The food is fresh. The soups are hot and flavorful. Teriyaki is great, ask for extra sauce. But, the sushi is some of the best ever. My grandsons come to town and it is always their first choice. Service is wonderful and pleasant. Dillon is very attentive. Ambiance is peaceful. read more

My favorite sushi spot in Richmond! I like to start with their miso soup which has a lot of tofu and seaweed. I always order their salmon handrolls and sashimi! The salmon is good, could be fattier. Their red snapper sashimi is so so good! I also enjoy their fried noodles, it's very tasty and not too salty or oily. Their steak hibachi is good! For dessert, I love their sesame balls with red bean inside and their matcha ice cream! They also have fried Oreos, they come with 4! read more

Update - the past 2 times we've came was very disappointing. Food was still good, but the service was horrible. Slow service and food took forever to come out. The most recent time was at 3 pm on a Thursday, it was not busy at all. I had to waive the waiter over several times because he was just sitting around. Plates we order never came so we had to ask about them also, several times. Food we did order took forever to come, and honestly the plates coming out one at a time is annoying. All of the other AYCE sushi places I've been to brought almost everything out at the same time. I was with family who came into town and I was raving about this place, so it was very unfortunate that we had this experience. Don't think we will coming back. read more

All you can eat Sushi? Sign me up! I visited on a Friday night around 8pm. It was a little busy but not a long wait. Our server was fairly attentive and kept asking if we wanted to order things. I enjoyed the gyoza, California roll and whatever other roll I got (recommended by the server). I also got the matcha ice cream which I didn't love. Worth the $40 read more

Great place for AYCE sushi. Dishes came out quickly on a Wednesday evening despite many tables being filled. The sushi was delicious. Many roll options were fried or had cram cheese. There were sashimi options too. Lots of appetizer options. We got edamame and gyoza. Both were cooked well. The chicken katsu was just okay and not very flavorful, but that wasn't our main reason for going. The koi pond in the front is beautiful. Service is as expected at AYCE sushi, but everyone was kind!!! read more

Our family loves this place for dinner! Usually go twice a month. Fresh food they bring it to you! So you don't have to get up and get it yourself and risk germs. Service is usually great except when it's really crowded. Worth the money and they have hot food as well so everyone is happy! We love it all from appetizers to desserts! read more

Thus place has been around for a long time and have seen it go from self severe all you can eat buffet to something completely different. It's still all you can eat, but you order your dishes off of a menu. Which I like, cause the food seems to cooked nice and fresh. Before I go onto that. Let's go over the decore. The decor is sooo cool! It's like an oasis in each corner. Take a look at my pics. It gives you that "Tea Garden" feeling!Feeling! It's so pretty inside! See pics The food was nice and fresh, but I suggest not to over do it on your first order mostly when it comes to carbs. They will give you a lot of that one item, so you can fill up fast! So it's best to pace yourself. Some of the dishes I liked was the Salomon skin salad, shrimp tempura, salmon sushi, unagi sushi and for dessert green tea ice cream. I will definitely come back and try other dishes! read more

My family and I don't usually expect much at all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi restaurants but we were pleasantly surprised! Our group of 10 went on a busy Saturday night. They have a lot of seating so we were able to get seated pretty quickly. Our server managed all the tables really well and we didn't have any problems that weren't fixed. The AYCE price includes sashimi, which can have extra charges elsewhere, and a beverage (soft drink refillable or one alcoholic). They have a huge menu including options for raw and cooked rolls. We enjoyed everything we ate. Some of the most notable items were the sashimi, bubba gump roll, little tokyo roll, steak teriyaki (served with only the protein), ice creams (creamy and great flavors), and the fried oreos. read more

Sushi Masa can be hit or miss, I wish it was more consistent. We love coming here because it comes with sashimi in the AYCE option and that isn't something that I've found is common around the area. The service is typically fast, but I've noticed that the staff changes every so often and when it's busy - it tends to be a lot slower. In terms of quality, we've come on really good days and also some mediocre days. We love that the price comes with a soda or your first alcoholic beverage (includes Sake). read more

If you like sashimi like we do, this place is worth every penny. Upon entering, the place is beautiful. We went on a Friday night for dinner, so we paid $30.95 per person which includes a drink. We ordered clear soup. It wasn't the best I've had. Tasted like broth with not much flavor. Next, we had 3 appetizers: tuna tatami, pepper tuna and mango salmon. Loved it! For the main course we tried so many things. The Snow White roll was my favorite. My son got his sushi on a boat. Pretty cool. Other things we tried: Zack's special roll (not my favorite), LSU roll, rainbow roll, fried rice( too greasy), fish Katsu (big portion), spider roll (cone style), and tempura cheesecake (forgot pic). I might have missed reporting on a few things. We ordered one piece of every sashimi except bean curd and it was delicious. It came on a bowl of ice as it should. Overall, the experience and food were great. A few disappointments, but nothing major. I will definitely be returning to try more things. read more

The ambiance is fantastic! Low playing music, beautiful beautiful decorations! 10/10. Food wise, I wasn't very impressed by the choices. They don't have crab ragoons which I thought was interesting. I got 2 rolls and they were good just not fantastic. It would be nice if the classic rolls or typical rolls had the description of what is in it. The service was good. He had to ask for water and my friend didn't get the right roll and had to wait a while. read more

Best Sushi AYCE in RVA! Quality of fish is definitely more fresh than other places, service is always amazing! Past couple times our servers Ri and Jessica did an amazing job! This is a frequent hit for my friends and I! If you order enough you will get ur sushi in a boat, shell, or some type of fancy dish which is cool. They have anything from speciality rolls to hibachi! Fried oreos and icecream are also amazing to end your meal with. Atmosphere is great, they have nice decorations and a koi pond in the front you can buy feed for! read more

I came in at 8 o'clock and then it was kind of full, but I had a weird situation with a customer and splash water on me. I couldn't get service and everybody team service had a real attitude towards me ordering the food plus the bathroom was almost blocked off when I had to use it so I didn't do anything to somebody. The food was OK. I didn't deserve any of that so I just I never wanna go there again. read more

Well worth the price. Quality wise, you get what you pay for. Hard to complain when you get all you can eat sushi for $39. I am not a seafood eater and was still impressed with the variety and options. I'd return. read more

Came here for a quick sushi lunch and was extremely disappointed by the rudeness and lack of service from the staff. Our waitress was MIA for most of the time and was very rude when we made a mistake regarding ordering and was not willing to resolve the issue in a professional manner. It took a long time for our order to come despite we came pretty late after the lunch hour and sushi itself was pretty mid. Specialty rolls were uninspiring and the pieces were extremely small. I guess if you're here for the "all you can eat" experience you won't notice but if you're here for real, authentic sushi, this isn't the place for it. 2 stars for the ambiance bc it is a unique and interesting looking place with cool decor and seating areas and I would have loved to come back but probably will not. read more

Back here again service is still good. It is quiet and pleasant in here. I ordered the Thai tea this time with the meal. It is excellent. Thai tea is a sweet drink. Food was as good as always. I got the deluxe sushi and sashimi this time. Enjoyed each bite. But for me it was too much and I had help finishing my meal. Keep planing to come here and try the Chinese side of the menu. But keep getting the sushi side. read more

We came here to celebrate a special day, but unfortunately the service completely ruined the impression and experience. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I stacked our dirty plates, napkins, and trash at the edge of the table trying to be nice and make prebussing easier. They sat there for a long time taking up table space and making it uncomfortable for us to eat. No one ended up picking them up. I looked around and mentioned that other tables had the same issue. Our server barely checked on us. We had food in front of us but no chopsticks so we asked server to bring them, and after waiting 10-15 minutes, one of us had to get up and find them ourselves. The server finally brought chopsticks later, after we had already solved the problem. The same thing happened with the ginger. After waiting a long time, we had to track down our server, who reacted with, "Oh yeah!" as if he had forgotten. A few minutes later he tossed a messy pile of ginger hanging off a small plate. Like saying "just shut up". He left without apologizing for delay or saying a word. Server approached us only three times. After that we had to capture him ourselves. It also took another 15-20 minutes just to get the check because the server never came by to see how our food was or whether we needed anything. We ended up paying with cash just to avoid waiting even longer. Watching my dad and boyfriend be treated this way was frustrating and disappointing. We came excited to celebrate, but left with a completely different impression. Food wasn't bad but terrible service ruined my entire experience and mood. I would not recommend this place. read more

Overall the food isn't bad! It's not amazing, but not bad either. I actually love their sashimi and have never had an issue; their sushi in general is OK, but my husband and I mostly stick to the sashimi options, which we love. It tastes fresh, good texture, and we've never had an issue with that. Their service is mediocre at best but for $20 AYCE lunch and $30 AYCE dinner, I can't complain too much. It's typically packed in the restaurant and they seem to always be short staffed. We recently tried the tempura veggies and probably wouldn't order again, due to them being cold and oily. We go back for the sashimi and for the price, it's worth it! read more

I typically would avoid AYCE sushi in fear of not being able to eat that much and quality concerns, however, Sushi Masa was awesome! My fiancé, our friend, and I came here for lunch on a Sunday. We learned that AYCE $21 lunch is only on weekdays and that dinner applies to weekend which is about $31. This didn't deter us since it came with a drink and AYCE! It's located in a strip mall so there is easy free parking out front. They had men and womens restrooms here with several stalls. There was also a lot of seating available since it's a huge restaurant. Our waitress was sweet and helpful. Our friend is gluten-free which was a bit difficult to cater to here, but we made it work. We sorta went family style with the sushi we got. Everything was fresh and delicious. There isn't a buffet you pick from, you order directly from your server and it gets made fresh. I was so happy with our experience here. I really enjoyed my nigiri and sushi rolls. The others did as well. We closed our our meals with dessert. The fried oreos were a bit off, but the green tea ice cream was yummy. We all ate past full haha. It's a wonderful place if you're really hungry. I would come back. read more

The place itself is beautiful -- very nice design, stylish interior, and great atmosphere. I'm posting pictures because visually, the restaurant looks impressive. Unfortunately, that's where it ends. We were seated and completely ignored. No one came to our table until I got up and asked for service. Orders were taken, food arrived -- but we had no plates and chopsticks at a sushi restaurant. The food quality was horrible and very cheap, and the service was ridiculously bad. A nice-looking place cannot make up for such poor execution. We won't be returning. read more

This is some awesome AYCE sushi! And it is so cute inside. Our daughter spent a good bit of time feeding the fish with their $.25 fish food (lovely touch). We had sashimi, sushi rolls, lo mein, gyoza, house salads, miso soup, shrimp fried rice, and we ended our meal with red bean, green tea, and vanilla ice cream with cheesecake tempura. Soft drinks or your first alcoholic drink are included, but it's $1 extra if you get imported. The food comes out fresh and fast. The only downside was that the dirty dishes stayed at our table for the duration of the dinner, but this wasn't bothersome enough to rate this place down. It seems like they have designated people fulfilled different roles, so maybe there was a hiccup there. We can't wait to come back! So delicious, and great value! read more

Visiting Richmond for work and exploring new restaurants. I was craving sushi, and found this place I'm google. I ordered the crazy yellowtail and fried rice. The fried rice was okay. The crazy yellow was good but as I was eating my last roll, I was chewing and chewing and something was still in my mouth. I pulled it out and it was paper. I called the restaurant and she told me to bring it back. I did but when I arrived she asked what I wanted them to do. I asked for a refund, she said I would have to go through DoorDash. I said could they remake it. She said no. That she will talk to the chef and tell them to be more careful. I am not contacting DoorDash to report the issue. read more

This place was quite good the last 5 times I've been here. But this previous time I came on a Thursday and everything was just off. The fish didn't taste as good as it used to be and the service was just so slow. Everything took almost 2x the time to come out even thought it wasn't to busy. It's still my go to place as the sashimi is ayce with no upcharge compared to other spots. Will give it another shot sometime in the future and hoping this past experience was just a one off. read more

As a Richmond native, visiting this strip mall will always be nostalgic as I often ate here when it was formerly a buffet referred to as the Sino American Cafe, later changing its name to Super King Buffet, then one last name change as Hibachi Sushi & Supreme Buffet until its closure. This location has now transitioned to an AYCE restaurant though at the time of Sushi Masa's soft opening, I had no interest in visiting due to the 1 star reviews. Plus, there was already a new AYCE sushi place in Willow Lawn that was decent, so why bother? Well, fast forward to this current point in time, I found myself in the mood to try a new restaurant and wanting to indulge in my favorite food (sushi). I've decided to give Sushi Masa a chance after discovering the reviews have improved since their soft opening. Well, let me preface that if you choose to dine here, you will not be disappointed! This is one of my new favorite restaurants simply because the interior is so inviting/welcoming and most importantly, the sushi is great quality along with the plate-ware that its served on. My Dad and I came with a big appetite and pretty much got to sample the majority of the dinner menu though was too busy enjoying the experience that I didn't document all of the variety of dishes that we ordered though below is the feast that we had. +Drinks-Coca-Cola & Sweet Tea; soft-drinks are included in the AYCE menu along with free refills +Soup-Miso & Seafood Soup; Dad especially loved the seafood soup +Tempura-sweet potato; my dad thought it was fried cheese lol +Appetizers-fried calamari, gyoza, age tofu, sesame balls, shumai, harumaki +Sushi/Sashimi-Tuna, Salmon, Crabmeat, Fish Egg, Eel, Shrimp, White Tuna, Hamachi +Rolls-Tuna/Salmon Rolls, Eel Cone Style Roll +Special Rolls-Crazy Yellowtail Roll +Teriyaki-Red Snapper +Dessert-Tempura Cheesecake, green tea/chocolate ice cream, fried oreos I was especially impressed by the variety of staff members whom frequently came to check on us and to ensure that we had everything we needed. Everything was yummy and we are dreaming about the next time we come back to dine-in. Thank you! read more

This AYCE sushi restaurant is the best one in Richmond. I made a reservation just in case, but it was clear that I didn't need one when I arrived because of the ample seating. The host sat us quickly under one of the fun flower seating areas and we were super happy with our seats. In addition to the flower seating, they have various private rooms and a lot of seating for larger parties. They even have a karaoke room! We started by ordering the salmon tartar, miso soup, and green tea with our kind waiter. All were delivered quickly, and since I was hungry we got right to eating. Shortly after we ordered the Masa Roll, rainbow roll, spicy tuna roll, and some shrimp tempura. After 2 more rounds of food, we were stuffed. But still had some space for the fried oreos and chocolate ice cream. The bathrooms were very clean and big enough to not feel cramped. We were very satisfied with our experience and all the staff members were nice and helpful. read more

Best AYCE sushi place in the RVA if you like sashimi. The other cooked foods are also great (miso soup, katsu, appetizers, etc). I don't really get the rolls because I'm team raw fish, but I am sure they are good too. The service is always friendly, food comes in very beautiful platters in a timely menu. This place is decent. Just decent. I wouldn't recommend coming on a Saturday because they will surely forget your orders and take an extremely long time to serve you.
