I came here for dinner on a Saturday night with three friends and we had a wonderful time. It's intimate and cozy inside and I loved the decor and vibe of the place. Our server was wonderful and very knowledgable about the wine. I loved that we had a mini tasting when he told us about the open bottles. We all ended up picking a different glass! For our meal, we shared the following: - Bread service -- honestly, SO delicious - Tartare -- very unique flavors, kind of like a tabouleh - Cabbage Ceasar salad -- an interesting take on a classic salad, very fresh and crunchy - Aleppo egg -- a take on Turkish eggs, it wasn't super great to share but was very good - The cacio de pepe pasta -- the most underwhelming dish of the night, not bad but nothing special - The steak -- my friend who doesn't like cheese had this and shared a few bites and it was very tender and flavorful We opted out of dessert but the dark chocolate tahini truffles sounded like they would be so good! read more

Unfortunately, my experience here was disappointing due to the customer service. The initial server was very unfriendly, overly opinionated, and came across as bossy rather than welcoming. He seemed annoyed that I had my own preferences about which wines I wanted to try, which made the tasting feel uncomfortable instead of enjoyable. After that interaction, he essentially handed us off to another server and completely stopped checking on us. He never came back to ask if we wanted additional wine tastings, food, or anything else. We felt ignored for the rest of the visit. Wine tasting should feel inviting and relaxed, but the atmosphere here felt awkward and unwelcoming because of the service. I really enjoyed my dining experience at Celladora! First off, I highly recommend you make a reservation because there are only 4 tables in here for dining purposes, so I felt very lucky that we were able to get in here! I was visiting Richmond so my understanding is that this is predominantly a wine shop. The vibe was cool, and overall we had great service! Our waitress was helpful and attentive. The food was pretty good and I wish I could remember exactly what we ordered haha, but I was here with two other friends and we split everything. That is definitely the way to do it so that you can try a lot of things. I really enjoyed the dips, tuna dip, and the rice/meat dish we got. I thought the fish we had was also pretty good! We had a wonderful meal and wines. The reservations are done by text and the restaurant was kind to text us before we were leaving that they were running a bit behind ( so we didn't have to wait once we got there) Staff very knowledgeable about the different wines and food being served. While it is a small menu there were different choices given some of my dietary restrictions. Food was delicious and very fresh. I would rate it 9.3/10 only because the seared tuna took time to come out and was generally overcooked and the radicchio was a very bitter element in terms of flavor balance. I attended a special event at Celladora a week ago, and the darling wine shop has been on my mind ever since. I loved everything about it and can't wait to return again sometime soon! Our group (Social Club RVA) had the entire space reserved with a pre-set menu and optional wine tasting. Safe to say, I opted into the tasting. Upon walking in, it was clear that so much thought had been put into the aesthetic of the space. The vibe was so welcoming, with an intimate setup of two long tables (special for the group, it's usually separated out, I believe). Megan and her team were lovely hosts, and we had a very relaxed tasting of three different natural wines (Sunset was my favorite) with explanations on each, as well as eight different food items. We started with the house-spiced nuts, which were cashews with lime leaves, lemongrass, and Thai chili. Delightful all around. I had to stop myself from over-indulging in them. We also had house-marinated olives with citrus, garlic, and dried chili. Olives are among my favorite foods and when the table almost left some behind, myself and another girl scooped up a bunch of them so they wouldn't go to waste. Once we were fully settled in at the tables, we were treated to three dips (yogurt and garlic, mahamara, and baba ganoush) with Sub Rosa flatbread. Oh, my gosh. I probably could've finished off those dips and bread singlehandedly if I wasn't with a large group. Sooooo good! I especially loved the yogurt dip. It was so cool and refreshing. For our next course, we had flounder ceviche with peppers, clementines, and cilantro. I didn't personally love this, but I am also not huge on peppers or raw fish. Others did enjoy it though. Just not my thing! After that, we had cucumber salad with Szechuan oil, cilantro, and peanuts. Loved this dish, and I'm not usually a big cucumber fan! So tasty. Once that was cleared, we had queso fundido, of which I had the bulk. People were actually going to leave the cheese behind, like come on, you can't do that! Oro's gemelli and pork larb were our last two courses. Both were a touch too spicy for me, but pretty much anything is too spicy for me, so please don't let that stop you from ordering them if they have them. All told, Celladora was the scene of one of my happiest nights of summer thus far, and I'd recommend them to anyone who wants to indulge in delightful food and great wine. read more

I think the natural lighting and people watching give me so much joy. I also love the bright colors of the water glasses. There are only four tables at this place. You're able to make a reservation by messaging them on Instagram, texting their number, or calling them. Celladora Wines is one of many local establishments that make Richmond so special. Richmond's local businesses excel at familiarity. It's like living in a small town and knowing everyone, when in reality it's a city. Places like Celladora shine at creating those relationships. I love that they only have four tables. It feels like you're really catered to as a guest here. Sometimes you might wait a little, but when it's your turn you're given undivided attention. I love that they try to give customers the chance explore different wines. It's a lot of fun to try more organic and natural wines for me! They have food here too. They also host really fun popups. I really enjoyed my time at Celladora tonight. I've been meaning to go all year and finally had the chance to check it out. It's SO cozy inside. Perfect for a date night. I went with my two sisters to grab a bottle. The place is very small so I would recommend making reservations just to ensure seating. We sat at a table but apparently there was a reservation snafu so we were asked to move. We would've moved regardless but we were offered a free glass of wine for the inconvenience. Wow, I love good customer service. Things like that make me want to continue to patronize the business because it shows they genuinely care. They have a really good wine selection and everything is organized by regions. They also have food! Sadly, we just came from dinner so we didn't get the chance to eat but I will be definitely be back to try the food because it all smelled delicious!! read more

Megan, the owner, hand picks all of the wine from all over the world. She is passionate about bringing good wine to the community and the Fan is tremendously lucky that she decided to move there to open up this spot. She has poured her heart and soul into the business and it is very apparent if you give yourself the opportunity to experience it. The unique selection of wines are from all over the world and there's something nice for anyone's budget. And if you're not a wino like me, Megan will make sure that she figures out what your palate is and gets you what you'll enjoy. The chef is also incredible. Perhaps benefitting from my first visit being during the peak of summer produce season, the food was incredible and consistently well-executed with fantastic flavor combinations. After walking by Celladora several times and admiring how cute and charming it was in there, I finally made a reservation for dinner. Despite being predominately a wine shop, I was very impressed with the food. We started with the beef tartare, which was very unique compared to other restaurants in Richmond. Instead of relying on capers and olive oil, they used a really complex combination of spices to really make it taste exciting and different. I loved it. Then we had the flounder ceviche, which was refreshing, delicious, and a bit spicy! Moving onto the seared tuna -- it was cooked perfectly and the sauce was wonderful. I loved the dollop of cream to help bring a richness to the dish. The green beans were fine, but the star was definitely the tuna. Lastly, we had the pork larb, which had so much flavor! I was genuinely impressed by this dish and how sweet yet sour yet spicy it was. There were so many flavors and it was just delicious. Not one to WINE, but choosing this local shop for dinner was a POUR decision... We went to Celladora to celebrate an anniversary with our family of 4. We were seated at our reservation time and greeted with the menu explained. We were told at the beginning that one of their dinner large plates and signature desserts were sold out. We ordered one small plate and 4 dinner plates (2 pastas and 2 sesame tuna). The front staff member recommended wine and we were off to a good start. Our small plate came in a reasonable amount of time which we ate, enjoyed, and then we waited...and waited...and waited. During that time no one checked in and offered an explanation for the delay. Finally, the 2 pasta dinners arrived after an hour wait and our table members went ahead to start eating while it was hot. They slowly finished their meals and we were still waiting for the other two entrees. Still no one came to explain or offer an explanation. Finally, the staff member arrived with the meals and said, "sorry, we have a small kitchen and there was a miscommunication on meal timing". The restaurant did comp our wine to make up for the wait. We ate our meal 90 minutes after ordering, 30 minutes after the other table members received their meals, and then had the credit card scanner left on our table to pay while we were still eating. No one checked on us at all after they dropped off our meal. So the GOOD was the building ambiance and wine knowledge. The BAD was the service experience, the food delivery, and also the food itself. The small plate was excellent but the dinner entrees were so coated in garlic we could not taste any other flavors. We love garlic but the overuse in all these entrees (especially in the tuna) left an aftertaste that was overbearing and long lasting. We could tell the food was fresh and high quality but the lack of balance of flavors and innovation in ingredients was disappointing -- especially paired with the service and timing experience. While we appreciate the effort to apologize with the free bottle of wine, this is NOT a restaurant we would recommend. We were surprised by the experience due to the great reviews and sad that our celebration was not what we had hoped for. While there was food and there was wine, this was only a wine shop trying, but not succeeding, at being a restaurant. read more

The service has always been so great, the waiters & waitresses I have encountered are all very knowledgeable on the different wines and so friendly. The food here is also great. My favorite thing on the menu is their charcuterie board, which always has a new pickled veggie every time I go! My favorite thing about this place is you can describe the type of wine you are in the mood for that night and they will select a few different bottles for you based on your wants. It's a small intimate setting so you definitely need a reservation but it's worth planning ahead for. We had 4 in our party and shared several of the dishes. Celladora wines was a cute little gem that we recently stumbled across. They've only been open a few months. They feature wines from a variety of regions ranging from the US to Australia. My sisters and I split a sparkling Rosè and it did not disappoint. I suggest making a reservation as the seating is limited. We didn't have reservations and were given a table and unfortunately we had to let it go. The manager was accommodating and found us a seat and also comped our bottle! Now that's service. Celladora is cute, cozy, essentially affordable, and the most satisfying way to find your next bottle of (natural) wine. Every time I've asked for help finding something I might enjoy, whoever is working there has been extremely pleasant and thoughtful in getting to know my taste and recommending me something that's new to me, but feels familiar and to their credit, is usually right up my alley. I visited this combination wine store/restaurant yesterday with 3 other family members. It has a fantastic display of wines from everywhere you can think of, and is probably best known for that feature. The person who waited on us was very pleasant. However, the restaurant has approximately 4 tables in a very small space to serve their customers. The menu is very skimpy in choices, and leans toward natural items, of which only a few are actually cooked. Most were marinated. The choices were not what you would expect to see in a really good restaurant, depending on your opinion of course. What we had was very small servings that we split between the 4 of us. They were OK but not spectacular. They charged a lot for what we got, and that included a corkage fee of $15 per bottle. The total bill for food and 2 bottles of wine was about $370 and we didn't get desert or drinks other than the wine and water. Considering that it wasn't spectacular food, that was a lot for what we got. The noise level was almost unbearable. The table next to us had 4 women seated at it who were extremely loud, and there were frequent loud noises due to metallic items clashing together, generated by the staff. It was hard to hear what people sitting right next to or across from me. All the surfaces are made of hard materials, which contributed to the noise. I would recommend Celladora for the wines, but not the restaurant. read more

This place is a lovely new gem for RVA. My friends had been raving about this place for months, and I definitely felt left out since I hadn't been yet! My first visit was to buy a couple bottles for a dinner I was going to. The staff was kind and let me browse, offering suggestions if I needed them. I recently met a friend there for light snacks and a couple glasses. It's so cute! We met in the late afternoon right when they opened, had two glasses of wine each and then chose a cheese and charcuterie board which came with Sub Rosa bread. The cheeses and speck were delicious. It also came with a jam, pickled vegetable and mustard. It's the perfect post-work, pre-dinner snack and wind down. We had such a lovely and chill time, and I think the size is perfect. It's nice to have some more intimate small spots in Richmond. I've heard their dinner pop ups are really fun. Hoping to be able to attend one of those, but in the meantime I'll definitely be going back and recommending it to others. read more

I decided to try this place after seeing it on a popular Richmond page. My plan was to have a glass of wine and purchase a bottle. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. Upon entering the establishment, there were maybe 5 or 6 tables and wall to wall of wine. I wasn't greeted by anyone so I proceeded to walk a little further in looking for a register, bar, a place to take my order....any kind of customer service to be honest. When I didn't find anything, I spotted someone who appeared to work there, having a conversation with some customers. I asked for some direction (how to place an order, if I could sit at the empty table) she advised I had to place the order through her and to wait for her to clean the table before I sat down. She then proceeded to continue her conversation with the previous customers for another 5/10 mins. Needless to say, I left without ordering. I would rather give my money to an establishment with better customer service. read more
