Loved the tapas inspired format of the meal. We ordered the Spiced Cornmeal Crusted Oysters, Caramelized Cauliflower, Norwegian Salmon, Penne Pasta, Wagyu Beef & Kimchi Dumplings, steak and a salad. The little plates were adequate to share, though I did feel that the menu was a little disjointed due to all the different flavors. There was so much going on that I almost could not focus on what I was eating. A palate cleanser may have been needed between each dish! Overall, though, each dish was good though I would say that it was pricey for the portion sizes even if they were "tapas" like dishes. Service was good. Our server was friendly and the waitstaff made sure that our beverages were filled and any completed dishes were removed timely. The restaurant did get fairly busy, but it was not so loud that I could not carry on a decent conversation without yelling. It seems like it would be a hip spot for young professionals to gather given the neighborhood, so I think an expanded happy hour menu might be something to consider. I would not be opposed to giving Chloe a go another time and perhaps try some of the other dishes. read more

This a beautiful little restaurant in Navy Yard in DC. The vibes in here are upscale and trendy, but still casual enough to wear whatever. I love restaurants with open kitchens like this one. Our server was sweet and attentive. This is a tapas restaurant so my husband and I ordered 6 plates to share. We should've done 5 lol. Almost everything was super flavorful and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the chicken liver dish which was actually delicious. I was really bummed though that the 2 dishes I was most excited for, the salmon and the steak, lacked any flavor... and for the steep price you're paying, that really isn't acceptable. The noodles and sauce in the steak dish were very good, but the steak itself was thin, chewy and not at all worth the money. I did LOVE everything else though and loved that they have NA options on the drink menu that were yummy. This night I was looking for good Gnocchi and a chill vibe. It was a cold rainy night in Navy Yard, I just wanted to eat dinner and call it a night. So I walked in around the early part of there dinner service and I was greater by some very friendly hostesses and i think the manager. They walked me over to the bar and the bar tender gave me a menu. He was also super friendly, gave me his recommendations and assured me the gnocchi was worth the trip. - Scallop crudo, this was the bartender's recommendation and I mean wow! Bright, a tinge spicy with that Jalapeño oil and clean. Im super picky about seafood but this was a great way to introduce me to the theme of Chloe's food. - Gnocchi, this was what I was looking for. The Gnocchi itself was light, soft and buttery. I could taste the sage brown butter. Then there was the buts of sweet potato that gave it a slight bite along with the bread crumbs that reminded me of a savory pie crust. This was my favorite part of the meal. It was like a gnocchi pot pie, perfect for a cold, rainy night. - The Manchego cheesecake was so good! Okay maybe this was my favorite too. I mean I love this cheese I would have never imagined it for a cheesecake. It still has the unique taste of the cheese and it is rich. But whoever thought of the lemon-quince sorbet you are a genius. Wars could be ended for this dessert. That tart sour bite into the cheesecake is so well balanced. I was full and honestly did not care. The crisp, pistachios and dried apricot bring some nice crunchy, nutty and sweet notes. Overall i felt welcomed, satisfied and told all my friends they have to go! We ordered: Winter Burrata Salad 9/10 - super fresh veggies, colorful, bright, and delightfully made salad Caramelized Cauliflower 10/10 - delicious tahini sauce Hummus 9/10 - comes with fluffy naan ! Service was really amazing and the location was great. My only concern was I went to use their restroom and the handle was very oily and stained my clothes. Spice Roasted Chicken // Our least favorite dish. It was hard to cut and get pieces off, and it was pretty dry. Potato Gnocchi // The best dish by far. The gnocchi was perfectly cooked, with a delightful texture, and we practically licked the bowl clean. Stopped in on a whim and ended up having one of the best ribeyes I've had in a while. It was juicy, tender, and had a buttery richness that didn't need much sauce at all. The char on the crust was beautiful and added a nice contrast to the tender center. I also loved the roasted veggies on the side. I had the cauliflower and the shrimp Thai green curry (special that day). Ive had the cauliflower before during their happy hour and it was still just as delicious as I remembered. The curry was good, but I did ask for peppers on the side because I was told by Derek that it was a mild spice. When I think of curry, I think of spice so the peppers really helped expand upon the flavor. The flavor was mostly in the sauce so the shrimp could have used a touch of seasoning and I would have liked more sauce, but overall it was good. I also had a parche cocktail, which was really good. Derek was absolutely an amazing server. He answered all my questions and was very attentive. Water was provided periodically, and I was checked on a reasonable amount of times while eating. The space near the window by the bar are pretty tight, but it's still not too bad. Next time, I'll try to get there early enough to get a space at the bar or make a reservation. read more

I was really excited to try Chloe, we found it sort of randomly on Yelp when looking for brunch in the area. The ambiance is trendy yet, peaceful, although it was a but crowded, it was not too loud. Our server recommend we do family style, which makes sense given the sharable small plates. We tried the cauliflower; churros with chocolate dip; the potatoes; fried chicken; garlic and garlic noodles. The star of the show was the potatoes-- very large fingerling potatoes, the sauce underneath was absolutely delicious, a creamy aioli. The Cauliflower was also really good! The Churros were just a tad bit too hard, like they were over fried or they sat out too long. The chicken was fried in a strange batter that lacked flavor and was pretty hard and not adhered to the chicken, this was a little disappointing as it was the most expensive of the tapas. read more

We ordered a variety of dishes but our favorites were the crispy whole fish, the cauliflower and the Norwegian salmon. The fish came with a green sauce that complimented it. The cauliflower was delicious and the salmon was good but could use a bit more flavor. The service was great. No long wait times on a Sunday and we were able to eat outside. We enjoyed our visit to Chloe. Our reservation was at 6:30 and we were seated right away. The restaurant was small, but it did not feel crowded and was not too loud even though there was not an empty table. We asked if we could move to the chef's counter when we saw 2 empty stools and the hostess made it happen. We enjoyed watching the chef and his team working together to prep, prepare and plate the various dishes. We started with the Fresh Ricotta, fresh strawberries, grilled bread, Really Raw honey, rosemary, olive oil and the Tuna Tartare which were both excellent. We then chose the Chloe Pasta Carbonara which was one of the evening specials and was being prepared by Chef Karoum. It had smoked pork belly, garlic, sheep's milk cheese topped with a soft poached egg. This was amazing and I would have licked the bowl if I knew I could get away with it. This Michelin guide restaurant served an out of this world fare. The drinks were made to perfection. The service was top notch. Chef Haidar came out to greet us upon request. The space is cozy and aesthetically pleasing. Chloe caters to their customers. There is something on the menu for everyone - vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, seafood, etc. Here's what we ordered for the table: 1. Crispy Softshell Crab with green papaya salad, roasted peanut, pepper-lime sauce - my favorite! 2. Sheep's Milk Ricotta with grilled house made bread, honey, rosemary 3. Caramelized Cauliflower - this made me a fan of cauliflower, which I typically don't like. 4. Hierloom Tomato Salad & Cobia Crudo with avocado in a savory fish sauce and puffed black rice - not bad 5. Grilled Berkshire Pork Chop with bagna cauda pasta 6. Spice Roasted Chicken with sticky rice 7. Crispy Whole Fish with jasmine rice and salsa verde. - It needed more seasoning, but the fish was cooked perfectly. 8. Most plates were $20-$30, and the servings were definitely on more of a smaller-plate sized. Maybe not ideal for a group of 5 sharing, but we got lots of variety so it was a little taste for each of us. Platting was exceptional for some dishes- while commonplace for some others. Overall- considering how saturated DC can be with food choices, I might head back if we're in Navy Pier and needing an easy reservation. read more

We decided to come here on a whim and boy were we in for a surprise. We wanted to order a light breakfast so we started with the house bread, banana bread, mushroom omelette and honey butter toast. The bread was a fresh sourdough that had a crunch, light and airy on the inside and crisp on the outside. There was a honey spread around the toast and was addicting to be honest. The banana bread was not too dense, had the real banana within the bread and small morsels of chocolate as well. It came with a cream that was also amazing to add to the sweetness. The mushroom omelette was velvety and smooth. It had pieces of various mushrooms and cheese within and melted in your mouth. We also ordered the crispy cauliflower, it was tart and tangy and came tossed in a tahini sauce. It was the most popular item on the menu and it was stellar. Highly recommend this place. Great spot in Navy Yard! The ambience is warm and comfortable. Great for family, friends or a date. The menu includes a variety of different cuisines. The size of the dish increases as you go down the menu. Our waitress noted that the menu is meant to be shared and recommended 2-3 dishes per person. We got the house bread and olive plate to start. Would recommend both! For the larger plates we got the Sauteed Broccolini with Marinated Tofu, Grilled Lemongrass Flat Iron Minute Steak, and Caramelized Cauliflower. Would recommend the tofu/broccolini. The tofu fried well and is accompanied by a nice sauce. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the cauliflower, ours was a little over fried and the lemon was a little overpowering. Our waitress was attentive and the service was very good. It was such a hot day and they were able to accommodate us INDOOR and early. We ordered so many amazing dishes! My top favorites were: Hamachi crudo was fantastic. Citrus, flavorful and fresh. We almost ordered another one. Fresh Ricotta with peaches and honey served with grilled bread. Perfection in every bite with creamy savory and slightly sweet flavors. It also comes with an arugula salad to add a slight spice. Spice Roasted Chicken- delicious, crispy AND juicy. The sauce on the side was delicious. It's Asian inspired and reminds me of Vietnamese/Thai chicken and rice. We also ordered the cauliflower (very good), potatoes (skip), and the crispy fish (also good but not the top favorite). I've been meaning to check out this place for brunch for awhile, but haven't had the opportunity until recently. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and their patio does have heaters. There's also a fairly large bar area with high top tables and first come, first serve seating. I thought all of the food that I had was really good, and the portion sizes weren't too bad either. These plates are meant to be shared, but there are a few that will suffice as a single entree. The Wild Flower Honey Butter toast is AMAZING. The soft scramble was surprisingly good as well. For my drink, I enjoyed the Hello is the Final Word cocktail. They warn you on the menu that it's spicy, but I still wasn't ready for that heat. I swear they put a ghost pepper in it or something.
