Top shelf Happy Hour Drinks; amazing appetizers and a patio to die for! Count me in! I've checked out Burton's once before and had a few drinks. They of course didn't let me down but I was so surprised on how great the food was. The Bang Bang broccoli was hands down my favorite. So tangy and sweet with this crazy crunch. The garlic butter shrimp were amazing and cooked to perfection. I also had the most wonderful garlic bread slices. Literally could have eaten an entire basket with or without the guac. Burton's has such an amazing selection of alcohol. They don't even have rail alcohol just top tier offerings. I enjoyed an espresso martini made with tequila which was absolutely perfect. I also had a desert flower made with mezcal, elderflower and prickly pear. Listen I can't wait for another. I stopped by Burtons Grill & Bar for a late Wednesday afternoon lunch and was pleased to see a variety of appealing menu options, along with a great lunch deal on the menu. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak and a Greek salad, which was a satisfying combination. The lunch crowd was lowkey and relaxed and I noticed about four people pull up and break out their laptops at the bar to work while they ate. My late lunch snaked into happy hour, so I ended up ordering a cocktail and a key lime pie for dessert. The pie had a delicous graham cracker crust and tasty key lime flavor; however, I was pretty stuffed by this point so I couldn't finish it. Happy hour was really bumping with a great crowd. Nearly every seat at the bar was taken and the music was pretty good. One bartender was on duty servicing the entire bar on her own and when happy hour hit, she got slammed. She held it down though! This restaurant is a fantastic spot whether you are looking for a relaxed lunch or a lively happy hour to wind down the day. Beautiful restaurant, great food and vibes! I am absolutely blown away. Came here for a work dinner on the suggestion of a colleague. As someone who is gluten intolerant I have never felt more safe. They have their entire menu as gluten free options as well as a specific part of the kitchen for preparation. They also make sure to double confirm its gluten free when they bring it to your table, which if you have an allergy you know how much that means. The ambience was amazing and the waitress was a doll. I will absolutely return especially to the Cville location which is closer to home. read more

Overall, great first experience. I enjoyed the steak frites with bourbon shrimp. I thought it was solid except, the house chimichurri was a cream sauce. Not mad at it but far from chimichurri (update: they changed the menu online to the bearnaise, so it's making more sense..menus are to be updated in the location!) my spouse got the pasta. He enjoyed it, I thought it was rich. We also got bread service which was enough for 2 people-that's it. I had two sangrias, tasty but could've been stronger. I got the chocolate cake for free since it was my birthday. It was good but I wouldn't buy it again. Service was kinda slow...and it wasn't super busy. My spouse enjoyed his old fashioned. The food is so well-prepared that it does not seem like a chain at all. The ambiance is simple and stylish. It seems upscale while at the same time being comfortable. We started with the bag of donuts which were absolutely delicious. My husband and a friend had the short rib grilled cheese. Moist short ribs with cheese on a perfectly toasted challah bread with a side of au jus much like a French Dip. They both loved it! Another friend had the short rib hash which she also loved. My husband and his friend also shared the fried cauliflower which was great - crispy, soft, and moist in the middle - cooked a la General Tso's chicken. I ordered a coke without lemon. Hence, I have to say our waiter was one of the brightest and competent servers we have ever had. I ordered the lobster roll, but told him I was very fussy. He came back to tell me the lobster was marinated in a lemon sauce. Clearly, he remembered I did not like lemon. Not getting my lobster roll was a great disappointment, but the fact that our waiter took such care in helping us made up this. We would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

There is a reason Burtons is always so busy! It's truly delicious. They have a huge inclusive menu (the gluten free menu has plenty of options). This location is in in the newer section of Carytown across the street from Kroger. There is free street parking out front (Carytown style). On my recent visit with my mom for lunch, we were seated at high tops. I highly recommend ordering the crab cakes. They are really generous with the crab meat and they are so tasty. We shared a yummy strawberry salad and the crab cakes. It's a huge space, but it does get a bit busy. Service wasn't terribly slow, but on the slower side. They have womens and mens restrooms here. I have to say their bathroom wallpaper has to be among one of my fave bathroom wallpapers in the city (after Little Nickel lol). If you want yummy and filling food, Burtons is a good spot. read more

We are experts on this particular soup and I tell you...you will be hard pressed to find a better one than here. We both had the ribeye with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Came here for happy hour and was so surprised at how much I liked it! They have a fantastic happy hour special - with a lot of food options! We were able to split a Nashville chicken slider with chips (it was more of a sandwich size than a slider) and it was so good. The menu looks fantastic and there's something for everyone (lots of gluten free options for those who need/want it). The bartender was super friendly and gave some great suggestions on cocktails. My wife and I recently visited during happy hour and overall had a pleasant experience. Our server was excellent friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and provided great service throughout our visit. The only issue we encountered was our seating location. We were seated at a table directly behind the hostess stand. Normally this wouldn't have been a problem, but throughout our meal several hosts and servers gathered in that area and carried on conversations that were easily overheard by guests. The discussions included employees coming to work hungover, complaints about management, and other behind-the-scenes topics that customers really shouldn't be hearing while dining. I completely understand that employees will naturally have conversations with one another, and I have no issue with that. However, when tables are located so close to the hostess stand, there should be more awareness of what is being discussed within earshot of guests. It took away from the dining experience and left a negative impression despite the otherwise great service. I would recommend reminding staff to keep workplace conversations professional in guest-facing areas, especially when customers are seated nearby. Again, our server was wonderful, but this is something management may want to address. read more

Very disappointing experience at Burton's. We were initially seated in a cramped corner where another family had parked their stroller, despite there being plenty of other available seating. The hostess made no effort to address the situation or ask that the stroller be moved. Service was poor throughout the meal. Our server only seemed to appear to take our order and was otherwise absent. Even our drink order took about 15 minutes to arrive. He never checked back to see how our food was, whether we needed refills, or if everything was prepared correctly. My side dish was incorrect, which normally wouldn't be a big issue, but we waited about 20 minutes while I ate my entire entrée without the side. I finally saw the server standing in the entrance of the kitchen and were able to get his attention. When he finally acknowledged us, he almost seemed surprised, as if to say, "Who, me?" During the long wait, we saw him spending time on his phone and chatting in the kitchen rather than checking on customers. We never saw him on the floor. I would understand if he was busy with other customers and visibly working on the floor. To make matters worse, the mashed potatoes were extremely bland, and there wasn't even any salt available at the table. It was empty. What made this particularly frustrating is that we had the same server a few weeks ago and experienced many of the same issues, slow service, little attention to the table, and long stretches where he was nowhere to be found. After a second similar experience, it no longer feels like an isolated bad day. The experience ended on an awkward note as well. Because the server was standing there holding the card reader while I completed payment, I felt pressured to leave a larger tip than I otherwise would have based on the level of service provided. Overall, the lack of attention from both the hostess and server made for a frustrating dining experience. The only reason I am giving two stars is because the steak was cooked perfectly. Burton's has a reputation for good service and food, which made this visit especially disappointing. read more

Dinner on Saturday night after watching The Masters. We had a reservation, but were seated in the very back room, which felt like the kids table at Thanksgiving. No music, no chatter, bright lights... zero ambience. The food was generally good. My house salad was served without the advertised blue cheese, and my husband's Caesar was very underdressed. Both problems would be easily fixed except our server was so busy we didn't see him or anyone else in time to complain. Our salads were served at the same time as our appetizer, which made for a rushed meal. Speaking of appetizers, the cheesesteak spring rolls were the bomb. Our entrees (steak frites, short ribs) were very good. Steak frites was perfect, and the short ribs were tender, but under sauced and a bit dry. The accompanying English pea risotto was creamy with a hit of dill - very nice. We finished our bottle of wine in lieu of dessert. We may return in a pinch but won't go out of our way to eat here again. read more

We have been to Burtons twice. There is decent parking in the lot behind it as well as street options. It is a very popular place and the bar was really crowded... unfortunately they sat the 4 of us right by the bar. It was so loud it was hard to hear across the table. However, the food and service were good. We had salmon and a steak. Both of which were good. The drink options are also good. The second time we went there- we were not seated near the bar but we were behind an obnoxiously loud table. unfortunately, the loud lady was like that the whole time. It definitely took away from the experience. But the food and service were good that time as well. When we go back, it will probably be a weeknight. read more

Burtons has a very nice atmosphere and cool vibe going. We really enjoyed inside dining area. Unfortunately it was too chilly outside for the patio. We had the Crispy Fish Sandwich (bronzed) and the California Chicken Sandwich. "Brozing" is their thing. Our server recommended that style of preparing although I was originally interested in grilled haddock. I decided to take her advice and I was not disappointed at all. It was delicious. She explained that bronzing is their version of blackened. I'm not a fan of blackened because in my opinion it can be too flavorful and overpower the main dish. But the bronzing was really delicious and I'd definitely order food that way again. Our server was very friendly and checked on us frequently. The best part about this restaurant is the ambiance. A close second is the bread service (they charge for it, though). A close third is we noticed the manager on duty actively checked in with many of the nearby tables. We also love that this is a scratch kitchen and that they have a ton of gluten-free options and appear to be very allergy conscience. The part where they missed out for us for the food. I'd recommend skipping the Chicken Alfredo. It's a breaded chicken breast. My daughters weren't impressed with their entrees either. My wife's veggie bowl was above average. Seems like a great place to enjoy a glass of wine at the bar if you're on a date. Skip it for the food, though. read more
