I gave this place three stars because the food was over hypes but at the same time the chicken I ordered wasn't eaten until a few hours later. It's says Mexican rotisserie chicken so I was expecting some Mexican spice but it wasn't anything special. I guess it's just rotisserie chicken made by Mexicans. They so have a small salsa bar though. $12 bucks for a dark/ light mix of 8 pieces was okay but it just tasted like regular rotisserie chicken. Could've gotten the same thing at Costco for half the price. I'll give this place another try and have it fresh next time. Love the rotisseree chicken here! It's super flavorful, juicy and inexpensive. They don't have a complicated menu either. We normally get the combo meals or family dinners. I came here because of all the positive reviews on this place. It was okay, nothing spectacular. I've been here twice, the first time I just got the tacos, and what really could I say bad about something that costs under $1. They're obviously not the greatest, but they're not terrible either. Being as small as they are I could barely taste the chicken in them, so I wasn't able to really comment on that. When I told a friend that I wasn't fan, he told me to go back and get a chicken burrito. And, I admit this was pretty good. This is a spot that I've gone to since I was a child and when it was still called Chicken Spit. I've grown to love their buy 2 whole chickens, get the 3rd free because I've eaten it at many a family party. They're a lot of good things to eat at this establishment but the classics are the chicken tacos, chicken burritos, taco salad, and rotisserie chicken meals. I must say that this chicken is always better fresh and hot, it doesn't get better the next day like chicken from other places. The place has pretty much kept the same upkeep which is a little rundown but relatively clean, which is perfectly fine. The service is great as all the staff is friendly and helpful with you order and the menu is very easy to understand. They even had a drive-thru which is a good reflection of their growing success throughout the years. The value is still good but since they've grown in success, so have the prices, which isn't to my liking. The chicken tacos used to be buy one at $1.25 get one free, but now that price has gone to about $1.95 I believe. Again, you're still getting good value, but I never like price hikes in food. This is a place I'll keep coming back again and again. It has been years since I've last been to Chicken Express. It is like an El Pollo Loco, but locally owned. I got the two for one chicken tacos and took half of my mom's chicken burrito. Honestly, I think it's just an advertising ploy for those two for one tacos because it really just came up to be about $1.50 a taco, which is a reasonable price. However, it was really good. I haven't had a good crispy taco in a while. The chicken was soft and tender. The taste had a fresh feel to it. That hot sauce just amplified the flavors in my opinion. Now, that chicken burrito...man, that was good. The rice had a hint of lime in it. Everything in the burrito was a symphony of flavor. It reminds me of a chicken burrito from Chipotle. The big difference being it's a tad cheaper, and Chicken Express most likely does not use organic foods. On the other hand, who cares?! It is definitely a hole in the wall type place. This was one of my favorite places for lunch when I was working. It was several blocks down the road from my office and you could get two--or four--small tacos very inexpensively. It was less than $2 for 2 tacos and they were fresh, good and greaseless. I think the last burrito I ever ate was here. It was so huge I had no appetite for dinner and I decided then that burritos were just too big. I don't even think I finished it. I bought rotisserie chicken home once and it was OK. Not fabulous. I've eaten their chicken many times over the years and it has usually been good, until recently. Somehow, they've discovered a new breed of bird that's slightly larger than a marshmallow Easter peep! These scrawny creatures have legs the size of pencils, thighs the size of a tea bag and, after being way over-cooked, feels like you're chewing on a piece of jerky from the paleolithic era!
