I had a couple troubles with this store and through a series of events got connected with Crystal, the district manager. Let me tell you, from then on, I have had a lesson in the most excellent customer service! She is thorough, friendly, patient, quick to respond and extremely understanding. She helped me return some items during an extretmely difficult time in my life and I will be forever thankful for her help. Honestly, I was starting to think customer service like this was dead, but Crystal made me believe again! The store is closing and they have a "buy one get one free" sale, but PLEASE BEWARE! Only buy 2 items at a time to get the true deal. Even if you are buying 10 items, please be sure to insist the sales people ring up 5 separate transactions of 2 items at a time so you get the best deal, otherwise, they will ring them all up together and only give you the 4 very lowest prices. It is unfortunate that the sales people don't tell customers this information in advance, but at least when you realize it, you can usually return everything and have them re-ring it so you get the deal. But, it is absolutely scammy when they don't tell you and it's a "final sale". I saw a lady in this store today buy multiple items only to find out that she did not get the deal she thought she was getting because of the way the transaction was rung up. Because it was a "final" sale, the man ringing her up said he couldn't help her and it was too late. The sale was final. Whether that was really true or not doesn't matter as much as how the sales person treated this customer. He had no empathy and really was not a nice person about it. After the lady left, he said "why do I care what happens, the stores closing and I'm not going to be here anyway." It's such a commentary on how some people just can't be kind. How hard would it be to tell customers ahead how best to have their transactions rung up to get the deal or at least be kind when the customer feels very wronged? I really don't know what is wrong with people these days. I hope this lady disputes this transaction with her credit card company because I'm sure she will be given the accurate amount she would have gotten with a proper checkout process, but with everything happening in the world today, it so sad to see that a young man couldn't have been a nicer human. read more

Usually I go to the Pleasanton store bc of the proximity, but I had a hold at this location & stopped by. The ladies were professional & the environment was very relaxing. They definitely had a great selection, especially in their Final Sale shelf. I managed to snag a $4.95 polyester skirt. You can't buy much for $4.95, so that was the bargain of the day. This location seems to carry a lot more items than Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton, so for selection this store carries a lot. read more

I just had the most upsetting experience at the store in Lafayette. They had a sale indicating that everything was buy one get one free. I ended up purchasing four tops, two piece of jewelry and four fragrances, thinking that the total would be 50% off. No. They took the five cheapest items and gave them to me for free. These items were 8.00 compared to the more expensive clothing items. When I asked the sales clerk he was extremely rude. I told him I thought it was false advertising and I wanted my money back. He said they don't give refunds. When I said that I would then refute the charges with my CC then, he said he "didn't get paid to deal with that kind of crap and that I better leave or he'd call the police". I am sure he didn't want others to overhear the conversation...and I am sure that this young man KNEW exactly what he was doing when he processed the transaction. He could have easily warned me and I would have broken it into two transactions. My lesson learned - I should have stopped the transaction when I thought it didn't seem right. Now the only things I know to do are post the first EVER review to warn others, see if I can refute the charges, and report them to BBB. It probably won't matter because they are going out of business. So, I can only hope that Karma catches up with him someday. I'll be donating the clothes to someone in need so that something good comes from something bad. read more

I would honestly give less than one star if possible. I am a frequent shopper, and today at the Francesca's in Lafayette, CA I had BY FAR the worst service I have ever received. I bought ~$150 worth of merchandise online (3 items: 1 dress in a S and another dress in a S and M to try both) I didn't love them when they arrived and I tried them on, so I wanted to return them. The return policy online says that I am able to return online purchases in store. The return policy printed in store says to check the return policy online for online returns. From the start, the return experience in store was sketchy. She started by telling me that she might not be able to return the items I bought online unless the store had carried them. Fortunately, I had seen one of the dresses in store on my way in. She was able to pull up this dress, but it showed that it was $20 (paid $60). She was able to price adjust this, and I got the full amount back. She then doubled down that she probably wouldn't be able to return the other dresses as she wasn't sure they had carried them in that particular store. I asked her to please check. I thought that was weird because the return policy online doesn't list any such clarifiers and the online policy is referenced as the standard for online returns made in stores. She was able to scan the dresses, but told me that they were $7 (paid $40) and she could not return them as they were under $10. On the return policy in store, it says that they are not able to return FINAL SALE items under $10. I clarified that none of my items were final sale. She was adamant that it didn't matter since the system wouldn't allow her to change it (even though I had just watched her do a price adjustment in the last dress). I called customer service to get clarification on the policy of what I was able to return. The person I spoke to on the phone confirmed that I am able to return online purchases in store as long as it was within 21 days, I didn't use PayPal and none of the items were under $10 (there may have been a few other exceptions, none of which applied to me). I explained the situation that I was being told that the dresses were showing up as the $7 and asked if she could speak to the person in store to help get this resolved. The customer service person was great and said she would be happy to! When I gave my phone to the store manager, I asked if she could please put the phone on speaker so I could hear the conversation. I normally wouldn't do this, but I felt many times during our interactions to that point that I was being taken advantage of. She ignored me 4 times before finally putting the phone on speaker. The customer service person confirmed that none of the items were under $10. She said that the store manager should be able to price adjust it as a lot of other stores had easily been able to do this. She gave a contact that could walk her through the process. Once we got the contact in the phone, she was easily able to find the dresses she "wouldn't be able to find" and complete the price adjustment that "the system wouldn't allow" her to do. It's possible that she is just not the best at her job or there were weird system glitches that made the process terrible. I think it's more likely that individual stores aren't credited for online purchases but are charged for returns. I understand that this is a frustrating policy. If the experience had been better, I would have done all I could to return online returns via mail going forward. However, I don't think a bad policy at the corporate level should justify treating me rudely or preventing me from returning something in store when that is clearly allowed in the return policy. I'm thankful that I was able to ultimately return my items, but it did waste an hour of my time. Instead of being at all apologetic, I was asked if I normally wear a S. Since most of the items I own from Francesca's are S, I said yes. She responded "if I were to style you I would definitely put you in a M". I was at the Old Mill Distric store today & they are advertising 50% off Entire Boutique. I stopped in and found a couple of items. When I went to pay for them they were both FULL price. I asked about the "50% off the entire boutique" and was told most items were 50% off, but the two I had chosen were full price. I was told management decided which were on sale & which were not ‍. I stumbled upon this cute boutique after reading about it online. It turns out that it's a chain with 500 boutiques nationwide! What reeled me in was the sale -- buy 1 get 1 50% off! Not bad at all : ) I walked in the back way, from the parking lot, and when I was done looking at the funny inspirational placards on the back wall, I spun around to see displays of so many different things! A wall of purses! A large table full of jewelry! A table stacked with fun knick-knacks! Floor-to-ceiling displays of apparel and outfits! I couldn't quite focus on one thing because I wanted to focus on it all : ) It was like a tiny Urban Outfitters/Free People, but at a more accessible price point. Trendy, cute, youthful accessories and garb plus kitschy souvenirs. They salesgirls were really helpful and nice. It may have been because I was the only "adult" in the store full of pre-teen girls, but they were really informative and attentive. Since I didn't have time to check out everything today, I plan to come back this weekend before this sale ends on Monday since I spotted a few adorable dresses and shirts. (One of the salesgirls told me that they have various sales throughout the year -- one of their better ones being buy 1 necklace and get 1 for $5. I decided to check out Francescas in Lafayette because I saw some items that I liked on their website. Unfortunately, this store location didn't have the items I saw online. One of the girls that worked at the store called the Danville store and Stoneridge Mall to see if they had the items that I was looking for. I really appreciated the great customer service the two sales ladies provided me today. It took me sometime to search the 3 items I really wanted but during that time TJ was checking in with me if I was doing ok. She was checking in with other customers in the fitting room. Cute stuff. I would enjoy it more, if I didn't feel like I had the sales associates commenting on everything I looked at or trying to up-sell five or six times in ten minutes. I've been in retail before (anthropologie, etc.) so I completely understand wanting to provide excellent customer service. However the level of 'over service' frankly makes me feel uncomfortable and I dread going in. I feel so distracted by having to nicely say 'no', 'ok thanks', 'I don't have any events coming up', 'no thanks', over and over that I just don't want to come back despite how nice some of their clothes and items are. I heard one of the shop ladies talking to another associate about anticipating the customers needs, which in essence is a good thing-- but in practice, the sales associates have taken this to an extreme that is pushy and drives away business. Avoid... They have cute items but the girl who rang me up, (Elizabeth according to my receipt...she had brown hair with blondish ends) was extremely rude and unprofessional. As I was driving away, I noticed that she had rung up my purchase wrong so I had to turn my car around and come back. When Iasked her to please check it and make the adjustments, she acted extremely put out and said "it would only be like a $9 difference" (yeah...for each of the things that she had rung up incorrectly, which was more than one). Thankfully after another girl stepped in to help make the adjustments and alleviate the tense situation. I thanked her for her help and then Elizabeth actually had the nerve to say that I was a very "thrify shopper". I just spent over $200 in your store; are you f-ing kidding me...?!?!? You DO NOT say that to people... Never in my life have I been treated so rudely by a SALES person. She didn't even apologize for making the mistake! Appalling. I will not be back. I keep trying with this Francesca's because it's convenient and I'm local. Unfortunately every time it's a let down. The staff is unfriendly and so over pushy it's really ruining the experience. The stuff here is so amazing, so friendly, is so helpful! I went here on a Thursday night before my Manny Petty and put some stuff on hold thinking they'll be done before seven. I called Friday morning to see if my items were put back on the rack and the lady that was working today I forgot her name but she was so amazing she called me but I was at work and I called her back and I told her what I had on hold and she told me that there was not put back yet and told me she would hold it for me. I ended up getting three things and she has such amazing customer service, was very friendly and very helpful and made me feel welcomed! I have been too many locations of Francesca's, I have been to the Black Hawk, downtown Danville, stone ridge, Emeryville before they closed, the Westfield mall in the city, the Livermore outlet, Monterey mall! I'd say this store is for the under 30 crowd. Very cute fashions, run on the small side. Good quality step up from H&M and Forever21, seams nicely finished, high quality buttons, snaps and trim. Reasonably priced. Not a huge store but always something that my daughter likes. And their accessories are excellent, the buyer has a good eye, especially for costume jewelry. Clothing here is very seasonal so worth stopping in every 3-4 months for something to spruce up the wardrobe or for something better than everyday school wear. Been in there twice and so far the salespeople were fine. I can speak from experience that good sales staff are hard to find - they either don't show up or quit after 8 months so I am willing to cut the small retailer some slack as long as service isn't an ongoing problem. read more

This place just recently opened next to Postino's. We strolled through here before dinner and the store definitely seems more targeted to the younger crowd (high school and early college years). They do have some pretty jewelry and I was able to find a cardigan but most likely I would only come back for the jewelry. Absolutely love this boutique and what they have to offer. I have gotten so many compliments on clothing and accessories purchased from this store. However, the salespeople are incredibly pushy and unprofessional which leads me to avoid shopping at this store location completely (opting for shopping online or at Danville location instead). I find it really hard to shop in peace at this store, on repeated occasions the workers have bombarded me with unnecessary questions and commentary (asking me to exit the dressing room to see what I have on while in the process of changing, bringing me items of clothing and jewelry that I have no interest in, urging me to purchase items on sale, etc.). I REALLY love the clothing here. I have been to this store three times. First time, the sales girl was amazing. She stocked my dressing room full of goodies -- and if something was so-so, she'd accessorize and make a sale. 2nd time was also wonderful. THIS TIME, today, May 15th at 12:45 pm, the girls there were AWFUL!!! I was at the shop with 2 events in mind that I needed outfits for. My mom was with me and she wanted to get me quite a few things for birthday/etc gifts. Not only did the sales girls not say "hi, welcome to francesca's" -- they just completely ignored us. I voiced several times how I was really looking for a skirt/short/top combo, etc etc -- even the shoes -- and neither lifted a finger or eyeball to help. As I tried stuff on, neither even said "hey, that looks cute, did you try a belt? scarf?" or "what about this color instead"...My mom is sitting there going, "do you want this or that etc etc etc" and neither sales girl even TRIED to sell an item. If we asked about sizes, options in colors, they seemed annoyed we even wanted help. I was soooooooo let down. One of them could've made a commission from us. My mom was the one helping me the whole time. Plus, the blonde was snacking behind the counter while touching the clothing. I don't want her dirty hands all over stuff I'm trying to buy. She had the nerve to tell me only dresses were on sale, when I had 3 tops with 30% off tags from another rack. She goes "oh yeah, those"... I would love to shop there again, but if either of those girls are in there, I'd walk right out. One was a redhead with glasses, the other a blonde with ZERO personality. read more

Just wore them to Costa Rica and got endless compliments on. them! I finally gave them to a sweet bartender at a hostel bar on the beach!! This is place is absolutely gorgeous! I thought that the clothes here would be crazy expensive. But it was really affordable! They have really good deals and sales. Check out their sales rack, you can easily find a gem. As I was browsing the store, I was approached by Racheal. She asked if I would be needing a fitting room. Once I was set up with one, she added some other items that was similar to what I picked out. Which worked out great because I loved it! I ended up spending over $100. But it was so worth it! I went to the Lafayette store with the intention of buying a purse and a few items that were on sale at the time. The sales lady that was helping me took the purse displayed with the mannequin. I love the color and design but was COMPLETELY TURNED OFF when another sales lady asked if I was done looking at the purse. She rudely asked that if I was not going to buy it to give it to her so she can put it back on display. I had for 5 minutes! I had every intention of purchasing it but her tone of voice and unprofessional attitude changed mind. This is my 2nd time to visit this store and the employees are very unprofessional! read more

Sometimes I go here and there is a lot I see I love and other times not so much, but overall I love the accessories and the clothes. Cute store too! Horrible. I work in retail, have been for 10 years now. I know how a store should run. This is not it. I came here two separate times. Both were horrible. I will not be back! The first time they rang me up incorrectly and proceeded to tell me I was wrong! The jewelry was suppose to be buy one get one 50% off and both were regular price on the receipt!! It took forever for the sales girl to refund me my money back. Her manager was gone and left her there alone unable to process returns. Horrible. 2nd time the girl was so pushy I couldn't browse so as I waited for my friend I was looking at all the promo signs around the store, I began reading them off to my friend who was shopping, the sales girl came over to me each time I read the promo sign to my friend and told me the signs were old and the sales ended yesterday. If the signs are old take them down!!!! Who manages this place? How insulting it is to keep up old signs. They need to re-staff this store! read more

I recently found Francesca's and I love this place. The designs are adorable and prices are very reasonable. Store atmosphere is mostly for women in their teens, 20's and some 30's (for non professional outfit). I wouldn't wear Francesca's to work (office), but I love wearing them for everything else, such as comfy home wear and cute outing/weekend wear. I also love their accessories. I've shopped at their Berkeley location as well as this Lafayette location. The ladies in both locations were very friendly, and helpful. I like the Lafayette location a little better because it's closer, it has better parking and they have more merchandise. I will be checking out their different locations as well. Only issue I had was washing their clothes. They are mostly delicates and you have to pay extra attention when washing. I personally don't like to hand-wash and line dry, but the clothes I bought were worth the trouble, so I go back to shop here. I would recommend this place for anyone who likes to dress young and feminine. read more
