My partner and I were celebrating an anniversary and decided to give Ruth's Chris a try. Upon entering the restaurant, we were promptly greeted and shown to our table. The restaurant was nice and spacious, and there was something playing on the piano in the room. Our waiters were very attentive and helpful throughout the whole dinner. We ordered: - Calamari: this was very good, the Thai chili sauce that accompanied the dish was delicious! - Cowboy Ribeye: this was ok, it was cooked perfectly to our preference but lacked flavor - Sizzling crab cakes: this was also just ok, they had a lot of lump crab meat in there but also lacked flavor - Mashed potatoes: this was very disappointing, there was no flavor to it at all and the potatoes were very running. The texture was as if they used instant potato mix and added too much water - mushrooms: this was okay, pretty standard - bread: this was provided to the table and was fine - the bread also lacked flavor The service was amazing, we were checked on very often but not too often that our conversation was disrupted. However, the food overall was very disappointing, especially for the price we paid for. I'm not sure if we will be back.

I ate at Ruth Chris tonight and it was terrible. I requested for my steak to have no charring and unfortunately had to send it back. The manager Cicily Bodiford was horrible. She came to my table being extremely rude and very disrespectful. She stated you have sent your steak back before and I explained I've been coming here weekly for over 8 years and yes if charred I do. I explained to her I've sent my steak back 3 times in time period. Unfortunately twice with her. This is the first thing she said when approaching my table. I was shocked. She stated perhaps we can't cook your steak for you. While I was speaking she cut me off and continued to try to discourage me from ever returning. She was better as a hostess and her promotion to a manager with no problem solving skills makes her terrible at her position. When asked who was the GM, she stated they wasn't here and then stated she didn't who that would be. She offer no other resources of a complaint but herself when she was the one I need to speak to someone about. When you are paying $330-400 on a meal weekly ant that location on Huguenot, you expect better customer service. She even complained about me to her staff. Terrible Manager.

They were prepared for the holiday rush tonight!!! Everything was perfect! The host was sweet! Our waiter was wonderful! It was packed but not crowed! The food was delicious! Everything was cooked just as we ordered. Everything was fresh! The shrimp cocktail, 10/10. The goat cheese and artichoke dip, 10/10. The filet, cooked medium... it was so tender and juicy.... 10/10. The crabcakes were AMAZING!!! The meat was lump and juicy! 10/10. My favorite dish of everything was the sweet potato casserole... that was like 1000000/10!!! I would come back for that alone! This was our first time here and they did it right! We will be back!

Shout out to Timothy last night!! He was amazing! It was my boyfriend's and I's first time there and he helped us with the menu and gave AMAZING recommendations! We had the porterhouse for two, lobster Mac and cheese, loaded baked potato, 2 chocolate explosions, and the Benton-lane. Everything tasted fabulous, so much flavor in everything. I can't wait to try it again and I hope to get Timothy again as my server!!!

We're regular Ruth's Chris diners and decided to visit this location for its historic setting. The former plantation house is beautiful and I would have loved to look around more. It is at the end of a strip mall, but that just means that the parking is convenient. (No need to valet!) Food was top notch quality, but the service left just a little to be desired. Just small things like not asking if we wanted another round of cocktails or offering coffee with our dessert.

I get the hype. We've been to Ruth's Chris a few times for a birthday dinner and an occasional happy hour but hadn't been for over a year. This time was for Valentine's Day. We typically order calamari as an appetizer but this time I wanted to try the barbecued shrimp it was amazing. I'm dying to know what was in that sauce! For dinner I ordered the stuffed chicken breast and my boyfriend ordered the New York strip. We shared asparagus and lobster Mac and cheese. I already can't wait until our next visit. Also would like to mention Ashley our server who was super nice and always on it with whatever we needed. The piano player and a very nice touch as well and added that final fine dining touch.

when ever my travels bring me to the richmond area this restaurant is a got to go place. i have never been disappointed. both the food and service is top notch. our server the other night was Austin and was on point. i highly recommend this place

My coworker, whose wedding we attended, blocked rooms out at the Holiday Inn on Midlothian Turnpike near Johnston-Willis Hospital just a few minutes away. The home dates back to the mid to late 1800s with a barn nearby. The wedding we attended yesterday had the ceremony in the barn. It was truly a special place with light filtering in through cracks in the wood. After the ceremony the guests made their way over to the reception area on the far side of the house. A tent connects with the house, allowing guests to travel back and forth under cover, which was important yesterday as there was a bit of rain. There are beautiful grounds including a gazebo and a fire pit. The staff was very attentive and the food was great. There were about 190 people at this wedding and it never felt crowded. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a wedding venue.

We could not view the wedding ceremony because their wedding venue is in the top of a barn with wooden steps as the only access. No elevator! We waited in the reception tent instead. During the reception, my wife needed to go to the rest room. We discovered that there is no wheelchair access to the house where the restrooms are and the restrooms themselves will not accommodate a wheelchair. We had to carry my wife up the stairs to the bathroom. When I asked the owner if he'd consider putting in a wheelchair ramp, he copped an attitude and said "Ain't gonna happen", "It's never been a problem until now." If you have anyone in your family with functional needs or are elderly and need wheelchairs or walkers, I'd AVOID this place since the owner doesn't see the need to meet ADA compliance standards. UPDATE - They now have wheelchair access to the main house.

It's housed in an old general store that the owners fixed up for business. The atmosphere here is elegant meets shabby chic. It's one of the stores where the inventory is so cool and well displayed, it makes me want to buy something and take a little piece of the store's feeling home with me. You'll find cool plates and glasses, antiques, designer purses and other fun stuff. The owner also sells her landscape paintings here. It's worth planning the drive for some cool shopping. On one occasion I got my mom some really beautiful hand-blown juice glasses. Each one was different, but they made a lovely set. And I got about 6 glasses for something like $35. Not bad. Along with the store, there's a pretty patio and the owner sells boxed lunches. The menu is online. There's usually some sandwiches for sale, but you can also call and place a specific order by 4 p.m. the day before you want to go for lunch. I've never eaten here, I've only shopped, so I can't comment on the food either way. I can say I do love shopping in the store and will go back for gifts...be they for others or me!

When I try this at home, it looks like I'm having a yard sale in my living room. It's not really that far if you hop on the Powhite...I don't know why Richmonders think going to Midlothian is like traveling to another country. Of course, I spend a lot of time in that part of the city since I have family there. It's a great place for gifts, especially for somebody who already has everthing, because there are a lot of one-of-a-kind things to wear or home accessories. I love the colorful cowboy hats and always see dishes or glasses I would like to have, but I've put a moratorium on buying stuff like that until I can afford a big hutch or china cabinet. I haven't ever had lunch there, but there's a really cute patio area so it looks like it would be a fun place to take a break from a hard day of shopping (or hunter-gathering as I like to think of it). I wouldn't call this an inexpensive place...more mid-range or pricing like you would expect in a Carytown boutique.

Beautiful waterfront location but there is work needed here…read more.. Signage is super confusing when you first pull in - it's really narrow one-lane roads/paths throughout and it's like a maze, one where you can't turn around you just have to loop through... So the signs need to be more clear and much larger and say it's one-way or "do not go this way" because if someone messes up and goes the wrong way - you'd have to back up or drive off the asphalt and into grass and tree roots on steep declines, um no. One of my best friends got married last weekend at the Heron's View waterfront gazebo with her reception at the outdoor Garden site which has a beautiful gazebo and a wooded water path walk over the water which is very picturesque but when you park in the gravel lot you have to walk a loooong way and once you get to the "celebration" tented area it's all pine needles and roots with no specific path from the gravel lot to the tables, chairs, dance floor, or wooden bridge. With guests in heels and long dresses, they should have a clear path for people to walk easily on to get down to the water and wooden bridge. The "bridal suite" and bathroom area in this location is very rudimentary, small, and rustic shed. It's much nicer inside than expected once we got inside - but it's super small. Our party was 3 bridesmaids and 1 bride and with the four of us and our things, it was a tight fit. For people who have 10+ bridesmaids, you couldn't possibly fit the people in there at all. But it does have a nice one-person bathroom area, AC, and new finished inside so I was pleasantly surprised once we got into it day of. I was one of the three bridesmaids and we had an hour-long rehearsal the night before on site with their on-site coordinator who was very kind and organized. She was easy to work with and kept things running smoothly. The event started promptly at 6pm the following day and was scheduled to go until 11pm for a water/boat send off. The coordinator kept everything on track and we started right on time and stayed on track most of the night. She also easily made adjustments to the schedule as she saw a lot of guests leaving early so the bouquet toss, cake cutting and boat sendoff were all moved to about an hour earlier than planned but went very smoothly and allowed for my friend's photos of those events to still have people in them before everyone left but the bridesmaids... haha. The food provided for the event was basic but very good. We had warm rolls, grilled chicken, green beans, ceasar salad, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese with tea, water, soda and lemonade. The guests were served buffet-style by the staff and the head of food service was friendly and engaging, after we all ate she walked around and offered to clear plates, made small-talk, and brought drink refills to the wedding party. She was awesome. The wooded and lakefront location in Midlothian, VA is beautiful. As another reviewer noted - it feels like it's secluded and private but it's in the middle of a largely populated area with major neighborhoods nearby with hundreds of homes. It's on a large lake in the Brandermill/Woodlake neighborhoods which means it's close to Richmond and there is plenty in the way of food, hotels, fun, and shopping nearby for guests and attendees who might be coming from far away to attend or bridal party last-minute needed emergency items. I've always loved this area and my cousins grew up here so it was a pleasure to come back and see the lake area again after 20+ years. Overall, my friend's event was beautiful and this is a gorgeous event space. A few things can be done for improvement but I imagine they would be very costly so, for what it is, they're doing a great job and producing beautiful weddings for people with friendly staff members. My friend is very happy with how her wedding turned out and, in the end, that is all that matters.

I will say, that the dance floor felt a little small, but then again it was suitable for the capacity that this venue is able to hold. There are two floors for tables to be set up. My husband and I were seated upstairs, which made it a bit difficult to see the bride and groom, especially when the toasts were being made. But none-the-less, the wedding was beautiful!

The girls loved picking out a dress and getting their nails and makeup done with real makeup. The princesses are fantastic! Great voices, high quality costumes, wigs, and makeup. We had Elsa and Anna and they had such a cute entrance with so you want to build a snowman and let it go. We even had one girl a little nervous about the idea of a fashion show (which were the princesses twirling them, showing them how to curtesy, and doing a pose of a princess of choice), but they were super accommodating with her too (not everyone loves the stage!). As a parent, it was great because the princesses and staff handled serving the food and cleanup. I think most of the girls were a little star struck and acted shy, but all gushed afterwards about it being so much fun. If we had more kids, I think I would have opted for an extra half hour, but 1.5 hours was perfect for the crowd we had! My recommendation would be to make sure to remind your guests to arrive right on time, especially if you're having a bigger party! It's a well oiled machine, but it works best when on time!
