I hate leaving a negative review but the experience I had was terrible. To start off, I placed a pickup order online and when I went to pick it up they told me they just put my order in because the printer broke. I thought okay whatever I'll just wait in my car. 20 minutes later I get my order. So after 45 minutes of waiting I finally have my two very basic sushi rolls. I am allergic to avocado and made sure to write on my order TWICE that I wanted no avocado on my California roll. This may be a strange request but that's why I made sure to write it twice, in all caps. I get back to my house and realize they in fact did put avocado on my roll. I threw away the California roll (because I can't eat it) and looked over to the next. As soon as I was about to pick up a piece, I realize there is a hair in the sushi... I tried eating a few pieces but was honestly just really disgusted and annoyed. The few pieces I did eat fell apart as soon as I picked them up and were rolled improperly. 2 disgusting rolls for $20 after waiting for 45 minutes = 2 stars. And that is me being generous. Always my favorite sushi spot. The owner is so friendly and welcoming. She remembers me even when it's been a while since I've been here. My favs are the spicy tuna roll and the California roll. Both simple but with clean fresh flavors. Pricing is also very reasonable. I've brought others here and they always say it such a good value for the quality of sushi. On a weeknight, it's usually on the quiet side with only a handful of tables occupied but it's also a steady flow in and out of regular customers. 7:30pm ish 12/6/22 Tuesday I really wanted some hibachi. Something I haven't had in a while. Went to Tokyo, sushi and ordered a shrimp and scallop hibachi, a California roll, avocado, a mango roll, and a miso soup and salad came with it. The rolls were average. Miso soup was average. Salad is a salad. But what I really want to talk about is the hibachi. I spent $45 at this restaurant tonight. And I'm very disappointed.. I ordered shrimp and scallop hibachi, and I have never in my 58 years on this earth ordered hibachi and it came smothered in a brown "sauce". Every time I have ordered hibachi, at many different restaurants, it's always the same . Fried rice, vegetables and the meat of your choice. Not smothered in a sauce. The sauce totally took away the taste from the seafood. Because yes, I did taste it. For me it was not very tasty at all. Definitely not what I expected. Oh, the fried rice.... This isn't fried rice. I did call back up there and the lady was very very nice but I told her this is something I've never had before it's not your typical hibachi. She said this is how they cook hibachi all the time and it is teriyaki sauce on it. But my thing is it's not teriyaki sauce just on it, it's smothered, look at the picture. This place is a hidden gem! I'm always craving sushi, and I haven't been to Tokyo Sushi in years. The parking is super convenient, and it is located in a little strip mall. The interior is smaller than I remembered, but it was pretty busy for a Sunday night. There were only a few workers due to it being a Holiday weekend, but the service was still exceptional! The business owners were both working - one as a server, the other as the sushi chef. We started out with a house salad, edamame, and pepper tuna tataki. The pepper tuna taki wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but it was still good. My mom ordered a seafood udon. The broth was very clean, it wasn't too flavorful but I like that. We haven't been here in a long time. We moved and since it was further didn't come. We are back. I'm so happy. This was my favorite Japanese restaurant. I love getting the live scallops. But I ordered two along with sushi special lunch. Soup and salad included with the lunch. Plus the Edamame a free check in offer. Either that or a glass of wine. I look at wine and I'm tipsy lunch time and lots to do yet. So no wine. I loved the fresh scallops it is my absolute favorite. And this is the place to get them. There was one man behind the counter preparing the food and one woman on the floor serving. She handled it like a champ! The room was almost full and we didn't have to wait for anything. Despite the smaller staff the food came out super quick. The food... My only complaint was that I felt the menu was a little large and confusing. Putting some soy sauce and the chili flakes they brought over helped a bit. The bowl came with ample amounts of seafood, which was surprising to me. Great affordable sushi with a deal too! I am always hesitant about sushi restaurants here in RVA from living in vb . I was pleasantly surprise but the quality and price of this place. The staff was very kind and helpful and the specialty rolls even come with pictures. The setting is clean and peaceful. I was happy with the 2 rolls for $10 something and we even got a free app with the yelp check in. The menu has a nice selection and variety as well. The rice was the right consistency and didn't over power the sushi. I will definitely be back . I really enjoyed my meal and this spot is very close to my house. I was seated immediately and drink order was taken as soon as i I sat down. I had to peruse the menu as there were so many options for the sushi and I want sure if I wanted to get the hibachi. So I got both. Went with the volcano roll, it was the best tasting roll i have ever eaten. The freshness of the crab and the siracha mixed with the crunch made this a must have. I read the hibachi wasn't that good, that review was wrong. I had the Salmon and vegetables were crisp and rice cooked perfectly and salmon was crispy outside and juicy inside. Was craving for some sushi near by and discovered this on map section of the Yelp app. Saw that it had some pretty good reviews and decided to give this place a try for dinner. I was working on my paper and couldn't take a break yet, so we decided to order pick up (through the awesome Yelp online order App!). I decided on getting an order of Gyoza (fried pork dumplings), miso soup, and the spicy yellow roll and the earthquake roll. Honestly can't go wrong with miso soup and dumplings. As for the sushi orders, they were all pretty good, I can't lie to you and say that it's a "must try" location, but it sure as hell satisfied my sushi cravings. They were pretty quick on getting the orders done by the time hubby got there.
