My boyfriend was bragging about the burgers here. So, we decided to stop by. And OMG I'm glad we did . We bother the double cheeseburger and fries. Burger had the perfect amount of mayo, lettuce and tomatoes. The meat was delicious. Burger was sooooo tasty. OMG 1000% better and in & out. Fries were so good and fresh I can't wait to come back. And is very reasonable price read more

Dang, after 16 years, I hate to do this. I'm updating my review of Bud's with a lower rating because it's just not the same. I am Vallejo through and through and Bud's has always been one of those places I could count on. But the flavor has changed. I ate my fries and noticed a sweet undertone to them. The bun crumbled and tasted stale and the meat was just bland. After all these years and all my Yelp reviews, this one is probably the hardest to update because I really do love this place and what it has always meant to me. But if I were reading recent reviews, I'd want to know if things had changed. read more

Find something to do and do it well. That's Bud's in a nutshell. They do hamburgers and fries. The room is smoky and the food is served fresh and hot! It might be a little wait during busy times because each order is freshly cooked, but it's worth it! The meat has a fresh taste. The dining area is a little small but for me, it just adds to the quaintness of this old time burger joint. read more

Customer Service-I called three times to place a takeout order. The first two times, I was put on hold and then disconnected before anyone took my order. By the third call, I had parked in front of the restaurant because I wanted to see what was happening. Fortunately, a different employee's voice answered the phone and was very polite, professional, and took my order without any issues. Other than that the service was amazing. Friendly people. Ambiance-Is laid back small hole in the wall type of vibe. Customers are chill. Had a good conversation with some Young OG's and OG's about who better Kobe or LeBron. Of course I picked Kobe and the Young G's picked LeBron. Food-The burgers use to are still fire. The cheese burger fries and soda is still my favorite. $12.20 out the door. Freshly grounded homemade beef patties at that. They no longer salt your fries. You have to do that yourself with the salt packets that's near the left side of the cashier. I'd suggest just get the burgers. Fries are not really worth it and this coming from a man who love a good French fry. But the meal combo is definitely consumer friendly considering. Though This place not the same as it once was. I remember I use to love this place when they were on Springs Road. It's still good but you can tell the Cooks or upper management have changed things. Overall it's a good place for a burger. read more

As always, the best burger in town! The fries are freshly cut. Very reasonably priced with fast service!

The burgers were so good! Everything tasted super fresh, the service was great, and nothing was greasy. Definitely one of those spots you'll want to come back to. The ambiance is calm and laid-back, though it can get pretty busy at times. read more

Sometimes I've had meh dry burgers and sometimes they have been perfectly juicy. If you get one of their burgers and it's cooked fresh, it is truly a delicious and juicy burger. Problem is that they don't always cook to order. I know this because I have a mouth and tastebuds. Their fresh cut fries are simply some of the best fries around. If you don't like them, then you just don't like freshly cut fries. You like freezer fries thrown in hot oil. Bud's fries will always save the day. read more

I haven't been here in decades so my son and I were working in Vallejo and met up for lunch. We both ordered the hamburger combo. The burger was good enough, not outstanding in any particular way. I did not like how the fries tasted. They tasted like oil, old oil. Service was great. I would come again and give it another try, minus the fries. read more

Excellent food. It's a real good down home burger spot. Their french fries are really good. I think they stand out. I love it that they have 10 or more baskets staged for frying because they're fries are such a popular item. The burgers are cooked well the condiments are generous and the patties have a really good flavor and texture. The price is good for their combos. They have tons of different options available. read more

Bud's Burgers - No talking, just enjoying our food ! - Burgers Near Me - Vallejo, California

Buds is a Vallejo institution. Good quality hamburger. Excellent hot french fries at an affordable price.

I'll start by saying that I would definitely come back here. Priced fairly well, big portions, and overall good classic old fashion food. Can't complain. The burger was juicy, the bun held everything together and the lettuce, tomato and raw onion made it fresh and crunchy. As much I loved it, there wasn't anything special other than the fact they keep it simple but do it right. I did enjoy how I was able to spend $15 dollars for a triple cheeseburger, fries and drink. My same meal at similar places would easily be over $20. As far as toppings go, it's your standard picnic toppings, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onions, bacon. It's hard to say if adding more toppings or a secret sauce would make this place better because what makes it good is how simple it is. Normally, I would eat my burger with whatever secret sauce the restaurant has. But here I felt like I didn't need it. Would it make the burger taste better? Absolutely. But I don't think it needs it. The fries, it's pretty cool seeing the basket of fries hanging on the wall. I think they double fry the fries, which gives it a really good crunch but soft and smooth inside. The fries could've used a little more salt, but that is just me. I would come back for the fries. Personally, I'm a fan. 10/10 would come back again. read more

I hadn't been to Bud's in years! So I decided to stop by with my husband. He had never eaten here before being that he's from the east coast so I was excited to introduce him to a new spot in the Bay Area. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries. When I bit into it, it lacked the flavor that I was accustomed to years ago. It didn't taste the same. I remember going to Bud's as a kid in the 90's with my family and the burgers were always so good! They were even great back in the early 2000's (2001). But when I visited the other day it has obviously changed- they are definitely not as good. Hopefully one day the quality will be back, but it's definitely not worth the drive. read more

Greasy, bland and the place is dirty. Buds burgers haven't been good since they were on springs rd

Between my first review and this one, there could be 2-3 star review updates. I have had very meh burgers here that did not taste like they were cooked to order. Last week, I went in the morning and the burger I got was freshly grilled, JUICY, and all around delicious. If they were cooked fresh like this all of the time, I'd be there a lot! I did not experience the whole french fry potato change debacle, so when I went they were still the best with fresh potato flavor and deliciously crispy. read more

Bumping my original score down to 3, sad but true. I ordered a double bacon cheese burger and large fries. It was all overwhelming dry, don't know why.... I had all the veggies and sauce on the burger. The cheese wasn't melted. The fries weren't hot and lacked salt. Sorry, but not really. I was thinking of giving them three stars but I was completely let down. There are better burgers in town. read more

Bud's Burgers - Front counter. What can I get you type service. Awesome! - Burgers Near Me - Vallejo, California

Really casual ambiance Walk in and order at the counter Service is fine Local spot with really good tasting burgers Ordered a bacon cheeseburger - can't go wrong! Regular fries come in a white paper cup - definitely enough for one person - since these fries are thicker I'd say it's probably the same amount of potato as a McDonald's medium size fry. Something to note* The burger comes with mayo raw onion Lettuce Tomato I've never been disappointed when I've come here! Will definitely be back. read more

The meal was very cheap. The double giant burger with cheese meal comes with a fries and large drink for just $13.60. It's a very big meal for the price. The food was okay for me as it lacked flavor. The fries had no salt and tasted like old oil. The burger was a little plain and could use some more sauce. The service was very fast. I would definitely come back and try the burgers with my own sauces, but I would skip on the fries. read more

One of my fav local spots to get a good old fashioned cheeseburger, a styrofoam cup full of crispy, golden, seasoned fries (I think it's because of years and years of oil being infused with seasonings hahaha), and a refillable cup of soda from a soda fountain dispenser. A no frills type of place, get in and get out. *Don't expect the best of customer service or even a smile! You've been forewarned. *The people at the front seem to not like requests for extras such as mayonnaise. You might be charged 10 cents per packet after 5 free ones. I wonder if it's like this for ketchup (?). read more

So my son recently moved to Vallejo so we decided to give Bud's burgers a try. Was rather disappointed that it would be a little bit better. Not sure how so many people say this place is so good. Very surprising. Bought the bacon cheeseburger combination, I thought the fries fell flat. They were not very good limp not very well cooked or prepared no salt. Hamburger, extremely mediocre on a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give it a 3. Not much flavor. When my hamburger first came out, there was no bacon on it. I had to bring it back up there, which I thought was odd . Truthfully, there's a lot better hamburgers out there. My son felt the same way neither of us really ate the fries. We threw them away. I will not be returning. read more

It's been so long since I've gotten a burger from the infamous Bud's Burgers! I was shocked by the long line that had people waiting outside around 11-12pm. The inside is the same and old-timey. I waited around 10-15 minutes for two giant cheeseburgers and family size fries. I remember being so addicted to the burgers here, but I honestly wasn't a fan of it. The price has also gone up and, not that it's crazy expensive, but comparing the quality and price to in-n-out.. I'd rather get in-n-out. I will say, the fries were fresh and they are generous with the family size. The burgers also tasted fresh, but I noticed their burger buns were off. I'm not sure if they changed it, but it wasn't the best. It was nice coming back here after not coming here for awhile, but I'm gonna have to pass. read more

Bud's was recommended from a friend who ranked it as one of his favorite spots in Vallejo. A Vallejoian who knows his food in these streets. LOL. A nostalgic experience that reminded me of all those mom-and-pop diners I once knew and are no longer standing amongst us. A great personal feeling! Fries in a cup, check. A burger with no frills, check. Done deal! Although it is aged with plenty of history behind it, their cooking area could be kept much cleaner. I love Bud's as well, you can pick the doneness of your burger, customize it to your liking and make it great! My go to is a double burger with cheese, extra mayo, raw and grilled onions, no mustard and add pickles! This is the type of burger that you can't set down once you start. It is messy and wonderful! It's been a LONG minute since the last time I've patroned Bud's Giant Burgers in Vallejo, CA. Coming back from the Haulers Expo in Santa Rosa, CA, we wanted something different but didn't know what, until Hubby mentioned Bud's Giant Burgers. It was over after that. We made our way to the V and walked in. Talk about a trip down memory lane, I haven't been here in decades, y'all and IT WAS STILL THE SAME .. Pepsi fountain drinks and the smell of good ole' beef cooking away with mountains of french fries. It wasn't busy at all when we order. We opted to sit in and eat at the table and it wasn't long before we were called and got down to the nitty gritty. I had a bacon cheeseburger and shared large fries with Hubs. He had a Giant Cheeseburger. Look - we didn't talk at all, matter of fact we were both making weird noises with our mouths every time we popped in a french fry or took a bite of our burger. Man, still the same decades later. All I'm saying is - If it ain't broke don't fix it. Prime example is Bud's Giant Burgers. Bud's Burgers, a Vallejo staple! This spot is truly a no frills burger joint with affordable prices. Super simple but tasty. I stopped by on Friday afternoon for a late lunch. There is about 5 or 6 tables to dine in but definitely more of a grab and go situation. Service was also straight to the point and quick. I was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes. I ordered a giant cheese burger, smalls fries and a drank for a total of $12.06. Super filling meal, I couldn't even finish the fries. You really can't beat these prices! Fries come with no salt, which I'm not the biggest fan of. I feel like the salt doesn't stick when I put it on after the fact. The fries themselves were fresh and a great crisp. The burger was juicy, a lil oily but great quality. Reminds me of a backyard bbq, homemade burger. A classic spot and a bang for your buck! Worth stopping by. read more
