I don't say this lightly: Fairuz Cafe serves the best Turkish coffee I've had. Period. And I'm saying this as someone who grew up on Turkish coffee in Palestine and Jordan, and searched for the real thing across countless cafes in the States. The search is over. The coffee here isn't just good -- it's correct. The grind, the heat, the cardamom -- everything is dialed in with the kind of care you only get from people carrying a tradition, not following a recipe. The basbusa is outstanding -- house-made, fresh, with that perfect syrup-to-semolina balance so many places get wrong. Best I've had in years. Can't wait to try their kunafa next. What really sets Fairuz apart is the atmosphere. This is a family-owned spot and you feel it the second you walk in. Hubby and I made it a Sunday morning coffee date for a good cup of coffee. This is in a strip mall. Inside is nicely decorated. The only thing for me is that it feels a little like a nighttime vibe but it only sells bakery goods and coffee type drinks. We were the only ones there, so it felt almost too big. They have a pool table, which was surprising and I wasn't sure if we could use that. One other couple came after a bit. I think if it were full, it would have been really nice. Husband got a double espresso and I ordered an Americano. His was in a cute cup, but mine was in a to-go cup with a lid. Since we were sitting in, I would have preferred a nice mug. We ordered a few pastries to bring home. I presume it was the owner working and he was very welcoming. He was cleaning the entire time (9am ish). On the positive, the place looks spotless. I did feel it was a little odd to mop while open and in the morning. The chocolate pastry in this picture was 10/10 for me, so good! It had so much flavor and texture with chocolate, pistachio and maybe some caramel. Would definitely go back, particularly to get items to take home. read more

The cafe was graced by an aggravating construction project outdoors when I visited, but nonetheless the interior atmosphere was largely peaceful. While coffee seems to be the focus, they take their tea seriously. A standing pot on a bed of hot sand is on display, and I was served straight out of the pot with a strong tea, which I asked for black in order to complement the pastry. I sampled a hazelnut cake and found that it was actually on the semisweet side and not excessively sugary at all, but the nut flavor certainly came through. The little Arab girl in me is so excited by all the new Arab spots opening up in the Richmond area. I love this coffee shop's shoutout to Lebanese-icon, Fairuz. I came here with a friend for some fun sweet treats and coffee. I ordered the Turkish coffee with cardamom which was absolutely divine. The person working the front was very passionate about the pastries. When I had called one the Iranian name I grew up with, he corrected me. It made me giggle because I always grew up with seven different names for the same dessert. He also did this for a few other pastries. I got the zalabiah, Egyptian style kunafa, and chocolate cake. The pastries I ordered were a bit different from the ones I've grew up with. They felt like slightly different variations which was cool. I will admit, the chocolate cake wasn't for me. The coffee was the real star of the show for me here. For fans of Turkish sand coffee, it was very fun to watch the process and smell the delicious coffee. There are plenty of seating options here. I especially love how intimate the booths feel. There are two swings in front that will look incredible for all your Yelp photos. It's a really huge space. Since it's in a strip mall, there is a lot of easy and free parking outside. I'd be excited to return to try other items on the menu. read more

I love everything about this cafe!! The atmosphere is relaxing and the customer service has been great everytime we've been here. They have these custard/cake cups that are so creamy and flavorful. The coffee is strong and the teas are well brewed. I also love the selection of pastries and always leave with a handful of Turkish delights. We noticed this place from the street and came in on a Monday afternoon. We tried their hot chocolate, green tea, Turkish sand coffee, and two types of baklava. Everything was delicious and fresh! I really enjoyed the store itself as well. It's extremely spacious, has a great ambiance of lighting and decor, and clean, comfortable seating. My kids enjoyed a chocolate roll while watching Bluey. The owner is friendly and welcoming. He handed out goody bags to go! It is a nice cozy cafe/ hang out spot. It can be a popular place for young adults to study/ work or hang out with friends. It is also spacious and comfortable for families with children. They have a pool table, table with a large chess set, TV playing a kids show (Bluey) on one side, and a cute swing set for instagram pics. Their layout is excellent for great conversations and catch up session with friends. At 3 ish on a sluggish Sunday afternoon and it was the perfect place to be. The coffee was served in a beautiful ornate cup. It was more of a coffee shot. The coffee here hit the spot! My husband and I recently stopped in to Fairuz cafe on a Saturday morning where they have a pleasant atmosphere and an abundance of seating. They even have two unique "alcoves" (individual stations) where one can sit at a little work ledge. We ordered a latté which was big enough to split and was tasty. After Achmed (sp?) made the latté, with a straight face he asked if I wanted my picture on top of the frosted milk. I laughed because I thought he was joking. He then explained they had a machine which could take & "print" our picture on top of the frothy milk using a cartridge of cocoa (using technology similar to a laser printer cartridge). We thought it was pretty unique but maybe we don't get out enough. They've only been business for three months so they're still getting established. They have a wide assortment of pastries, teas, and coffees. If you're looking for a locally-owned coffee shop, please send them your business. It's a really lovely space to catch up with a friend - whether you get your face imprinted on your frothy milk or not. read more
