Normally I could point out one thing that was better than another such as service over food or vice versa in this case both through outstanding. The waitress that we had was wonderful. I had difficulty cutting my food and she was extremely helpful in assisting me. My only very very minor point would be under the staff stand, which leads out to the outdoor dining. It was quite a bit of garbage underneath the stand. It had me look around, but the rest of the dining room was extremely and clean. It was only one spot. This place is very nice. I love the ambience. The waiters in waitresses are very hospitable. I didn't necessarily go inside, because the person that I met up with already had a table for us outside. Please note: if you do not get there in good time you may have a long wait, because this place is very popular. May want to call and ask if you can make reservations; I'm not quite sure if they do. SAFETY Because we are dealing with the pandemic, public health and safety pracitces have been heightened where they are mindful of masks, gloves, etc. (I know some of you may not really care about this). Some people are becoming more cognisant of health and safety. I am happy to say that this facility is doing what they can for people's safety. They require for you to wear masks until seated. They have masks on as well as face shields (faceshields are optional). They wear gloves if they choose to do so. They also do the social distancing with the seating arrangements. And they do have outdoor seating if you would like to be a little bit more cautious for yourself. FOOD So I will tell you in advance that their food can be on the pricey side so if you are not a person willing to pay a nice little price for your food, you may want to try another place. This place is definitely a Bang for their buck; you definitely will get a good quality meal for what you pay for as well quality service. I chose the Tom yum soup which has shrimps and mussels diced tomatoes and a few other nice little nodes in the broth which is very delicious. As you can see from the photo the muscles are still intact with the shell. They do give you a cute mini fork for your seafood if you choose to be a dainty with your muscles. However, if you are a seafood person (seafood boil type person), you can also just eat the soup and get the muscle out the ole fashioned way; no judgement here lol. Now from the waiter, he explained that they have this season where they do charity rolls of and every charity roll purchased a portion goes to a charity of their choice. This charity role that consisted of a temperature ramp with avocado inside ,topped with crab meat and a slither of fillet. Spicy Mayo and Thai sauce is drizzled on top as well. It is very delicious . Do I know if this is something still on the menu today.... not quite, because I think that they make a different charity roll every season (or every day... can't remember fully). The manager did inform me that a close comparison to this role is the annual in that was his opinion/suggestion. Overall, I would say that this was a great experience. Ginger beer was everything. The service was decent nothing extraordinary. The decor was nice and the outside area was welcoming.

20% automatic gratuity fee is ridiculous and takes away all incentive for good service. And they should tell you when they are putting the 20% tip on the ticket and not wait for you to catch the "additional tip" on your signing copy. It's been quite some time since my last visit to Wild Ginger. I loved it pre-covid and still love it to this day! A friend and I dined in for dinner on a Thursday evening. Every employee we encountered were masked up and seated patrons were spaced out throughout the restaurant. We started off with two appetizers. Sesame Scallops - the delicate texture of the scallop sitting on a cream based sauce and a crunchy wonton delivered such perfect and delicious bites. Curry Mussels - This appetizer was the perfect portion for two! I absolutely love red curry and Wild Ginger knocked it out of the park with flavor. The curry is not as spicy to what I am used to, but every ingredient balanced out well. I went with sushi for my main course, the Truffle Shuffle and Joker Roll. A huge fan of both! Certainly different compared to many other specialty sushi rolls that I've had. The Joker was my favorite of the two. The crunch from the jalapeño and tempura shrimp, creaminess of the goat cheese, the hint of spice from the Thai chili sauce and crunchy garlic, it was a party in my mouth. What's great is that even though so much went on, it didn't take away from the taste of the peppered tuna that's also in the roll. It was perfect! My friend had the Two88 and a Philly Roll. I had a bite of the Two88 and it was delicious! Presentation of each dish was great. The ambience was welcoming and cozy. Our waitress, Jessica, was an absolute gem! She showed great knowledge of the menu and specials. She answered all questions we had. This sushi experience is a very unique and swanky find in Midlothian. They have a great menu of both sushi and not sushi options. Each roll is described very well and expertly created. I highly recommend the soft shell crab appetizer. Although I didn't have it this time, it's always great! You can't always get soft shells many places, but theirs are always good! They have a variety of cocktails that highlight excellent craft spirits and creativity. I strongly recommend the twist on the Manhattan.... I can't recall the name, but it's wonderfully boozie (which may be why I can't recall the name!) The vibe is classy but you can be somewhat casual. Only bad experience I've had was when a waiter, who was not our amazing waitress for the evening, slammed my sisters plate of food down on the table and walked off. The plate literally bounced he threw it down so hard. And this was on her birthday. It felt very intentional as he walked off rather than apologizing for throwing it down. We almost got management but decided to ignore it since our actual waitress was so great. Overall a great place but not a fan of that waiter. Only saw him once though. read more

We decided to do a share so we ordered a couple small plates and a couple rolls. First was the calamari. This was really crispy and fresh. I loved the spices and peppers that came with it. Next we had the Mussel Curry. Red curry with a very healthy portion of mussels served over rice. The surprise with this dish is the lemon in it. It added a freshness and a pop to the dish that was very balanced with the red curry. Next we ordered Extra Ordinary Roll. Avocado and spicy tuna inside, seared filet mignon and tobiko outside, with spicy aioli and ponzu. This was so tasty with the perfect amount of heat/spice. Last we ordered the Two88 Roll. Shrimp tempura roll topped with avocado & spicy blue crab, with eel sauce, wasabi aioli, and black sesame. All the sauces worked together to great a perfect flavor. This is a great date night spot. My husband and our friends recently went there and overall we really enjoyed the experience. My husband had a sushi roll combo and it was fresh and good. My friends husband had the Mongolia beef and really enjoyed it. The only complaint is that it was advertised as spicy and he couldn't tell it was spicy at all. My friend and I had the pad Thai and honestly this is where they lost the star.... it wasn't good at all.... I got some sauce from the sushi bar just to add some kind of flavor to it. They picked up a star with the desserts! The molten lava cake was AMAZING! I could just go to eat that! We also had a cheese cake and that was also delicious. Met up with the girls and forgot to make reservations.. the bar was so accommodating despite bloody Covid! Thank you John for taking good care of us at the bar while we waited for our table. Appetizers at the bar included pork gyoza, spring rolls, and a spicy tuna roll. Once seated for dinner it was really hard to choose from all the options. I felt like a kid in a foodie heaven candy store. We landed on tuna tartare, sesame scallops and lamb tostadas from the appetizers and the Power Roll from the maki roll selection. My dinner partner had a shell fish allergy so we ordered a steak roll that threw out server for a bit of a loop.. the manager came over to confirm what we were asking and when the steak roll came out it was perfect! It was actually one of the best rolls I've ever had! I wish I had taken pictures, but the food looked and tasted so great that I completely forgot to take them! Overall, I highly recommend this place! A little pricey but not unreasonable. Absolutely fresh and flavorful food! We also ordered some old fashions which were delicious as well! Is it fine dining? Is it Asian? Is it Asian/Mexican fusion? Sushi? I don't know what this place is other than my least favorite from the EAT portfolio of restaurants. It wasn't THAT bad (it was good), but putting a beef/steak dish that is nowhere near as good as any of the similar dishes from any of the sister restaurants into a taco salad bowl shell, downgrading the steak, adding more sauce and charging $30+ is insulting. Really. It is insulting. This restaurant wants to be the grandfather of the eat portfolio, but in it's current form, it's just the young boy.
