Not the place to come if you want generic gym or track garb, but rather athleisure and casual chic. Brands like Birks, Miz Mooz, Adidas, Vans, and a multitude of comfort-forward, cool shoes, sandals, slides, sneakers, and clogs. I brought up that a button had come off a pair of shorts, and the initial response made it seem like it was not their problem to fix it. After I was taken aback and complained, they offered a 10% discount. Then I asked if they could contact their Lafayette store to check whether they had a skirt I liked in a smaller size, and it felt like even that was too much trouble. I also spoke with the assistant manager about the service, but I can't say her attitude was much better. What made it even more frustrating was that this happened on a Saturday afternoon, and the store was practically empty. You would think they would want to take the time to help loyal customers. To be fair, I have shopped at McCaulou's many, many times, and this was the first time I had such a negative experience. Still, it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth and made me reconsider spending my money there. In this economy, with so many shopping options nearby in Walnut Creek, customer service matters. McCaulou's of Danville, please do better.

It was definitely frustrating, but Abraham took my concerns seriously from the beginning. He personally reached out, apologized, offered to restring my racquet free of charge, and even provided a gift card for the inconvenience. What impressed me the most was that he didn't just fix my racquet--he worked to improve the process. When I picked it up today, I noticed they now attach a label showing the string type, tension, date, and stringer. That tells me they're focused on preventing mistakes in the future, not just fixing one complaint. Every business can make mistakes, but not every manager takes ownership the way Abraham did. His professionalism, communication, and commitment to improving the customer experience earned my trust back. Thank you, Abraham, and the Sports Basement team. I'll definitely be back for future stringing and would recommend them to other tennis players.

This location carried the '25 Brooks for men, but was a bit behind for the women's section and seemed to only carry the '24 and before. The new '25's/'26's have a bit of a futuristic large white heel so they're easy to spot. While the service was rather neutral as the associates were busy, the prices were comparable with what's online for both the shoes and feetures socks, so I could absolutely see myself stopping in when I need something immediately. All in all, I would absolutely come back.
