I recently visited Chowking in Vallejo ordered the Lauriat. Overall, the meal was good and flavorful, and I usually enjoy their food. However, the drumstick chicken I received was undercooked and still had blood inside, which was really disappointing and concerning. Because of that experience, I lost my appetite and couldn't finish my meal. Food safety is really important, so I hope they improve on this. I came in on a Friday afternoon specifically to purchase some siopao (asado), taho and black jelly drink, but saw they offer popcorn chicken (spicy) now, so I decided to try it out too. Prices of food is starting to get expensive and portions are shrinking. There wasn't many people eating here around lunchtime, so it could be due to the prices and small portion size. I was the most disappointed by the popcorn chicken as it was only 9 pieces (McD sized chicken nuggets) of chicken which came in a big container (noodle soup/rice bowl container) which made it look like very small portions. I do like their food, but I minimize eating at a Chow King now due to price and portion size. Since we were in the neighborhood, we dropped by Chowking for a couple of baos and a drink. The restaurant was fairly busy when we walked, there was boisterous group of customers in one corner of the room plus a few more customers here and there. We placed our order at the counter: 3 Asado-flavored steamed bao buns and black jelly drink. The young lady at the register was very efficient and courteous; she processed our orders quickly and we were on our way. The black jelly drink hit the spot; it was cool and refreshing. The steamed buns were very tasty; the dough was super airy and pork filling was absolutely delicious. I regret not purchasing more to take home; oh well, maybe next time. To start off, I'm only reviewing their taho dessert offering and nothing else. The reason is, I hardly ever eat fast food. However, this place serves taho, a quintessentially Filipino dessert, a uniquely delicious sweet treat from the Philippines made with silken tofu and chewy tapioca pearls mixed with a rich brown sugar syrup. It's a classic. I don't know too many places where it's served, but it's a standard item on the menu and I go there just for the taho. I didn't grow up in the Philippines, but in the five years of childhood living there, it's one of the few things I remember from the motherland, especially visual of the taho man balancing a bar on his shoulder with two large containers of the ingredients while barking in the streets. I suppose it isn't just the treat I remember fondly and crave, but also of a warm cultural reminiscence. Very sad (and surprised) to read the negative reviews about their fried chicken. I personally think they have the best chicken i town because it is always crispy on the outside & juicy on the inside. (I've never had a dry birdie yet.). Plus they aren't as salty as the rest of the chicken joints in town. This is Chinese-Filipino fast food. For example Panda Express is Chinese-American fast food. So set your expectations accordingly. As others have stated this isn't a great location... We ordered the 6 piece steamed baos, lychee tea, and the feast #1. The chicken was some of the crispiest I've ever had! (Fun fact. Chowking is owned by Jollibee!) The total which fed four people was around $50. So it's affordable. The baos had good flavor. The baos come with a sauce packet. They also sell them frozen. The lychee tea was sweet. It's too bad they didn't have any ice for the drinks that night. It also took about 30 minutes to get our food. To be fair they did tell us it would be about 20 minutes for the chicken. Chowking is quite popular. We saw several groups come in around 8pm for dinner. I just wish they were a little faster for fast food standards and had ice when it was a warm night. read more

The soup broth was delicious, not overly salty. Noodles were cooked well but we both could've ate more noodles in the soup. Hubby liked his beef mami. For me --- where's the chicken?!!!! I was at your restaurant today. The staff was very respectful and nice. I am writing this review so that the owners of this establishment will be aware about your fried chicken. I tried the chicken once I got home and noticed there was a chemical flavor to the chicken. It wasn't the seasoning but it tasted like either the oil used to fry it or some type of leak that got into the chicken or it could also possibly the batter. 11/04/24- With rising costs of food, I do believe that the quality should not be compromised. Went here and got pancit canton, siopao, black jelly and beef brocolli bowl. First off, the bowl is not even in a bowl. The beef brocolli has only one piece of brocolli and the rest were meat. Yes, they do advertised "more meat", but it's called brocolli beef, so where's the brocolli. The black jelly has a slight bitterness to it. It shouldn't be. Paid 24.83 for some mediocre food. What one would expect from asian-fusion fast-food. I liked their noodles, and was glad they didn't have onions. Their bao was pretty meh, and overall the quality was not great. I very much did not like their fried-chicken, it was too greasy and crunchy without substance or flavor. I will in the future just go to Jolibees down the road. I will say, service was nice, and they were very helpful. So, I greatly appreciated the staff...it's just that the food was not very good. If you're in a rush, please go ahead, but there are lots of other places for much better quality and the same exact price. I have been going here for many years and unfortunately, it appears the quality of food and service has gone down. Prices have gone up but portions have gone down. The last time I had gone here a month ago I ordered the beef wonton soup, to which there was only soup and barely any noodles. More recently I had ordered longanisa bangus and the beef wonton soup again. If you look at the pictures, one of them is missing a lot of toppings and it was only when I spoke to the supervisor about my order she was kind enough to give me another order of the beef wonton soup with all the toppings it should have as shown in the photo (shoutout to her she's very kind). As shown in the pictures below, they appear to be skimping on portions for the soup and one of the pieces of longanisa was overly burnt (shown in photo). I am not sure if some workers just don't care and are purposely skimping on toppings or if they are not trained to know what an order looks like which should be simple right?
