Our experience at this location was extremely disappointing and frustrating from start to finish. The process -- from ordering lab-created gemstones to selection, availability, delivery timelines, and communication -- was consistently disorganized and below expectations. Initially, it took several weeks just to order a few stones for in-store viewing. At the last minute, our appointment was canceled due to delays, and a new appointment was scheduled without any regard for our availability. When we raised concerns, we were informed that stones could not be ordered without a scheduled appointment -- despite the fact that our original appointment was canceled by them and they had no idea when the stones were going to be available. Frustrated with the lack of coordination, we escalated the issue to corporate, and a regional manager eventually contacted us. We were hopeful this would lead to a smoother experience, but unfortunately, the issues persisted. After finally viewing the stones, we asked some very basic questions regarding sourcing and pricing discrepancies. We inquired why a lab-created stone of the same style, size, and shape -- already set in a necklace online -- was priced at $295, while the identical loose stone in-store was nearly four times the cost. The associate was unable to provide any explanation. She also had no knowledge of the stones' origin or manufacturing details. It has now been over a week since our visit, and despite her commitment to follow up with answers to our questions = NOTHING. Huge RED flag when a vendor cannot verify the source or quality of its lab-created gemstones, suggesting that quality control is unregulated--this is perhaps why there is such a discrepancy in pricing of the similar stones -- and noting that they are only the 3rd party sellers = even higher mark up. My fiancé and I had an absolutely terrible experience with Brilliant Earth. We chose BE because they sell conflict-free natural diamonds, have a beautiful store, and an easy-to-use website. Initially, the in-store customer service seemed great, but everything went downhill once payment went through-- and when they tried to set the diamond. I wanted an oval diamond set in one of their most popular settings, the Freesia 2mm Solitaire. When we picked it up, we immediately noticed the band was made incorrectly. It's supposed to elegantly taper toward the diamond (see photos), which it absolutely did not. Our sales associate at the Walnut Creek store, Danica, strongly advised us not to return the ring, claiming we could lose the diamond if it went back into circulation and someone else bought it before us. This was pure fearmongering. In hindsight, it doesn't even make sense--we could have returned and re-purchased the diamond immediately in store. Unfortunately, we trusted her advice and opted for a repair instead, as she assured us the ring would be remade correctly. That turned out to be a huge mistake. Brilliant Earth has a strict 30-day return policy (remember this), and they conveniently delayed the repair so it was completed after the return window closed. That would have been tolerable if the ring had been fixed--but it wasn't. The repaired ring looked almost exactly the same. How that's possible, I truly don't know. This is supposedly their most popular setting, yet it looked nothing like the photos on their website. By then, we were outside the return window, so our only option was a third repair. Somehow, it came back wrong again. The third version finally had the correct band, but now the diamond was set extremely high. I specifically chose the Freesia because it was marketed as "low profile" since I'm very active, but this ring would snag on everything. At this point, over three months had passed since ordering. We later learned Brilliant Earth uses outside jewelers for setting, which explains the total lack of quality control. They suggested resetting it a fourth time, but by then we understandably wanted a full refund. We spoke with the store manager, Rachel, who was extremely incompetent, then escalated to a regional manager, Jillian, who was the first genuinely kind person we dealt with. Despite her sympathy, she repeatedly stated we were "outside the 30-day return window," even though BE had possession of the ring the entire time. I spoke to someone above her - she robotically said the same thing. I ended the call by saying I was not satisfied and would fight it. Miraculously, the next day they called and approved a full refund--likely because the fourth attempt was also set incorrectly. This experience completely ruined what should have been a joyful engagement process. My partner had to change proposal plans due to the three-month delay, and we were constantly stressed about the ring being wrong. My advice: go with literally any other jeweler. We switched to a professional independent jeweler in San Francisco's diamond district and had a 1000x better experience--better diamond, perfect setting, and it was cheaper in the end. Hello, Brilliant Earth in Walnut Creek was spectacular. Going into our first schedule appointment I had no clue as to rings, let alone the details/variations of diamonds. Yaya was amazing and took the time to get to know myself, my girlfriend and our styles. She allowed us to try rings on, look at different diamond shapes and educate us. She fostered an environment of ease and took what was a stressful situation and made it one of enjoyment/fun/excitement. We left with knowledge and enthusiasm for the future. She provided us with a summary of our first visit and details of everything we liked from band, diamond, size, etc... which made it easy for me to compare different engagement ring through true website. It felt like I was inconveniencing this associate just by asking to see some bands? She asked me a few questions to set up the appointment. As I began answering one of her questions she completely cut me off to say that she might have to go help a couple that just walked in the door. Then she said never mind... very strange and so very rude. She also scheduled our appointment for a week sooner than we all decided on, which was strange because she specifically asked us to schedule two weeks out so that they could get the stones and bands in for us to look at in person. Very sloppy, very unprofessional, and I straight up kept thinking that the associate was likely high on drugs because of her behavior. Disappointing bc this process is already painful for me personally and brilliant earth had decent reviews, which was why I was initially interested in purchasing from them. Response to the business manager: Maybe the reason you don't see my name in your records (I have a saved wishlist i made in store and online) is because after 15 mins or so of me picking out rings that I wanted to see based off of what I liked online (a very awkward experience as I described), your employee decided to disregard me and ask my bf for all of his information and if he wanted to share the budget with me or ring with me. DO NOT BUY FROM BRILLIANT EARTH! You have been warned. I initially purchased a white gold tennis bracelet, but ended up exchanging it a few days later for a yellow gold version. The clasp opened on its own and fell off 3 times within a week of my wife wearing it. We decided the bracelet quality was too poor and didn't want to risk it falling off and getting lost, so we decided to return the bracelet since we were well within the 30 day window. Well, if you read the fine print of their return policy, as soon as you make an exchange you void your entire eligibility for returning the item. I was not told this at any point during this process, which was done entirely in person. I wish I had researched this company more before making a purchase... there are plenty of terrible reviews all over the internet about their poor quality and scammy customer service. I will never buy anything from them again, and hopefully I can stop someone else from making the same mistake. The customer service person was named Lauren and she helped us find wedding bands. We liked and also offered us delicious chocolates and water. The store is right next to the Boudin Bakery in downtown Walnut Creek but inside it shimmers with the light bouncing off the diamonds in the display case, the customer service was great. Me and a close girlfriend walked into an appointment. Mary was our associate. We made it incredibly clear we wanted to come in and get our baseline - try on styles and find cuts we preferred. We both wanted to see what kind of rings and settings/cuts looked good on us, it would've been a cute girls shopping trip. We didn't get to try things on during the hour appointment we had booked. I made it incredibly clear we both wanted to experience this... she would get finicky if we passed one ring to the other, or let one person pick out something from the case. The case also lacked all the types of cuts, it would've just been better to go to the main storefront and ask a regular associate for help. It was incredibly salesy - very much felt like a commission based meeting. Saleswoman also was not accommodating to us, was pretty brash, and genuinely didn't try to understand we were both there to try rings on and get a feel of what we would want. Don't think she was able to read any of our body language that we just needed her to stop talking and selling us on something and give us both a second to look. Kept trying to dissuade us from things we liked, felt like she was quizzing us, and everytime we mentioned something - it felt like she had a rebuttal. Felt like she was talking down to us the entire time. Was genuinely exhausting to sit through an hour with her, totally wasted my time. Won't be coming back. TL/DR: Zero stars. Skip brilliant earth. This place sucks. Full review (worth reading): My parents were searching for some very special pieces of jewelry to commemorate a very special anniversary. We called in advance to make sure we didn't need an appointment. The gentleman on the phone confirmed that we did not need an appointment for this location, and could just walk in. we drove 40 minutes to get there. The store is garish, extremely bright, and there is cheesy wedding music playing. Upon our arrival, the snotty woman behind the counter informed us that we couldn't look at any pieces without... Wait for it... An appointment. (Note that the store was completely empty and she was not helping any other customers.) we explained that we had explicitly been told there was no appointment needed. She went to "ask her manager" and finally, with some absurd drama, permitted us into the back room. For all that hassle, we were expecting a great variety and some stunning pieces. Instead we were met with a wimpy, disappointing display case. We'd seen much better in other local stores with significantly less hassle. And then, the grand finale: in walked some dude with a computer who told us that we weren't permitted to view any pieces of jewelry unless he collected our personal information: our names, address, phone number, email. How invasive! How inappropriate! Clearly other people have succumbed to this ridiculous marketing tactic, which is a shame. We explained that we don't provide that kind of information to random strangers (you shouldn't, either). He replied that we would not be permitted to see any of the jewelry unless we did. I explained that we would be leaving and not spending any money at the store if looking at a ring required divulging private information, and he just shrugged. So we left. We went to Tiffany's down the street, got exactly what we were looking for, and were in and out in 15 minutes. All we needed to give them was our credit card. Please please please do not give random stores like brilliant earth your private, personal information just because they demand it!! There are a dozen other better jewelry stores in the neighborhood with better quality pieces that do NOT require you to give them your phone number in order to try on a ring. This place isn't special and isn't worth it. My boyfriend booked a seating over the phone, which was assumed to be a 15 min. service appointment. When we arrived I was irate to discover that we would not be seated for a once in a lifetime experience, and that we were instead encouraged to browse the counter selection of cubic zirconia options. Though the associate who greeted us attempted to be accommodating, her manager ultimately decided we couldn't be seated for an engagement appointment, despite their own internal discrepancies in the facilitation of the viewing. Overall this was an incredibly disappointing experience. If you're looking for an engagement memory that you'll remember fondly, I suggest looking elsewhere. I had a very disappointing and unprofessional experience with 2 different locations. I went to an appointment at the San Francisco location. They didnt have any of the wedding bands available that I wanted to see. Instead of trying to help me, or suggest alternatives, I was told to go home, make another appointment and to send in a list of what I wanted to see. I decided to go to a different location. I called and made an appointment at the Walnut Creek store. I explained the situation and the spent a good deal of time looking up the rings, their names and their numbers. I called back with this information and made sure my appointment was far enough in advance for them to get the rings. The day before the appointment, I called to confirm. They had no record of my name, appointment or my requests. I canceled. When I went into Cartier and Graff, I was treated like a valued customer. At Brilliant Earth, they had no interest whatsoever in selling me anything. I'm looking forward to my Graff choice. A little more expensive, but worth it. We got married on 10/21 and she wore the band for an entire two days before the side stone fell off and went missing. We contacted customer service for a return on 10/23 and was told it was accepted. Called back two days later since we did not receive our return labels and was told it was rejected. She wore her band for an entire two days before the side stone fell off. We were told our 30 day return window ended on 10/22. An entire 12 hours outside of the window. Now were stuck with this ring we no longer want. Its officially a ring we look at with hate. I began my search for an engagement ring a few weeks ago, and did not have a great idea of what I was looking for. Thankfully, I easily setup an appointment online and met with Trang who was an absolute delight! Trang was extremely knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire process. Initially she informed me of the 4 C's and helped narrow down my search for both a diamond and setting. Additionally, she was aware that I was not going to purchase anything on my initial day of the search and still offered unconditional support, something that I did not get when visiting other jewelers! Over the next few weeks I visited multiple jewelers and did not find anything that compared to the setting that caught my eye at Brilliant Earth. I ended visiting the Walnut Creek location two additional times, and was still having trouble picking out a center stone. Trang was so kind and brought out multiple diamonds each time of varying carrot weights, cut, clarity, etc. This was extremely helpful and really helped me prioritize the aspects that appealed to me in a diamond. Ultimately, on my last visit Trang brought out such a stunning diamond that I knew was perfect for me (and under my budget!). I am so excited to pickup up this ring and know that it is going to be such a beautiful piece. Overall, Brilliant Earth had exceptional customer service that was extremely professional, adaptable, and personable! Would highly recommend checking out this location to see what they have to offer.
