This place is soooooooo good. It is located in Jackson Ward on Broad. It is tiny, chic, yet delicious.

Saw good reviews for this place so decided to try it with a few friends. Walked in as it opened at 10am on a Sunday morning. A few people were in front of us; we were seated after ~5 minutes. The restaurant was quaint. The air conditioning was perfect for this extremely hot weather; it was even chilly at our spot. Our server Anika was personable. She told us that the restaurant was closed for a few days so a few items on the menu were not available like the short rib hash, rosemary white bean hummus, and other food item. An ingredient of SereniTea was also not available. We waited for an hour before our food was served. While waiting, we were told a few things by our server. First, after about ~30 minutes of waiting, we were told that a few orders from other tables were being completed and that our orders would be soon ready. After ~15 more minutes, we were told that the omelet was being prepared. Food was alright. Classic breakfast was fine. Crab cake benedict was also okay. The skillet potatoes were flavorful and cooked nicely. Vaquero omelet had a gamey hint. We also requested for coffee refills but were told a few things again. One was that they were brewing the coffee already. After following up, we were told that they had to change the coffee machine. The experience here was disappointing. Clear communication would have been appreciated. They could have told us that their kitchen was slow today to set clear expectations at the start. Instead of that, we were told different reasons for the delay in food and a very basic thing such as coffee. It felt like we were being avoided. By the time we left, we were there for 2 hours. With the extremely slow service and poor communication, the auto gratuity of 20% was not only unwarranted but more so, insulting. In the first place, gratuity should be freely given. read more

I came here for a birthday brunch on a Saturday with a friend. We sat at the bar, which is pretty cute, and there are also plenty of tables lining the back wall. If you're sitting toward the front, there's a nice window to look out onto the street (Sidenote: it's on a very busy street and requires parallel parking.) The waitstaff was friendly and nice; you know, attentive and engaged in small talk with us. For food, I ordered the breakfast potatoes, which are the fried potatoes cubes. They were a bit too salty for my taste. I also had the sausage, which was pretty good--it was more like a sliced almost hot-dog style. I got a side of jam for my bread, and it was pretty good. I am going to say some things, and I feel like you may think you know what I mean, but you really need to experience it for yourself to truly understand. The biscuits and gravy were scrumptious, seriously delectable. I wish I could more adequately describe what I mean. Once that warm pork gravy touched my tongue, I knew I had made the right choice. My mouth waters even now simply thinking about those buttery, flaky biscuits. (I reheated my leftovers in the skillet, and they were just as tasty) The server was attentive and kind, also she gave solid tips on what to order. Clearly an experienced young woman. The restaurant accent walls in the nook where we sat were a bright mint color with some attractive wall art and hangings. I overheard the bartender speaking to a patron that the art is from a local Richmonder. (It is very intriguing) The atmosphere was calm in the morning around 11:00, and the brunch vibes reminded me of a cafe white noise playlist. I forgot to take pictures, but we all had a blast while we were there. Everyone liked their menu selections. Dinner update: We came back for dinner about a week later. I ordered the Peruvian Chicken Fries for our appetizer, and for an entree, I tried the Double Smash Burger and sauteed vegetables. The burger was okay. The flavor was nothing like the brunch items. The vegetables were fantastic, as were the chicken fries. The Peruvian dip accompaniment was mouthwatering. We used it to dip some fries in to great effect, too. There are some servers who are much better than the others. The woman who helped us at brunch was extraordinary. Tonight's server was less on top of things, and all in all, she did okay. She seemed less experienced, so I'm sure she'll improve in time. I recommend that you must try this place if you are a breakfast or brunch fan. The dinner selection is okay. We had a wonderful dinner at Sweet P's! The space is small and cozy, but tables are well-spaced so conversation is easy. Local art dots the walls, and the rafters have a lot of faux greenery. The service was relaxed and efficient. Food is generally excellent, and we tried a LOT of it for 3 people. Appetizers: Brussels sprouts- crispy, tender, sweet and spicy. Delicious, and a very generous portion. Chicken fries - Peruvian sauce is the bomb. The chicken fries themselves were tender inside, crispy outside, but would have been better without so much chili powder seasoning. But oh that sauce... Crab cakes - Wow. Two huge crab cakes full of sweet, lump crab, with just a kiss of Old Bay seasoning. Only change I'd make is to tell the chef to skip the pile of lettuce garnish and serve with lemon wedges. Caesar salad - beautiful, plentiful, and everything you want in a Caesar. The roasted lemon half added a bright touch to the salad. Entrees: Smash burger - delicious burger with a bun that holds up to the saucy, cheesy mess inside. The hand cut fries were out of this world delicious. No ketchup required. My only suggestion is put just a little more char on the patties. A very satisfying dish. Short rib sandwich - tender short ribs on crisp-tender bread. The horseradish sauce is very forward and next time I'd ask for it on the side. Short rib entree - a generous portion of lightly season, tender short ribs served on a bed of creamed leeks. The house Cabernet is quite respectable and very reasonably priced by the glass. One of the party had a bourbon based cocktail that was excellent but we can't remember the name. They also have a nice selection of mocktails. I really wanted to try the banana dessert, but none of us could eat another bite. Next time. And there WILL be a next time. read more

The vegan enoki mushroom sandwich we ordered was a little overcooked the first time but when they redid it there was some improvement. The fries are top-tier. I love a hand cut Fry. The scallops are an absolute must have... although they have changed seasonally by now they were served with an incredible Pearl couscous and I couldn't have combined flavors for this dish better myself! The meat in the braised short rib sandwich was cooked to perfection, but might've benefitted from being served au jus - it just needed a little more flavor. The service is just great and cocktails are perfectly balanced and refreshing! I've actually been craving the food since I walked out the door...so home run, Sweet P's! Hubs and I stopped in here on a whim on a visit to Richmond on a Sunday afternoon. The hostess let us know there would be an hour wait but then quickly checked to see if there were 2 bar seats, so we snagged those! The bartender was quite busy, but came to grab our drinks in a reasonable amount of time. The place is VERY loud. So, if you're looking for a quiet brunch, look elsewhere. This draws everyone from the biker crowd to the church goers and we loved the vibe. We split the Caesar salad with salmon and the crab Benedict. The salad was fab. The Benedict was also very good, but needed a little pizzazz of sorts...maybe another spice added to it? Not sure. At one point we were asked by a waitress to scoot our seats down the bar a little but I couldn't hear her, then proceeded to get attitude for not hearing her. Crispy, flavorful, and a healthy portion... totally shareable (but I didn't share a single one lol). For my main, I went with the Enoki Nashville, and whew -- it's got some serious heat but sooo much flavor. I balanced it out with the Caesar salad on the side. My bf longtime friend recommended this place to meet him for brunch and he did not disappoint. The mimosa set came with champagne, 3 juices and some fruit to add for $25 for the whole set. There was 6 of us, so we ordered 2. I got the vaquero omelette and maybe because I did no onions and peppers, it wasn't as flavorful because majority of the omelette was just egg and cheese. There was not a lot of chorizo throughout the omelette. The fruit was good though. My friends got the biscuits and gravy and crab cake sandwich and my bf got the short rib hash. Everyone said their food was really good. The star of the show was the Brussels sprouts. They had Thai chilis and some type of sauce or glaze that made it sweet, savory, and spicy. It was so good. This new business was super cute and quaint. It's nestled just along Broad St, and while parking front and center isn't quite possible, there was plenty of parking about a block away on the neighboring streets. The vibe here is made up not just from the cute colorful pastel-esque decor, but come on playlist too! For a small business, I could appreciate the intention to have everything on brand. The restaurant definitely cozy, probably no more then 8-10 tables, if that, but perfect for small groups of 2-4 people. I didn't know that it was Brunch only on Sundays, which was cool. I opted for the crab Benny and wow, that baby was pure crab meat, zero filler. It was perfectly cooked (I asked for my egg slightly over easy with minimal run and they easily nailed that to perfection), and the home fries were the perfect side. My date got the short rib, and that was tasty, but a little too heavy for my liking. I was a happy belly, filled kinda girl the rest of that Sunday. We came in for RVA's vegan food week and we were not disappointed. It's very clear they have a real chef here. I got the Nashville hot enoki sandwich (on their regular menu) and I do NOT eat mushrooms but this was wonderful. Roasted Beet Salad I typically don't like ordering salads out because I like the ones I make at home, but the presentation and variety of this salad is just so yummy. I adore the goat cheese mousse on the bottom and how well the arugula and beets compliment it. Short Rib Sammy The first thing I've ordered here and a fan favorite. Absolutely tender, melt off the bone meat with a side of great fries. Double Smash Burger I stole a bite from my fiancé and really enjoyed it. He devoured this. Classic Breakfast My fiancé's go to brunch order. The turkey sausage is incredible and juicy. Basic breakfast, but really good. Breakfast Smash Burger Comes with a nice runny egg, good option for brunch. Roasted Chicken Sammy My friend ordered this and loved every bite. I'm more of a dark meat girlie, but the flavors are really good on this. Vaquero omelet I haven't tried this, but my bestie has ordered this twice when we've come for brunch she likes it that much. The evening i went (4 pm on NYE) there weren't any guest outside of my party when I got there but it slowly filled up the later it got. The inside was super chic and clean. Our sever was very helpful. I enjoyed the pear drop tremendously and will be back specifically for that. My chicken fries were ok. Not something I usually eat but the star of the show was the salad! The short rib was fall-off-the-bone tender, while the airline chicken was juicy with a crisp, flavorful skin. What an adorable place brightening up Broad Street. Let me tell you the beehive drink I had was absolutely the best I've ever had. The dried lemon and fresh pansy just made it look incredible. This is my second visit. First visit was for dinner takeout during vegan week and my dish was very tasty but similar to this visit, the portion size was lacking for the price. Today my son (15) and I, dined in for brunch. The restaurant was semi-busy with most tables occupied. We sat at the bar. I'm rating 3 stars for the speed of service and food quality. We waited almost an hour for 2 dishes entrees & an appetizer. I ordered the Brussel Sprouts as a starter and due to server error, they came out at the same time as our brunch entrees. I ordered them with the understanding that they would come out first. Now had I waited that amount of time while enjoying my cocktail & starter it would have been a much different experience. I'm also rating 3 stars because I ordered the vegetarian option of the Short Rib Hash ($17.50) which should include slow braised short rib (which was substituted for oyster mushrooms for $2 more than the original price of $15.50), two eggs (which I don't eat so I declined), peppers, onions, skillet potatoes, and toast. Though the Oyster Mushrooms were a $2 up charge for the dish, there was a very little serving of mushrooms. Comparing the cost of beef to mushrooms, with an up charge, I definitely think the serving size of mushrooms was lacking. I also didn't see hardly any peppers & onions in the dish, they were likely sautéed with the potatoes. Overall it was a plate of potatoes with a few mushrooms scattered atop and toast. Had I ordered a side of potatoes and toast, I would have paid just $6.50. The price I paid didn't match what I got in my opinion. On to my son's dish. He had chicken and waffles ($14). The waffle was crunchy & dry as if it were overcooked. He didn't care for the flavor of the chicken. Can't really pinpoint what he didn't like about the flavor, but it's really hard for him to no like chicken. He says it was nicely breaded but didn't care for the seasonings used. It had a remarkable aftertaste but he enjoyed the sweetness of the honey drizzle. The Brussel Sprouts ($12) I'd give a perfect rating for flavor & portion size. The dish was plentiful & the Thai chili flavor could be tasted throughout. Again, my discontent is that they didn't come before the meal which would have helped the long wait. Lastly, the Pear Drop cocktail ($13) was also superb. I'm not a vodka girl but I have it a try. It was refreshingly delicious. Overall, I love the aesthetic of the restaurant and would give it another try for cocktails and starters. read more
