A friend buys a lot of clothes online from this store. When I decided I needed some new slacks I stopped in the store. I never know what I want until I try things on. I have to be sure that what I think I like in a catalog is appropriate for my age group, not the one I sometimes think I am and my lifestyle. This store is small, yet they seem to have a good selection of clothing. The dressing rooms are small but are big enough for me to see if the clothes fit. I wanted to try something. The salesperson said no as I started to put my purchase down she smiled and pointed me to the dressing room. It took forever to check out. Because I got what I wanted and it fit so well. I'll be back and not expect much more than that. 5 stars for the clothes and 2 for customer service. read more

I like this Chico's and yes, it's the location closest to me in the East Bay. The women who work there are totally nice, they greet me and are quite helpful and I really appreciate it. My issue is that they don't have the longer pant sizes in the store and I'm used to being able to find them. My issue is that I placed an order and the pants ordered were an R (regular), not an L (long) as I requested. Also, I was given a larger size to try, and when I was skinny (many moons ago) that was how I got around the issue. I now have curves and the extra fabric doesn't hang down like it used to. Also, I have long legs, have always had them so my fear is to have pants that are high waters or could be. I don't have that problem with the longer pants, which is why I ordered them. Next time, I'm going to go to the outlet, something I was trying to avoid, so that I can try on and buy the long pants that I want. The good thing is that I could return the pants and get my money back at the store. But that was something that I didn't want to do. Next time I'll order the pants that I want online so that I get the size that I want. read more

I'm not sure how folks get hired at this particular location of Chico's but perhaps they should read up on what customer service is all about. I had a very unpleasant experience there today with a member of the staff. Turns out that my elderly mother loves shopping at Chico's and is a loyal customer. We shopped there a few weeks ago and when we got home, we realized that we had been charged twice for one of the items we purchased. I went in today to explain what had happened and wow, I was shocked at the treatment I got. What should have been an easy conversation got pretty ugly. She kept saying "it says final sale" and I kept trying to explain that we had been charged for an item twice. How could it have been a final sale when the item hadn't been sold? It was a final overcharge! One item showed up on the bill twice. How hard is that to understand? Sure, my 87 year old mother should have made sure the staff did their job the first time, but gosh, shame on her. She didn't. Turns out, neither did they. It was pretty unreal. There are plenty other Chico's that do a much better job of treating their customers well. For some reason, the Lafayette store doesn't seem to have the same level of service. I found Chico's last week while looking for a nearby shipping store. I ended up in this location twice that day and I don't even want to tell you how much I ended up spending, but the value of the multiple bags of clothing and jewelry I went home with far exceeded my expectations. The quality and design of the shirts Marnie helped me pick out were so great that I bought a couple extras as gifts. Mom was thrilled to receive her "just because" tank and bracelets today. The bracelets even came in cute little gift bags. And the best part, everything was on sale! And there was a sale, on TOP of the clearance prices. For my first time shopping here, I think I fell in love! I'm mostly an online shopper, and this store made me rethink the way I buy clothes. The personal, non-pushy interaction with my girl and also the manager (whose name I forget) made it feel more like I was out shopping with a stylish girlfriend than asking for help from an industry professional. I bought a pair of pants and the store would not accept my return because I waited too long. I wasn't even offered a store credit.

I came here to return two items I had ordered online. I brought in everything, including the bag and mailing label it came with so they could easily look up my order information. The cashier told me one of the items was on final sale so there would be zero refund. When I purchased the items online, there was no mention of a final sale. I explained that to her, but she kept repeating that it's on final sale and there would be no refund. When I stated I would never shop at Chico's again, the manager stepped in. Upon looking at my order, she noticed that the shirt was not on final sale when I bought it. They then asked me for my phone number so that they could bring up some kind of special code to allow them to refund me. Once everything was said and done, the cashier implied that I somehow botched the return instead of apologizing for not seeing or believing me that the item was not on final sale. Ridiculous. The clothes are VERY ugly to boot. Ugh, don't shop here. read more

It's been a while since I've been in the store. My husband bought me a couple of things online that didn't fit. What's funny is that I thought they were from JJill, so I went there. I told them that he didn't keep the receipt, but the clothes and the tags on an obviously weren't worn. The sales clerk said no problem, we can do an exchange. But then we realized that they were from Chicos. We all laughed, I bought something from JJill, and then I went to Chicos. The Chico's person was so rude. She said no exchange possible without a receipt. I felt interrogated. She kept asking what account my husband used. I explained that he's a typical husband so just bought online and would not have a Chico's account. We finally got it resolved after I called him and he found an email confirmation and sent it to me. But the whole encounter felt accusatory. So unpleasant and in such stark contract to JJill and the other places I shop. I won't be back!! read more

I hadn't been to Chico's in years but happened to be at Fiesta Square and decided to stop in. I won't go back due to the rude treatment by the sales person and lack of basic customer service. My email about the experience to their main customer service address went unanswered. I think that speaks volumes. Too bad there isn't anything below one star. This store is not like the other Chicos. The manager in the store is guaranteed to make your shopping experience the worst possible she will size you up to decide if you're worthy of even acknowledging and completely ignore you if she doesn't feel you're going to spend enough money, she is a very angry woman and has no problem, yelling and screaming at customers. I've honestly never seen anything like this. I have seen this woman on several occasions berate customers for asking a simple question. I've seen her turn what would've been a normal exchange for a different size into an ordeal. I, myself I've only had one interaction Where I was overcharged around $20 for an item and when I brought it to her attention, she absolutely threw a fit, over $20! I would go to any other store in the bay area other than this one. Where are the district managers and why haven't they done anything about this woman? Isn't anybody reading the reviews on yelp? Yes I've already called Chicos customer service. They had me speak to a supervisor. They took a report but that's all they can do right now. read more

Shop here at your own risk. They failed to give me a receipt for my cash purchase. Realizing that I didn't get a receipt, I called the store 20 min later. The clerk took my email address saying she'd email me the receipt. I never received the receipt. What kind of busines operates this way? I'll never shop here again. read more

Very difficult and disturbing experience with the return process. First attempt they refunded one shirt and instead of giving back the shirt that lost the gift tag they kept it ( I had my daughter bring it back which leaves me to believe they were taking advantage of a teen). I went back to retrieve it with the gift tag but they had already retagged it and put it on the rack to resell. Now they wanted to give me the tagged price on the shirt they had essentially stolen instead of full price. By the time I returned with my shirt (which I took back) and original receipts I had passed the 60 days so I got nothing. I would have been privy to a refund, but I was not a loyalty customer. As I left, the manager audibly stated, "good riddance". I can't imagine that type of customer service brings repeat customers. read more

Always it's a pleasure to come in here, today I had the best two sales a girl could ask for as I finished up the register was busy so my sales guy and girl provided Amazing service, store is immaculate clean well organized , fitting room also very clean, great inventory, I went to pay I get online, I see the customer that is at the register is going to be a while there are several transactions happening, the sales guy quickly sees what's happening jumps onto the second register to assist me so I could check out and this manager steps in and says no she can wait for the register, I could see the sales guy just wanted to help but she said no again, I was to wait she was not allowing him to use the register, so I decided I really didn't appreciate this treatment so just left, I told the sales guy thank you so much however please put everything away, sale lost for Chico today $250, I will come back when people are in a better mood, the one thing I don't appreciate is bad behavior when I am enjoying a day of shopping. read more

For me Chico's is either a hit or a miss. When it is a hit, I am ready to open my wallet. But on other occasions, I see nothing at all I like. First, I think Chico's appeals mainly to women of a "certain age" ... that would be me! The first Chico's was on Sanibel Island near Ft. Myers FL so, in my mind, a lot of the clothes still seem to be more resort wear and at a bit too "glittery." Also the last few years I have noticed the fabrics are not as nice as they once were. But that seems to be true of most stores. Today, I went to Chico's thinking I would use my $10 birthday coupon on a t-shirt. Didn't find a t-shirt, but was delighted that everything was 40% off. Came away with a 100% cotton shirt in a bright print that is a good match for some capri pants I already had. Also found a pair of bermuda shorts that will be perfect for hot days through September and later for a winter trip to Florida. The store seemed a little "jammed" with merchandise so it took a while to work my way through the racks. Maria was my sales clerk. She was pleasant and helpful. Will definitely return to this location ... especially since Chico's in Walnut Creek has closed. read more

I have shopped at this store for many years.I have bought a lot of cloths here and even modeled their clothes for club fashion shows. I have also gotten gift certificates for friends there. I modeled some cloths just before the pandemic. I bought a cute pantsuit. I only wore it one time. I washed the blouse. It had holes in it. I took it back today. Zero stars???? I walked in this location mid week and started browsing- money in hand, ready to do some damage$$$... No one greeted me or even acknowledged the fact that I was a person inside a place! The store is small and you can certainly see everyone from cash register..... 20 minutes and the only hello I get was because I was in someone's way. I asked to try on the pieces I selected and the response was "no"...she then looked at the dressing rooms and said "well we're busy right now." Offering no solution to the fact that I wanted to buy these clothes, try them on ( ridiculous demands, right?). She then handed them to another lady at the counter and said, "she can help you" (obviously brushing me off). It's important to note that there are 3 people in this store.... Me being one of them. The minion be hind the desk took my name and said it could be as long as 20 minutes.... JUST TO TRY THESE ON! I left the store, gracefully of course-- but will never go back again. I will tell everyone I know never to go to the Layfayette location. This store will close and turn into a coffee shop because I even look the direction. The staff was rude and I think I bit judgemental. As someone who is 30s but looks 20s shopping at a store catered to women in their 50s... Do you they think I was just moseying around for my health??? Basically if your not an older white women... Don't shop here, they won't have a room for you anyway. read more

I'm surprised by reviews I read because I thought the Lafayette Chico's was great place to shop. Marnie was very friendly and helpful and I found several cute items including a really cute lighter weight rain coat that was 40% off the mark down price...a steal for something that I will wear to work almost every day in San Francisco! There is parking in the back which is very convenient. I'd shop at this Chico's anytime. Compared to the SF location where some of the sales people have a bit of an attitude, the ladies who work here were friendly and helpful. read more

No one greeted us when we came in, which I understand is a Chico's policy. My friend asked to put a top on hold for an hour while we went next door. When we returned in 25 minutes, the top had been returned to the rack. The cashier (attractive older Asian woman) seemed to be very confused about a previous transaction and couldn't help us until she figured it out. So we stood there for a few minutes while she just stared at a receipt. After looking through all the jewelry/accessories and still no service, I finally cleared my throat and asked if there was someone else who could ring us up. The clerk very slowly rang us up and bagged the top, but never made any attempt at conversation or to be pleasant. I will definitely not spend my time or money at this store. My recent experience at this store will basically mean I don't shop at Chico's any more. I bought two pairs of pants there, washed them in cold water and put them in the dryer. Now, the label says to dry flat, but it does not say 'do not tumble dry' and since I have some other pants made of the same material that I've been putting in the dryer for years it didn't occur to me that there would be a problem. I put it on a cool dry, and they came out easily one if not two sizes smaller. I had bought them intentionally a bit big, and when they came out there were over an inch too short and tight. I took them in to the Lafayette CA store and the sales assistant and the manager were both rude and unhelpful. They told me I must have washed them in hot water, rather than asking me what temperature water I washed them in. They were condescending and unhelpful. They told me all their reviews were great and that they all wore them and they were fine. I wasn't asking for a refund, I was admitting that I made a mistake and I would actually have been happy with just one replacement pair of a discount toward something else. I told them I thought their labeling needed to be much clearer if not following it to the letter had such an adverse reaction, and that since I'd bought them large I'd have been happy if they'd only shrunk a little. Nothing. Just more rudeness and a reminder of how good their reviews are. So I had been sent an email by Chico's and been asked to write a review. So I did. And guess what? It was rejected saying that I didn't follow their guidelines. I read their guidelines and I saw nothing in them that I could point to that I hadn't followed. I guess they just don't like bad reviews. Finally I posted to their Facebook page. Again, not very helpful. They told me to PM them which I couldn't do, presumably because they're not set up that way on Facebook. They told me to write a review. See above. I give up. Won't be shopping at Chico's again. I really like this store and especially Deanna, the manager. She really knows her clothing line and helped me get jeans and pants that fit well and look great. Trust her on the sizes! While the look of their clothes is "young," it's not too young. I am in my sixties and don't have a model's figure but I can still see that I look good in these clothes! read more

I wish there were more clothing stores in Lafayette, we have to go to Walnut Creek if we want a proper mall. Chicos seems to have a lot of clothes for an age group I can't figure out, like extra large ladies pants in colors kids wouldn't wear, and sparkly things and leopard print. The staff here is pretty nice, they always help if you are looking for something. It feels like its for an older crowd, and only women. Mostly it is just convenient because its close to the Safeway, and sometimes it is nice to admire the jewelry. read more

Funny store.... They will either ignore or maybe even insult you, or glob on to you and not let go. Last visit young sales women kept on insisting I try this or that and checked on me every two minutes .She then told me I had to come out of dressing room to show her the horrible outfits she had suggested! The thing is,I'm old enough to know what works for me and I definitely know that I won't wear Panther prints or sparkely stuff ! I think chicos management should train employees not to be so aggressive. On the flip side ignoring customers or asking them insulting questions should also be discouraged. Beware of shirts made of 60% cotton and 40% modal. In the past 18 months, I've purchased 6 of these shirts, and now they all have small holes where they rubbed against the button on my jeans. The last 3 purchased lasted less than 4 months. I wrote to corporate and here is the response I received in part: "We understand customers are drawn to cotton knit fabric being used in the past few seasons throughout the retail industry for its softness and lightness. The fabric is thinner than standard T-shirt cotton knit to achieve this affect and therefore, more delicate. Over time, in areas the fabric is rubbed against a counter top or the trouser button or belt buckle, wear may occur. Chico's strives to provide the highest quality fabrics of this kind to minimize wear, as much as possible." They also said that they hoped I would be pleased with future purchases of this type of fabric. No, there will be no future purchases. read more
