I'm giving this place a 3 out of 5 because of the server. If he hadn't been a jerk, I wouldn't have had an issue. The food was delicious. I'd rate the taste an 8 out of 10, and the flavor, color, and presentation a 10 out of 10. For appetizers, we had the Thai Sun-Dried Beef and the Duck Roll. For our entrées, we ordered the Bangkok Chicken and the Spicy Lemon. Now for the backstory. Parking is street parking and it's very hard to find. My friend and I found a spot after about 10 minutes. The entrance to the restaurant is downstairs, so you have to walk down a few steps. I have an injured knee, so I was already annoyed knowing it would irritate it. While I was telling my friend "oh no" about the stairs, the server, who I didn't realize worked there at the time, said, "It's fine, it's exercise for you." I was immediately upset and responded that it had nothing to do with exercise but everything to do with my knee. He didn't say anything else and opened the door. He sat us right in front of the entrance and brought water shortly after. Because it was evening and freezing cold with people constantly coming in and out, my friend asked if we could move. He did move us, which was fine. It took about 10 minutes for him to come back to take our order, and the food took a while to come out. The service here is slow. I don't think I'll be returning. Being disrespected before even walking into the restaurant doesn't sit right with me.

Went Saturday before the holiday hoping to experience the holiday speakeasy unfortunately it's only open after 5pm. So we didn't get that experience however, we were still able to order the holiday drinks. The restaurant reminds you of an old shop with a bunch of antiques. But the antiques were Christmas-y. We sat near the back and in this little tree hunt kind of thing. The waiter was kind and we had the crispy rolls and the drunken fried rice! Both were tasty, we even ordered more rolls to go. For our drinks we had the Kappa, Kau, and Mai Hero. The kau was a fan favorite. Parking is street parking we lucked up and found some right in front!

Thanks to a friend's recommendation, we stopped here for a late-night dinner on our way home from a mini road trip. We found street parking without much trouble. The atmosphere: This place is an underground gem! It's adorable and was decorated beautifully for the holidays. There's both bar and table seating, and my friends and I were seated at an elevated, cubby-style table that was super cute. The food: We started with the fried calamari, which was light, crispy, and delicious. It paired perfectly with the sweet-and-sour sauce. The kao soi was the standout for me. It was super flavorful, with a generous portion of noodles. The chicken was tender, and the curry was rich and perfectly balanced with a nice kick of spice. The service: Great service overall. Our server was still in training, but she was genuinely kind and attentive the entire time.

My Noodle & Bar has such a lovely outdoor space and cozy interior. I really love the vibe. While the service can be slow, the people who work here are super kind and that makes up for it. I think I've tended to order the wrong dishes and would be curious to try different things other than what I have ordered or tried from other people. I went for a date night with my fiancé this weekend and we were seated immediately. Do know to get to the host table you have to go down stairs. Normally I'd go for the noodle dish, but I decided to do appetizers as my main. I got the chicken steamed dumplings and Asian tacos. My fiancé got the wild mushroom tofu dish. This is not the restaurant's fault and doesn't affect my review, but do be warned that when we ate outside, a swarm of flies kept coming towards our food. In the past, I ordered the Khao soi, the noodles were different than what I was used to. I found the spicy to be nice and there, but a bit one dimensional. I felt the same about the Asian tacos. The tofu dish was a bit bland. As for the dumplings, they weren't for me. I think if I return I need to try more noodle dishes!

"Whimsical" perfectly captures the charm of this place. The interior is uniquely designed and delightfully quaint, creating such a memorable atmosphere. Both the food and drinks were excellent, and after my second visit, I can confidently say it's consistently great--no complaints at all.

Well. what a cute location. Love the vibe and the food. I wonder what a Karaoke night would be like .. imagining a fun intimate setting. Aslo would like to come back in warmer weather and sit outside. Enjoyed happy hour at the bar and seated dinner after. Intimate service.. everyone was lovely and personable. Food.. dude! Delicious.. get all of those appetizers in the photo .. YUM! Enjoyed Pad Thai and House fried rice for shared entrees. Overall a lovely evening... would like to come back. Just be ready to navigate parking issues and you'll enjoy the experience.

This place is super cute and it's a lowkey speakeasy with this new extension bar in the back. The food was super authentic. The owner was running around as well which was a nice touch. The service was a lil slow and they seem to be a bit understaffed. We did have a little wait for the food but the taste was worth it. The Thai tea was the best I've ever had in my life.

This place is bustling, especially on a Friday and Saturday. If you want to have a seat, definitely call ahead to reserve. We sat at the bar, which had a nice ambience. They're nicely decorated for the holidays. We started with the spicy chicken wings, which honestly was a 10 out of 10 they were so delicious. I got a drink. I believe this was the Bahama mama, but I'm not sure and it was also incredibly delicious and strong. I got the drunken noodle dish which I liked. I wish it was a little spicier however it was still good. The service here was amazing however they were a little slow, but I believe that was because it was so busy.

Oh. My. Goodness! My daughter and her fiancé made reservations for us to celebrate my birthday. It is a very small place with great energy. From the moment we stepped in we were greeted with smiles and great service. The mixed beverages we had were delicious and the food was phenomenal! Portions are large so expect to take some home to enjoy the next day. Will definitely be going back here!

Sun dried beef as the appetizer was amazing! I was so full eating my pad thai with shrimp extra sauce of course! The lady who served us was amazing despite her saying she doesn't serve often! I always love the experience here with the nice Christmas decorations. Min's that the Pad thai noodles are thinner than most places and the pad see ew noodle are a bit thicker. Although pricier than other locations, the vibe and the service is definitely amazing! Parking can be difficult, although a little run to and from your car is worth it to eat food you know will not miss .

Super cute spot that's mostly Thai but also has some Vietnamese. Decent food. Great service. Good prices. Cute, intimate date spot, especially if you can get one of the two covered booths.

LOVED my noodle and bar. The food was absolutely delicious and they were very accommodating of requests. The environment is super cute with amazing decorations. We sat outside which was nice, however there was a large gust of wind that took our table umbrella away. Luckily I was able to grab it and save the day :) Overall great place with great thai food.

So happy to have found this place! It's tucked away from street view a bit, you have to walk downstairs to get inside. You can see the patio set-ups outside on the street. It's so cozy and cute inside, really great romantic date night spot. The service was also very friendly and super fast! And the most important part- the food was amazinggg. Get the duck roll as an app, duck with veggies wrapped in a scallion pancake- 10/10. We also had the fried rice, lo mein and drunken noodles. The drunken noodles were perfectly spicy and chewy. I don't live in Richmond but can't wait to go back so I can visit again!

It was such a fun meal to share, comparing each bite and talking through all the different flavors. The service was excellent. Our waitress was knowledgeable about everything we ordered and made great recommendations. The atmosphere is just as impressive. The decor is simple but thoughtfully elevated, and sitting at the bar area feels like you have stepped out of Richmond and into somewhere like New York City. I also love following Lillian on social media to keep up with their latest specials. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves seafood.

Hats off to the staff at Lillian who continue to be wonderful, but now that they have scrapped…read moretheir dollar oyster lunch specials, the food has absolutely nothing to offer. Like too many restaurants in the Scott's Addition area, this is seafood cooked without finesse and then absolutely brutalized with absurd amounts of palate fatiguing, brash, loud flavors. Every item on the menu endeavors to conceal mediocrity in the quality and handling of the ingredients with explosive, overwhelming additives meant to shock you into submission. Things like black garlic and chili oil, raw garlic, sesame seed oil, and punishing heat are inescapable on the menu, which really says to me loud and clear "we do not understand the appeal of seafood, and might have a fundamental misunderstanding about good food in general." I don't exaggerate when I say these dishes would be improved (setting aside things like inability to properly cook octopus) by scaling back the flavors to 5-10% the loudness level they are currently at, to let the ingredients speak, and to make the dining experience less of a punishing marathon with no relief. I have had much subtler and more skillfully balanced dishes at Indian and Thai restaurants, cuisines known for strong flavor profiles. I'm through listening to these Richmond restaurants trying to excuse simply bad food by claiming "that's the nature of the cuisine." In this case, Lillian claims that dishes characterized by these cacophonous competing flavors is "South American." No it isn't - the person conceptualizing the dishes is just a bad chef who doesn't know what he's doing, and at the prices Lillian charges, that's inexcusable. Drowning every dish in flavors that overwhelm the palate is not a way to respect your ingredients or your diner, and only communicates youth and insecurity. Anyone who's eaten widely and knows their ingredients will rightly feel assaulted and insulted by this overpriced, unskilled fare. To anyone who decides to go anyway: Good luck with the digestive distress, and with the taste that will still be left over in your mouth the next morning, no matter how much you brush your teeth.
