We love Beaucoup. We come here a lot. Walking distance for us. Awesome happy hour. Great food. Intimate. Always a great RVA vibe

Roast chicken

Always a 10/10 experience at Beaucoup; from the friendly staff, to the cozy intimate atmosphere, and their phenomenal food, you can't really go wrong! Oysters on the half shell are a must; they're always fresh, salty, flavorful! The drinks are stiff (my favorite being a dirty martini!), more on the boozy side, but wonderful as well. Went last night and ordered the roast chicken; I never order chicken when going to restaurants but this was outstanding. The green sauce, persillade, was herbaceous, bright, and the perfect sauce to tie the whole dish together. Love Beaucoup, can't wait to go back :)

Mussels a la cape cod

This was my first experience having raw oysters, and I loved it! We got to try the entire gamut of oyster varieties they had. We also had some bread and fries with garlic aioli. My favorite dish was probably the mussels a la cape cod though; I wanted to just drink the beer broth! The service was really great as well. I would totally come back.

We're so glad we stopped in! Beaucoup had awesome cocktails, great oysters, and fun mains in a really intimate space. We got one of the "reserve cocktails" and one of the ones at the top of the menu. The "welcome home" was a tropical but not overpowering slice of paradise, while the reserve cocktail "who's who" was a great blend of michters, cynar, and montenegro that tasted like a more nuanced boulevardier. Super tasty! We stopped in for a lighter dinner, and got a selection of the daily oysters (with hot sauce, mignonette, and a horseradish/cocktail sauce combo... loved the choices!), the kale Caesar, and split the burger. All was really great! The Caesar had a great nuttiness and the burger was well done. The fries were also super tasty and had great flavor: a can't miss! We did have room for dessert, and I'm glad we did! The apple cake was super flavorful and the apples in it were still super firm and had great texture. We're so glad we made it!

Cannot recommend this spot enough for a fun date night! The oysters are incredible, and this is coming from someone who was extremely on the fence about coming and trying raw oysters. We started with one of each option and then ordered a second plate of our favorites. They came out quickly, but we never once felt rushed! My fiancé and I foolishly went here for dinner, which of course it was not quite filling enough seeing as we focused on the oysters. So, my one suggestion is to plan to visit Beaucoup as an appetizer sort of restaurant. For just myself and my fiancé, who shared 12 oysters, an order of fried oysters, bread, & a bottle of wine: our bill was roughly $140. Great spot!

Tuna Tartare

This place draws you in with that $1 oyster special - and keeps you there with some incredible drinks ($6 beers, $8 martinis during HH too) and food items beyond that. Their menu is simple, comedic (the names are so fun - "a crispy egg in these trying times"), and fluid. The pictures I am posting are likely not available anymore - but they were pretty dang satisfying. The tuna tartare was deliciously appetizing - tasted so fresh with perfectly crispy thin bread to go with it. The aioli that comes alongside the fries is addictingly tangy. Even the complimentary bread they serve is delicious. Drinks were delicious - and overall everything just felt "higher-end" even though the bill (during HH) was actually fairly reasonable. Reasonable service despite the massive crowd they had to deal with - appreciate them fitting us in without a reservation. Lastly, so clean and modern-looking - with a bit of a sailor-vibe to it. Perfect for a seafood forward restaurant.

Beaucoup is always a lovely experience! I've been a few times, but this past week I had a reservation for a large 9 person party. I initially made the reservation for 6 but had to add a few leading up to the day, and they were patient and accommodating. We also hit a snag and some of our party had the wrong time and were 30 minutes late. The staff remained patient and communicated with us along the way to make sure we were okay on time so we could enjoy our meal and didn't rush us at all. Cocktails and food are always delicious, but I can't say enough good things about the service! Beaucoup will continue to be a Richmond staple for me and my friends!

Raw oysters, Blue Points along the top and Minnie Pearls along the bottom.

Are you serious? This place is a GEM. Arrived at roughly 5:45pm on a Friday, just after HH concluded (darn). Although the restaurant is quaint and only offers ~30 seats, we were seated immediately. But, the place was popping! We ordered some cocktails to start. I tried the 'Back to Basics' which features blanco tequila, Aperol, lemon, passion fruit, and habanero. It's nicely balanced and not overly sweet (which I really appreciate) and it had a nice kick to it from the pepper. I really enjoyed it - so much so that I ordered a second. My husband enjoyed the 'Off the Wall,' which I also thought was good, but he opted for champs for his second round, so do with that what you will. We enjoyed two dozen oysters (we are oyster fanatics) and especially loved the Blue Points. The Minnie Pearls were also enjoyed. If you are interested in the gougeres, I would opt to order these with your raw oysters if you plan on enjoying both. Otherwise, it's basically just like little bread bites without any sauce. They were the only thing we had that I wasn't very impressed by and it really just made me want more oysters. We really enjoyed the Panisse with Calabrian Chili Aioli and I'm very glad we took a chance and tried them. They were different but tasted similar in flavor to sausage - a vegetarians DREAM. The frites were delicious too, and I actually ended up preferring to dip them in the aioli that came with the Panisse rather than the garlic aioli they came with. The star of the show (besides the raw oysters) was the Scallop Roll. I read many reviews before our visit that stated this dish was a must have and now I see why. It was DIVINE - perfectly chilled on the classic buttered roll that you would expect with a lobster roll and the salad was perfectly made with fresh chives. So fresh, slightly sweet, and absolutely delicious. Now I see what all the rave is about and I plan to continue to enjoy this dish each time I visit. Overall, our bill for everything was $185 after tax and before tip. We really enjoyed our dinner at Beaucoup and plan to add this lively seafood spot to our list of favorite date night spots in Richmond.

I don't even like oysters, and I'm still enamored by Beaucoup. This intimate bar took over the Commercial Taphouse space and clearly put in the work to renovate and elevate the ambiance. They recently opened to much fanfare, for good reason. Right now they're not accepting reservations, but the wait wasn't terrible at all (roughly 50 minutes during primetime on a Saturday night). They take down your phone number so you can migrate elsewhere while you wait, and they call when you're next in line, so you have time to get back without losing your spot. The tables are extremely close, like so close that they have to be moved to let the person on the booth side in and out. If that's not your vibe, maybe skip or come at an off-peak time. They have bar seating as well, but they do not have seat backs, which I cannot tolerate in my old age with a creaky back. Service was great for the most part. At one point our server took my order and then left when my friend was ready to order too, but I think that was just opening weekend jitters and also it's fairly loud in there. It didn't take her long to come back either. I ordered one of their signature drinks to drink, the Off the Wall gin cocktail, to start. It was well done, very refreshing, and not overpoweringly boozy. For food, I ordered the Comte cheese, which came with the mini pickles whose name escapes me, some bread, and some tangy mustard. It was so good. A very mild cheese. My friend had an herbal cheese dip with chips that I didn't like quite as much. I also ordered the fries with garlic aioli. They tasted so familiar. I feel like they must be duck-fat fries even though the menu didn't specify. Either way, they were tasty. For my meal, I ordered the flounder filet, which came in a room-temperature soft-boiled egg sauce. In theory that sounds disgusting, in actuality, it was SO GOOD. Like the ideal complement to the perfectly cooked fish. I had a great first impression all in all. The only downfall was that partway through our meal, a couple sat next to us and the woman had bathed in perfume before going out. Please don't be that person. Anyway, I'm sure I'll be back!

I love Beaucoup beaucoup!! Grisette's creations always brings a taste of European life to Richmond. I adore their wine patio at Jardin, their delicious food at Grisette, and now their divine seafood and cocktails at Beaucoup. I just visited on their grand opening night and had a blast. We were a group of three and decided to go family style. Here's what we got: Off the Wall: This gin cocktail is delicious! I don't like when my cocktails taste mostly like the liquor used in them, so this was a great pick for me. The ginger shined and it was pretty floral and light. I really liked it. Skeleton Key AND Back to the Basics: My friend got these because she's a mezcal and tequila girlie. She loved both of these. We both liked the spiciness in the back to the basics. Dirty Martini: My other friend loved this so much she got three. Yes they were that good. A dozen raw oysters: Wow I love oysters! And they have really good ones here. Tonight they had lynnhaven fancies, gigamotos, blue points, and shooting points. We all agreed that the gigamotos were the best. Scallop roll: You must get this! It's so refreshing and delicious. The scallops are cooked perfectly and are light and refreshing. The milk bread it comes on is a dream combo. The chips on the side are also yummy. Mussels marinière: I'm drooling thinking about the sauce. It came with unlimited bread. It was an incredible focaccia with toasted butter. The mussels were yummy too. Soooo good. Bluefin tuna crudo: The nuts and apples really elevated this dish. The other dishes we got were the main stars, but the crudo played a strong supporting role. Dessert: I'm blanking on the same of our dessert, but it was this incredible chocolate mousse pudding with peanuts and chocolate crumble. You have to check out Beaucoup. The service is incredible, we laughed nonstop with our waitress. My friends and I had a blast catching up over amazing food. Highly recommend trying this place.

Every time I go to Beaucoup I get to try something new. They change up their drinks and food pretty frequently and I have not been disappointed yet. It's a small restaurant so on busy nights you'll likely need a reservation. They have a happy hour with $1 oysters from 4-5:30 on weekdays! It's a little pricey otherwise, but worth it in my opinion.

The Always and Never cocktail with some fresh oysters. Yum.

In town on a work trip and I used Yelp to find a nice late-night drink and snack. Great cocktails and fresh oysters: Is there anything else one needs in life? Maybe some caviar? Oh wait, they have that too! Great music, great vibes, friendly and accommodating staff. This place feels like a dive bar in Europe and I'm all for it. Love this place.

Went for a solo date adventure. I sat at the bar and had great service. The bartender was attentive and super polite. I had two drinks while I was there - both very complex in terms of flavor. The wine menu really caught my eye but I'll save that for the next visit. Keep in mind, the menu changes! I ended up getting roasted oysters and corn ribs. Both were amazing. The oysters had shredded fried leeks which and butter. So good! Wouldn't back and get a whole dozen. The corn ribs were also super tasty. I have some leftover that I cannot wait to devour. I will for sure be back!

On both occasions I ate in the upstairs dining area & I really enjoyed being able to look out their windows & observe the hustle & bustles of Broad Street while dining. The music that played in the background while we dined was the perfect aural companion to a down home Southern cuisine centered meal. As you know, I love when the music in the restaurant compliments the cuisine & Lillie Pearl's playlist is top notch. During our dining time, we ordered their Smoked Wings as our appetizer. The wings were perfectly seasoned & visually appealing. However, I found them to be a bit dry & overcooked for my taste. My dining companion, however, had no problem with the wings texture. She enjoyed them very much. For my main meal, I ordered their Wild Game Burger[a mixture of Waygu Beef, Bison & Wild Boar] with a side order of Fries. The burger was cooked perfectly. It was well seasoned & juicy. The fries were delicious. They were crispy and also perfectly seasoned. I could have eaten a whole plate of just the fries alone. I ordered a cocktail to complement my meal, the Sweetest Thing. It was bright, crisp & a perfect drink for my food. As for Customer Service, Our server was courteous & attentive & knowledgeable about any menu changes we needed to be aware of. Also of note for me was that I had a reservation I needed to change to an earlier time slot & the staff was able to accommodate my request expediently. I also appreciated the fact that they informed me in advance that they were still on the Lunch menu & not dinner as my initial reservations had requested. I find that type of honesty & transparency refreshing & is definitely one of the reasons I will ALWAYS be a loyal Lillie Pearl customer.

Like too many restaurants in the Scott's Addition area, this is seafood cooked without finesse and then absolutely brutalized with absurd amounts of palate fatiguing, brash, loud flavors. Every item on the menu endeavors to conceal mediocrity in the quality and handling of the ingredients with explosive, overwhelming additives meant to shock you into submission. Things like black garlic and chili oil, raw garlic, sesame seed oil, and punishing heat are inescapable on the menu, which really says to me loud and clear "we do not understand the appeal of seafood, and might have a fundamental misunderstanding about good food in general." I don't exaggerate when I say these dishes would be improved (setting aside things like inability to properly cook octopus) by scaling back the flavors to 5-10% the loudness level they are currently at, to let the ingredients speak, and to make the dining experience less of a punishing marathon with no relief. I have had much subtler and more skillfully balanced dishes at Indian and Thai restaurants, cuisines known for strong flavor profiles. I'm through listening to these Richmond restaurants trying to excuse simply bad food by claiming "that's the nature of the cuisine." In this case, Lillian claims that dishes characterized by these cacophonous competing flavors is "South American." No it isn't - the person conceptualizing the dishes is just a bad chef who doesn't know what he's doing, and at the prices Lillian charges, that's inexcusable. Drowning every dish in flavors that overwhelm the palate is not a way to respect your ingredients or your diner, and only communicates youth and insecurity. Anyone who's eaten widely and knows their ingredients will rightly feel assaulted and insulted by this overpriced, unskilled fare. To anyone who decides to go anyway: Good luck with the digestive distress, and with the taste that will still be left over in your mouth the next morning, no matter how much you brush your teeth.
