Enoteca Sogno is an Italian restaurant in Bellevue/Northside. The restaurant is dimly lit, unassuming from the outside, and feels a little like you're at someone's home. The food was so good! They provide complimentary bread and the focaccia was fluffy inside with a crunch outside and so flavorful. The calamari was tender. Both pasta dishes were tasty but the tortellini in the butter & sage sauce was the star of the night. I'd order that dish again in a heartbeat. The tiramisu was great too. All dishes were reasonably priced. We just wish the service was quicker, though they were definitely understaffed. There seemed to be only one main server handling 90% of the tables that night. I'd recommend going for a date night when you're not in any type of time crunch. They're only open Wednesday-Saturday from 5-9pm and you can call to make a reservation. read more

The food was absolutely incredible. So many options I really didn't know what to do. I ended up with the shrimp scampi which was divine and my friend got the clam pasta. We shared the special lamb loins and they were perfection. The wine options were also very thoughtful and delicious. My ONLY qualm was service was a little slow, it took a very long time to order. Other servers jumped in to help ours who seemed inundated, which was sweet. Maybe just short staffed but honestly still so good and I'd go back a million times. read more

Went here on a Saturday night for dinner. It's larger on the inside than you'd expect based on the outside, but reservations are highly recommended. Had the calamari appetizer and it was very good. They give you the whole calamari (head/tentacles and rings), which I love, but is kind of hard to find. The squid is lightly fried in a nice breading and served with a tasty dipping sauce. For dinner, we had the spinach tortellini and clams with spaghetti. Both were excellent and moderately priced. There's a small bar that stayed full most of the time we were there. The place has an excellent wine menu and our server, Ally, was able to make some good recommendations. We'll definitely be back. read more

Lovely restaurant. Very intimate setting. Food is fantastic - a bit on the pricier side for Italian food than- but well worth it.

We had a nice dinner at this spot. From the street it doesn't look like much, but inside it is a cozy neighborhood Italian restaurant. We had a nice server and a cute table in the back. It really is like a movie set Italian spot. The menu is simple, focusing on classics done right with fresh ingredients. We came across Enoteca Sogno thanks to a suggestion in our local Richmond FB group. We made a snap decision on late Friday evening to visit and luckily were able to snap a reservation. The interior is slightly dated but certain aspects (like ceiling) were def. unique. The atmosphere was lit as there were ton of people talking. We ordered the special appetiser on the day (fava beans, olive oil, onions on a sourdough) and a Pesto Pasta. Both were incredibly fresh and tasted good. An incredible dinner experience! We came here as a date night and we loved the whole experience. Our waitress was so nice and gave us good recommendations. We got aperol spritzes to drink and started with the mozzarella and roasted red pepper appetizer along with the salad that they gave us already split into two bowls which was great. Both dishes were so tasty along with the warm bread they gave us to start (that focaccia was incredible! I want to try my hand to make something similar at home! It was so good). For dinner, my husband got the mixed seafood pasta and I got the summer squash pasta. Both were delicious and we ate it all! For dessert we ordered the lemon mascarpone cake and tiramisu and they were awesome. We rarely order dessert out and it was such a treat. We went to Italy for our honeymoon and we agreed that it felt like an authentic experience which was really cool. We definitely want to come back and bring more people with us to enjoy it. Enoteca Sogno sets the bar for excellent Italian cuisine in Richmond. Tucked away in a nondescript building in Bellevue, this cozy, welcoming restaurant offers incredibly delightful Italian dishes and a robust wine list. I was DD but I heard great things about the Moscato wine. We ordered the robiola cheese to start, which came with their super lovely homemade bread. We needed a second helping of that. Even the olive oil was clearly high quality. For my meal, I opted for the crespelle pasta special, which was basically like a pasta crepe with spinach, bechamel, and cheese with marinara. It was so good and not sickeningly filling, which was an added plus. It let me save room for their lemon mascarpone cake for dessert! Service was prompt and friendly. I was glad we were able to score a table on a rainy Wednesday evening. For busier times, I'd definitely book a reservation. read more

Bentering the restaurant is like entering another world off Bellevue Ave. It is cozy and wonderful. The service and food were both superb. I don't know how others have rated the food as anything less than a "5" star! For rustic Italian style food, this food is excellent. The portions seemed generous-to-just right. The menu was imaginative and yet identifiable. Each of us had either a wine, beer or cocktail and all of us felt very pleased with what we ordered. I have to be honest with you, I don't even want to write this glowing recommendation because I want to be able to stop here anytime with my entire family and eat delicious pasta and drink delicious wine! But I have to give this place respect, so the review must be written. My husband and I stopped here last night with our 3-year-old and were treated so kindly. The ambience is very old style and romantic Italian, so I can't say a 3-year-old was exactly the vibe they were going for, yet he got all of the fresh bread that his little heart desired and his Spider-Man toy was not frowned upon. Bless them, seriously. Then we ordered a bottle of wine which was absolutely delicious and incredibly fairly priced. Our waiter was able to recommend it based just on our descriptions of types of wine we liked, which is such an amazing skill. We started with the fava Bean crostini, which was pleasantly fresh and delicious. All three of us got pasta dishes that were divine- wild mushroom tagliatelle, gnocchi with peas in a cream sauce, and tagliatelle in marinara. My mushroom pasta had the perfect amount of truffle flavor; umami without being too rich or too salty. I can't speak for the other two because they ate them so fast that I didn't even get a chance to analyze! There were plenty of dessert options and we settled on sharing a cannoli, which was fresh and yummy. You should probably go here, but please make sure there's always a table for me! read more

Trattoria-style menu and vibe, authentic Italian, all of the Italian staples, by far the best catalog of Italian wines in Richmond (at least), the owner knows each and always recommends a great wine. Finally, a Richmond restaurant with excellent shrimp scampi. Pasta was perfect al dente, and there was enough garlic to make me happy and still allow my friends to get close enough to me to talk. Martini was strong, dry, and delicious. Worth whatever I paid for it. It was like getting almost two cocktails for the price of one. Tiramisu was more on the chocolaty side than the liqueur-soaked side, but very, very good. Service was excellent. Noise level was a little higher than I like, but par for the course. My first time to Enoteca Sogno and I think it's going to be one of my ten out of ten restaurants. Delicious food and excellent service. We started with apps which I don't have pictures of the apps because they were half gone by the time I took any pictures. I had the red pepper with mozzarella and my boyfriend had caprese salad, they were simple and tasty. For dinner I had the gnocchi special. It was so good I should have ordered more to go so I could have it again, it might not be the special next time and all I'll have are memories of the deliciousness. My boyfriend had the fish of the day which I think was haddock and it was good too, moist and flaky. My mom had the shrimp scampi which she liked. For dessert, we had the lemon cake and the pistachio cake, the pistachio cake was my favorite, light, airy, flavorful, so good. The lemon cake was good too but richer and I didn't have room for it. Only downside was the noise level, we had the quietest table so I can't imagine what it was like in the main area. read more

Enoteca Sogno is probably our favorite Italian restaurant in RVA. It is def our go-to for delicious pasta and a reasonable bottle of wine. We are kinda "new world wine snobs" and admittedly don't know a lot about Italian wines other than a large chunk of reds are just Sangioveses. But it seems the owners carefully curate their wine list with a good bottle for every budget. One of the criteria we judge Italian places on is their house bread. Enoteca does it right with fresh baked bread that is rustic and perfect for dipping in oil. This is the way. The burrata is fantastic and the tomatoes are always fresh. We are pasta-philes so we haven't really ventured to their non-pasta entrees. The gnocchi is amazing... soft and pillowy. You can do it or the tagliatelle with marinara, bolognese of pesto. I think we prefer the saucier marinara to the bolognese which can be a little light on sauce... we just prefer saucier. The vibe is "Italian homey", like you're at nonna's house. The bar is small but a popular spot because I think sometimes the owners come and talk to you and you might get to try stuff especially if you're there around closing time. One time we went on a weekend and wanted to sit at the bar but it was fully booked but plenty of regular tables were available. However, it can get fully booked on weekends so best to make a reservation. They are truly old school. If you want a res, you gotta use that old phone app on your mobile internet device and good chance you'll be leaving a voicemail but someone will return your call. Unfortunately I cannot in good conscience give Enoteca Sogno a favorable review. Food was mediocre at best and it's way too loud. Service was okay, but I have to believe that there are far better Italian restaurants in the area. Reading other reviews I had high expectations which fell flat...perhaps it was an off night (Saturday evening) or perhaps I am just too picky as I've experienced some amazing Italian restaurants both here in the USA and in Italy, sad for us this wasn't one of them. read more

I've been coming here for years! Great vibe, super comfortable space, great for a cold evening. The waiters here are great and really helpful with the specials and anything on the menu. I've loved everything they have here. They are also very accommodating; if you need more tomatoes they will bring you a whole bowl of delicious tomatoes! I hope this place never changes! read more

Tried this spot for the first time on a Thursday night after seeing an Instagram post. We ordered a bottle of wine and 3 different apps. Octopus was over cooked very chewy there was less than 6 arugula leaf on the dish Calamari was very standard nothing special The beets had no flavor and not well balanced also like an after thought. A large group of co-workers gathered at this restaurant. The server was incredibly attentive to all of our needs, including a dietary restriction of one of our co-workers. The food was served family style which allowed us to try various items on the menu while satisfying different appetites around the table. I have long been a fan of Gary York's, since the first iteration of Enoteca Sogno on W. Broad near VCU about 15 years ago. He had a seafood place on Grove, too, about 10+ years ago. I had heard that he'd reopened Sogno on Bellevue in Northside ... and promptly forgot until a couple weeks ago. Delighted to see the place serving up all the terrific stuff I remembered from the place on Broad, with the joint jumping on a Friday night in January. Pasta is always great - my tagliatelle with wild mushrooms was glorious. And the wine list is intense - half the reason to go to Sogno is to try Italian wines you don't see on other lists. Gary's relationship with vintners in Italy is kinda legendary - he runs trips to Italy pretty much every year, which could be a good option for your next vacation. read more

This is a nice little neighborhood wine bar and pastaria. It sits in bellvue near another great restaurant. I ate here in late September 2020 and their were few people on a weekday. Despite this, the menu was extensive and the service superb. I would be interested in seeing what it's like without the pandemic. Definitely a date night spot read more

Ordered a few apps and a bottle of wine to share and got off to a pretty good start. Good enough that we were willing to put up with how cold it was at our table. Our pastas arrived and I was so disappointed. It was the worst shrimp scampi I have ever had. There was absolutely no flavor on the pasta. I could see garlic but couldn't taste it or any butter. The liquid in the plate was more like water. Such a letdown and it really impacted my evening. By the time anyone came back to our table to check on things, never even had water refilled, everyone else was done and I was just ready to go home. This little spot is so so good. The dish that I keep thinking about is the white bean, arugula crostini. Creamy, crunchy and simple = PERFECTION in one dish. Thin slices of red onion really rounded out the creamy, richness of the beans. Amazing. My S.O. got the mixed seafood past that had a light and delicious broth that was loaded with flavor. Our table also shared one of their charcuterie plates and were extremely satisfied with the meat & cheeses served. I truly loved the atmosphere of this place. The front of house is quant, cozy and unsuspecting while back of house is nailing each dish served. We will definitely be back again to venture down the menu some more. read more
