I have heard a lot of good things about Sweet Ps so I was excited to check them out. Very friendly staff. Nice menu with small and large plates, salads and sandwhiches. What we tried was good though nothing spectacular. What we ate: *Rosemary White Bean Hummus (V) with taro chips *Brussel Sprouts (VO) hot honey, Thai bird chilis *Scallops Arancini (GF) chorizo aioli *Braised Short Rib Sandwich. Pickled red cabbage, horseradish Other notes: street parking or pay lots. Give yourself time to park. I came here for a birthday brunch on a Saturday with a friend. We sat at the bar, which is pretty cute, and there are also plenty of tables lining the back wall. If you're sitting toward the front, there's a nice window to look out onto the street (Sidenote: it's on a very busy street and requires parallel parking.) The waitstaff was friendly and nice; you know, attentive and engaged in small talk with us. For food, I ordered the breakfast potatoes, which are the fried potatoes cubes. They were a bit too salty for my taste. I also had the sausage, which was pretty good--it was more like a sliced almost hot-dog style. I got a side of jam for my bread, and it was pretty good. This place is pretty decent overall.
I am going to say some things, and I feel like you may think you know what I mean, but you really need to experience it for yourself to truly understand. The biscuits and gravy were scrumptious, seriously delectable. I wish I could more adequately describe what I mean. Once that warm pork gravy touched my tongue, I knew I had made the right choice. My mouth waters even now simply thinking about those buttery, flaky biscuits. (I reheated my leftovers in the skillet, and they were just as tasty) The server was attentive and kind, also she gave solid tips on what to order. Clearly an experienced young woman. The restaurant accent walls in the nook where we sat were a bright mint color with some attractive wall art and hangings. I overheard the bartender speaking to a patron that the art is from a local Richmonder. (It is very intriguing) The atmosphere was calm in the morning around 11:00, and the brunch vibes reminded me of a cafe white noise playlist. I forgot to take pictures, but we all had a blast while we were there. Everyone liked their menu selections. Dinner update: We came back for dinner about a week later. I ordered the Peruvian Chicken Fries for our appetizer, and for an entree, I tried the Double Smash Burger and sauteed vegetables. The burger was okay. The flavor was nothing like the brunch items. The vegetables were fantastic, as were the chicken fries. The Peruvian dip accompaniment was mouthwatering. We used it to dip some fries in to great effect, too. There are some servers who are much better than the others. The woman who helped us at brunch was extraordinary. Tonight's server was less on top of things, and all in all, she did okay. She seemed less experienced, so I'm sure she'll improve in time. I recommend that you must try this place if you are a breakfast or brunch fan. The dinner selection is okay. I very much prefer the morning menu is all.
Came here for brunch on a Sunday while we were staying in Richmond. Sweet P's is a cute little restaurant in downtown. Service was great - our waitress was super attentive and friendly. All the dishes we ordered were delicious. Would highly recommend this place.
Not just another restaurant ~ Sweet P's brings flavor, food, and ambience together so nicely. I absolutely loved the Brussels we ordered for appetizer My friend says the Smashburger was delicious. The vegan enoki mushroom sandwich we ordered was a little overcooked the first time but when they redid it there was some improvement. The fries are top-tier. I love a hand cut Fry. The scallops are an absolute must have... although they have changed seasonally by now they were served with an incredible Pearl couscous and I couldn't have combined flavors for this dish better myself! The meat in the braised short rib sandwich was cooked to perfection, but might've benefitted from being served au jus - it just needed a little more flavor. The service is just great and cocktails are perfectly balanced and refreshing! I've actually been craving the food since I walked out the door...so home run, Sweet P's! Another cheer for Black owned RVA!!
The chicken fries needed more salt but together with the green sauce was phenomenal. I recommend skipping the chicken fries and just order a side of the green sauce to go with your french fries. I also tried their scallop appetizer which was delicious, but the pork belly was a miss and did not work with the rest of the dish for main dishes I recommend in the seared tuna. The brisket sandwich was a miss for me.
Will absolutely be returning to Sweet P's! My boyfriend & I got a reservation for Sunday Brunch and we had a great meal. Our server, Bre, was warm & made thoughtful suggestions. The light & airy aesthetic or the space also contributes to good vibes! We decided to split the hummus & Brussels small plates as well as the crabcake sandwich. All bites were absolutely delicious. The sandwich had jumbo lump crab and the seasoning on the Brussels was perfection.
Sweet P's RVA... 10/10 vibes! I kicked things off with the Brussel sprouts, and let me tell you -- they did not come to play. Crispy, flavorful, and a healthy portion... totally shareable (but I didn't share a single one lol). For my main, I went with the Enoki Nashville, and whew -- it's got some serious heat but sooo much flavor. I balanced it out with the Caesar salad on the side. The dressing was chef's kiss, and I would've loved to throw in some anchovies for that extra kick. My friend got the Smash Burger with fries, and umm... I may have "accidentally" eaten half of their fries. They were seasoned to perfection and honestly addictive. The music was on point, the energy was cozy and welcoming, and everything just hit. If you're looking for a spot with great food and good vibes, Sweet P's RVA is it. Definitely coming back!
My bf longtime friend recommended this place to meet him for brunch and he did not disappoint. The mimosa set came with champagne, 3 juices and some fruit to add for $25 for the whole set. There was 6 of us, so we ordered 2. I got the vaquero omelette and maybe because I did no onions and peppers, it wasn't as flavorful because majority of the omelette was just egg and cheese. There was not a lot of chorizo throughout the omelette. The fruit was good though. My friends got the biscuits and gravy and crab cake sandwich and my bf got the short rib hash. Everyone said their food was really good. The star of the show was the Brussels sprouts. They had Thai chilis and some type of sauce or glaze that made it sweet, savory, and spicy. It was so good. Probably the best Brussel sprouts I've ever had. Our server was very sweet, we really enjoyed her. I'd give this place a 8/10.
This new business was super cute and quaint. It's nestled just along Broad St, and while parking front and center isn't quite possible, there was plenty of parking about a block away on the neighboring streets. The vibe here is made up not just from the cute colorful pastel-esque decor, but come on playlist too! For a small business, I could appreciate the intention to have everything on brand. The restaurant definitely cozy, probably no more then 8-10 tables, if that, but perfect for small groups of 2-4 people. I didn't know that it was Brunch only on Sundays, which was cool. I opted for the crab Benny and wow, that baby was pure crab meat, zero filler. It was perfectly cooked (I asked for my egg slightly over easy with minimal run and they easily nailed that to perfection), and the home fries were the perfect side. My date got the short rib, and that was tasty, but a little too heavy for my liking. I was a happy belly, filled kinda girl the rest of that Sunday. So thank you Sweet P's for serving up love on a platter and good vibes! Definitely looking forward to coming back soon, and actually eyeing some things on the lunch menu.
We came in for RVA's vegan food week and we were not disappointed. It's very clear they have a real chef here. I got the Nashville hot enoki sandwich (on their regular menu) and I do NOT eat mushrooms but this was wonderful. My partner got the vegan braised short ribs (oyster mushrooms) (vegan special of the week) and the flavor on the sauce was amazing. They have several mocktails. The cinnamon breeze was great! Our waitress was attentive and informative. And it's so cute inside. Clean and cozy.
My fiancé and I love Sweet P's. We come here about once a week. It's a place for all your senses. The food is delicious, the music is incredible, the green decor is soothing, and the presentation is stunning. We've been for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Everything you order is bound to be delicious. Here is what I've tried so far with my favorite dishes in order: Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Absolutely delicious and generous crab lumps in these crab cakes. There is a wonderful kick and the sauce is amazing. It comes with a tasty side salad. Roasted Beet Salad I typically don't like ordering salads out because I like the ones I make at home, but the presentation and variety of this salad is just so yummy. I adore the goat cheese mousse on the bottom and how well the arugula and beets compliment it. Short Rib Sammy The first thing I've ordered here and a fan favorite. Absolutely tender, melt off the bone meat with a side of great fries. Double Smash Burger I stole a bite from my fiancé and really enjoyed it. He devoured this. Classic Breakfast My fiancé's go to brunch order. The turkey sausage is incredible and juicy. Basic breakfast, but really good. Breakfast Smash Burger Comes with a nice runny egg, good option for brunch. Roasted Chicken Sammy My friend ordered this and loved every bite. I'm more of a dark meat girlie, but the flavors are really good on this. Vaquero omelet I haven't tried this, but my bestie has ordered this twice when we've come for brunch she likes it that much. Sweet P's is the best. Antonio, the owner, is a part of its charm. He's a renaissance man, every time we talk I learn something new and incredible about him. The main thing you need to know is this man can cook. I highly recommend coming to Sweet P's.
I don't know if there is a word to represent that feeling when you climb in the bed, sheets fresh out the dryer, and sink a little bit. We'll, whatever that word is, that's how I felt taking a bite into the mushroom wellington during V72! I frequent Sweet P's often. It's my go to spot for people out of town, or returning. I've hosted my own birthday here, as well as a bridal shower in their upstairs event space. It's where I go hang out between festivals and events in the summer. Where I stop after a long day at work and my stomach is touching my back. Where I go just to stop in and say hello. Sweet P's is a culinary experience that I'll choose every time! The Brussel sprouts, scallop pallea, octopus and crab cakes are undefeated!! To my foodies who love scratch kitchens, this one is for you!

Food good, service good place. We had lunch and all our dishes went well. Watermelon salad was fresh, juicy and sweet; Short ribs was tender and soft; Elinki Mushroom burger tasted like real meat with a kick of chili; my breakfast burger also went great! The only thing was we were waiting for a pretty long time, and french fries also sealed cutting potatoes were too dry and hard. It isn't a big place but well decorated even the bathroom. I liked the mushrooms wallpaper! It was so cute! Our server was very friendly. She came and asked how was our food and with a big sweet smile. Saw good reviews for this place so decided to try it with a few friends. Walked in as it opened at 10am on a Sunday morning. A few people were in front of us; we were seated after ~5 minutes. The restaurant was quaint. The air conditioning was perfect for this extremely hot weather; it was even chilly at our spot. Our server Anika was personable. She told us that the restaurant was closed for a few days so a few items on the menu were not available like the short rib hash, rosemary white bean hummus, and other food item. An ingredient of SereniTea was also not available. We waited for an hour before our food was served. While waiting, we were told a few things by our server. First, after about ~30 minutes of waiting, we were told that a few orders from other tables were being completed and that our orders would be soon ready. After ~15 more minutes, we were told that the omelet was being prepared. Food was alright. Classic breakfast was fine. Crab cake benedict was also okay. The skillet potatoes were flavorful and cooked nicely. Vaquero omelet had a gamey hint. We also requested for coffee refills but were told a few things again. One was that they were brewing the coffee already. After following up, we were told that they had to change the coffee machine. The experience here was disappointing. Clear communication would have been appreciated. They could have told us that their kitchen was slow today to set clear expectations at the start. Instead of that, we were told different reasons for the delay in food and a very basic thing such as coffee. It felt like we were being avoided. By the time we left, we were there for 2 hours. With the extremely slow service and poor communication, the auto gratuity of 20% was not only unwarranted but more so, insulting. In the first place, gratuity should be freely given. read more
I really enjoyed my brunch date here. I was with a small group and I actually arrived later than everyone else and the staff still were very accommodating & friendly! I really enjoyed my watermelon salad and the person next to me got the caesar salad which she said was fresh and tasty. I had a mimosa and margarita I was satisfied and the short rib hash didn't disappoint! It was a little salty but I would get it again! The biscuit was always really good you can tell it was made from scratch. I will be going back! Keep in mind it's a very small space but this is a cute spot for a quick lunch, dinner or drink! read more

This place is a very cure trendy restaurant in the heart of the city. I went with a party of 4, got very lucky and found a quick park on the side street. I seriously was dreading going there because I thought parking would be awful but this day it wasn't. The server we had was really great, just the right amount of friendly and informative. She brought water in these cute little glasses, and brought our entrees out fairly quickly. I tried something new, an Enoki. Nashville, I checked it out here on Yelp first and it looked really good... however, the. Description of it on the menu neglected to mention it was hot as fire. (I had no idea Nashville meant hot as hell) When I tell you this thing was smothered in hot sauce, I mean..... my mouth was on fire. I could tell the sandwich was good, but couldn't enjoy it because of the heat. I was so sad, I wanted to eat it so bad but couldn't. I just ate the fries that came with it. Regardless of this, in would go back simply because the menu looked okay and had vegan options, so I will go back and ask more questions before I order next time. read more

I'm not sure which was better, the music, the food, the drinks or the ambiance. I'll say all of it makes the experience at Sweet P's amazing. We started with the Brussels Sprouts which were kind of sweet, kind of spicy... kind of perfect. We are still talking about them a week later. I got the scallops with couscous, orange and fennel. It was the perfect balance. The drinks were tasty. The servers were all super nice and had great suggestions for food and drink. I can't wait to come back for brunch. read more

Kiana is such a sweet heart ! Make sure you give her a big ole tip! The food is bomb. And they also have a vegan week which is this week. The only meat dish here is the squid which was also bomb! It comes with chorizo but I don't eat pork so we opted to remove that. The chef is also a sweetheart and very authentic. The ambiance is so cute and the playlist is great and soothing. read more

First time here! I walked by on a Friday evening after a nail appointment and it was a packed house! The evening i went (4 pm on NYE) there weren't any guest outside of my party when I got there but it slowly filled up the later it got. The inside was super chic and clean. Our sever was very helpful. I enjoyed the pear drop tremendously and will be back specifically for that. My chicken fries were ok. Not something I usually eat but the star of the show was the salad! It was huge and so fresh. I look forward to seeing how it changes. My friend enjoyed her chicken sandwich though it's typically vegan so you'd want to sub the mushroom for chicken if that's your preference. The chef came over to check in and he was super friendly. I look forward to returning for brunch. read more

We found this place based on the great reviews and the reviewers for it right. We all got NY Strip steaks, medium rare, with a couple of different sauces. I had a seasonal special with a Tomato Chimichurri Aioli and my son and husband had the red chimichurri sauce with their steaks. Steaks were perfectly cooked and very flavorful! We also ordered a side of fries and a starter of Peruvian chicken fries. The fries were perfectly seasoned and you could tell they were freshly handcut. They were some of the best, if not the best, fries we've ever had! Our server, Kiana, was very sweet and helpful! She brought us out good quickly and answered any questions we had. Out on a Saturday brunch date with my great friend! We decided to visit the very popular @sweetpsrva and we were not disappointed! Firstly, the staff and vibe 10/5, very nice and prompt in waiting on us, the decor was very welcoming, the space was clean and the playlist . So grateful we made a reservation because they were at capacity in the dining area with minimum seating available at the bar. I ordered a glass of Prosecco (5/5 lol) and the classic breakfast with scrambled eggs (3/5 would prefer a creamy egg but they were decent), skillet potatoes (5/5), sausage patties (4/5 frozen patties but good) and a homemade biscuit (4/5). Everything was hot and fresh and those potatoes were diced and seasoned perfectly! They sliced and buttered the biscuit and toasted it a bit, that's top tier to me!My friend ordered the same meal except she added cheese to her eggs, turkey sausage and white toast, she agreed it was a solid meal! If you've attended any of our private dinners or pool parties, then you already know: Chef Antonyo's food is legendary. We've had the pleasure of hiring him several times for private events, and now, visiting his new restaurant, Sweet P's, has completely solidified our love for his craft. Oh. My. God. The quality and flavors that made Chef Antonyo a staple in our events have not been jeopardized--if anything, they're even more elevated! We started with the Peruvian Chicken Fries as an appetizer, and they were a revelation. Perfectly crispy, loaded with tender chicken, and bursting with bold flavors. For our entrees, my wife had the Short Rib, and I went with the Airline Chicken. Both dishes were beautifully presented and executed to perfection. The short rib was fall-off-the-bone tender, while the airline chicken was juicy with a crisp, flavorful skin. This place is an absolute gem, and Richmond is lucky to have such a talented chef offering a world-class dining experience. If you're debating whether to make the trip, consider this your sign: Do yourself a favor and take a flyover to Sweet P's. Not only is this restaurant an incredible culinary experience, but it's also Black-owned, so your support means everything. This is my second visit. First visit was for dinner takeout during vegan week and my dish was very tasty but similar to this visit, the portion size was lacking for the price. Today my son (15) and I, dined in for brunch. The restaurant was semi-busy with most tables occupied. We sat at the bar. I'm rating 3 stars for the speed of service and food quality. We waited almost an hour for 2 dishes entrees & an appetizer. I ordered the Brussel Sprouts as a starter and due to server error, they came out at the same time as our brunch entrees. I ordered them with the understanding that they would come out first. Now had I waited that amount of time while enjoying my cocktail & starter it would have been a much different experience. I'm also rating 3 stars because I ordered the vegetarian option of the Short Rib Hash ($17.50) which should include slow braised short rib (which was substituted for oyster mushrooms for $2 more than the original price of $15.50), two eggs (which I don't eat so I declined), peppers, onions, skillet potatoes, and toast. Though the Oyster Mushrooms were a $2 up charge for the dish, there was a very little serving of mushrooms. Comparing the cost of beef to mushrooms, with an up charge, I definitely think the serving size of mushrooms was lacking. I also didn't see hardly any peppers & onions in the dish, they were likely sautéed with the potatoes. Overall it was a plate of potatoes with a few mushrooms scattered atop and toast. Had I ordered a side of potatoes and toast, I would have paid just $6.50. The price I paid didn't match what I got in my opinion. On to my son's dish. He had chicken and waffles ($14). The waffle was crunchy & dry as if it were overcooked. He didn't care for the flavor of the chicken. Can't really pinpoint what he didn't like about the flavor, but it's really hard for him to no like chicken. He says it was nicely breaded but didn't care for the seasonings used. It had a remarkable aftertaste but he enjoyed the sweetness of the honey drizzle. The Brussel Sprouts ($12) I'd give a perfect rating for flavor & portion size. The dish was plentiful & the Thai chili flavor could be tasted throughout. Again, my discontent is that they didn't come before the meal which would have helped the long wait. Lastly, the Pear Drop cocktail ($13) was also superb. I'm not a vodka girl but I have it a try. It was refreshingly delicious. Overall, I love the aesthetic of the restaurant and would give it another try for cocktails and starters. read more
