Get Tight Lounge is honestly such a hidden gem by the VCU Monroe Park campus. You would never expect how cool it is just walking by from the outside. The neon lights, ambiance, and overall vibe inside are so good. I went with friends on a night they had a live band, and that was definitely the highlight. It's such a cool spot to discover up and coming Richmond artists in a really fun and intimate setting. Even when it started sprinkling outside, we stayed and still had the best time. The beef sliders were great, the service was super friendly, and both the indoor and outdoor seating have their own vibe. Definitely excited to come back this summer. read more

Decent food and drinks in the heart of the Fan. The setting has a dozen or so seats in the bar area along with half a dozen small tables. There are some outdoor tables as well. There is a unisex rest room. The service was very friendly. We came for the pit beef and really enjoyed the sandwiches. So nice not to have to drive to Maryland for this treat! The side of pinto beans was good but not outstanding. The crab dip was overly salty and probably helps customers decide to order that second beer. The dip comes with some nice crusty bread. This is not a lounge, it is a bar! Long bar with stool and opposite is the booths. They do have an outside area where concerts take place. I really loved this aera. 1. Service: very fast and nice. 2. Drinks are mediocre. It is not some fancy place, simple beer and wine and the mixed drinks aren't good. 3. Food: bad We couldn't down any of the things we got including the sandwich, burger or the fries. And I got diarrhea 2 hours later! Don't eat here! 4. Came here on a Saturday night with two friends and we had a great time! I am partial because I am from Baltimore and stumbling upon a Baltimore bar in Richmond was a treat! The DJ they had that night was great, the vibes were good all around and the bartender was very attentive which was a feat given how crowded it was. I went with the pit beef sandwich and fries, which you had to purchase separately. Both arrived on the colder side, and the beef was chewy. After an amazing concert, my friends found this place on a whim to get drinks and food at to end the night: it looks like a little party "hole in the wall" type place but those places are usually the ones with the best food. Our bartender/server was Mile and he was awesome. He was quick, helpful, and got us whatever we needed. I got a midori sour and I never had midori before so I wanted to try it. It was kind of like a sweet and sour soda taste and it was really good. The wings were a good size and super tender. The lemon pepper wasn't super strong with the lemon flavor, it was very balanced and the honey old bay was surprisingly not too sweet. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of seasoning. The ahi tuna was delicious! They cooked it similar to salmon consistency and the sauce on it gave it a nice bite. Everything was amazing, whoever was in that kitchen was doing their thing! We had a great time, it was good vibes. Definitely stop there if you're in Richmond downtown. read more

Taylor said over the phone I could bring my dogs back to the outdoor area via the side and it's really Texas back there--full stage, plenty of seating, shade or sun as you like. Stopped in at Get Tight Lounge after a night at the Altria Theatre. The place was packed and had the fantastic buzz of a happy crowd. The lighting is very selfie-friendly and sets the mood for a fun, chill space. Every service member we encountered was friendly and helpful. We got one of the few tables in the front and ordered drinks quickly. I got the horchata milkshake and didn't love it. I was going to finish it because I made the choice, but when the waitress realized I didn't love it, she swapped it out for another drink without charging me. A true kindness in this era of inflation. I got the Pit Beef sandwich and only remembered I needed a picture after I devoured it. We finished with the bread pudding, which was comfy and delicious. This bar has a lot of personality. It has street parking available on the street right in front of it and adjacent streets. It is located near the Virginia Commonwealth University campus. It has two sections. The first is a main area with bar and dining room seating. They have a television over the bar that was playing a movie while I was there. The cool thing about this area is that the front opens up and makes it an open air spot during nice weather. The other section is an outdoor area with seating and a stage. They had a band playing there during my visit and you had to purchase a ticket to sit out there while they were playing. I like that you had the option of just sitting in the main area, and not paying a cover charge, if you were not interested in hearing the band. The main area is a very colorful spot and I liked its lighting, how it was decorated and its vibe. They serve beer and signature cocktails along with a lite menu that includes sandwiches, soups, salads, grilled cheeses, and fries. I had already ate before I came here so, I had a couple of drinks. Their Happy Hour runs from 4:20 (get it?) to 6PM. I missed it though. The place is known to host events from time to time like karaoke and rock, paper, scissors tournaments. I ordered a Damiana Punch, a Chilly Willy and a spicy margarita. The drinks were very small. They were served in a cup just bigger than a bathroom paper cup. The Chilly Willie was like a boozey coffee concoction. It was ok. I like the Damiana Punch the best. It had a tropical taste. The spicy margarita was good. It had a lot of kick just like I like it. It was probably the spiciest drink I ever had. As I mentioned, the three drinks were small and I felt absolutely nothing after putting them down. It could have been water and I would have felt the same. The staff there was friendly enough, but I think the bartender overcharged me for my drinks though. This place is a VIBE! A really retro, cool, 70s, aesthetic dream vibe. I came for their $1 Rappahannock oyster event and another time for lunch. It's not often I can say I'm obsessed with a bathroom. They have one with a disco ball and another with Farrah Fawcett. I love their bar's design. The wooden paneling and the way the lights are set up on the bar are really trendy. The outside is even better. It's great for all seasons because they have ample heating lamps and fire pits. It seems like such a cozy place to watch a live show. I haven't had a chance to attend a show yet, but all my friends love their shows here. The people who work here are really cool. I love the owners. It was fun talking to them at the oyster event. They were the ones shucking the oysters. The oysters were delicious. They have an amazing lunch special. For $10 you can get your choice of pit sandwich, hand cut fries, and a soft drink. Bar Food with A Great Space Are you a college student with a night to spare with some buddies? A young adult looking for a place to get a drink before heading to the Altria Theatre? Do you just need a place to relax your mind and listen to some tunies in an excellent space? It's hard to argue against the Get Tight Lounge. Contrary to its name, the Get Tight Lounge isn't all that tight at all... once you consider the outside area in the back. The inside is a bit cramped, but the outside "yard" space hidden in the back is where the real fun happens. With heaters, a stage for a band, and plenty of seats, it's made for a party. The server we had was light-hearted and was ready to meet our demands with a plethora of recommendations. We thouroughly enjoyed her. The drinks were fine; nothing special. When we return, we'll probably just stick to beer. Don't go here expecting it to be like a speakeasy dripping with designer cocktails. This is a college bar with college drinks, so beer it up! I don't recommend the food. All in all, it's now my go-to place before seeing a show at the Altria! Give it a try. read more

They say never order from somewhere you don't know when you have a light night hunger hit. Well, I take that with a grain of salt now. We ordered from here as this was one of the few places open that wasn't gas station or fast food. Slightly skeptical as pit beef is a Baltimore, MD staple and not everyone can do it just. Since I don't eat beef, the smoked turkey made me leery as it can be dry, most times. This was not the case. The meat was juicy and sliced deli thin. You could tell it was not store bought. No pictures as I was so hungry, that there was no time. The fries are hand cut, skin on. Love those types of fries. Perfectly seasoned. I would definitely order from here again. The bartenders are super friendly and always whip up amazing cocktails. The music is always on point, whether it's a DJ spinning the hottest tracks, their own playlist or a live band rocking the house. They've got everything from karaoke nights to themed parties. The food is surprisingly good too, especially the peel-and-eat shrimp; my fave! And don't forget to check out their holiday menu - it's a real treat! The gingerbread espresso martini was yummmm, and the spiked hot chocolate was deliciously delightful. There are non-alcoholic adaptations as well. I made semi finals for the rock paper scissors tournament! This place is great. It's small but I wouldn't call it cramped it was pretty comfortable. I liked the dark/ colorful lighting and candles on the tables. Everyone there seemed to know each other too which was fun, it was a good atmosphere overall. Drinks range from cheap to reasonably priced. My friend got the chilly willie which was pretty good. It had Blanchard's coffee, horchata and something chocolatey in it. Mostly coffee and chocolate flavor, pretty good! The small was enough but they offer a large with a cup you get to keep, too. I didn't try any food yet but it looks great. In terms of events I think this place is pretty active. It was my first time there but their instagram has a lot of info about upcoming stuff. Picked up our daughter at the airport from Boston. Thought we'd show her the bright lights of Richmond and found this restaurant. We were ferociously hungry and their menu was pure magic. An OG, a fried chicken salad, fries and IBC rootbeer. I'm usually timid about dressing my burger but this guy had new flavors, sauce, and pleasantly goopy. Finger-lickin' good, for sure.
