the rents and enjoy some Asian food. All I have to say is wild ginger nailed it. We came in early and our server told us if we were able to order reasonably quick before the kitchen got backed up. Obviously, they had tried many things on the menu and were very knowledgeable about what to order. We tried several of their recommendations as well as some different things that we had never had before. Everything was cooked to perfection delivered carefully, timely, and the restaurant itself was split up enough that you could still have a conversation even after it was busy.

Scored a nice booth with our friends on a busy Saturday night. Parking lot was full at 6:15pm Our waitress Jenny was fantastic- friendly and checking in just the right amount and shared some of her favorites. Definitely appreciated the booth because it starts to get pretty loud around 7pm. We started some drinks, including a margarita, the plum paradise, which was a cocktail special and a couple of sapporos. The margarita was well-made in the plum paradise was very enjoyable, but needed to be stirred before sipping. We also ordered a blood red spritzer later on, which was very refreshing. Everyone enjoyed their appetizers - Lobster wonton, tuna tataki, gyoza and a kitchen special called seared Niku Nigiri which was seared beef nigiri with mushroom shallot butter topped with truffle oil, jalapeño, red onion, and garlic -Delicious! While the tuna Tataki was good, It could have been better because the seaweed salad served with it, absorbed all the sauce that was supposed to go with the tuna so that was a bit of a letdown. Entrees did not disappoint- sushi deluxe, Tropic thunder roll, oven - roasted Seabass, perfect pearing roll/tuna roll. Some of us agreed however the perfect pearing roll probably did not need the citrus aïoli because it tasted fresher and more vibrant without it. My friend ordered the oven-roasted Seabass with the jalapeño yuzu sauce on the side because she's not always up for spices, but she loved it which tells you it's not too spicy. All in all a fun night out!

Met my friend for lunch. Wild Ginger is one of our favorite restaurants. We started with the calamari which was perfectly crispy. We felt rushed through our app as our server tried to take the plate away while we were stilling eating. I got the Sashimi Cobb Salad it was large and had plenty of protein. Some of the lettuce was a bit wilted and soggy, but I was able to pick those pieces out. I asked for an order of "Ken's sodo soup" with my salad. What arrived at our table was miso soup. I asked our server what happened as I was a bit confused. She dismissively said "well for lunch we have it where you can add miso soup for $5." It didn't make much sense since I didn't order miso soup and specifically wanted to try the other one that I ordered. I didn't want to cause any issues and I like their miso soup so I rolled with it. Although the service was lacking, our meal was good overall. Just not the exceptional experience I usually have at this restaurant.

Pleasantly surprised by Wild Ginger! I've passed on this restaurant before because the online menu makes it look like there are no vegetarian or vegan options. However, we were seated quickly and the first question our server asked us was if we had any dietary restrictions, and assured us many dishes could be made vegan. We shared the Singapore Curried Noodles and Vegetable Maki Combo sushi (no egg). We also added fried tofu to the noodles. Both dishes were tasty! The noodles were flavorful, the fried tofu was awesome (crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside). The sushi was good - our favorite was the sweet potato roll as it had some crunchy bits inside. Overall would recommend again. If you're vegetarian / vegan, don't be fazed by the menu online, they are happy to make accommodations in person.

I'm going to be honest, I was a bit disappointed during my most recent visit to Wild Ginger. We arrived on a Saturday during Happy Hour and the bar was practically full (although they were reserving a table that wasn't due for an hour and fifteen minutes, which they did offer to us) but we opted for the patio. We tried several Happy Hour bites to include the Fried Teriyaki Wings (just OK), the Salmon Rice Crackers (really good), Crunchy Roll (just OK), and the Spicy Tuna Roll (fine, but I had one piece that was more fishy than the others...). We also ordered a couple apps off of the main menu, the Curry Mussels (overcooked and sauce that was oily and separating) and the Yellowtail Jalapeño Sashimi, which I normally enjoy but it was warm? I prefer my raw fish to be cold for obvious reasons and also because I enjoy it that way. I wondered if it sat under a heat lamp, and if so they should really take a look at how to avoid the cold appetizers becoming hot. I also had the Espresso Martini, which I quickly had to trade with my husband's drink because it was full of cream which is not what you would normally expect for this cocktail. I didn't even think to mention it. My second cocktail was even worse. Everyone who knows me, knows I am a Spritz girly, so when I saw their Blood Orange Spritzer I immediately wanted to try it. But it was too heavy on the gin and acidity, and could have used more SPRITZ (sparkling wine). The Sake Cocktail was fine. All in all, I wasn't impressed by the view of the parking lot, the service, the cocktails, nor the food. I don't think we will be back for a while...

I came here because the sushi reviews were top notch. I left here believing the reviews! The sushi was fresh and so darn pretty! Our table also had the Pad Thai and Singapore noodles. The Pad Thai was supposed to be taken home for dinner. One taste turned into an empty plate. I like the metal containers the food came in (on top of the plate). It really is a great heat conductor because 10 minutes after the plate was sitting on our table, one stir and the steam still appeared from the dish. It's also really pretty inside. I would pick this restaurant for date night, or some kind of intimate gathering. Or really.... just because you want great food.

Dined in two weeks ago with some girlfriends during happy hour for drinks, snacks and sushi in the bar area. The server was very personable but the service was slow. We had to flag him down a couple of times for more food/drinks. The bar area WAS busy but two people handling the space seemed reasonable enough for this not to happen. Regardless, the food was great and we had a good time overall definitely recommend!

Do you have a happy hour?

They do but it's not very impressive! Two dollars off their signature cocktails made them $8. Our server told us rail drinks were $4 but then asked for vodka preference and up charged us. They did have okay wine specials so if you like wine I'd give…

First, I want to shoutout the incredibly sweet server I get here each time. I don't know her name, but this spot feels family owned and she is always beyond sweet and attentive. There is a lot of free parking out front and near this spot. It's in a sort of strip mall and can be a little confusing to get to, but if you follow your GPS it should be fine. Dining in or takeout are both great options here. You get your food quickly either way. I love their signature purple rice that comes with the sushi here. I also adore their nigiri choices. On my first visit years ago, I got a very yummy dragon roll. On my last few visits, I've enjoyed their avo salmon roll, white tuna nigiri, scallop nigiri, and miso soup. Their fish is fresh and delicious here. I highly recommend getting sushi here.

I ordered the steak hibachi, and while it was okay, the steak was a bit more overcooked than I would have preferred. The gyoza was definitely the best thing we had for lunch. The location itself was really cute, and I liked the vibe and ambiance. However, it was suuuper hot inside the building, which made it a little uncomfortable to sit and eat, especially while eating hot hibachi. The service was fine for the most part, but there was one interaction that felt a little awkward. Since we didn't finish all of our food, one of the staff members asked if we liked it. We told her yes, but she made a face, looked down at our plates, said "hmm," and then took them away. It was a small interaction, but it definitely felt a little strange and left us wondering if she didn't believe us lol. Nothing about the experience was necessarily bad, but between the overcooked steak, how hot it was inside, and the slightly awkward interaction, it landed right around a 3/5 for me. Cute spot, decent portions, and really good gyoza, but there's definitely some room for improvement.
