We used to go to this location regularly but lately it has fallen short. The staff is always overwhelmed and running slow. We went a few weeks ago and our service was a disaster. They had 3 people waiting on us because one would get caught up and it STILL took them 10 minutes to bring us something every time we asked for a refill. They were very apologetic, but one or two slow responses fine, an hour long meal turning into over 2 hours because we couldn't get our drinks refilled or anyone to take our order was ridiculous. Anyway, most of the time it isn't like that, but the wait is still at least 20-30 minutes anytime you go for dinner. Then it is SO packed and kind of grimy feeling like they only mop once a week. I'm giving this place 3 stars because my server Celeste was absolutely fantastic!!! She greeted us immediately and was super friendly. We literally didn't have to wait for anything, not our appetizer or drinks, or the check. She is amazing at customer service. The price for this food is a little unreasonable. I really want to like this place but the way they cook their food is not the way I like my Mexican food. The beans come out crusty and it's totally weird that they serve ranch for your chips Probably won't suggest this place but would still come if someone else suggested it. read more

I really only come here for the happy hour and free chips & queso. The happy hour features a self-serve buffet of complimentary chips, queso, ground beef, and salsa. I especially love their green sauce! The food is just so-so when compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area (Lupe Tortillas, El Jarrito, Los Cucos). read more

Been to Chuy's a few times. Went Friday at 6pm, and there was a 50 minute wait for a table already. I guess everyone in Katy was at Chuy's tonight (well it was Friday). We chose to stalk in the bar area and pounce on a booth or table as soon as someone got up. It worked, we had a table within 10 minutes of arrival. They were so busy the service was slow tonight (as far as getting drinks, clear table, and food). Food was good though. I would recommend giving them a try, just not at 6pm on a Friday night. read more

We went to Chuys last night for dinner and were disappointed with the meals my wife ordered the fish tacos and could not find any fish in the tacos. I had the taco carbon; the first one I ate was wonderful - the second had only 2 pieces of meat in it. I believe all the meat was disproportionately placed in the 1st taco. We stopped here for lunch on Black Friday 2013 while driving to Austin. WE have eaten here twice before, and each time it has been very good. I am not a huge fan of their salsa ( it is actually more pico de gallo than a salsa..) but it does the trick. Our chips came out with only the salsa, and halfway through the basket the waiter dropped off the creamy jalapeno almost as an afterthought. The decor is bright, and I am a huge fan of the grape chandeliers in the back room...I REALLY want a couple of them for my outdoor kitchen! I had the Chuychanga...great flavor. I ordered the chile rice instead of the usual rice that comes with the meal, but for some reason I can not make myself eat rice with Mexican style meals. The refried beans were nothing special but were good. The thing about Chuy's is that you can walk in, be seated, order, and complete your meal in a very short span of time. They are lightning fast, and the food is never cold. It's a good value for the price! read more

I meet my friends here every Tuesday for happy hour. We walk in, grab a booth, and the waitress doesn't even have to ask what we want to drink. She remembers our order and we have drinks in 2 minutes or less. She always brings us fresh tortillas and the 3 way frozen margarita is amazing! read more

We've been to this location 4 or 5 times but only for to go orders. There's one lady I've seen all but one time & she's AWESOME!! The other time the to go girl was also great, the bar tender's, however, who ignore the fact that you standing over at the to go area suck. They usually wait until I've already grabbed someone to let them know I'm waiting for to go, so whatever. The food has been consistent but the first time my daughter found a hair in her mac n cheese, which didn't look all that great anyway. They did refund that portion of my check, but ew, she doesn't want to eat there anymore. We usually get her something from taco bell when we eat here. I will be back! read more

I went here for lunch a few weeks ago after finally seeing an opportunity to park in the vicinity! It's been very busy since opening 6 weeks ago. Well, we were not disappointed. My sister-in-law, over from the Netherlands, actually liked it best of all the restaurants we took her to in Houston and that was around 9 or 10! They had smaller options on the menu for lunch, made a perfect enormous beef & bean burrito for my 16 year old boy, who took half home and ate it for dinner and the Chicken Chalupa was excellent. Even my son's kid's meal chicken tenders were excellent and very different from the usual crap nugget fare you get from most other Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants. The iced tea was also fantastic and the little patio was definitely a much better choice of seating than the crowded and ice-cold indoor area, plus the music was 'lost pop', songs I had never heard before but were pretty good. It looked very festive in there though, so we will go back and bring jackets. The salsa was super, went through 2 baskets of chips and all the salsa, a rarity for us. I got the worst case of food poisoning ever from eating here! I had to miss work because it was so bad and I ended up at the doctors office. The manager did refund our money and sent us free food vouchers but there is no way I will ever go back! Their Human Resources office was supposed to call me but ever did. The food and drinks were good. They have pretty good happy hours prices until 7. It is very affordable for Tex-mex. The dips were tasty also. But our waitress was not great, very slow, took forever to come back, and never refilled anything. For a table of 9 she brought 2 bowls of chips and never refilled them... Really? When we were finished eating she just put our check in the middle of the table of 9 women and didn't even ask if we wanted it split. Chuy's really has a really FUN and lively atmosphere along with super good food. It's great for families, chill dates, and catching up with friends. The servers are usually young (college age) and provide good customer service. They all wear Chuy's merchandise, which you can buy at the front door too. The shirts are slap stick punny and very cute :) Down to the food: The salsa is (usually) extremely fresh and refreshing. ALWAYS ask for the Creamy Jalepeño Dip when they bring out your free basket of tortilla chips (they also give free refills on chip). The salsa/creamy jalepeño with the chips are nothing short of perfection. Every time I go, I always order the combo fajitas with no beans and extra rice. The meat is cooked well and still juicy. The tortillas are nice and warm when brought to the table. Overall just a really great meal and worth every buck. read more

I love the atmosphere, happy hour self service is messy but nice to have, the food, the drinks and the to-go service. We order here at least once a month and eat in at least once every two months and love it every time! For parties I get the jalapeño ranch sauce to go in 32 ounces and it's always gone first. Me and my three friends received horrible customer service from a waiter called Joseph K and the manager of the establishment. We didnt receive our order until a whole hour later, we asked for napkins and the table next to us received it before us. We ordered a margarita and we received at the end of the meal. This use to be a favorite restaurant of mine not anymore. I wouldnt recommend this place to my own dog. read more

I came for a later dinner after a not so good experience at another eatery. I wanted fajitas and this place was pretty darned good. I was seated immediately due to the hour. The server was right there for me, took my order, and got me the correct beverage (that was an issue at the other place). My fajitas were out before I could scarf down too many chips. It was hot, good, and filling. The server was attentive and very friendly. Just one warning :) though: the tres leches dessert is meant to be shared. I took a lot of it home. On the way out, I made sure to compliment the server to the hostess, on top of the respectable tip. I will be back. read more

I hate when I see people give 1-2 star reviews over one bad experience. If you go to a place where the food is excellent and have one or even two bad service experiences, you talk to management, you don't cry on the Internet and potentially cause harm to the business. I ate here for the first time two days ago and the food was amazing. AMAZING. The service was also very good. However I called the next day to put a shirt on hold that was on the clearance rack which the man said he would so buy when I went to pick it up, no one could find it. The manager took my name and number and tracked down the same style shirt which is a discontinued item at another location. He is driving out there to pick it up for me tomorrow. Good spot, especially if you can sit outside. They have it decorated densely enough that it feels like a little vacation spot rather than a patio in a parking lot right next to the freeway! Food is good not super memorable but good. Chuy's is more about the fun atmosphere. Great spot to come with the family or friends and just try to not ruin your appetite for dinner with the fresh chips and salsa.. And queso.. and that white jalapeño dipping sauce! Maybe it's the delicious creamy jalapeno sauce or the plentiful green chile menu items, but the combination of good qualities makes Chuy's the first place I'll suggest when meeting friends for dinner. I like the fun decor, the food, and the great patio for outdoor seating. They have daily specials that offer something a little different. Today I had the stuffed avocado for lunch - it was amazing.
