Stopped here for a quick breakfast with my husband. It's a cute little place with friendly staff. My husband got the Philly sunrise, the flavor was good but there was a lot of extra bread happening on the ends of the sandwich. I cannot remember the name of the dish I ordered, it was some type of Benedict with corned beef on it. I thought it was great and a good portion size. We both got the potatoes and both felt like they could have used a little bit of crispiness on them. I hadn't eaten there before this visit so I'm not sure if that's just how they make their breakfast potatoes, but we did both eat them all. I probably would not order them again if that's the way they typically make them but I would happily order other breakfast and lunch options again in the future. read more

I stopped by Eat 66 this past Sunday around noon for the first time after dropping off some donations at Furbish in the same shopping center. They were running on a 15-minute wait. We were then seated in a booth by the door, so I had a great view of the restaurant. It gives major diner vibes, which I love, and several of the friendly servers seemed to be working together to take care of the tables, which was nice to see as well. I ordered a coffee, which was average, and their Philly Sunrise sandwich (cheesesteak, no onions, added mayo) with a side of bacon. The sandwich was delightful and unique, and the bacon was perfectly crispy. I heard great things about their biscuit and french toast, too. I wouldn't hesitate to return to try more of their menu. read more

The Perfect Mom & Pop Diner - exactly what the doctors ordered (meaning the perfect post-night shift meal for me and my fellow resident doctor friend). As a self-proclaimed scrapple enthusiast, I was so pleased with my order. Crispy on the outside, delicately chewy on the inside with a hefty helping of potatoes and toast/eggs to go with. So much food for so little cost - and the service was top notch. My kids live in VA, I live in MD - one of the things we do is we try out new restaurants together; that usually means its new-to-me, but the kids like it so we go for it. I'm a big fan of diners - found myself in quite a few of them over the years, and while they all share similarities, there's always differences to be noted. One of those differences is in service. The people who work at this location are some of the nicest people you're ever likely to meet - we were going to need a table for 8, but at that point only my wife and I were present. Kids being kids, they were running behind - and they have kids of their own so you may know how that is. A lot of establishments have a rule that you can't get seated until your entire party is present. Not this place - we told them we were still waiting for the kids and they went ahead and pushed tables together til they had enough seats and then sat us. They serve alcohol so we ordered drinks to tide us over til the kids and grands showed up. When they (eventually) did, the wait staff were ready and before you knew it, drinks were delivered, orders taken and a few minutes after that, food started coming out of the kitchen. I find that location will oftentimes have an impact on the menu of a restaurant and this is no different. You ordinarily can't get scrapple at a diner unless its down south and it was an option on this menu. My wife is a huge fan of it, I'll never touch it. But my point is that there's a lot of variety - fried catfish is on the menu, as is fried green tomatoes and several versions of a frittata - I didn't even know people still ate those! If you find yourself in the area and just want some good comfort food, look no further. Like most diners, there's breakfast, which is served all day, but they offer full-on dinner entrees; I had the burgers and gravy, mashed potatoes and some really savory green beans. I expect I'll be back again before long. read more

I'm prioritizing eating Black in honor of BHM and my first stop was Eat 66. They serve all-day breakfast and lunch aka brunch. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. I had the "Southern Belle" cocktail and it tasted like a cold glass of tea on a hot summer day. But with a splash of spirits lol. In one word, divine! For food we had the "Cajun Catfish" with cheese eggs and grits and a huge pancake! We also got French toast and the home fries. Everything was delicious! I get why it was quiet because everyone was too busy going to town on their food lol it was SUPER GOOD!! The service was delightful and I will definitely be coming back regularly! If you're looking for a good diner in the Richmond area, this place is definitely a must try! The people are great and friendly, and the food portions are big... although we didn't take any pictures of the food, I ordered the Big City and it was delicious. It felt like one of our diners at home (Guam). We were a party of 7, so they are able to accommodate big families/parties. It didn't take long to be seated and after we ordered, it didn't take long for the food to come out... Went with a small group to eat breakfast this morning and a ROACH crawled across the table. The waiter came and grabbed the ROACH and threw it in the trash... and continued to bring us our check. We left a $20 tip and didn't make too much fuss about it but we will NEVER EVER return. They told us they sprayed roach spray the night before...which is okay, but to not even offer a discount makes me think this happens often!! read more

We had to be on the Southside for an early Drs. appointment and decided to go to breakfast afterward as usual. We have gone to Joe's Inn Bon Air, but wanted to try a different place. I have to say, this place was great no pretentiousness, just great food and service. Gee was very accommodating with his explanations of how the dishes were prepared and even gave a small taste of the home fries for my companion who is a very particular eater. She ordered them by the way as did I. They reminded me of how my mother made her fried potatoes. My companion ordered the plain white gravy biscuit with eggs and home fries. I ordered the Big City breakfast with a pancake added. Had I known how large their biscuits were, I would have skipped the pancake, though it too was very good. They also have sausage gravy and chipped beef gravy. Their sausage is made in a hand formed patty not links or premade. There is a difference, especially if you grew up on the farm. The music they played was a nice mix of tunes from the early 60's into the 80's it played in the background and was still easy to have a conversation. There is a wide variety of items on the menu for breakfast and lunch. I am looking forward to going back again to try some of the other dishes. read more

Serendipity!! We found this adorable diner by accident! The restaurant we meant to go to was closed, so this place was in the same plaza! Yes, score! Eat 66, we are so glad we found you! Beachy colors splashed on with walls with nostalgic décor, roadsigns and lit with fun fixtures! We were immediately greeted by a outgoing server with a big smile! The menu is so appetizing with breakfast all day and country lunches like Salisbury steaks, Po'boys, Meatloaf, and other Southern favorites plus lots of great sandwiches to choose from! My friend chose the chicken and dumplings which were homemade and hearty! I tried the dish and the chicken was tender, and the dumplings were perfect, not those lame noodle ones but fluffy clouds of goodness! Yummy!! I'd go back just for that meal! The most amazing bite I put in my mouth? The fried green tomatoes! Perfectly golden, crispy on the outside served with dill sauce and remoulade! Oh my!! Towanda!!!!! Get in my belly!! It's OK. I had the scrapple breakfast that comes with 2 eggs cooked to order, wheat toast, hash browns and coffee. I read where they serve scrapple which is liver mush where I come from in North Carolina. It was undercooked as were the hash browns. The coffee was meh. If you haven't eaten at eat 66, then you're missing the best breakfast in Richmond. Like a hidden treasure, the restaurant is tucked in the back of Stratford Hills Shopping Center. Only opened from 7am to 2pm and offers only OUTSTANDING customer service - friendly greeting, responsive service, and collaborative team. This is the ONLY place that I found that cooks eggs perfectly! Today, I tried the pancakes and I must share the vanilla clouds were fabulous. I could not finish my plate because they were huge! When you come, you will be inspired by owner-operator, Miranda, checking tables, taking orders, and filling coffee as she learns her neighbors names. Food: 9/10 We got the long dale and Josh's wake up call and both were absolutely delicious! The long dale had very tough corned beef so the functionality of actually eating it was compromised but it was definitely rescued by the incredible flavor and perfectly toasted bread. Josh's wake up call was probably the best breakfast sandwich I've ever eaten. From the buttery biscuit to the savory, tender pork chop every bite was better than the last. Service: 10/10 Regrettably, i didn't catch our waitress's name but she was fabulous. She was attentive and personable. Her co workers exceeded expectations as well noticing when my coffee cup was low and refilling it while our waitress was busy elsewhere. I don't feel this place has kept up with it's flair. My wife and I had breakfast there this morning 5/14/24. She had the catfish and biscuit and apples. I had a custom omelette and biscuit and potatoes. The potatoes were cold and the biscuits were hard. We also noticed the young lady who would carry the food to the table eating near the pickup window fries and something else. Almost seemed as she was eating from people's orders. Never washing her hands or placing gloves on she would serve these plates to the customers. We did notify Gee as he introduced himself to us. We only received 5.00 dollars off the 2 meals.
