This has become my favorite spot for a good meal with decent service. My one complaint is that the place is FREEZING in the dead of summer...... like they need to be actively advertising for their HVAC company..... Anywho. Every meal I have eaten has been perfect. Hot she crab soup with a punch of port wine oil. The shrimp is always done to perfection. And the vegetables are cooked well to retain some crunch. Like not a complaint about the meal or service. I have wven taken friends there because I know we won't leave disappointed.

Top shelf Happy Hour Drinks; amazing appetizers and a patio to die for! Count me in! I've checked out Burton's once before and had a few drinks. They of course didn't let me down but I was so surprised on how great the food was. The Bang Bang broccoli was hands down my favorite. So tangy and sweet with this crazy crunch. The garlic butter shrimp were amazing and cooked to perfection. I also had the most wonderful garlic bread slices. Literally could have eaten an entire basket with or without the guac. Burton's has such an amazing selection of alcohol. They don't even have rail alcohol just top tier offerings. I enjoyed an espresso martini made with tequila which was absolutely perfect. I also had a desert flower made with mezcal, elderflower and prickly pear. Listen I can't wait for another. Huge shout out to Yelp for the amazing event and our server Peggah who was absolutely the cutest. Great customer service; knowledgeable; made suggestions and was super personable. Will definitely be requesting her when I return.

I am absolutely blown away. Came here for a work dinner on the suggestion of a colleague. As someone who is gluten intolerant I have never felt more safe. They have their entire menu as gluten free options as well as a specific part of the kitchen for preparation. They also make sure to double confirm its gluten free when they bring it to your table, which if you have an allergy you know how much that means. The ambience was amazing and the waitress was a doll. I will absolutely return especially to the Cville location which is closer to home.

    Steak Frites with bourbon shrimp

Overall, great first experience. I enjoyed the steak frites with bourbon shrimp. I thought it was solid except, the house chimichurri was a cream sauce. Not mad at it but far from chimichurri (update: they changed the menu online to the bearnaise, so it's making more sense..menus are to be updated in the location!) my spouse got the pasta. He enjoyed it, I thought it was rich. We also got bread service which was enough for 2 people-that's it. I had two sangrias, tasty but could've been stronger. I got the chocolate cake for free since it was my birthday. It was good but I wouldn't buy it again. Service was kinda slow...and it wasn't super busy. My spouse enjoyed his old fashioned. I will be back but a few things could've been better.

Great food! Drinks were okay, would get them again but not my favorite. The steak was my favorite.

Delicious meal and great atmosphere! Walked in and hardly waited anytime even though they were busy. Our server was super friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. We ordered the lobster roll with truffle fries and crab cakes with a side salad and succotash. Everything was super flavorful and really exceeded our expectations- especially with so many gf options. Really appreciate how focused they are on allergies. Highly recommend!

Great location and really cool vibe that you can feel as soon as you walked in. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Start with the break, it was so delicious. One of the specials, when I visited, was Halibut, and the way it was cooked was similar to blackened. Every bite was great. Wonderful flavor, juicy and flavorful. There are a lot of other options on the menu that made it hard to choose, which means I will return.

I enjoy coming here every time the menu changes and I love that! Always great service I tend to sit at the bar most of the time. You do have to get in before it gets busy. They have outside and inside seating as well.

Had the classic burger with a side salad during lunch hours. Absolutely delicious and the location feels clean and the atmosphere is wonderful. Service was very friendly and asked specifically about food allergies which I very much appreciated!

We enjoyed the service. They support allergies and food substitutes. Our meal was delicious. Great variety in the menu. My husband's steak was good. I gave it four stars because I selected chicken piccata and it was good but the chicken was a little dry. I would come back here again, especially for lunch because they have great salad selections in which you can add protein. Our waitress was friendly, informative, and attentive.

    Crab Cakes and strawberry salad

There is a reason Burtons is always so busy! It's truly delicious. They have a huge inclusive menu (the gluten free menu has plenty of options). This location is in in the newer section of Carytown across the street from Kroger. There is free street parking out front (Carytown style). On my recent visit with my mom for lunch, we were seated at high tops. I highly recommend ordering the crab cakes. They are really generous with the crab meat and they are so tasty. We shared a yummy strawberry salad and the crab cakes. It's a huge space, but it does get a bit busy. Service wasn't terribly slow, but on the slower side. They have womens and mens restrooms here. I have to say their bathroom wallpaper has to be among one of my fave bathroom wallpapers in the city (after Little Nickel lol). If you want yummy and filling food, Burtons is a good spot.

Did yall get rid of the scallops!?

We just launched our Fall menu yesterday, so the Scallops & Creamed Corn came off. We hope you try something new off our Fall menu and let us know what your new go-to dish is!

Did they really charge $2 extra for ice on a vodka shot?

Hi Jeffrey, thanks for reaching out! When you order a shot it's a 1.5 ounce pour. When you get liquor on the rocks, it changes to a 2-ounce pour. You are paying for the difference in liquor, not the ice.

The staff was excellent throughout the evening and graciously accommodated special requests, which was greatly appreciated. We started with the fried green tomatoes appetizer, and they were fantastic -- huge portion and full of flavor. I ordered the short rib entrée, which was absolutely delicious and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The portion size was generous enough that I couldn't finish it all. Unfortunately, I had no room left for dessert. Highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you appreciate historic ambiance paired with elevated food and service. Hats off to the staff at Lillian who continue to be wonderful, but now that they have scrapped…read moretheir dollar oyster lunch specials, the food has absolutely nothing to offer. Like too many restaurants in the Scott's Addition area, this is seafood cooked without finesse and then absolutely brutalized with absurd amounts of palate fatiguing, brash, loud flavors. Every item on the menu endeavors to conceal mediocrity in the quality and handling of the ingredients with explosive, overwhelming additives meant to shock you into submission. Things like black garlic and chili oil, raw garlic, sesame seed oil, and punishing heat are inescapable on the menu, which really says to me loud and clear "we do not understand the appeal of seafood, and might have a fundamental misunderstanding about good food in general." I don't exaggerate when I say these dishes would be improved (setting aside things like inability to properly cook octopus) by scaling back the flavors to 5-10% the loudness level they are currently at, to let the ingredients speak, and to make the dining experience less of a punishing marathon with no relief. I have had much subtler and more skillfully balanced dishes at Indian and Thai restaurants, cuisines known for strong flavor profiles. I'm through listening to these Richmond restaurants trying to excuse simply bad food by claiming "that's the nature of the cuisine." In this case, Lillian claims that dishes characterized by these cacophonous competing flavors is "South American." No it isn't - the person conceptualizing the dishes is just a bad chef who doesn't know what he's doing, and at the prices Lillian charges, that's inexcusable. Drowning every dish in flavors that overwhelm the palate is not a way to respect your ingredients or your diner, and only communicates youth and insecurity. Anyone who's eaten widely and knows their ingredients will rightly feel assaulted and insulted by this overpriced, unskilled fare. To anyone who decides to go anyway: Good luck with the digestive distress, and with the taste that will still be left over in your mouth the next morning, no matter how much you brush your teeth.

Soon after we. Ordered the octopus and mussel appetizers a storm came in and the rain fell pretty hard. Our choices were to run back to the hotel or stay and dine huddled under an umbrella. I have tried it prepared many ways and here it was both tender and flavorful, really done well. Shrimp cocktail is usually pretty basic, but often the simplest dishes demonstrate the most skill. This is truly one of the best I have ever had. The shrimp were plump and flavorful. Their cooking stopped at just the right time leaving a slight bit of translucent hue, but still cooked through. Very nicely done. The salad with home ranch was dressed nicely and the dressing was light. The scallops were cooked well and perhaps my only criticism is that the corn purée was better in concept than execution. I can't say enough about the staff. We were two people on a Sunday night crazy enough to dine in a downpour. The staff never made us feel like they wanted to punch out, embraced us being outside and were creative in waiting on us with umbrellas to keep the food from getting wet. It would have been understandable for them to limit the trips to check on us, but they persevered and made us feel welcome.
