This place was so off my radar but after we finally made it... it needs a shining beacon summoning Richmond. One of the best happy hours around Mon-Thurs, in the bar. Service is wonderful. From greet to seat and everything in between, we had an amazing time. It was our anniversary (and they gave us a slice of basal cake, so delicious). we wanted to try the Thursday happy hour special. For $12 we got a beer and a huge delicious (perfectly seasoned) chicken sandwich with fries! What a deal!! We tried the tempura green beans too. Awesome. We can't wait to come back. The regular menu changes with the chef and I look forward to trying it. Amazing quality and service.

Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! That is all I can write after the delicious meal at my favorite spot in Richmond! The service is impeccable as always...ready but not in your face. The ambience is upscale but not too over the top. And, the food is skillfully prepared by Chef David and his team. Presentation is always great; it's the taste though that lets you know you are in for a real treat at first bite! It is easy to see why Chef David was named Best Chef by the Richmond Times Dispatch in 2024 and Chef of the Year by the Virginia Restaurant Lodging And Travel Association in 2025! This is the perfect date-place or where you want to celebrate that special occasion.

This was a fun family outing since everyone has traveled distances to be here for the holidays. Incredibly relaxing and delicious from start to finish. We snagged a cozy corner by the window with bench seats and cushioned chairs, which is a huge must for me. I don't understand how restaurants can have no cushions for their chairs. To start, we ordered, cocktails, and mocktails; the house named butter wash, bourbon, drink the MCK and the jalapeño passionfruit mule. Everyone at the table agreed that both were delicious and spot on for the occasion. We were also thrilled with our complementary bread and an addicting honey butter spread. You could literally put this on anything and make it taste better. For appetizers again, we were not disappointed. We ordered the pork belly, the butternut squash bisque, the Burrata and sourdough toast, and the salmon belly avocado egg roll. We shared and enjoyed them all; IMO the Burrata sourdough toast was the winner with the bisque in second but my husband and one of my sons might have put the pork belly first lol. The salmon belly was good, but it just wasn't on par with the complexity and depth of flavors for the others. For dinner three of us ordered the butter poached fillet, the dill crusted salmon in the bone in pork chop (which is a very elegant Thanksgiving feast on a plate). Everyone enjoyed their entrées, but I think my salmon was a winner overall for a majority because of the accompanying smoked bacon, horseradish cream, and savory cabbage. Although MCK can run on the pricier side, we all felt the entrées were a decent size. Enough so that we didn't feel like we could partake in the tasty sounding desserts. If you wanna keep the price down, you could definitely share pretty much all the appetizers and of course

Superb scratch kitchen in Midlothian. Delicious courses, original cocktails, incredible bourbon list. Get reservations and spoil yourself.

A hidden gem in a little strip mall, this definitely feels like a place to go to celebrate. My mother and I were delighted by every dish (and demolished the bread and honey butter of course) and enjoyed both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage options. The service was excellent and very pleasant as well. This particular venture we shared the salmon egg roll (perfectly cooked with a lovely crunch on the outside and balanced well with the smooth acid of the avocado and citrus), the pork belly (the lone issue the whole evening - delicious and beautifully cooked but difficult to cut even with my steak knife), the papardelle with a smooth meaty Bolognese, and the absolutely splendid duck. The raspberry and coconut desserts were lovely as well, but I think the raspberry made it for best of the two. Absolutely worth a return trip.

It didn't start out well Waiting in table sat down at bar and they completely ignored us for 15 minutes Then our table was ready so moved to table with no tab at bar obviously Service otherwise was good and my appetizer pork belly was very good (along with the broccoli that came with it) I had the rockfish for dinner with lobster sauce and terrific Honestly if not for the bar experience it could have gotten 5 star Maybe a little to busy to care what my experience was as they seem very popular That usually turns me off for a revisit

We had a lot of fun and made some really delicious food! The classroom space itself is large, with multiple prep areas, storage, and teaching table. There is a dining table that seated twelve (our class was 10.) You are greeted with water and the option to purchase beer or wine by the glass or bottle. After a quick walk through you form teams of three or four and set about preparing the entire menu (in other words, it is NOT one station prepping the main course while another group is limited to boiling pasta.) All the mis-en-place has been set out so all the measuring is already done, but the rest is hands on mixing, cooking, plating, etc. The instructor orally delivers instructions and walks around to catch anything going astray. The class was two hours long. Our menu was on the theme "Italian Classics." Items to be prepared were Chicken Piccata, Artichoke Bruschetta, Bucatini in Creamy Pecorino Sauce, and Chocolate Budino. I won't review the food -- it would be a review of our own cooking -- but I will say that preparing it was easy with guidance and tasted absolutely delicious! Each work group eats their own prepared food but at a communal table. The crew also boxes up anything extra that is left from your prep., like extra bruschetta topping or leftover pasta, to be divided up as each work group sees fit. And I didn't have to wash dishes! My wife is the chef in the family, I am never going to cook at her level. But this class was not beyond my abilities and made me completely at ease. Can't wait to go back for other classes here!

Calling this a cooking "class" would be disingenuous…read more I received a coupon for a free class from Mise En Place and purchased another ticket for my wife. We were very excited for a cooking class to learn new recipes that we could cook together. I am a very inexperienced cook and was looking forward to learning on how to cook the meals on the advertisement and leaving feeling confident that I learned something new and could prepare at least one of the dishes. Instead, we showed up and weren't greeted at all. We had to ask another class member how to sign in because the instructor was no where to be found. There was no guidance and the "instructor" (using this term incredibly loosely) told the large group to pick a station and get started. Everyone seemed confused by this but walked around and found a recipe. Every station was lacking ingredients and utensils so we could not complete our tasks without walking around aimlessly looking for the right ingredient or measuring cup, etc. (Again, no guidance from the instructor). About 30 minutes into cooking, the "instructor" told the group of 10+ people to switch to a new station. This wasn't structured at all and people in the class just meandered around and said "I guess I'll do this now. No idea where the last person left off though." My wife and I took over a task preparing Asian Fried Chicken. After following the recipe provided by the "iNsTrUcToR", she came over and said it was still raw and walked away with no further instructions. We immediately used a meat thermometer showing that the internal temp was above 165 degrees and not in fact raw, making me seriously doubt the qualifications of our "iNsTrUcToR". After completing this part of the recipe, we noticed a number of other participants just standing around. My wife asked the instructor "Do you have a task I can complete, something I can help with?" and the instructor simply walked away. After completing the recipes - the food was fine. No complaints about the quality of the food - but this isn't the point of a "cooking CLASS". I spoke with 5/6 of the attendees in this class and they were clearly annoyed with the false advertising and lack of instruction and audibly complained throughout the "class" about having no instruction, no guidance, and learning nothing. (Rightfully so). There were a number of other beginners in the class and they seemed checked out because they had no idea what to do, didn't receive feedback, and there was no structure. The common theme after speaking with the attendees was that they thought this would be an instructional event where you can leave learning something (a new skill, a new recipe, literally anything). The only thing I left with was a few jokes about how terrible this experience was. if this was advertised as 15 people getting together to cook prepared recipes with no guidance, that would be accurate. If you want to cook something new - google it and try it yourself. You'll save $85 and get the same experience.

Everything! A historic, charming venue with a very well appointed kitchen work space! The Owner…read moreChristine is warm, friendly and attentive. She has a well versed culinary trajectory and is an amazing professional and entrepreneur!
