She didn't say she wasn't permitted to seat 6 in that space, but maybe that was the case. She snapped when I asked her a question that my sister already asked her, even though I had no way of knowing. "I told your friend that already" with an eyeroll. We contemplated taking a 2 top and then a 4 top elsewhere, but the hostess was so rude we decided to leave. The drinks (Chrismapolitan and Snowball Old Fashioned) were spot on, the truffle fries were tasty, and the holiday vibes were high! Service was fast and friendly. Sorry, what? How have I failed to review The Jasper up until now? That's wild to me, as it's one of my favorite craft cocktail spots in Richmond. I especially love their pop-ups for the holidays. I visited their Dia de los Muertos pop-up this past year immediately following a week in Oaxaca, so it felt very familiar. I've also been to Miracle for Christmas a few times over the years despite how hard it is to get into. I met my now-boyfriend for our first date here, so it'll hold an extra special spot in my heart now. Their drinks are consistently great and strong, and their food selection is pretty good too. Stopped by for a somewhat dark, average noised speakeasy vibe after a not-so-great evening at another restaurant the night before. The staff was very friendly and attentive even though the place was oddly very packed. I came right in time for their Happy Hour and boy was I in for a treat! I ordered the steak tartare, shrimp cocktail, and a Mint Julep. The Mint Julep was good but too strong for my liking. I ordered a Daiquiri instead & it was strong but tasty. The steak tartare was the true star of the show. While I genuinely enjoyed the shrimp cocktail & the house cocktail sauce was incredible, the steak tartare stole my heart. It was served with baguette bread & house mustard. The tartare was very flavorful and bold. It was so plentiful & good, I ordered another round of it. Even the bill was very reasonable (under $40). How often do you find steak tartare not only on a Happy Hour menu, but it's $9 on the HH menu? If/ when I am in Richmond, I would definitely come back to visit. I highly recommend. I was here Wednesday after work to celebrate my birthday with two of my friends. I love this place and didn't realize that this was where I'd been at Christmas. I like how they turn this location into various special themes. This time it was just the regular decor and I really liked it. I am kind of a mixologist at home and really appreciate places that have a good bar selection of mixed drinks/cocktails. I had a Daiquiri and then a Manhattan and both were very tasty and of the size one would expect. One of my friend's drink though was very small and really shouldn't be. It was in a glass that was only just a tad bigger than a shot glass. Otherwise a good experience and parking is street parking so that can be a challenge. What I also love is that the seating is made to provide areas where you can sit more in privacy if you want to. read more

Service has been consistently warm and capable at the bar, and the daily happy hour from 5 to 7 pm keeps the place humming. It is a discreet little spot on West Cary with a loyal following and a line right before open on busy nights. Where it could improve for me is in the glass. Too many builds feel "pre-Death & Co" in structure: base spirit plus mixer, perhaps a juice, and done. They drink clean but a little simple. What's missing is mid-palate intrigue from the kinds of elements that add contour and carry: amari and aperitivi, sherry or vermouth frames, thoughtful bitters architecture, infusions or tinctures that echo the base, fat washes, a touch of saline, a whisper of acid-adjust. Without those layers, several cocktails read front-loaded on spirits and/or sweetness and citrus with not much development after the first sip. They are pleasant in the moment, less compelling to linger over. The vibe and hospitality make it an easy recommendation for a low-key night out, and the happy hour classics are a fair value if you are nearby. If the menu leaned more often into rarer base spirits, modifiers and secondary notes that evolve as the ice melts, this could be a destination for contemplative sipping as well as casual rounds. The holidays are my fave, but there's always a long wait to get in. Pro tip -- when they're doing a waitlist, add your name then hop around Carytown before you're table is ready. The hostess Gina is always very nice, and the bartenders are super friendly and very knowledgeable! I've only had a lackluster experience once recently -- I was seated with a few friends and our server Christina was not friendly with us while we were there. She was very short and rushed us the whole night to order, to take our glasses and to get us our check. After we ordered our last round, we had to go to the bar to get our check. If you're looking for a fun, festive spot this holiday season, Miracle on Cary is a must-visit! It's the Jaspers Christmas bar pop-up that we found out about on social media, and can I say the reviews of it did not exaggerate! The place is completely decked out with Christmas décor, Santa hats on the fans, twinkling lights everywhere, and even the bathroom is decked out in holiday wrapping paper. The ambiance was super cozy and lively, and the service was top-notch. We sat at the bar, which had surprisingly comfy seats (a big plus, as I usually hate bar seating, especially if I plan to spend a while there). We tried the Christmasaurus and the Yippee Ki Yay-MF drinks, which came in the cutest festive cups. The Thanksgiving Leftovers Sub was definitely the highlight for food. It was so tasty and surprisingly filling for a bar snack. The fingerling potatoes with smoked salmon were also yummy and came with a shot of Aquavit which was a fun touch. The only downside? It's busy! We waited 35 minutes on a Tuesday night, so I can't imagine the weekend crowds. But it's totally worth it. All tabs include a 20% gratuity, which makes tipping easy. Went for their Christmas alter ego, Miracle on Cary!This year 2025, it's from Nov 19th-Dec 30th. Me and my boyfriend went the first weekend they started it. We got there at around 6:30pm and there was a line outside. But we got in after about 10-15 min because we were a party of 2. Bigger groups will have to wait longer (they allow reservations for only one single large party table - it usually gets booked weeks before miracle on cary opens) The decorations were sooooooo cute! A lot of thought went into the little details. We ordered (with 0-10 ratings): - Charcuterie Board (we asked for no pickles) 8.5/10 - Milk and cookies 7/10 - Parfait 10/10 Drink: - Christmapolitan 7.5/10 The charcuterie board was delicious! Definitely filling for two people so if you have more than that, get 2 boards or another appetizer. The milk and cookies were good. But if you want a really good dessert, the parfait was AHMAZINGGG. I'm already trying to figure out how to make a dupe for at home. The drink was good! I wish it had more cranberry flavoring though. read more

Fantastic tiki drinks and other cocktails. It can get very crowded on the weekends and can be loud inside but it is the best cocktail in the carytown area. During the holiday season they put up a ton of Christmas decorations. It's fun to visit during this time but be prepared for an around the block line. read more

I loved the Miracle on Cary experience, it totally lived up to everything I've seen on social media. We got a little corner table with a nice wrap-around couch, it felt so cozy and intimate! Loved the decorations and the music, it was so Christmassy. I thought the cocktail names were pretty clever! I ended up ordering the Rudolph's Replacement (non-alcoholic), my friend got the Jingle Bell Nog, and my other friend got the Secret Santa. A friend and I stopped in for a drink at the bar and ended up staying for 3 - laughing and chatting for hours. We came back with our husbands a few weekends later and had A BLAST! This time sitting in the lounge area in the back. Each time there was a long wait but the experience has been well worth it! Food/drinks - Make sure you eat first because the drinks are fairly strong and the "food" is more akin to snacks. I do wish the menu was more robust/filling. I find the drinks fairly unique but always delicious. The bartenders usually provide great recommendations when I'm unsure what to get. read more

Currently a holiday pop up bar the Jasper (AKA Miracle on Cary) features a super fun holiday themed cocktail bar. Like stepping into a Hallmark movie, this place is decked out in vintage and classic holiday decor! You truly feel transported when you sit down and look around! The menu has an array of holiday inspired cocktails in the cutest holiday barware (which is also conveniently available for purchase). There are the usual suspects like Hot Buttered Rum and unique libations like "Yippee Ki Yay MF". Food is also appropriately themed to resemble a holiday party with snack and small plate options like "Those Grape Jelly Meatballs". Warning, there is a velvet rope lining the sidewalk to control how crowded it gets. You may have to wait. Smaller parties definitely get in sooner. The cocktails were delicious and they had a fun assortment that were served in decorative glasses. We ordered some food and everything we ordered was tasty. I recommend coming when it opens or around 7:30 or later. The staff is incredibly gracious, attentive and we had a relaxed easy going evening. The reviews about getting in line early are no joke, make sure you show up 25-30 min early AT LEAST during their popup events. Went here last week with a group of friends. The TLDR is: This was my first time and will absolutely be my last. They close at 12 and we came in around 11. I immediately knew the vibe was going to be off when we entered, as we received a less than warm welcome and noticed that one of the workers was literally frowning as they watched up walk in. We started with one waitress, but eventually it shifted to a different blue haired person who had the worst attitude I've ever encountered while patronizing a business. My drink, an espresso martini was one of the first to be sat down and I could tell by looking at it that it wasn't right. It was a light amber color, closer to that of maple syrup than espresso. I felt bad speaking up, but I also don't think I should've paid $15 for something so poorly made. I revived a snarky "OKAY!!" and eye roll and an abrupt walk away from the same blue haired person. They didn't give me a chance to order something else, or even apologize, they just took it an walked off. I'd tasted my friends drink and enjoyed it, so when they finally came back, I got the same one she had. What a mistake I made to think that ordering a second drink after complaining was a good idea. I'm almost 100% sure they left the alcohol. Everyone at the table noticed and commented on how rude this person was. You literally could not pay me to come back here. read more

One of the best cocktail spots in town. The Jasper just oozes cool. Every drink here is made with love and intention. The bartenders really know their stuff and do a great job at drink presentation. I'm not a big cocktail person, but when I come here I want to be one. It's not often I can say a cocktail bar inspires me. If you haven't heard of it, everyone is a huge fan of their Christmas pop-up, Miracle on Cary. It can be a very long wait to get into this pop-up, but I think every Richmonder should try it once within their first three years of living here. During Christmas this is one of the best decorated places and has the best xmas themed drinks. This place is still amazing other times of the year. Two of my favorite drinks here are their nitro bourbon and ginger cocktail and the humuhumunukunukuapua'a cocktail. The first has a nice warm kick and the second is very refreshing. The Jasper will have quite a few pop-ups during the year. It's a local place with a lot of charm and great cocktails. I highly recommend checking it out. read more
