The pork was super chewy- I felt a little embarrassed trying to eat it with the people I went to lunch with. It did have a good spice if you are into spiciness. And they put the fries in right when ordered so they are hot and crisp and fresh! It's a little hard to eat bc it's all in that little dish, but I think it's worth trying. I think I've been to every Chi'Lantro in Austin and Houston. I'm a huge fan. I used to stalk their podunk website in Houston to see where they'd be on any given night. I played bar trivia at Little Woodrows just to eat at Chi'Lantro - I love them, LOVE THEM. Buuuut, this location doesn't live up to the Chi'Lantro name. They are just starting out, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, but my lackluster experience is really weighing on me. If you come here and don't enjoy the food, please don't give up on Chi'Lantro completely, I promise there are better spots. I ate the OG Kimchi Fries and not only were the fries cold and pre-cooked, but the employee was being really stingy with the toppings. I'm talking five pieces of kimchi total. The main ingredient was hardly there. There was more Ribeye than kimchi. Idk, but I wasn't impressed. What I will give to this location is the ambiance. It's a beautiful space with a patio and updated decor. It's really beautiful. Overall, I'm giving this place 3 stars so I can come back and try it again when they work out all the kinks. This is the absolute worst location I've ever been to. I've been here at least 5 times and had my ordered screwed up almost every single time. The staff are extremely rude and no one knows how to roll a damn burrito. We ordered chips and queso and they only filled the queso container up halfway. Pretty much I can never go back to Chipotle because this place has ruined me for rice bowls. I love the spicy chicken and kimchi, which makes Chipotle seem bland in comparison. I also love all the colorful vegetables that makes me feel healthy for eating here. Plus, with such a variety of sauces to finish it off, I never get the same meal twice. I liked seeing that there is also a kids meal and beer selection. I usually make my lunches here a working lunch because there's ample table space, then I can get lots of Main Root refills while I chill for a couple hours. All in all, this place is a step up from most fast casual places. read more

I asked one of the coworkers who does the cooking if the do birthday surprises or songs....his respond was like soorrrry we don't do that. This place has good food. I didn't think service was amazing and fairly priced but it was good good. If I did my large order all over I say skip the chipotle themed part of this place. This was our visit to Chi'lantro and the overwhelming amount of options was exciting and the employees were very helpful in making our decisions. We got the original kimchi fries (sans onions) with spicy pork and the noodle bowl with spicy chicken. We loved everything we tried. Let me start off with this. The past employees that worked here before were awesome! However all the new employees now are careless. I have not been here in 4 months, and today decided to stop by and get "what I thought was some good food." What I ended up witnessing was the absence of FOOD SAFTEY. We ordered the 10 count chicken wings and two bowls. The guy with the dreads handled the raw chicken, then proceeded to handle my bowl order WITHOUT CHANGING HIS GLOVES. I don't need to tell y'all, that's shit is NASTY! He prepared my food and everyone else's food with the same set of gloves he handled raw chicken with. I told the girl with the red hair (as seen in the picture) if she can remake my bowl because of that. She got an attitude and took the bowls and walked away. She didn't even apologize or treat it as a serious issue. After this incident there was no action, or counseling taken. Then the guy with the dreads kept doing the same thing. I've tried almost everything here through UberEats and by going to this storefront in person since they've been open about a couple weeks ago. Tacos: 11/10. I love the bulgogi beef. Noodle Bowl: 10/10. TWO WORDS: Those-Noodles. Rice Bowl: 9/10. Would have been 11/10, but the kimchi sauce was too hot for my taste buds. I love their kimchi fries so I was really excited about this new location opening. But I feel they really skimp on the meat here on the salads and rice/noodle bowels. It's very obvious compared to the other places nearby - verts, pho please, chipotle, that give a generous portion for similar price. My husband always pays extra for double portions, which he says actually makes it "normal" portions. The kimchi fries are huge though, and can fill you up on their own. But who wants to only eat fries for a meal? I wish they offer a half serving, that way I can get it as a side instead. Otherwise the place is always clean and the workers have been really nice. The kid's bowl could easily feed an adult. Its portion is definitely worth the price, and the food is delicious. It's phenomenal, and everything in the bowl compliments each other perfectly. The chips and queso are delicious! The chips are crisp and the queso is warm and not too overpowering--a great combination. There's a bit of spice in the queso, so it's definitely worth trying out! The servers are so nice and patient, and the ambiance is casual and friendly. The decorations serve to make you feel comfortable while staying chic and modern. Good food but the service is pretty slow. I ordered my noodle bowl and by the time i had paid and sat down to eat it was almost cold. I know it's new and they will probably figure it out soon but I just want to give some hopefully helpful thoughts. Instead of 3 people handling the food and 1 cashier, have 2 people doing food and 2 at the cash register as that seemed to be the biggest back up. This way the three people on the food orders arent getting caught up with whose doing what as it seemed like they were. For to go orders, have the first person write the order on the box. That way the last person can box it up and bag it so the lone cash register doesn't have to. Still yummy though so if you have time to spare, check it out! Or avoid peek hours. read more

I work down the street and this is a very popular option when I gotta escape for lunch. They do not accept cash so take a card with you. Parking is somewhat available on the street but there is a little parking garage right behind it so don't fret, and it's free. They serve Maine Root which is banging and are super helpful if you have questions. Also, if you want more of something, speak up. You want more cheese? Get you some more cheese. Same with sauce. You do you and don't let them hide your light under a bushel. Absolute fave is you can get a fried egg on anything!!!! Yay!!! read more

We recently moved away from the '41, and one of the biggest things I miss is the Southshore District Chi'Lantro. The food is consistently delicious and fresh, the people who work there are super friendly every single time, and their ambiance makes it feel like you're having a kind of upscale sit-down meal even though it's technically "fast casual". The flavors they combine are pretty striking and original, and there's honestly nothing better than just popping off the hike and bike trail and up to Chi'Lantro for a tasty meal. It's surprisingly hard to find food that is fresh and not overpriced, especially in that area. They give you enough food that, unless you have an enormous appetite, you will have some leftovers to snack on later. I particularly enjoy the (GF) noodle bowl, and the abundance of fresh veggies / kimchi / other options that you can get with it. Their marinated tofu is awesome, but they also have some pretty decadent meaty things for the carnivores among you. I would recommend the carrot ginger dressing. So ... I live in the South Shore District where this half rate restaurant is. I have gone on several occasions only because there are no other options. I have a service animal who I have brought with me numerous times. Tonight Johnny decided he was going to be the "service " animal police and kicked us out. For the purposes of what I'm not sure. It was 9:30 pm and not a soul other than me was in the restaurant. Do not choose to spend my money on over priced fast food when treated so poorly by a restaurant who employs such kinds.
