I loved this place for breakfast and beef tips! I recommend to my neighbors and offered to pick up for them. They asked for delivery to car, I was right in front but had to go in anyways. They ordered 3 sides as directed by menu. (Others reviewed same problems) They refused to honor their order claiming it was error on my neighbors part. After a friend's recommendation we decided to stop in for a late lunch. When we walked in there were two servers chatting with the cashier and all three ignored us for several minutes. It was very awkward. Once we were seated our server was excellent. She was very attentive and had great suggestions. I had the french dip sandwich and my husband had the reuben sandwich. Love this eatery! Been coming here for years, through all of the various changes! The sauce gravy & biscuits are amazing! The breakfasts are always good! Grits are just ok. I enjoyed my lunch experience at Kitchen33 last month. It was my first visit. I ordered a coffee and a club sandwich with fries and a side of honey mustard for dipping. My mom had the navy bean soup (and raved about it) and their chicken tenders. We enjoyed everything we ordered, and our server was delightful. Dad and I stopped in for a quick breakfast at this charming diner style restaurant. Our service was friendly and attentive and our food was great! I had brisket eggs Benedict that had some fresh wilted spinach on it and a side of tater tots fried in BEEF TALLOW! they have separate fryers one with beef tallow and one with soybean oil. Love this!! The eggs were perfectly cooked and the brisket was a neat change from traditional Benedict. Other Benedict options included traditional, VA ham, or OYSTERS! Dad had blueberry pancakes and sausage links and reported that both were delicious although the sausage was a little dry. We both had coffee which was kept topped off by our great server Rebecca. Catfish dinner was great. The sides, onion rings and collards, were delicious. Service is always kind and efficient.

The service was fast and easy. A great menu with a few specials. I had a scallop special and my partner had catfish. All of the food was perfectly cooked! This was our first time here, and the food and service was topnotch. My mom had fried flounder with onion rings and potato tots, and I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with potato tots. The flounder was a large piece, perfectly fried with a thin batter, and flaky meat. The potato tots and onion rings were ample and tasty. My cheeseburger was excellent, and I was quite surprised at the large side order of tots, sooo good! For dessert, she had pecan pie and I chose cherry coobler with vanilla ice cream. Yummy. Authentic country home cooking that's good for the planet! The breakfast (eggs Benedict) was so good I came back for dinner. For dinner, I got the fried catfish with spoon bread and collard greens. The spoon bread was the best I've ever had and the catfish and collards were soooo tasty. The catfish is fresh out the James and the spoon bread and collards were also homemade. The hummingbird cake for dessert was the best cake I've ever had. All their cakes are homemade and I've never seen a restaurant with such an extensive menu that is 99% homemade. AND they partner with local farms and other small eateries. AND they don't have any plastic in the entire restaurant. AND they partner with a nonprofit (American River Restoration) to clean Virginia's rivers. And the service (Tyler) was impeccable. Also the prices are so reasonable. Delicious country cooking. Service great. Homemade cakes are so good. My husband loved the Liver and Onions. He said it was so tender and cooked just right. I had the Burnt Ends which looked so delicious, crusty and tasty. They smoke their own meats. Unfortunately, the burnt ends were mostly fat and inedible. What a shame. I want to like Kitchen33 for a lot of reasons. First, unrelated to this business effort, I miss the previous restaurant in this space (Debbie's Kitchen) and really hoped something similar would land here. Second, while politics and social involvement have no place on yelp, I have to acknowledge that I appreciate Kitchen33's involvement in cutting down on restaurant waste and using their proceeds for protecting waterways. That said, as much as I appreciate the owners and the location, I want to evaluate them solely on the restaurant effort. Kitchen33 has a simple menu that belies the work that goes into some of the dishes. They have several smoked / barbecued meats on offer, as well as more traditional salad and sandwich offerings (we were not ther in time for breakfast, but will try soon.) The food we got was as good as expected or even better. Certainly the spoonbread was YUMMY. And the house-made pastrami was as good as can be expected form most restaurants but not as good as I would expect for being house made. When I say steak and cheese to you you probably envision thin cut strips of ribeye, piled moderately high. The steak and cheese here is apparently smoked brisket. It was too heavily smoked for my wife's taste, but within the limits for me. A good sandwich, probably better than I expected, but a better menu description would have kept me from ordering something heavier than I actually received. It was fine. Service was slooooow. 45 minutes between order and food kind of slow. Friendly. Nice. Apologetic every 10 minutes. But slow. 'Nuf said. Kitchen33 is open most days breakfast and lunch only, with a dinner menu on Friday and Saturday. To get more frequent business from me, they will need to open more evenings. Never again!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. Placed an order online using their website. Selected curbside pickup and tipped since they would be bringing it to me. Order was supposed to be ready at 6:12...waited for a while and nothing so went in. I was told my option only came with one side (I had selected 2). I was asked if I still wanted 2 and advised I would need to pay additional. While then waiting for food that was already supposed to be ready to be prepared I pulled up their site where it says select up to 2. When handed my food I started to show my phone and before I could finish my sentence was told "I'm gonna cut you off we know it says 2 other people have complained about it". After suggesting they should fix it I was told they won't. After all this once home, one of the sides was missing. Called and was told there was no one there that could give a refund and I'll have to call back tomorrow. As for the food this is the rotten lettuce I took off of my sandwich. read more

Today, Saturday, July 19, my wife and I came here for breakfast. We were seated and provided coffee at 9 a.m. We then spent 20 minutes waiting for someone to take our order. When a waitress did come by she informed us they were not taking orders because their system was down and we would have to wait. I paid for our coffee and we left most likely never to return. The question is: HOW LONG WERE THEY GOING TO LET PEOPLE SIT THEIR BEFORE TELLING THEIR CUSTOMERS THEIR SYSTEM WAS DOWN AND THE COULD NOT TAKE ORDERS??? Not a good way to treat people. read more

Came here for breakfast on our way home. They were crazy short staffed, but that didn't stop our server from working her butt off. She was the server, hostess, busser, food runner, etc. the place was busy too. We started with coffee and I got the French toast with bacon and hash browns. I wasn't expecting the French toast to be good, honestly, but I really liked it. I could have eaten another serving. The bacon melted in my mouth. I loved it. The hash browns were like cut up potatoes, so not really hash browns but still good. My bf got some huge plate that came with everything. He liked it. Weekend Regulars Left in the Cold I know it was Fathers Day but, We've been loyal patrons of this restaurant for months--every weekend like clockwork. The food has always delivered, and up until now, the service was something we recommended to friends. But this last visit left a bad taste--and not from the food. There was a line of at least 20 people waiting to be seated, and the place was clearly short-staffed. Understandable--things happen. What wasn't understandable was the dismissive tone from the hostess, who told the entire group that without a reservation, there would be at least a 40-minute wait. This would have been fine if we had known reservations were suddenly required. But that's never been the case before--and certainly not something regulars like us were informed about. No greeting. No courtesy. Just a flat "you should've made a reservation." No effort to accommodate, no apology for the wait, no acknowledgment that standing out front week after week might mean something. We still love the food here. But we hope management steps up--hires enough staff, trains their team on basic hospitality, and makes sure loyal customers don't feel like an inconvenience. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed the food, and our server Kristina was excellent. My BFF and I ate a late lunch at Kitchen 33, I remember it as Debbie's Kitchen last time I had been there. BFF and I shared a Club sandwich and fries and the Salad plate, and also a slice of Boston Creme Pie Cake. The Club was huge with the Turkey, Ham, and Bacon lettuce tomato, we had enough to bring back a fourth of our share to bring home for later. The Salad Plate was exceptional with loose leaf lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers we devoured the salad with the delicious Catalina French salad dressing. We had a slice of Boston Creme Pie Cake it was delicious. Thank you, Kristina, for the great service, checked on us to make sure if we needed anything, had no issue of us sharing the club or salad or dessert provided the extra plate and utensils necessary for us to use. It was very reasonable price wise as other places we have been to lately, we will definitely visit them again. read more

I found Kitchen 33 on Yelp when I was in the area. I was intrigued by their mission when I clicked through their website. I'm glad that I gave it a try. Service was very efficient and my omelet came out quickly. I was able to link my Toast account and pay my bill using Apple Pay at the table. I prefer this over using my physical card. Thanks for providing this speedy option. The server also offered to take care of the bill for me, so you are not forced to use the QR code to pay. I'll be back to try lunch in the future. Delicious!! Did a curbside order today, which was fast and efficient. You could customize the order online, which was great. As a parent of young kids, I really appreciate the curbside option so that I don't have to drag kids inside just to pickup food. The club sandwich and onion rings were amazing!! You can choose what type of bread you want and customize toppings. The side of baked apples (not pictured) was so delicious!! Prices are great. I'd spend about the same amount at a fast food restaurant nowadays, and this food is way better! I'll definitely be back!! read more
