Very disappointing experience at Macy's last night. I walked past Sunglass Hut and Pandora Jewelry, and in both locations the employees were on their phones the entire time. The associate at Sunglass Hut never once looked up or asked if I needed help, despite customers passing by. The same exact situation happened at Pandora Jewelry--no greeting, no assistance, just phone use. This behavior is extremely unprofessional and reflects poorly on Macy's as a whole. Customer service should be a priority, especially in retail. If employees are more focused on their phones than customers, it sends the message that business isn't valued. Macy's should address this immediately, as it does not match the standard expected from a well-known department store. read more

I would like to give kudos to Mary Anne (I hope that's how you spell her name) in the Jewelry Department. I visited Macy's a couple of weeks ago, and she assisted us with our purchase. She was very kind, pleasant, and helpful. This past Saturday, I returned again with my daughters to shop the sales. I initially asked another associate a question and received a rude response, so we continued walking, as I did not want that interaction to affect our day. Shortly after, an associate approached us to offer assistance--it was Mary Anne. She went above and beyond to help us with our purchases, demonstrating outstanding professionalism and courtesy. I tried to return a $360 Seiko watch to Macy's one week after receiving it from an online order and was told the return could not be processed because the tag was no longer attached to the watch, even though the tag was still in the box. I was told this falls under their fine jewelry return policy, which feels excessive for a low-range Seiko watch. To be clear, the watch was not used -- the bracelet was too large, and I had not yet purchased the tools needed to size it, so it was never worn. The employees were apologetic, but clearly had no discretion. My issue is with the policy, not the staff. This "tag must remain attached" requirement is not clearly documented on Macy's website, especially for online purchases. After contacting customer support, I was told I could ship the watch back for a refund, making the in-store refusal pointless and frustrating.just causing a big waste of time. This kind of rigid, policy-driven experience is exactly why shoppers are moving away from Macy's. They also have a Starbucks here, but under construction today. Atmosphere - Good large location. Good areas for us men to sit while waiting. Several waiting places, one in the main area, and smaller ones near the dressing rooms. Thank you. Service - Good. Price - $900, expensive evening dresses. The personalized shopper was the best way to buy an item that needed eyes on to be sure I'd get the product without any damage. I purchased a suede handbag and wanted it to be delivered in the manufacturers packaging. New and not to have been handled within the store by many customers. The personalized shopper reached out to stores that had 5 or more of the item so that I would get one not handled and in original packaging. Have not received it yet but the store personalized shopper called me within 24 hours of my request. Sent a text with the photo of my product in original packaging, and had it sent to me that day. Today was different because I needed a formal sports jacket and pant combination and realized that I couldn't rely on --- well me for what sizes I needed. Macy's Walnut Creek was the best option from Oakland because of the relatively easy drive and amount of inexpensive parking available. When I walked in the store I met Nadia who while she was obviously working on multiple previous sales took the time to ask me how she could help. Nadia ushered me through a couple of options I might consider and went out of her way to find the correct size jacket and pant. She offered me a few price points as options that I appreciated. Nadia made the whole process easy and stress free. She listened to me and found me a sweet jacket and pant combination that were exactly what I wanted. I phoned the shoe department and spoke to staff behind the counter while they were 10 feet away. they were talking amongst themselves. The lady came over still holding the phone and called a manager. This is my review on this establishment. I blame the Macy's management for lack of training their staff. They hire unskilled people and drop them at the cash register. Macy's released a digital version of their credit card almost 2 yrs ago. Since then I have been using it in many Macy's stores. Last week I wanted to purchase a pair of pants at the Macy's Walnut Creek. Naheed, the cashier, insisted to provide a photo ID. I told her that I have been using the digital version for very long time for the reason not to carry my wallet. I showed her all my credit cards on my phone. I spoke to her manager, who didn't have any clue what was going on. He even didn't know there was a digital Macy's card. I decided not to purchase the item and left the store. I'll never return to that store again. I'm sure if I looked blond and blue, Naheed, would have not asked for a photo ID. read more

Woman manager in mens, possibly middle eastern. Was very rude and belittling. I was trying to make a return and was understanding to the return being declined. I requested to speak to the manager and let her know what was communicated to me the prior day regarding my return just to update her on the communication. Instead of receiving the feedback she was challenging and rude. I simply thanked her and left. I can understand that you may not get the kindest customers, etc. However not all customers are rude. The woman came off with a combative demeanor. Already not wanting to help. Im a big believer if you are not happy with your job then quit. I never come here by myself but my wife drags me here now and then and honestly this is not a bad store. It's not as expensive as you think for a lot of stuff and their ties selection is great. Also good dress shoes. If you're looking for an off the rack suit, they do have some good stuff here. They also have a Starbucks in the store which you don't see a lot. I've been coming to this Macy's for many years now and I really love the renovations that have taken place over the last few years. For the most part, the store seems to always be clean and organized. I have a Macy's Card and they always seem to have great promotions going on when I use it. My favorite departments are their shoe, fragrance, and makeup sections. I've found so many great deals on shoes here! I love when the winter season comes around because they always have killer boot and coats on sale. The ladies in their fragrance and makeup department are always so kind and helpful. They also have really beautiful jewelry in their jewelry department. I always get compliments on the jewelry that I've purchased from this Macy's. Another reason why I like this Macy's is because the parking is ample. I always struggle to find parking at the Sunvalley Mall location, but I never have that problem here. Parking is free for the first 3 hours if you park in the garage. The online order pickup and return service is really easy and convenient. Even with deals Macy's ain't always the cheapest, but they carry good quality items that last for a really long time. Have not shopped Macys in a long time but I wanted to get a cashmere sweater for my daughter and I know Macys has great sales between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I went online and ordered a sweater. After a week I decided to check on my sweater so I called the customer service number. After a long time of trying to find where my order was I was told it was cancelled. It was ten days before Christmas and now I had to rush out and find something for my daughter! Five days before Christmas I received a text my order was in. She was so upset she was almost crying. She said she hates how loud it is. She said she and other employees had repeatedly asked the management to turn it down, but they are ignored.
