Station 2 is a good option for a late night casual bite since they're open until midnight every day but I wouldn't go otherwise. The food is average and portions are slightly smaller than I'd expect. They do have an option for a half sized burger for $6, which is really nice when you don't want to commit to a full one. The service was a little slow when we went on a weeknight. Also the tables and benches were really sticky.

OMG! This pub was incredible. A great menu and full bar in a repurposed fire house. The staff is great and food and drink are excellent. I had the black and blu burger. My guest had a burger with Mac and cheese, and jelapano poppers. Food was delicious. Really incredible atmosphere.

A magical pressed burger with cheddar cheese and all of the offerings to the gods that made it.

I ordered a pressed burger tonight at 11:25PM (knowing full well the kitchen closed in 5 minutes)... and taking a bite just now-- this is legitimately the best, most affordable burger. Station 2 is for the locals but it's also for the people who just want a SOLID burger. Do not sleep on station 2. Their pressed burgers are affordable and filling. Their gourmet burgers are second to none. Better than any competitor in the area. Plus the staff are always so so nice. Makes "coming back" feel like "coming home".

Being honest this place is absolutely terrible. The tables and entire place are covered in grime. The waitresses are too busy with what appears to be socialization/dating on the clock (to me) to care for their tables and it took over 45 mins to get food on table one time. Other times they were just always on their phone somewhere or talking to people instead of providing attentive service. The food is BAD nasty and mediocre, the kitchen, prep table, utensils, anything the food touches likely needs cleaning based on the taste. Trivia is nice and so is the flight special, other than that SKIP THIS DIVE

Station 2 is a gem of a place with great cheap food that I would be glad to be a regular at... if it were located somewhere else. Came here yesterday for trivia with a few friends and was reminded of why I don't come to shockoe bottom more: pretty sketchy place. Obviously a bunch of other people feel comfortable enough here but as someone who used to work in security, I noticed a lot of red flags in the blocks surrounding this place. Be vigilant. As for Station 2 itself, I was very impressed. The interior is charming, the seating was comfortable and not cramped, the service was exemplary, and the trivia was excellent too. The menu prices are extremely affordable by modern standards, with some appetizers of decent size under $10. I opted for the American nachos (pictured) and they were delicious, not bad for $8! The craft beer selection is great, and while I opted for a Hardywood Gingerbread Stout on this occasion, their alcohol milkshakes looked amazing. Might try one in the future if I venture this way again. All things considered, I want to come back here, but safety is something I take seriously, so I would not risk the safety of family or dates bringing them here personally. Your mileage may vary, though your dollar will go far here! Overall: 4.0 stars ----- Pros: - Outstanding service from our server, memorably pleasant. - Great interior design, former firehouse. - Excellent food at reasonable prices. - Good draft beer selection. Cons: - The area this is in is worrisome, I recommend parking as close to station 2 as possible. - Speaking of parking, it can be tough to find some here depending on time and day of the week. I was lucky and found some on the street a block away. If you have to park more than three blocks away or so, maybe visit another day.

I can't get enough of these burgers. All the food I've had here was a hit. Service is great. The bartender Josh is super nice! They constantly have different beers and burger specials. Lots of vegan options.

The food here is absolutely delicious! Their version of the poutine fries really knocked it out of the park. My boyfriend really liked the grilled cheese burger and I adored the beer cheese burger. I liked being able to get a salad without a large upcharge too. They have so many ciders and beers to choose from. The waiter was very quick to greet us and helped put together a great flight of beers for my boyfriend. He regularly checked on us and made sure we were happy with everything. The adult milkshakes... Omg! So delicious! You almost can't even tell they're alcoholic. This is a little hole in the wall joint that's hard to find unless you know where to look for it. There is a covered seating area outside though I don't think it was available to sit there when we went. It is very loud in here, I think partially due to the building itself. If you don't care about having conversations while you eat and just want good food that's not super expensive, definitely check this place out! We definitely haven't regretted coming.

Had a pretty good burger at Station 2. It's an old fire station converted to bar/restaurant. Service was good, family enjoyed their meals. As an ex-firefighter, had to try it out. A good selection of area beers that were wonderful.

Came here for their trivia night with some friends. I had been wanting to try this spot for a very long time. I like their aesthetic and what they're going for, but my biggest complaint is it was LOUD. I could hardly hear myself think here. This is no one's fault, and it might be better on a less busy night without someone announcing things on a microphone, but we were all screaming at each other adding to the cacophony of screeching diners. I ordered the grilled cheese burger. I loved the concept, but something was off about the meat. I couldn't place it, but it didn't taste right. I was ok when I got home and so were my friends who got burgers too. The sweet potato tots were fine. I liked having a non-fry option! I like how creative they are with their burgers here. My friend got the Elvis burger (the one with peanut butter) and I have to admit, that was a new combination for me! I'm interested in coming back at a less busy time to try other things on the menu because this spot was cool.

Four of us went here for dinner. It is a really cool place that was an old fire station converted to a restaurant. The hole in the ceiling where the pole was is still there. This place is down town and parking can be tough. We ended up having to pay to park at a public parking area because we could not locate a spot. There is a decent craft beer list to choose from as well. The menu is predominantly burgers and all 4 of us got different ones. My son and I both got ones that had some spice/peppers on it and they had a little kick to it. Our waitress was fantastic with a great smile, attitude and was very attentive. Cool place to go

Jackson Ward, Downtown

This was my 2nd visit to Lillie Pearl at their new location at 305 Brook Road. I absolutely love…read morethe new location. The decor and the ambiance are invigorating & soul soothing concurrently. On both occasions I ate in the upstairs dining area & I really enjoyed being able to look out their windows & observe the hustle & bustles of Broad Street while dining. The music that played in the background while we dined was the perfect aural companion to a down home Southern cuisine centered meal. As you know, I love when the music in the restaurant compliments the cuisine & Lillie Pearl's playlist is top notch. During our dining time, we ordered their Smoked Wings as our appetizer. The wings were perfectly seasoned & visually appealing. However, I found them to be a bit dry & overcooked for my taste. My dining companion, however, had no problem with the wings texture. She enjoyed them very much. For my main meal, I ordered their Wild Game Burger[a mixture of Waygu Beef, Bison & Wild Boar] with a side order of Fries. The burger was cooked perfectly. It was well seasoned & juicy. The fries were delicious. They were crispy and also perfectly seasoned. I could have eaten a whole plate of just the fries alone. I ordered a cocktail to complement my meal, the Sweetest Thing. It was bright, crisp & a perfect drink for my food. As for Customer Service, Our server was courteous & attentive & knowledgeable about any menu changes we needed to be aware of. Also of note for me was that I had a reservation I needed to change to an earlier time slot & the staff was able to accommodate my request expediently. I also appreciated the fact that they informed me in advance that they were still on the Lunch menu & not dinner as my initial reservations had requested. I find that type of honesty & transparency refreshing & is definitely one of the reasons I will ALWAYS be a loyal Lillie Pearl customer.

On to the meat and potatoes: Got seated quickly (had a res). Server (Caleb) was attentive, but not overbearing which was nice. Helped me out with ordering the brussel sprouts, suggesting them as a side instead of the appetizer (since it was just me) which was cool. Food: Phenomenal. Ordered the braised short ribs with a side of fried brussel sprouts. Short ribs were meaty, super tender, flavorful and plentiful. Served over mashed potatoes. With a (large) side of really good collard greens. The brussel sprouts were different from any other brussel sprout I've ever had. Very much had a "kung pao chicken" vibe to them (that's what Caleb called it, and he was right). Really really good. Only downmark is on the banana pudding. It was "good" don't get me wrong.....but it was super sweet and didn't have any real bananas or Nilla wafers in it. I would have been happy if the serving was 1/2 the size it was (because it was so sweet, couldn't eat the whole thing). Just came off as overly commercial. All in all a great meal, and a great start to a Saturday evening.

The service was a little too leisurely for my temperament, and the tab did arrive at the table on one piece of paper when we had clearly requested that there be a separate tab for each couple, but those would be my only complaints. We all had cocktails, one from their specialty list and three that were standard issue. All were delicious and had an appropriate alcohol content for cocktails. The restaurant week menu provided a good variety of choices. Everything we had was really delicious. Portions were generous, so I could not eat more than about half of each course and not get overly full, but I assume they are sized for all but the hungriest diner. The venue's sound level was pretty high. I could have left my hearing aids at home so I wouldn't hear as much of the background noise. Noisy restaurants are pretty standard, I guess. We will definitely be returning to Alewife. It will probably take the place of Grisette in the rotation, which has been dropped because of institution of a fee for reservations canceled less than 24 hours in advance. I don't think it should be treated as a privilege to dine somewhere. The Hemingway quote at the bottom of the tab was a little weird. Not a Hemingway fan, but I guess it was an interesting thing to do.

Street parking only but wasn't hard to find. We came in being one of the first parties in. Our server explained the menu in full and all the specials in full. To drink we had the Bebot and the Monkey Business to start, both were really good. The thing we knew we needed to have to eat was the Siren's Song special which was a lazy Susan full of different dishes. The Siren's Song consisted of oysters, fried clam strips, smoked fish dip, seared tuna, pineapple fried rice, and a fried fish collar (sorry don't remember the fish, maybe Skate) with a Szechuan dry rub on it. This seriously was an amazing display. Every single dish just took it up a notch. They were also super nice to accommodate making it pescatarian because the Siren's Song usually has meat elements. The fried collar really blew me away. So meaty, fried perfectly, and the dry rub was so flavorful but not too salty or hot. Despite finishing the whole Siren's Song, we also got the Cascatelli without guanciale which was also delicious. We finished off with their caramel custard which wasn't too sweet and had a great mix of textures and flavors. Also tried one of their NA drinks and a glass of their special chilled Grenache Noir which was surprisingly good (not a big red wine fan). Overall, we absolutely loved it here. Each dish was amazing, drinks were also good, service was on point, and it was just a beautiful dinner. We will definitely be coming back.

It's served with one whole waffle, two large pieces of fried chicken, and syrup on the side. The chicken was not seasoned as much as I hoped and wasn't as spicy as I expected, which was a bummer. The cheese grits were alright as well, but not as flavorful as I hoped. My partner ordered the Double Barrel Bowl, and he really enjoyed it. It was packed with pulled pork and was plentiful and filling. The service: Great and kind service from Mave (I believe that is her name but I'm not entirely sure). We arrived around 5:00 or 6:00 in the evening. We didn't have a reservation on a Saturday (surprise, surprise), but there were open seats on the patio and at the bar. We chose the patio, and while patio chairs left something to be desired (some bolts need to be tightened or the chairs replaced, one), it was a pleasant night. Our server came out promptly. She was prepared, knew the specials, and was able to answer any questions we had. We ordered the pimento cheese and crostini for an appetizer. For dinner I ordered the signature burger with the sauteed broccolini as a side, and my partner chose the chicken pot pie. The chicken pot pie came out hot and smelled incredible. The signature Burger was medium, exactly as I ordered it. It was Juicy, tender, and tasted fantastic with its classic potato bun. The desserts sounded fantastic, especially the "fudgy tiramisu" as our server described it, but we were too full to try them. The GM came by our table to personally introduce themselves and ensure that our experience was excellent. I always respect that level of service and integrity. I feel remiss that I neglected to mention the patio chairs. Swing and a miss. The traffic noise on the patio can be somewhat grating, and we were approached by a panhandler/down on their luck individual as we were wrapping up the check. The cornbread was more dense than I'd like but the honey butter was delicious. The brussel sprouts lacked flavor and seasoning. The honeynut squash wasn't what I expected and I would've preferred the balsamic glaze over the brussels instead.
