I love Wonderland's vibe! It's the type of place that would likely be eerie to see in the daylight, but at night it's a dive in the best of ways. I'd say avoid it if you have a phobia against clowns, otherwise get ready for a trippy, chill vibe. It's located on Main Street in Shockoe Bottom, but don't let the late night police trolling the area deter you. Inside, there's metal music, grit, friendly bar staff, and pretty good drinks. I can't say I've enjoyed them all -- some on their menu are waaaay too sweet for me -- but their lemon drop is always a good choice. It's also a good place for a good gin and tonic. Wonderland is definitely a gem, and I'm sure I'll be back soon.

First off I've driven past Wonderland a few times and always wondered exactly what it was. After I got out of the show I decided I was going to check it out since it was right near the public parking lot that I used. I have to say I am really glad that I did as I walked in I literally felt like I was walking through the door to Wonderland like Alice in Wonderland. Each corner of the bar is filled with Curiosities that will ignite your imagination from the table that's covered in Frank Sinatra memorabilia and quotes to the clowns on the wall everywhere you look you'll see something new and probably will each time you come in there discover something that you didn't see the time before. The service was fantastic I told the gentleman behind the bar that I had a long drive home and couldn't drink and he was more than willing to serve me something that was not alcoholic and make sure I was taken care of. To my knowledge They don't serve food but if you're really hungry there is a pizza place next door. However if you're in the mood for tasty drinks, wonderful service, a distinctly unique ambience, and some of the best punk music in the area this is your place! I hear tell they even have space for live punk music to be played I haven't seen a show yet there but I definitely want to come check it out!

5 star Five Bar I would say that you can find the best old fashion in Richmond here, as well as the best customer service. It's an immersive art & drinking experience

    False advertising. Unacceptable

Punk bands, plastic torsos hanging from the ceiling, and lightning bar service. Yes, though some of the decorations seem out of place.

The bar was getting full, but there were still a few tables left to choose from. This is a dive, similar to Poe's Pub, so if that's not your scene, don't come here. That said, we really like the character of this place, even if it smells a little funky upstairs. It adds to the character and charm, or at least, that's what we tell ourselves. The same bartender as usual (still don't know his name) helped us. They do have a sour beer. It's not as fruity as I like, though, still passable. (Seriously, Patrick Henry's, y'all need to order some from Texas and Oklahoma sours for the real deal; Martin House Brewing Co. in Ft Worth does them so right). Anyway, we ordered the goat cheese bread appetizer (warm apple butter, goat cheese, and sunflower seeds = immense pleasure). For entrees, I grabbed the Hot Chicken Pizza (hot sauce and pickles!), and my partner went for the chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries. There was so much food that we had leftovers, as usual. They heated up well in the air fryer and were nearly as good. DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE. I will admit, it does look slightly seedy, but the food here is magnificent. The pizza was thin, crispy, and full of delicious flavor. I swear, the chefs here know what they are doing with their menu. It's simple, yet elegant. The appetizers are simple, yet they easily compete with The Brooklyn and Pinky's apps, for example, which are more affordable and in a more relaxed environment. Do yourself a favor and get the goat cheese. It sings. The customers here are chill and interesting, and the bartender is calm and cool; he never seems out of sorts, even when the bar is full with a line out the door. I wholeheartedly recommend Patrick Henry's. We have been here twice now, and the service and food have been excellent both times (Sept 2025, May 2026).

The cauliflower wings were HUGE and the whole table enjoyed them. My partner got the vegan artichoke ("GWARtichoke") burger with tofu ricotta and that was awesome too. And they have a parking lot which is so convenient. Did not love the plastic silverware in little disposable packs. (For dining in, real metal utensils are much appreciated pleeeease). Service wasn't super friendly but maybe it's part of the GWAR schtick (they weren't mean at all, just not the most hospitable). We didn't mind anyway. We actually wondered if it was supposed to be a "Dicks Last Resort " kinda vibe. (The waiter was just this side of rude). The food was ok. The only thing we couldn't get down was the pretzel. Liverpool was playing and I imagine it's a great space to watch this if that's your speed. Sunday lunch menu had a good mixture of things. I was drawn into the special, which was a pork belly quiche with Irish cheese and green onions. This was ultimately quite fine. Big quiche fan but this wasn't my favorite crust nor my favorite cheese. And if I hadn't been told there was meat in it I'm not sure I would have noticed. The side salad had a nice balsamic dressing. What was most bothersome, though, was the size of the quiche. It was cheap enough but not really a lunch potion. Wish I had gone with a sanwich. Drinks were good-pretty standard. The service was astounding and everyone was so nice. Probably wouldn't come back for the food but if you want to watch some football (soccer) it's a nice option.

From the outside, the building has this classic warehouse vibe that fits right in with the historic feel of the area. There's a big sign so you can't really miss it, and the overall look is super inviting if you're into that old-school industrial style. When you up to the entrance, you'll go up the stairs to find the staff checking your tickets. Once you're inside, the place opens up into a big, open floor plan with a solid mix of standing room and a few spots to sit along the wall. The layout works well for concerts, the sightlines are good, and everything feels close to the stage even if you're not right up front. The inside keeps that warehouse feel going. It's exposed brick, high ceilings, just a bit gritty in a cool way. The bar is off to the side and stretches pretty long, so grabbing a drink was quick! Bartenders were friendly and the drink selection covers the basics. Nothing wild, but you'll find everything you need for a good night out.
