My girlfriend and I visited Q rooftop bar a couple weeks ago for date night. It's was a beautiful evening so something with a view was perfect. We entered the Quirky Boutique hotel and the hostess directed us to the back elevators where an attendant had to scan a card to give us access to the elevator. Once we got off the elevator we were greeted by a beautiful 360 view of downtown Richmond. There was a bar and plenty of seating. there was even several tables with umbrellas for shade. We checked out the menu and decided to just have drinks. we ordered lemon drop martinis and was slightly disappointed. Mine was too sour and my girlfriends didn't taste like lemon at all. The bartender was not very friendly at all but we didn't let that ruin our night, but the bugs did. We ended up only staying for about 15 minutes because there were all these flying bugs . they kept landing all over us. Several other guests left as well. This might be the best rooftop bar to offer an amazing 360 view of the city. Come here for sunset is a must if you want to low key night. There' are some interesting signature cocktails, because they are on the roof so they are only using the plastic cups instead of fancy glass but still taste good. The music is a bit mellow so it's good for people to come if they want to chat. Bathroom is a flight down, and the bar closes at 10pm. read more

*Review only based on the Rooftop experience and dranks. The was the first stop of my Girl's Night adventure with one of my close friends. We were easily able to find parking down the end of the street - be sure you know how to parallel park and which roads are one-ways since this is in the city. You will need to walk through the lobby and/or the restaurant through the front or side entrance. You will then go to the back and wait for the elevator to take you to the roof - there was an elevator that went straight to the rooftop and down that evening (I think they may have it set like that for happy hour and/or before the weekend). For our first round of drinks. I got their Purple rain and my friend ordered their Ms. Crenshaw. Purple rain ("Gin, Mint Blackberry, lemon ") and Ms. Crenshaw ("Aperol, Elderflower, prosecco") were both refreshing and almost like sangrias. As you can see in the photos, we were being completely basic and getting views of the drinks on the side of the building and having fun. We were on the 2nd tier of the rooftop and just enjoy the throwback music and company of each other. There was a server that also walked around the 2nd tier and took orders of those who had empty drinks. For our second round, I got the Porch Swing ("Whiskey, Peak shrub, lime, ginger beer") and my friend ordered Letters to Helen ("Bacardi 4 yr, brut sparkling, lime, honey syrup"). The second round was much stronger and most likely got us to our happy place. haha. We got here right around 5:30 so it was not so crowded yet. Service was fantastic and great at getting us another drink. I'm very glad that we didn't have to lose our seats and go all the way back up to the bar to get our refills. I can't wait for the next girls night out, we will be returning to the rooftop again!!! read more

Not big on food; I remember seeing only hot dogs and little finger foods. Their signature cocktails are good and picture worthy, which is perfect for 10th-floor city views that you will want to capture and post. The rooftop of the Quirk Hotel is reservation only but opens for walk-ins at 8 pm ( these were the instructions we received when we arrived ). The hotel lobby is too cute and cozy and has a bar with the same menu found on the rooftop so you can hang out, enjoy that ambiance and then move upstairs, which is what we did. The space upstairs has limited seating, so if you do not arrive early or have an rsvp, you will be waiting a bit. This is truly unnecessary since some people just want to stand around and enjoy the view. The staff was friendly and attentive, and Justin, our bartender, made our delicious drinks. I will be coming back to try the rest of the drinks. read more

This is the Goldilocks of rooftop bars. It's absolutely on trend with string lights, great views and snazzy beverages. But it's not so trendy that you can't get in or can't understand the ingredients on the menu. It's full of all sorts of people, rehearsal dinners, 50th birthday parties, and first dates. The view is the only thing they have going for this spot.... 6 people behind the bar and 2 making drinks. They were very inattentive for the few customers up there. Drinks had little alcohol, served in plastic poolside cups, and taste like pool water. My partner asked for a grey goose martini and it was served in plastic container and tasted like warm bath water. Those drinks are way overpriced and the hotel should be ashamed. Downstairs in the hotel lobby is a different story, at least when we went winter last year. Also, nextdoor at Bar Solita drinks were professionally made by attentive bartenders on a packed evening and many patrons said the same thing about this place. read more

The Quirk hotel is a really cute boutique hotel with the Q Rooftop Bar! The rooftop is decorated well and the view is awesome. They have a wide selection of cocktails and regular drinks alike. You definitely are paying for the views as well as the service at this bar because the drinks (especially the craft cocktails) are pricey! Most craft cocktails were $11/$12 dollars. I got the Fig Fizz and liked it! A little sweet but also a bit bitter. read more

There are lots of rooftop bars in Richmond. Each has its own vibe. My vote goes to the Quirk for elegance, ambiance, views, and comfort. It's close competitors are the Graduate and Cabana, and while higher up (and perhaps a river view at one is a plus), this does not alter the reasons why Quirk's wins for the reasons stated above. I think however that each person may find crowd type/vibe to be a personal preference and therefore might enjoy one better than the other, so here's the good news: Richmond is lucky to have several to choose from. alright let me start with first impressions.. hotel lobby is trying to give a classy, lux vibe when in reality all i felt was dread and regret as i ran my hand along the faux baby pink leather couch. to get to the rooftop bar is a taxing ordeal in itself. come to find out, i was not the only one struggling to find the way. it took 2 tries and a nice employee (shoutout the refrigerator bodied brunette!:) ) who showed me the way. as soon as i walk in the bar, i feel 20 pairs of glaring, pain filled eyes attack me. when i look at the menu, i am flabbergasted by the outrageous prices. $14 for a plastic cup. thank you very much, but nope. read more

This bar has one of best views of the all the rooftop bars in Richmond because you have a straight shot view down broad towards both VCU Monroe park campus (perfect at sunset) and Downtown. The venue is just great. You get to see the entire city from the rooftop. We ordered drinks, my drink was really disgusting, but our server said no problem what can I get you. I switched my drink, which the new drink was great! I did not get charged for the new drink. I'm happy! read more
