I was on a serious hunt for a particular item which brought me here. I visited 3 TJMAXXes prior to coming to this one. This location looks dated on the outside - I was skeptical that I would not find anything. As I walked inside, I was greeted by one of the associates. Off to a nice start! I immediately started looking through the women's aisle and within the first 5 minutes, I FOUND THE ITEM!!!!! I was screaming inside! I perused through the rest of the aisles and found other good items. This store has a lot of hidden gems! Maybe because this location is so deep within Concord/Clayton, it hardly gets picked through unlike the other stores off Diamond or Ignacio Valley, or even the one located in Moraga. I don't care how dated it looks, it's now my lucky store =). I'm definitely coming back! read more

I really enjoy shopping at TJMaxx! Frank, security at the door is always very welcoming & helpful every time I've come in! But today, was a different experience!! Came in with an exchange being needed! One item was a brand of dog treats that I never had tried before! To my surprise...I was told abruptly, that I cannot do that cause the package was opened!!!!! Now....HOW would I know that my dog would or wouldn't like them if I didn't let her try them?? REALLY!!?? Every store that I've ever shopped at takes a "disliked" item back!! if that is NOT possible at this store, a sign should be POSTED, stating the fact that.... "NO RETURNS, IF PACKAGE IS OPENED"!!! I am a VIP card member (world/gold) for TJ Maxx. Today is supposed to be the VIP early access event starting Friday, March 20 through Sunday, March 22 from 8:30 to 10:30AM. See attached promo. I arrived at this location at 8:45 AM. I noticed there were some construction happening. The guy at the door said that they don't open until 9:30 AM. I told him I was here for the VIP 8:30 AM event. He had no idea. He had to bring the manager to talk to me. She apologized and said that they're renovating and closed. Poor management for having construction during a VIP event. I was really upset because I got up early to shop to beat the hot weather. I noticed a few other customers showed up as well. The store didn't have any sign saying that they're doing construction during their VIP event. Shame on management. They need to read their emails from their corporate office. read more

I applied a few months back for a cleaning position. I got called for an interview. I dressed appropriately and was on time, unfortunately the manager or supervisor doing the interview was super rude. She asked me twice if I was authorized to work in the US and had papers. I do but obviously how was I supposed to know I needed to bring some type of birth certificate or paperwork? There should always be a proper and respectful way to approach people, but this lady was the complete opposite. I was discriminated. I'm not really upset for not getting the Job but I'm hoping my experience will reach those who face discrimination and harassment and management reads this so they teach themselves to behave. It's supposed to be 830 to 1030 all TJ Maxx ever since Jim has been gone. This place has gone downhill rapidly. The one on Ygnacio will get my business from now on. This place always has a great selection. Prices are hit or miss, sometimes undeniable and then sometimes just so so. But I do feel like you'd always be able to find something you like here! It's clean, organized and the staff are friendly. One nice thing is the parking lot is huge! No worries about parking. There's also a new and huge Dollar Tree next door so you could really knock out some awesome discount shopping in one foul swoop!! Go check it out! read more

If you're up to being racially profiled and followed around by "loss prevention", look no further! I've come here a couple of times but this last time will be my last time coming here. Took a shopping cart, noticed about maybe a minute and a half after me walking in this over 6 foot tall white guy with tattoos following me around. Went to the baby section to look at the baby clothes and who do I see there? But the same tall guy who is obviously LP Following me around. Go to the next section which is the bathroom section to look at bath rugs, and guess who's there again? The same tall white guy with tattoos following me around. Decide to look in the kitchenware section and guess who follows me all the way to the other side of the store again? The same tall white guy with tattoos. If you're going to racially profile people, maybe you should be less obvious about it. Not only did I have a shopping cart full of things, I also had no bag on me, which made it impossible for me to take things, and I am pregnant walking around Trying to just enjoy my time shopping. I would like to be treated like every other person there, and not followed around by some idiot who doesn't have a real job. I will not be shopping here again nor will I ever give this company another dollar of mine. Higher better staff and loss prevent prevention that aren't racially profiling people and walking around following them to every section they go into. Also maybe consider getting a better person to work your LP seeing as that guy couldn't be any more obvious of what he was doing. read more

I usually frequent the TJMaxx at the Veranda. I was around the area and decided to stop by to see what I could find. The area is rundown. I walked in and couldn't spent 5 minutes inside. I walked around and there wasn't a huge selection of merchandise. It's so unorganized and I felt very uncomfortable so I left. The TJMaxx at the Veranda is way better and has better selections. read more

I love shopping at TJMaxx but today this particular store was a huge disappointment. I regularly shop at the Clayton Road store but today I was treated so rudely it will be a while before I go back- if ever. I was standing in line to check out and the last person ahead of me finished, I walked up to register and the clerk literally turned around and walked off, the other sales person beside them ignored me too and I was left standing there. The rude person behind me would not let me go to the next open register and went ahead, seeing me standing there waiting to check out. I just stood there amazed at how rude people are and how the bad the customer service was... I pushed my cart to the side and walked out! Bad look TJMaxx, I expect rudeness in the snotty east bay but to be left standing there and the sales person not telling that rude ass woman I was next was beyond bad service. I spend a lot of money at that store... not anymore. read more

Love this TJ Maxx! It's fun to walk around this store to check a huge variety of stuff - from home decoration items to dog toys. Speaking of which, they have a huge selection of dog toys. Found a little-lamb squeaky plush toy looking exactly like the one we had at home that our dog loved so much. The only difference was that the one we had at home had one of his ears already chewed off by our dog, lol, so I was so happy to find a brand new one. Our dog will go bananas when she sees the new one :) read more

I know it't not a Bloomingdales but be mindful that the employees that work at this TJ Maxx location are highly incompetent and provide horrible customer service. I wish I caught their names but they annoyed me so much I didn't have the energy to ask. First of all, the FIRST cashier during my purchase bumped my stainless steal item into the plastic barrier so it was damaged and dented. I asked if there was another one and the manager tried to argue that it was on clearance because it was already dented however they found the same exact item that wasn't on clearance with MORE dents. I'm one of those OCD shoppers that check for imperfections before I buy an item especially at a place like TJ Maxx. After I told her I literally saw the cashier hit the plastic barrier with the item she was still trying to justify why it was on clearance. Really? I asked for extra off because I still needed the item and got a measly dollar. Secondly, I get to my car I look at the printed receipt and notice I got charged twice for the same item, 1 charge being the new discounted price and the second charge being the original price from the other item they tried to offer with more dents. I walk back in and ask where I go to get it fixed, the girl (SECOND employee) at the front tells me I have to fall back in line. Uh no. I remind her (because I know she saw me) I literally walked out and I shouldn't have to fall in the LONG line to get their mistake fixed. She proceeded to tell me there weren't enough cashiers to cover the line, I ask for the manager. Not surprised she's just a greeter. The THIRD employee approaches me and says she can take care of me and looks at the receipt. She asks the first cashier who made the mistake about the issue and comes back and tells me the item numbers are all different therefore they didn't charge me twice. I remind her again, I only purchased 9 items and got charged for 10. I remind her again that they made a new sticker for the item and there was an alternate item she scanned. She still proceeded to tell me I wasn't charged. I offer to grab everything I purchased from my car just to prove to her I was charged. By the time I get back in she goes "oh I know what happened she scanned the other item but it usually has the same item number" NO SH#T SHERLOCK. No apology, no nothing. Long story short, just be mindful when you shop here because they have the worst customer service. read more

Popped in with a friend. Loved all the Christmas options. I needed a Christmas outfit to wear at the local animal shelter for a few upcoming events. We did a Christmas Donation Drive and also 2 days of photos with Santa. Thank you TJMax for having just what I needed. I didn't want to spend too much- visions of it being ruined at the shelter. My dress is going strong. I plan to use it again next season. As well as stock up on more holiday items. I also stocked up on doggy toys. Such a great assortment. I always check out the flavored coffees as well. My parents love all the different flavors I find. A great, yet inexpensive way to show I remembered them, and think of them. Parking has never been a problem. I like to go in the morning- less crowded than later in the day. read more

I love TJ Maxx, but who doesn't? I could get lost circling the store for hours in search of cosmetics, clothes and home goods that I desperately want but don't need. Recently, they have stepped up their game though. As a child, clothes came with a small toy or accessory. My adult self misses this small details almost as much as I miss justifying a McNugget Happy Meal. I was pleased to find that TJ Maxx is now offering additional items to go with a purchase! read more

Thank goodness there are other TJ Maxx locations nearby. This is from labor day September 4. The Filipina woman at cashier 3 mid day (name started with a P I think) was SO RUDE. I wasn't greeted, which was fine, but I said hello and she gave me the "look." I also had a question, she COMPLETELY IGNORED my question. I looked around and there was an older woman at Cashier #7, so I picked up my stuff and started walking, and the Finipina woman said wait come back. MOST UNPLEASANT INTERACTION EVER at this location since 2001, when I moved to the area. It was so unpleasant I also actually responded to the survey on the receipt. read more

Employees there are helpful and friendly. Usually a smile when you make eye contact. My only complaint might be the fitting room checker. When you show her your items you want to try, she just points at the rack without saying anything. If you hesitant because you're thinking what she wants you to do, she'll say "put it here" in a not so nice way. Otherwise, my rating would be a 5-star. read more

It's more often than not that I find something decent in here. It's best to come back every couple months once the inventory has had a chance to turnover. Great stop for women's clothes, kitchen stuff, housewares, toiletries, and jewelry/bags. Not so hot selection of men's clothes, sports gear, or kid's toys. If you're in the area, check out the Ross up on the corner of Clayton/YV, too. Usually if you can't find what you're looking for at this TJ's, you'll probably find it there. As I walked from my car at the very far end of the parking lot to the entrance, a man accosted me with crazy talk. I humored him until I could make my escape into a more public area. Poor guy. Once safely inside, I was greeted by a smiling face who offered me a cart. When I declined and opted for a basket, she then fetched a nice shoulder bag instead. (Although, after a bit of shopping I ended up going back up front for a cart). I'm not a big gift giver and I hate shopping for myself. So, that being said, I had fun walking around in here. I found a couple of clothing items for sister, brother-in-law, mom, and dad. There were a little bit pricier than I was looking for, but I liked the brands, the styles, and the quality. Even got some undies for my husband. Not the animal-style thongs that I like to see him in, just some regular well-fitting Puma briefs. Too bad they don't sell men's thongs. Who doesn't love to come home to an elephant or peacock-clad man cooking dinner?! Most importantly, the girl at the fitting room (though I tried nothing on) was extremely nice and helpful. Tall, slender, African American girl. I complimented her on her outfit and showed her a pair of tights I was thinking about getting for me. I told her I don't know what to wear them with (husband usually helps me dress because he's more stylist than I am) and she offered to come help me find something cute, but I had to run. I was out of shopping time and needed to make a quick exit. Medium speed check-out with a nice intercom service telling you which cashier was free. Out of there for less than $200, and now I'm done shopping. read more

Just a quick shout out to the TJ Maxx on Clayton Road. I shop there regularly and probably half the time find a good bargain -- or two. My most recent visit I found good values in both the shoe and luggage departments. In the past, I have felt that this TJ Maxx was not as clean as the stores in Pleasant Hill or Moraga. That was not the case during my visit on April 13. Merchandise was picked up -- not thrown all over the floor. The restroom was clean. And to cap it off, the clerks were friendly and helpful. Came here last night because of the "heck, why not" mentality. Great inventory, lots of merchandise including electronics, socks, jewelry and décor. Though it seems they're lacking on the men's section, they're making up for it with an overwhelming amount of clothing in the women's section. Good location and parking is almost never an issue. Oh, and I found this awesome Chips and Salsa costume for 2 but it's just too small for me to fit into. read more

Horrible customer service latrisha or lakisha didn't see her name tag to well because she was hiding it had us waiting in line for a good ten minutes while she played around with some hangers and complained about the phone ringing saying she "wasn't going to answer that" then finally decided she wanted to actually work and rang up one customer and went back to playing with the hangers and then took one more customer I don't understand why people decide to work in retail when they clearly don't have the customer service skills to work in retail I'm very disappointed in the lack of respect I received as a customer so if anyone plans on going to this TJ Maxx you have been warned as for me I will be taking my money somewhere else until Tjmaxx actually decides to hire people with a good work ethic. read more

Visits are normally cool even tho this store is definitely lacking compared to the newer store as far as product selection. Came in today to buy some glasses to use for crafts. This store is next to 99 cents store so I ran out to see if they had a cheaper option before purchasing from TJ Maxx. They didnt so I came back which is when the manager hopped on the ear piece and asked an associate to follow me. She comes to the aisle gets in my face and asked what I need help with? Ummm nothing. She runs off. 3 other people on the aisle I guess they dont need any help. Now there are associates all over the section where a moment ago it was just me and customers. I grabbed my cups paid and on my way out mentioned to the manager I know he called to have me followed, exiting and coming back to a store is common and be careful about having associates get in peoples face. He said had no clue what I was talking about he just didnt want me ignored by staff interesting and he would talk to the lady. Never asked who she was so if you didnt call her how you know who I'm talking about?. So you called an associate to follow me and get in my face so I wouldnt feel ignored... cool read more

If you want designer stuff but not pay the designer price this is the place to go! Granted there is a closer location next to me but I would pick this location over the one near me anytime. They have a variety of designers and all the prices are usually about half the price about what you normally would pay. I will be honest and say that I don't always walk out of the store with things but boy is the temptation is real. The employees here are really kind and for the most part the store is organized. They have a good variety of modern house items at a very good price as well. Overall a decent place to come to look and get ideas for decor or to get a good deal on those designer items that you have been eyeing. Their clearance items are also a pretty good as well! Not all TJ Maxx stores are the same. I tend to go to the TJ Maxx in Concord because it's like a little hidden gem. They almost always have great, new products from Free People, BCBG, Juicy Couture, Philosophy, Kate Spade and more! They have a great selection of clothing, purses, bath products and shoes. The real reason I come here is for their home decorations section. They have a great vareity of items from chairs, love seats, mirrors and shelving. I can always find something at this TJ Maxx. The location is a little scary at times but they are doing a lot of improvements in the store to make it look more presentable. The customer service is ok. Most of the reps act like they don't really want to there but they are friendly so that is a plus During Christmas, they have the BEST selection of gift wrapping items! This TJ Maxx is definitely one of the best. I really like how much stuff they have in home decor, decent prices as per usual with the Maxx stores. I live right by it....so I have turned into quite a "Maxxonista," as those cheesy commercials tell me. I love that I can get a lot of the same items I would normally go to Target or Kmart for, but I feel like there is more variety. The only thing I wish they did better was organize juniors clothing...but I understand things are coming in all the time. Great store. read more

The manager here is extremely rude. She should not be in a managerial position if she doesn't care about customers. I wanted to return an item and she didn't even try to help me, no hello or anything, she just scanned it and said we can't return it and walked away. I was so offended by her behavior. l love bargain shopping! This location is really big and has a lot of stuff to look at. I like T J Maxx because they carry a lot of designer brands... a lot more than Ross. I've only been to this location once so far, but compared to other TJ Maxx stores I've gone to, it's pretty organized and neat. I thought the selection was pretty good too. The dressing rooms had a mirror and a comfy seat inside, which was nice. The employees were friendly and the lines were efficient. Overall, I liked this location. read more

Diana was extremely helpful over the phone. She was willing to place me on hold and check for three different specific items that I was looking for. They ended up having one thing that I wanted and she was willing to place it on hold for me and go above and beyond and hold it for the specific time frame that I could get there. She was very professional over the phone and willing to jump through hoops just to assist me. It's so hard to find good customer service these days, she deserves major props!! read more

This TJ Maxx is my safe haven. Everyone there is SO nice and helpful, I am always excited to come and shop! While I was waiting in line today an older woman was (very rudely) asking one of the cashiers to bring more cashiers to ring people up. I'm not sure why, as she had only been waiting in line for about 4 seconds. The young woman who dealt with this unpleasant customer was exceedingly professional and handled the situation much better than I would have. She was wearing a green shirt with plants on it but I didn't ask her name, I wanted to apologize to her.
