However ordering "thai spicy" isn't "thai spicy", but they have a side kit of spices that you ask for. One is chili oil and the other is chili power, together those can light you up. The food comes out very fast 90% of the time. The atmosphere is electric, it makes you feel like you are in an authentic small Thai restaurant because it is busy and loud and fast pace. Yelp reviews brought me to this cute Thai restaurant. Their dining areas are outdoors on their open patio and downstairs in a decorated basement. On the weekends they have a themed speakeasy with music. Just ask the staff about the location downstairs. The food was delicious. It was much better than our other Richmond Thai experience. From the amount of people dining and waiting this place appears to be a popular choice. Our group had the fresh spring rolls with choice of pork or shrimps and we chose shrimp. It was fresh made and included a tasty chili sauce. Thai basil and various noodle dishes were also eaten. Portions were generous and take out boxes left with us. My only tip is that you think hard before deciding to eat on the patios if it's cold and windy, the umbrellas will attempt to fly away. It can also get chili on a brisk day. For our entrées, we ordered the Bangkok Chicken and the Spicy Lemon. Now for the backstory. Parking is street parking and it's very hard to find. My friend and I found a spot after about 10 minutes. The entrance to the restaurant is downstairs, so you have to walk down a few steps. I have an injured knee, so I was already annoyed knowing it would irritate it. While I was telling my friend "oh no" about the stairs, the server, who I didn't realize worked there at the time, said, "It's fine, it's exercise for you." I was immediately upset and responded that it had nothing to do with exercise but everything to do with my knee. He didn't say anything else and opened the door. He sat us right in front of the entrance and brought water shortly after. Because it was evening and freezing cold with people constantly coming in and out, my friend asked if we could move. He did move us, which was fine. It took about 10 minutes for him to come back to take our order, and the food took a while to come out. The service here is slow. I don't think I'll be returning. Went Saturday before the holiday hoping to experience the holiday speakeasy unfortunately it's only open after 5pm. So we didn't get that experience however, we were still able to order the holiday drinks. The restaurant reminds you of an old shop with a bunch of antiques. But the antiques were Christmas-y. My Noodle & Bar has such a lovely outdoor space and cozy interior. I really love the vibe. While the service can be slow, the people who work here are super kind and that makes up for it. I think I've tended to order the wrong dishes and would be curious to try different things other than what I have ordered or tried from other people. I went for a date night with my fiancé this weekend and we were seated immediately. Do know to get to the host table you have to go down stairs. Normally I'd go for the noodle dish, but I decided to do appetizers as my main. I got the chicken steamed dumplings and Asian tacos. My fiancé got the wild mushroom tofu dish. This is not the restaurant's fault and doesn't affect my review, but do be warned that when we ate outside, a swarm of flies kept coming towards our food. In the past, I ordered the Khao soi, the noodles were different than what I was used to. I found the spicy to be nice and there, but a bit one dimensional. I felt the same about the Asian tacos. The tofu dish was a bit bland. As for the dumplings, they weren't for me. I think if I return I need to try more noodle dishes! read more

This spot is the definition of a hidden gem in Richmond. I know I know; we should totally retire "hidden gem" in 2026. LOL So boomI came in for the food (the noodles were delicious and comforting), but the real surprise is what's tucked away in the back. They have a full speakeasy setup that completely transforms the vibe from a casual eatery to a cool, intimate lounge. The atmosphere is super chill. I also have to shout out the owner, Joel. He was incredibly welcoming and took the time to guide us through a bourbon tasting. Didn't even know that was a thing but I guess it should have been obvious by the massive bourbon cabinet lol. His knowledge and passion for the spirits or bourbon specifically really added to the experience. If you want a place that nails both the dinner and the drinks afterward, this is it. It's so cozy and cute inside, really great romantic date night spot. The service was also very friendly and super fast! And the most important part- the food was amazinggg. The food and ambiance were good but the service was the biggest factor of why I won't return again. We went to happy hour and sat at the bar and were only able to get one drink. It was not the bartenders fault - as he was overwhelmed and there should have been a second bartender. Once we moved outside, things were a bit better but i think we were at the restaurant for 2.5 hours just waiting around for someone to help us. Overall if you are patient and not anxiety ridden i recommend it! Also if you are allergic to shellfish DO NOT go to this restaurant. I love the location and vibes of the place. My husband really likes the back side of the restaurant. The back feels low-key with a bar area that you can sit at and enjoy your drink and foods. There's also an outdoor area and the main dining room. So many options! And the staff were great! Never ran out of water! I got the pad see ew with chicken and it was yummy! Great portion size. My husband got the Phuket noodles and the pineapple cubes were a nice touch to the noodles. If you want additional spice, they have a Thai version of siracha that is slightly tangy and a slow burn. Okay this used to be me and my boyfriend's favorite place to eat. It's pricey but it's usually worth it and we will occasionally order takeout from here when we can afford it and are looking for a quality meal. I have to give them 2 stars though because the last three times I've ordered takeout I have asked explicitly for no spice on every item and for every single entree I feel like they LOADED extra spice on, on top of the normal amount. I mean our mouths are on fire and we can't even enjoy our meal. Some of my friends wanted to go out for karaoke a couple of weeks ago, and they landed on My Noodle & Bar. I've driven by it many times but had no idea it was there, as it's down in a basement off Monument. We sat at the bar before karaoke began and ordered a late dinner. I ordered the Love Fool gin cocktail made with strawberry jam. It was delightful and didn't taste syrupy at all like so many strawberry drinks do.
