NEVER ORDER PICKUP FROM THIS PLACE. They flat-out lie about timing. We were told 6:47--didn't get our food until 7:58. The restaurant was only about half full, so this wasn't a crowd issue--it's poor management and zero respect for customers' time. They clearly keep taking pickup orders they can't handle. Amazing sushi! We did our usual Friday lunch and chose this restaurant as it was recommended on RVA Dines. All 3 of us got the special of the day which was an eel roll (unagi) which I love and so did my friend Ron who is not into sushi. At half price, the sushi was a great deal although I could have eaten two rolls since I was so hungry! The woman helping us explained a lot and we felt comfortable. The ambiance is amazing! Lots of happy customers including the couple at the table next to us who obviously had been here before and ordered all kinds of sushi. So I didn't try much, just shrimp tempura... little greasy. No big deal. It's the cleanliness of the place that freaked me out! Shocked no other mentions in reviews. Yet, it couldn't have just been an "off" day bc this dirtiness was all settled in. The white curtain you need to open to get through, was majority brown in the center. The windows & door had finger/hand prints everywhere and the worst was the roach or mouse traps hidden behind a plant at the front door. Really disappointed tonight after several wonderful experiences prior. Tonight's sushi was very fishy, with one tasting of ammonia that I couldn't bear to get down. The nigiri was room temperature to warm when we received it. Spent ~$70 and barely ate the food because it was lacking the freshness I feel that we normally receive and I don't want to get sick. Completely turned off and do not foresee ordering from Fuji anytime in the near future for this reason. Super disappointing. read more

First and foremost this restaurant smells horrible. The bathrooms have a drainage problem that you can smell the second you open the door. The sushi was not very fresh, some of our tuna had the smell of fishy fishy like close to turning. To me this is a no brainer on returning. You KNOW the bathroom stnks but you still welcome guests we with this low standard says more that you know. I can say the people are very nice and they are trying but you have to start at the real problem folks sorry. read more

Honestly this place used to be a fav for me, but I just find myself disappointed with my most recent visit. The chicken hibachi seems to be a pre made meal and it just tasted off overall. The service was great! Super sweet and knew when to come to our table. She was like a ninja didn't even notice her full up our waters. The food was great! My bf got the Red dragon roll. His reaction was amazing for someone not too expressive. It's great bc he also can't eat avocados so it's nice finding choices without it. Friday night, rude associates and badly managed. The Asian lady with short hair and glasses (might be owner or manager) is very rude! Long wait for food and the atmosphere is very unfriendly! The above mentioned lady yelled at 3 door dashers to get away from the counter. She also was very rude and aggressive towards the young white worker. I'm so glad the other hibachi place was closed bc this restaurant was so nice. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating, the hibachi tasted amazing, and their green tea was honestly the best I've ever had and I drink a lot of tea. Their Godzilla sushi roll was as well. read more

UPDATE: I've returned a year later and this place is very good. The service is on point and the fish tastes great. The sushi rice was a bit wanting, but I've found that to be very common. With sushi - "It's the rice." 8/24/19 I love this place! From Texas and was looking for a quick meal with good friends. Stumbled into Fuji. The server was sweet and the sushi was delicious! I had Spicy Kani Salad, ikura sushi, and the Spider-Man Roll. All were fresh and very tasty. We were seated and greeted immediately, and had wonderful service throughout our dinner. Like any typical sushi place, good sushi is going to be a little pricey. That being said, the sushi was so good. It was very fresh and the flavor combinations were delicious. Popped in to this place after another sushi place we tried was closed and so happy we did! We got the crab rangoons, the vegetable tempura, a sushi love roll, and the chicken yaki soba. Some friends were in town and in honor of a get together that was a long time coming, they ordered delivery. They spent quite a bit of money and ordered a variety. I tried them all and wasn't disappointed at all with any of them. Their ginger was delicious and their soup was nice and still warm! The only thing I would suggest is packing the food in a more size appropriate container. There were single rolls in very large containers and I felt that was such a waste and a shame to throw away that much plastic. If they invested in something a little more sustainable, I would definitely feel better about ordering delivery again. Overall, very good food! read more

When here with my mother to grab a bite to eat. We used a Groupon. The food was average. Mon likes it. The ginger salad was a little bland in my opinion. The teriyaki chicken tasted like rubber.
