The only complaint I can think of is the restaurant itself which looks a little shabby. But it's been around for a long time and really that kind of thing doesn't bother me. The real star here is the chicken. Wonderfully moist on the inside and absolutely magical on the outside. There is something about that chicken skin that is so flavorful that if it were up to me I would eat only the skin. Their other items are pretty good. The tacos and burritos are a good proportion. It was my fault. I usually just stick with tacos but I went in and saw the mash postatoes and gravy and made a risk to try. It was nasty and tasted like it came from a box. The gravy was gross too. I usually go to the Suisun location and have always had a good experience but this location was horrible. My coworker ran and grabbed us all white meat chicken sandwiches (they charge extra for white meat) and I once I started eating, I immediately noticed the chicken was not white meat and did not look right. I stopped eating and investigated further and I saw this fully intact BUG in my food!! I was disgusted and showed my coworker, who was horrified because she ate hers already. I call the store and tell them we would like a refund because we found a bug in our food. The person who answered the phone did not seem shocked at all and said just bring the food and they will give the refund. I told her my coworker already ate hers, not knowing, but needs a refund as well. She said that would be fine. Once she arrives back they did not seem shocked about the bug but was giving her a hard time about the full refund. There was all sort of bugs flying around and the place looked unsanitary. Got a Super Burrito with no beans, which meant I ordered a burrito with a lot of chicken, rice, cheese (I think), salsa, and sour cream. Yummy! Huge burrito for $6. Comes with packets of taco sauce... have your tapatio or cholula on hand. Brother in law ordered the 69 cent tacos, which he said were very small but good- he wanted to go back right away. I have to say, I am surprised by how many businesses we went to that make tacos in the style of taco bell (ice berg, cheddar). I am not a fan. Where the heck is the lime cotija, and cilantro?? Maybe I went to the wrong spots. Anyway, I'll forgive the tacos because the burrito was awesome. Also ordered cupcakes for the fam since there were so many good reviews on yelp. Ordered the chocolate delight and red velvet. Fyi... you have to order the cupcakes in pairs, and you cannot mix and match. The 12 piece chicken meal feeds my family and leaves some leftovers for the next day. Chicken tacos and burritos are great options when you're on the go. The taco salad is as massive as it is tasty. The sides and condiment selection are wonderful. Spanish rice, beans, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, warm tortillas and fresh salsas are all worthy of space on your plate. The interior is small, and yes, you might wait a few minutes for your food (GASP). Don't let this dissuade you. This is for the older gentlemen working the drive thru window September 1 2019. As long as me and my family been coming here since the early 90 ,for family gatherings,potlucks,let's just say it's been a part of us for decades we never been charged salsa for our chicken orders. Being that our order is always over $60 the ladies that were always working the window gives us large amounts or even put in a container. This man charged us for salsa but had it on our receipt as a side order for four dollars and some change twice .When we got home we were missing the carrot cake that he said was in the bag. We didn't notice the extra charges until we called and told them they forgot our carrot cake and the young man mention just bring in receipt and that's when we noticed the charges . He charged almost $10 dollars for sides which was really salsa and only gave us one container. And he forgot our carrot cake that he rushed to gives us saying everything was in there. Sir after waiting patiently for close to ten minutes the least you can do was give us our salsa because I could of easily came in and did it, but because I had my 3 year twins in the car drive thru was our best option. The burrito here is pretty massive, and pretty tasty. I enjoyed the rice and chicken the most, although there could be a little more chicken in there. Great drive thru choice. I've been coming here for years and have come to appreciate the convenience of picking up a hot meal on the run. The family pack includes a whole chicken, with 2 sides and bread or tortillas. The garlic bread is disappointing but to be expected from a Mexican style chicken spot, its always hard and dry. The sides I love and not Mexican are the cole slaw and the mashed potatoes with gravy, very good. I ordered 20 chickens from here for my son's baptism and really liked their price and convenience, they give it to you in serving trays all cut up and warm. They also only require a 24 hr notice compared to El Pollo Loco's 3 day notice and higher price. My family really liked the chicken. Only negative are the tacos, I had not ordered them in ages and today was shocked that the are so small. Good idea to go on Wednesdays when they are only $.69 cents. read more

Great burritos, wonderful, flavorful, and juicy chicken. However more often then not because they do chop up the chicken on site from the rotisserie you do get bits of bone which aren't the greatest to chew into. If there was one thing I would have to change it would be their burrito wrap itself I can't help but after going to a place like baldos, or any family style Mexican restaurant that chicken express' wrap is a bit doughy and bland tasting. read more

Vallejo is like a diaspora of... a bunch of fast food joints. You won't find too many healthy places around these parts. However, when ever I have a chicken fix and I want something kinda sorta healthy, I hit up chicken express. Rotisserie chicken. Some really good roast chicken and hey, it's not fried. Genius! The chicken here is flavorful and juicy. It can pretty much stand on it's own... but it's even better when paired with the green and regular salsas, mmm mmmm (might even be good with the gravy they have here for the mashed potatoes, buuuut i'm kinda sorta dieting, so I won't chance it to find out). I often find myself ordering a 2 piece meal with 2 corns halves (technically, 1 whole corn), corn tortillas (I stray away from the flour stuff), and a whole bunch of that great salsa. They give you two generously sized pieces as well. If you're feeling mighty carnivorous, go for the 4 piece! That's like... half a chicken! Also, they have the 69 taco deal going here. It used to be just wednesdays, but if you go inside you will find out that the deal is now EVERYDAY! Though for those on the path of health, I wouldn't recommend having tacos everyday... you know, those shells are fried... I can't imagine that your heart would stand a chance for long if you go on a taco binge. But I digress. If you're low on funds, you can get some tacos here on the cheap. Small dining area, especially at lunch time, but the food tastes equally as good when eaten in the comfort of one's own home. Would be nice if they offered some chicken soft tacos, but that is not a bad thing. Good, affordable, healthy-ish grub in Vallejo. You will not find many places like it around here. If Bud's is the burger mecca of Vallejo, then this place is definitely the go-to place for chicken here. read more

Been going there for years but I was very disappointed tonite ordered other food but only 5 tacos they were put in a container two didn't have hardly any cheese on them and the rest were empty even taco one'll tacos are better those one I don't know if I'll go back again . Really convenient, it has a drive thru and it is open pretty late. Come here for the whole chickens, chicken taco salad and the chicken tacos. All of excellent quality- and the beans and rice are actually good! My family and i have been coming here for a few years now and the tacos were only on sale on wednesdays but NOW its EVERYDAY. i have to say though the chicken can be a lot on the DRY side, but with SALSA VERDE (must try) you could barely tell the chicken is dry.
