I told her that they didn't have the size on the shelf I was looking for and she gave me the excuse, "if it's not on the shelf then we don't have it." She ended up walking with me to the section to see if she could order it online for me but ended up realizing that her system shows they do have the size in stock so she told me she would check (on her own free will) which I did appreciate. After 15 minutes of waiting, we noticed she was just going around the store doing other things like chatting with coworkers and opening/closing other boxes of shoes for fun so we realized she was literally just ignoring us. We decided to pay for the other shoes I had and I told the girl Jennifer at the register about the bad experience and how Sofia never came back to give us an update but Jennifer also didn't seem to care. I truly wouldn't have cared if they had them or not, the issue that really bothered me was Sofia didn't communicate effectively and left us waiting there for 15 minutes after she was clearly dilly dallying. All in all, gen z workers here who have no customer service or communication skills. I wouldn't recommend going if you need help bc they'll just give you a blank stare and offer no help/solutions on top of ignoring you.

We didn't want to add so many rhinestones and told her the same. She then said it's closing time and we could come back another day and start over. It's the attitude of the employee that bothered me the most. She knew about the yellow patches (probably why it took her so long to iron the patches on) and instead of fixing the issue, handed us the shirt anyways. We spent so long decorating it before noticing the yellow patches and when we pointed it out, instead of being surprised or apologetic, she had a solution all ready for us. I did not want to buy a ruined shirt and pay full price for it, so I left it there. My child though, young and not always logical, was inconsolable as all her other friends had their shirts.

I brought up that a button had come off a pair of shorts, and the initial response made it seem like it was not their problem to fix it. After I was taken aback and complained, they offered a 10% discount. Then I asked if they could contact their Lafayette store to check whether they had a skirt I liked in a smaller size, and it felt like even that was too much trouble. I also spoke with the assistant manager about the service, but I can't say her attitude was much better. What made it even more frustrating was that this happened on a Saturday afternoon, and the store was practically empty. You would think they would want to take the time to help loyal customers. To be fair, I have shopped at McCaulou's many, many times, and this was the first time I had such a negative experience. Still, it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth and made me reconsider spending my money there. In this economy, with so many shopping options nearby in Walnut Creek, customer service matters.
