The store is poorly managed. They are very diligent and rude to customers. They don't have the parking times posted. Don't know what time they're closing, and they turn off the elevator and make you walk around to get in your car even though they're standing there with the key because they're afraid people will come up the elevator. Ridiculous The prices are incorrectly marked on clearance items. It'll say $20 or it's actually four dollars. They don't put out all their products you have to ask them for things and then they go in the back and get it and hand it to you without a hanger or anything. This is the prettiest Anthro I've been in, with a full array of plants both for you to take home and pot, as well as potted arrangements. Of course they are way over priced, and you can get said plants cheaper at a nursery, but it's very tempting in store. They have a whole 2nd floor of furniture and home decor and a bridal section. I think they could stock more clothes and I didn't even see a sale section, so maybe I missed a floor or section? However, it's still a nice storefront and makes the shopping experience nice. read more

This Anthropology is 2 stories not as huge as the Stanford Shopping center one but it is in Walnut Creek Broadway Plaza in the best location- across from Apple Store and Crate N Barrel. The store is laid out very well service employees are plenty and the the amt of stock they have is abundant. Upstairs is a clearance little kinda walk in closet room for value low priced deals. Some dresses and clothing items can go for well over $200 here so it's not cheap. They have stairs and also a small elevator. Lines are never long. One of my favorite Anthros besides San Ramon and Palo Alto Stanford. The clothing and styles are outstanding. 100% girl and women store. I usually don't find it hard to find a parking spot at ROSS discount department store and just walk over here because this shopping district is really pedestrian friendly and safe for walking . I tend to only drop into Anthropologie during the holiday season as I absolutely adore their plant section Terrain for holiday gifts. Generally I don't purchase Anthropologie's clothing as in my experience the sizing is inaccurate. I'm a Medium and an XS was too big. The M fits like a XL, etc. So I only really come here for Terrain. I'd love it if it were it's own separate store as Anthropologie is scent heavy, which can be a bit overpowering but the cashier told me on my last visit that if you're only buying plant section items you can check out in front. I love Anthropologie. There is none in Reno so I made a point to stop here to use my birthday discount and a gift certificate that my daughter sent me. We were on our way to San Francisco but, sadly, the one near Union Square has closed so I was happy that this one was on our way. Everyone knows that Anthropologie is pricey. I tend to seek out the locations with the best/largest sale sections (hint: in NYC the best one is near the Rockefeller Center). I ended up finding a couple nice tops in the sale section, which happened to have an additional 40% off that day. And yes, this location has a pretty large sales section but I was surprised to find how unkempt it was. Many, many clothes were laying on the ground underneath the racks! I've been to many Anthropologie locations and this one was the messiest. I read the reviews about the poor customer service here but didn't find that with the gals working the fitting rooms. They were pretty helpful and kind. However, the checkout person was pretty rude and unfriendly (she tuned me out, didn't listen when I was explaining I had a gift certificate). read more

So first, they're late with my order. Then, the order is incomplete. I paid for gift wrap, nope, not there. But here's the real kicker: the security tag (yes, the one that sets off alarms) is still on the item. Brilliant! Now I get to spend my own money on gas and tolls just to drive back so they can do the one thing they were supposed to do in the first place. You have ONE JOB! And customer service? If you enjoy wasting 25 minutes listening to hold music while being passed around between robots and rude humans, you'll love it here. The bots are clueless (as bots tend to be), and the humans on the phone are just as rude as the ones in the store. Speaking of the store, hey lady, when a customer asks for help, don't turn your back and walk away. I'm sorry you hate your job or your life, but while you're on the clock, maybe pretend to care? Or go home. I will never order online or set foot in their WC store again. Not worth it. This is by far the nicest, prettiest Anthropologie I've ever been to. I love coming here! This location has a Terrain section, and the bridal section along with all the other things we love about Anthro.... This shopping center is very busy....very busy. Park in the big garage about a block away and/or come in the morning. There is also street parking. It's two stories of colors and textures and beautiful things to tempt you! On this visit the store was fully decked out for the holidays and it was magical. The staff here is friendly and helpful. They all seem very happy here. Checkout was long, because there was a huge line. I really appreciated that they had five people working registers to move us along. I like the quality and style of Anthropoligie clothing, I must go to this store every 4 months and drop an easy $600 - $1000. I am always amazed at how poorly sales people treat customers. I stopped today during lunch to pick some things up for trip. Sure enough as always, I was ignored despite the fact that they had plenty of employees some of which were yapping to each other. I am not sure if they are racist, snobby or what, but these are perhaps some of the THE most unfriendliest, fake and unmotivated sales people I have ever witnessed. Who is doing your hiring? Fire them now, they are ruining the business. With the exception of the lady that always works shoes and one African American lady with braids, they are all reprehensible in their attitude towards customers. There is even a Latina women today that couldn't even be bothered. She was just sooo rude and condescending which I felt was funny because sorry hun, none of those people think you are one of them. Get over yourself, look in the mirror, nopal. The other thing that makes me want to scream is the lack of care the cashier takes to fold clothes properly and just stuffs the bag. Today she put everything I bought in one bag, the clothes where exploding out of the bag. I asked her to put some clothes in the other bag and she acted like the I was putting her out. Last time they did the same thing and the bag broke halfway to my card. The thing that irks me is that if you shop at Anthro, you make way more money that anyone of those sales people, why are you acting like this with shoppers? My husband and I wanted to have a 10 year vow renewal ceremony last minute that our 7 and 9 year old can be a part of. We only had a few weeks to plan and the last detail and one of the most important that was missing was my wedding dress!! With 10 days left, Rauya was able to pull 2 dresses after I shared my vision and it was THE dress! Susie helped me shipped the dress to my home within 3 days and the alteration referral at Eclipse Alterations in Piedmont Oakland was able to tailor the dress within 3 days and I still have 4 days left to go! I was at Anthropologie WC today to pick up an online order. I have shopped online but have never been to the store. I read the prior reviews, but I actually had a very pleasant experience. All of the staff that I encountered were very friendly and seemed to be happy and helpful. The store was well organized and very clean. I know the prices are a little bit higher than typical retail clothing stores. But Anthropologie does have an amazing and unique selection comparatively. I wanted to commend employees at the Walnut Creek store for stepping up to help especially Maria, but many others helped too. My 11 year old daughter is going to be a flower girl and we've been struggling to find a dress that looked right on a girl her age (not too little girl but also not too adult). We saw an amazing dress in your wedding department and thought it may work. We set up an appointment to try it on with an associate so we could get more focused help. When we got to the store Maria was so nice and made my daughter feel so special. When my daughter went to change she noticed she had just gotten her period. Multiple employees stepped into action to track down a pad for her. They were all amazingly nice and didn't make it seem like a big deal. This was one of the best experiences I've ever had shopping and it could have easily been much worse. They were great. They also helped us with trying on the dress and figuring out options for altering the adult dress to fit her and make her look perfectly her age. read more

The selection and size of this Anthropologie is terrific, but the customer service, with a few notable exceptions, is tragic. Often when I come in here I feel like I'm back in high school with the security guards following me because they think I'm going to steal something. Really? I'm over fifty now, people, wear t-shirt and jeans when I shop. Sorry I didn't just get my hair done. . A few days ago here a clerk acted like it was a pain to help me, then she saw me later on and said, "Oh, are YOU still here?" Yeah, it was snarky. The snobbery is palpable, but I guess that shouldn't be surprising. Walnut Creek is snobby and yes I believe everyone here when they site the racism as well. So three stars for size of the store and selection (though how about more plus sizes? Because you don't like big women? Your attitude toward me suggests that sometimes). I will say that after the recent unpleasant time I went in again to pick up my order - it was the 40 percent off sale and it seemed like all the clerks (and the store was very well-staffed that day) had gotten an "act right" pep talk because they were cheerier and more helpful than in past. So hopefully that trend will continue. (PS - A story that puts Walnut Creek in perspective - a young woman was shopping here with her impeccable Mom. I tend to wear interesting homemade accessories and have an array of cool eyeglasses. The young woman stopped me and generously raved about my "look," then pointed me out to her Mom. [ RACIST CUSTOMER SERVICE ] If you are a minority, a female, or someone who speaks English with an accent, think twice before going to the store. I had a humiliating experience today with an Anthropologie's cashier ( cashier number 220420) when I went to the store to return some clothings. The cashier that I had was rude, snarky, and was repeatedly grieving me while two of her coworkers workers stood next to her doing nothing. It started when I was doing the return and was wondering if the store offers discount to school teachers (I am a school teacher and some clothing retailers offer school teacher discount). So, I asked the cashier: " Do you guys have discounts for school teachers?" To which the cashier asked me: "Do we have whAt?" with a sneering smirk. I repeated my question, to which she again just smirked and said "whaaat?" This went on for three times before I gave up and said forget it. Then the cashier said she need my first name to do return. I spelled my name out, and mind you, my name only has three letters, she again said "whaaaat?" with a passive aggressive, sarcastic tone. I repeated again and she kept saying "whaaaat?" with a ridiculing expression. I was upset and told her that she was rude and should not make fun of people's accent. She immediately went into a denial mood and became very defensive, questioning me for what I said. She even said:" I don't know which part makes you feel offended." Two of her co-workers next to her did not offer to help me and pretended nothing happened. This experience made me feel that I don't deserve to shop in the store and I am not worthy of having a voice. Also, it looks like my experience was not just an isolated incident. If you read the earlier reviews by other reviwers, you'll see reports of similar experiences, some of which were racially motivated. I hope my review can give the unsuspected a heads up. If you are not a native speaker, steer away from this store. If you need to shop at this store, be on your guard when dealing with the store staff. Be prepared so you don't get caught by surprises. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD - HIRE MORE PEOPLE FOR THE REGISTERS!! Anthro is great at customer service, so it's not uncommon that people need additional assistance at the registers. Today there was one person working the register, one person at a register folding towels or something important like that, but not able to ring people up. I'm waiting for the customer at the only open register to do a return, get another associate to find her a matching glass to the 3 she had, plus purchase a pile of other merchandise. Meanwhile the line behind me is getting longer. I had one small return - easy peasy - but waited in line for like 10 minutes. It is seriously ridiculous. And not uncommon. 7/21/24 My friend just came to this location to assist her sister with wedding dress shopping and she ended up getting racially profiled by one of the workers there. My friend is Black, her sister is half Black half White, and she has White stepmom. My friend was trying to look for her sister and stepmom in the store when the worker came up and said she can't be there without an appointment. When my friend's family came, the worker didn't apologize but instead ran away. We didn't get the name so I hate to write this for their whole team, but in this day and age when racism and discrimination is at an all time high, I think something needs to be done to ensure this doesn't happen again. I started visiting the store more again now that I am vaccinated during the pandemic. But boy I feel like the customer service has deteriorated badly. The cashier helping me was not friendly at all and 2 employees that were at one cash register acting like the where trying to solve the most difficult scientific problem lol. They were trying to solve an issue for several minutes. All the negative comments I tend to agree with such as racial profiling, taking too long to pick up a simple online order, lack of customer service or courtesy. Not sure why a good majority of the workers have chips on their shoulders. I do love the merchandise and plants but will do most of my shopping online from now on. The only thing I can think of is that there is a shortage of good employees and change in mgmt hence the bad service. Just speculating. read more

Finally, I was able to come back on this beautiful and fabulous shop. I'm always fascinated on the interior designs. When you're looking for gowns and dresses they have it as well. But my favorite of all, is the plants section. They have all sorts of rare and exotic plants. The price is a little high. But so glad, they have 20% off when I did my shopping yesterday. It's a large store. The plant zone in front is a nice touch. My daughter is a size 16, though, so there wasn't much here she could wear. That was disappointing. Also disappointing were the cheap plastic earrings that were 60 bucks on sale. Really? The home goods seemed like a much better deal than the jewelry (or clothes). I was pleased with the selection and the patterns- and they weren't very expensive. Given the disappointing nature of the size selection, in terms of the clothing, I probably won't be back, but if I did go back, it would only be for home goods. read more

Found my wedding dress here despite the best efforts of the woman "helping" me. She acted like my being there was a huge irritant to her. She kept pressuring me to stay in one corner of the shop for some reason. (Luckily my mom was roaming around and found the dress I ended up choosing.) She made passive aggressive comments about my weight and tried to dissuade me from trying on dresses (including one that she had already pulled for me????). One of the dresses I tried on was too small and when I asked her if they had a larger size in store, she grimaced at me and said "we do but now that you've seen it on yourself, do you think this would even be one that you'd choose?" She made comments about that for everything--it felt like having a mean girl from high school running the appointment. I'm not self conscious about my body and not sentimental about having this big moment of finding "the dress" but if you are, please don't go here because they will absolutely ruin it for you. I got to show my family 4 dresses total because despite insisting that she needed to zip me into everything, she kept vanishing to go talk to her coworkers. I don't know what this lady's problem was--I thought maybe just having a horrible day but I see others mentioning her specifically so apparently this is the norm for her. Yikes. Also if you're bigger than say a size 12-14 in dresses, I'd stay away from this place. They won't have any selection for you. read more
