Vodka cocktail on happy hour is pretty refreshing, on the sweet side

The food is so delicious and happy hour rocks. Happy hour is in the bar area and on the patio. Good food and drink options. We loved the cauliflower and the ricotta appetizers.

We went for Mother's Day Brunch, and I expected the restaurant to be busy but it was not that busy. Despite that, our service was the main reason I am giving this restaurant 3 stars. It took a long time for us to be able to order, and the server was not warm or friendly. We ordered our mains (and there are not many options in the first place), and dishes were brought out one at a time and not very close in time. Between the first person's food and last person's food arriving, almost 10 minutes passed which really affected the pace and ability to enjoy the meal. The food itself was tasty and fresh, but overall felt like the experience was affected by the service.

I visited on a Saturday afternoon. It was really busy, but we were able to snag a seat at the bar. Although busy, service was speedy. We ordered oysters for our appetizer, and I had the salmon dish for my entree. I am an oyster fan through-and-through! I will get them if I see them on a menu. Chloe's oysters were fried and the presentation was pretty. See pic. The batter on the oysters had just the right crispy effect. They were still juicy and not fried too hard. A bed a slaw beneath the oyster added to the crunch effect. The seasoning was perfect -- would definitely get again. The salmon was tasty too! Snap peas and potatoes were included with the dish. I would get this again too! Visit for yourself. Cheers!

Update! Still love Chloe. Stopped by for dinner and had a great time. It's still beautiful space and great for dinner or just for drinks at the bar. Service was great as usual. Here is a breakdown on what we had and my thoughts: The grilled house bread wasn't my favorite but mostly because it wasn't what I initially expected but it was fine. We traded it in for the spiced lamb hummus and that was the sweet spot for me. I will definitely be back for more of that. It was great for dinner and would also be great on its own with a drink at the bar. We also had the autumn potato gnocchi which was very pleasant and light with plenty of flavor. For our mains we had the spice roasted chicken which was solid overall. It was fairly tender with pretty good flavor and the sticky rice that came with it added a nice sweet note that I really enjoyed. We also had the flat iron minute steak with egg noodles and Thai basil. The steak was a bit chewy but the combination of flavors made the dish really enjoyable overall. To top it all off i had the warm chocolate hazelnut cake and it was amazing. You can't go wrong with warm cake and ice cream. I'll definitely be back for that. My two standouts this time around were the spiced lamb hummus and the warm chocolate hazelnut cake. Chloe does it again! I will be back!

This restaurant is just around the corner of the hotel I'm staying at. A friend and I came after work for dinner and really enjoyed the food. Had their special of the day which was a hamachi kama. I've had this dish many many times at a Japanese restaurant. This was one of my all time favorite versions. It was a nice big portion and the miso glaze was really well balanced. Cooked perfectly. Also had gnocchi and chicken which were really good. Finished off with the chocolate cake. Fantastic.

Everything I had at Chloe was to die for! The falafel was crispy and flavorful, the drinks were delicious, the chicken was juicy and good. I truly have zero complaints. We came for brunch, I'd love to come another time for dinner. It's a cool spot with helpful staff and the ambiance is very chic. It never gets too loud but it's also not dead quiet either. I'll 100% be returning!!

Went for HH (offered at bar or patio only) on a weeknight! This is a pretty solid option in the area for apps and drinks. The ricotta was truly the star of the show! I also really enjoyed the falafel. To drink, the pistachio espresso martini was my personal fave. Overall, a cute spot with nice service!

We had high hopes for Chloe, but it was mediocre and expensive. Also, the service was pretty slow at the end of the meal. We waited 10-15 minutes for the bill, and it took another 10 minutes for our server to put the charge on the card. CARAMELIZED CAULIFLOWER - 16 This is what they're popular for, but the cauliflower we got was pretty soggy. We expected it to be crispy since it's caramelized, but we didn't get any of that sweetness we were expecting. It was very tahini-forward. Overall, it wasn't bad, but not what we were expecting and the texture was off. SPICED LAMB HUMMUS - 21 This was very good and the highlight of our meal. The ground lamb was flavorful and not too gamey, and the hummus was creamy and smooth. The buttered almonds added a nice crunchy texture, and the Beiruti hot sauce gave a lightly spicy kick. The snowshoe naan? Extremely soft and fluffy. We enjoyed this and would recommend it. SPICE ROASTED CHICKEN - 35 People on Yelp wrote about how the chicken was good, and the table next to us got it and it looked good, so we did too. We cut the chicken in half, and I took the white meat part and my friend took the dark meat portion. The white meat? Extremely dry and hard to cut into. The toasted chili-lime dipping sauce was weirdly sweet, so I didn't eat much of it. We enjoyed the broccolini, which was a bit sweet but had a nice savory sauce. The sticky rice was fine, nothing amazing. I will say, the chicken skin was thin, crispy, and delicious. Overall, this was a let down. I think we both prefer any Peruvian chicken joint for 1/3 of the price and chicken that's juicier and tastier. Sadly, I don't think we'll be returning after this experience.

You can't go wrong with a rich bolognese pasta. The service here is always pleasant and attentive. The location is perfect for strolls after your meal.

    Summer Restaurant Week Menu 2025
    Lisa S.

We dined for the first time at Chloe for the Summer Restaurant week. We picked to sit outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and fresh air. Overall the outside area was nice and quiet - it was fairly early brunch on a Sunday, so that was lovely. The part that made us question our decision to sit outside were the amount of mosquitoes. Lots of bites and after a few minutes we saw others experiencing the same. The hostess brought out bug spray and several of us used it. So just something to keep in mind if you're dining outside. Service was very relaxed. We weren't in a rush, so it was okay, but it was fairly slow to get food. Perhaps that was due to restaurant week and being extra busy. The food! It was quite delicious!! The chia pudding was very good! The pastry plate was more than generous that gave a great sampling of items. One of the servers said the banana bread was one of his favorites and it melts in your mouth - we understood when we tried it. Yum! Both entries - Soft Egg Scramble and the Penne with sausage were delicious!! Though the penne said it was spicy in the description, it wasn't overly spicy. Had the typical Italian sausage seasoning with just the lightest heat. Really well balanced. Desserts - between the berry and peach shortcake and the chocolate hazelnut cake --- the chocolate hazelnut cake won hands down! The cake was a rich, fudgy cake, topped with a crispy wafer, and ice cream! Great texture and flavor and would absolutely order it again!

Made a reservation for 5pm on a Saturday for summer restaurant week. Was running late and called to let them know; they said it wouldn't be a problem. The restaurant is fairly small but good space. The bar and some high top tables are on one side, and the other side has regular height tables with an open kitchen and lots of light from the streets. They also have patio seating. It's a good area for people watching as they walk by. For RW, I had the lobster & sweet corn ravioli, angus steak and chocolate hazelnut cake. I also had a faux-jito. Everything was absolutely delicious! The ravioli was a surprise of flavor and textures with the combination of lobster and corn, but it was well done although oddly served in a bowl vs a plate (cutting it was awkward). The steak was small but with the tomato Parmesan bread pudding and Swiss chard, I found it to be the perfect amount of food for an entree. I tried each item separately, then enjoyed various pairings (steak + chard, then steak + bread pudding, then chard + bread pudding). I enjoyed the meal so much! Oh, and the pesto sauce around the plate was perfect with the last few bites of bread pudding. The chocolate hazelnut cake was a wonderful ending, with the salted caramel ice cream to balance out the heat/temperature of the cake. Everything was perfection that I won't even take off a star for the mosquitoes that were having a meal of their own with my legs or the server who seemed a tad aloof (shout out to the hostesses who presented me with a can of Off when I asked).

Chloe invited us in one winter night with open arms and a warmth radiating from the kitchen. We were treated with priority and kindness. The menu introduced such a lovely collection of differing cuisines, that all still seemed to build towards a collective meal. We had a lot of fun picking out our favorites, with the caramelized cauliflower standing out as an absolute delight of flavor. The spiced lamb hummus was a good side dish to share and the Norwegian salmon brought us home.

    Crispy Cauliflower - amazing!

I chose Ambar for my group, and I'm very pleased with our selection. Food Most of our group had dietary restrictions. Several of us were gluten free, and one person was both nut and seafood free. Ambar did an excellent job curating a menu that worked for everyone without making anyone feel like an afterthought. We opted for the Chef's Table experience, which included a spread tasting with veggie sticks and a variety of dishes that were clearly labeled and thoughtfully prepared: * Bean hummus - GF / DF / NF * Ajvar - GF / DF / NF * Balkan salad - GF / DF / NF (one prepared without feta cheese) * Baby carrots - GF / DF / NF (one prepared without tofu sauce) * Roasted peppers - GF / DF / NF * Cauliflower - GF / DF / NF * Baked beans - GF / DF / NF * Roasted lamb - GF / DF / NF * Stuffed pork belly "Sarma" - GF / DF / NF * Brussels sprouts - GF / DF / NF (one prepared without yogurt and bacon) * Seafood platter Everything was flavorful, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. The meal was so delicious that I didn't even manage to get photos of everything, which rarely happens for me. Just know we dined very well and left completely satisfied. Service The staff was wonderful from start to finish. From the event team member who served as our account manager, to the chef, to the servers and wait staff, everyone was attentive and accommodating. They handled our dietary needs with care and professionalism and made sure our group felt taken care of throughout the evening. Pricing We paid a set fee that we were able to negotiate, and the final rate wasn't too bad for a group experience like this. Just keep in mind that there is an admin fee, a 20% gratuity, and taxes added on top, so be sure to factor that into your planning if you're booking a group event. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend Ambar for group dining, especially if you have guests with dietary restrictions. They made coordination easy, delivered great food, and created a memorable dining experience for our team.

A very nice touch to add a stem of Rose for the women. I would say that I gave it a lower star rating not because the food was bad. It was actually delicious, but probably the experience itself. The restaurant felt chaotic, and even though all the tables were not completely packed of course there were flowers everywhere people gathering with grandmother's mother's children, etc We were seated in a two people table and all the top past dishes started to pile up very quickly. Instead of monitoring, the progress of the finished dishes and removing those dishes due to space constraint, the dishes came from the kitchen, almost on top of one another, and at one point I had to hold a dish in my hand in order to make space to put a dish on top of another flatbread pan/dish, making things super chaotic. Also dishes had to be put on top of the menu because in order to order additional food, you need to leave at least one copy of the menu at the table. Overall, again the flavors and taste were good, though I might have had similar dishes from other places, and my partner commented that some of it is actually very close to the Capital One landing at DCA. I would just say that it was more due to the chaos and just the way that all the dishes piled up on top of us we felt like we were we had to eat super quickly so that we could stack dishes ourselves and create room at the table. Also, when serving the dishes were not kept level and basically was slide to the side of the dish, making presentation off

I'll say I think bottomless brunches are best enjoyed by a group of 3 minimum, ideally 4-6. For two of us, it was hard to sample as much as we'd like, especially if we want to try different things. We had 75 minutes before a show across the street at the…read moreWarner Theatre, and we had three criteria: nothing too loud and crowded, service had to be swift and attentive, and we wanted a full bar to enjoy a cocktail before the show. The Henri checked off these criteria, and then some! One friend got there early and started at the bar. When we arrived 15 minutes later, we were seated in the dining room room right away. This was about 5:45 PM on a Wednesday night. The dining room room was maybe half full, and we could easily have a conversation without straining to hear each other. When one of us was scooting in our chair toward the table, we noticed soundproofing pads mounted under the tables...so that might account for the ability to hear one another. (Smart design!) I had The Henri Margarita, which was a beet infused casa del sol tequila with beet agave. OMG it was fantastic! My two friends tried mine and ordered one for themselves. Refreshing and delightful. They brought a small bread basket while we waited for entrees, and the sliced bread tasted homemade with a crisp crust and soft interior. Two of us had the Rockfish Imperial: rockfish with a seared crust, topped with lump crab meat, seasonal vegetables and potatoes, with a beet buerre blanc sauce. (Wouldn't that technically be a buerre rouge, then?) It was very well prepared, the seared crust excellent and well seasoned, fish cooked to perfection, and the caulilini (part of the vege medley) was a new vegetable that I've never had before and enjoyed! Not a crumb left on the plate when I was done. Our other friend had the classic Orange Glazed Duck Breast that came with fingerling potatoes and sunchokes. He enjoyed his very much as well. For dessert (and I'm sorry I didn't get the actual name of it) we shared a chocolate mousse cake with banana gelato. The cake was good, the gelato was delicious and refreshing, and the pairing was outstanding. The service was very attentive, and we didn't need to flag anyone down for anything. We even forgot to warn ahead that we had a show to go to! They were able to split the check in thirds, and we were able to check out with plenty of time to head across the street to the theater. I'm still thinking about that beet margarita, five days later! This will definitely be my go-to spot for a deliciously prepared meal and the ability to have audible conversation with friends before any shows at the Warner or National.

I didn't have much time so ordered an espresso martini and a crab roll. I must say, bartender Stiven served up one of the best I've had in this city! Stiven was also just absolutely delightful to talk to. The crab rolls were also a great snack. They were hot and crunchy, and perfect for my appetite needs. I liked them without the dipping sauce, but try it and see if you like it. I would like to go back and try dinner. In looking at their menu, they accommodate may allergies and eating preferences, which is always a bonus. I will note this restaurant is a little on the pricier side, but very on par with restaurants in this area. They also have a great happy hour in looking at their website. I'm happy to now have a good pre theater spot!

They were moderately busy and let us know to head up the stairs. They escorted us to our table. My husband ordered the French Riviera cocktail which was really good. For our appetizers - we started with the Rabbit Sausage and the Tuna Tartare - both were delicious - definitely recommend. The Tuna Tartare was cut into pretty large cubes though - I do wish it was slightly smaller but the flavor was really good. Both my husband and my friends got the Short Rib Ravioli and my friend also ordered the Baby Spinach Salad. I really enjoyed the Short Rib Ravioli and my friend said she also enjoyed the Baby Spinach Salad. Our ravioli was delicious but my friend did indicate this his was slightly undercooked and the ravioli was a little tough. I ordered the Seafood Cioppino. While I did expect bread to use for the Saffron Broth, I ordered it on the side for an upcharge. I wish it was a little more toasted and warm. The Seafood Cioppino itself was pretty good but not sure if I would order again as it wasn't very filling by itself. I also ordered a side of the Spinach & Oyster Mushrooms in Garlic Butter. It didn't have too much of a garlic flavor and just tasted like sauteed Spinach and Mushrooms. Overall, things were good and as it got busier, service did have some lags. I liked the warm ambience of the restaurant and would consider coming back trying some of the other items on the menu.

Excellent food, both in taste and visual presentation (bravo chef, and thank you for the meet & greet). Excellent service, thank you Shawna for being so kind, explaining the menu, and making us feel warm and special. Bread/water guy (sorry didn't catch your name) was also always on it refilling water, and offering bread without being asked. Alex, also gets a shout out for the service and attention! All the variety of breads and butter (esp the ramp/onion butter) were delicious, chicken/truffle tortellini app, crab salad, lamb entree, dover sole entree, pear/yuzu dessert, strawberry cake were my favorites. Thank you also for the birthday treat :) we will be back again!

Hard to find an elegant restaurant like this anymore where the food and ambiance are superb. Being a bit "old-school" about fancy restaurants, I like getting dressed up and going to a place that feels special. This is the place. Not only is the food delicious, but expertly presented. An amazing bread basket that I had to refrain from eating too much as I knew my dinner would be rich and filling. Also, the cocktails are superb. Even though many restaurants now serve specialty cocktails, they don't always live up to expectations. Here at Bas Rouge they are mixed beautifully. One should be aware that, although I believe you can order al a carte, it's mainly a three/four or seven course menu. NOTE: I was extremely dismayed to see that they had foie gras on the menu. Especially seeing that this restaurant is named after I believe the owner's breed of dog that he loves, I believe foie gras, as many people do, is animal cruelty to produce. They also serve veal that again, is usually from animals confined to crates that stunt their growth. Sorry for the bummer ending, just stating what I believe is factual.

She gave us some menus, some glasses of water, and also told us some things about the menu. We saw that they had a bottomless brunch option that allowed us to get bottomless mimosas or margaritas until 4 PM. We both decide to go with margaritas. For an appetizer, we ordered the PICKLING + MD BAY SEASONED WINGS , which were absolutely amazing! The hot honey really brought out so much flavor in the wings. For entrées, my wife ordered the super lump crab cake omelette, and I ordered the hanger steak and eggs. My wife's omelette was full of crab and was amazing! My steak was seasoned very well and was flavorful! Both of our entrees came with circle hash browns similar to Chick Fil A's which are my favorite! The food was absolutely delicious! The bartender made sure we got our money's worth and constantly refilled our margaritas whenever they got low. We ended up having about 6 margaritas each. This was an amazing brunch deal. The food was delicious and the customer service was excellent. We will definitely be back!

We went for brunch and there was a game scheduled at 4pm, so just be mindful...leaving was a whole situation. Traffic and crowds were not playing. Service started off strong, but slowly went downhill the longer we stayed. Orders were forgotten, the wait for food was way too long, and when it finally came out, it was wrong. My steak was cooked incorrectly and my eggs weren't even made the way I asked. At that point, I was over it and ready to go. And I have to say this...they allowed a dog inside the restaurant upstairs near the hostess stand while seating guests. I'm sorry but no. That completely turned me off. Overall, it has potential because of the location and views, but the service and experience need serious improvement.
