Why did the chicken cross the road? To get in my belly! :-) We try out restaurants often, but there are only few we revisit. This has become a weekly trip. It's not just the food, which is consistently awesome, but the staff as well. Last week, my wife went alone and the manager came out to make sure she had what she needed. We're going again this weekend. The food we've tried so far: Chicken (surprise) Catfish Chicken strips Mashed Potatoes & Gravy Hush puppies Okra Rolls Gravy Livers Amend that last paragraph. After listing all this, we're going within the hour! They aren't as fast as some other drive-throughs, but the orders have always been correct and delicious. I would ordinarily dock 1 for speed, but quality and customer service is too high for 4/5. Given the attitude of management, I'd expect any deficiency would be corrected. I had a 20 minute wait..... But.... I went in to get a refund when I got sick of waiting and the owner greeted me, apologized profusely and offered to give me not only the food but 20 dollars back, off my 30 dollar meals.... and he pulled out a 20 dollar bill and handed it to me.... which I declined. He gave me what I ordered and I didn't feel getting 2/3 of my money back was fair.... I very much appreciated the effort though. The man really made it apparent that he cared.... so no harm, no foul.... But I got in the car and took a bite of this chicken and it was fantastic! The food was delicious. I must correct a review I wrote up previously. I clicked on write a review and I thought I was on the location I had visited. As it turned out I found out I wasn't when I called to leave the owner a message, as he was so kind to email me about my concern. I said the fish was too salty. I haven't eaten at the this location. Although when I called the location I had eaten at, the manager there was very nice and so appreciative of me calling with my complaint. She explained how this can sometimes happened and would take care of it. From dealing with 2 of the Chicken Express locations I can say the owners/managers really care about the quality of the product they serve and their customers concerns! Seriously the most surprising discovery ever ! this place is crazy good! From the outside it looks like really low end fast food chicken it almost looks like a golden chick or something but seriously this place is amazing. first of all their fried chicken and the chicken tenders are really juicy and even better spicy is awesome. I frequent tge store on Palm Valley in Round Rock, TX and have noticed on my last couple of visits that tge cooks are not wearing masks and tge staff fixing food are very careless with touching their masks when preparing food, fixing food without gloves and other practices I think are careless during this time of COVID19. We love this place! They must change their oil often as we've never had 'anything' other than fresh, golden and crunchy! When we order the fries (usually the family order) they don't drop them till you order them so they are always fresh and Hot! It is family owned and extremely clean with a very friendly staff. I travel a lot for work and have stopped at many Chicken Express locations around central TX and none of them have been as good as this one! And, as a northern (MI) transplant, I've not fully embraced southern sweet tea, but I'm TOTALLY hooked on their 1/2 and 1/2 tea! Chicken express in jacksonville tx is the worst. Waiter asked 3 times if I wanted Cole slaw 3 times told her no French fries. Got the recipte and your right cole slaw was on it guess they don't care what you want they'll give you what they want you to have. Coke was like water, told them about and they didn't care. Then the cream gravy or should I say cream water so watered down couldn't taste grave at all. Did finally got French fries, cold old and nasty. Told them wanted biscuit got roll. Only ordered 3 piece chicken and gizzards, not a hard order. Throw coke french fries and gravy away, so much for our meal. When got the bag the 6 gizzards was on the bottom box crushed by the 3 piece chicken. Dont even waste your money. Then we get to the people that work there, could care less that they messed ty he order up. I saw 4 workers went thur drive thur, then inside to try and get order corrected they looked at me at the register turned their heads and kept gossiping, when they looked again I waved the receipt they just kept on ignoring me. A big shout-out to Dwayne and his staff for their professional service and generosity! I went thru the drive-thru line tonight, noticed it was busy - but it was 6pm, what else would I expect? I paid for my order and the cashier told me it would be a few minutes to complete my order as they had large orders come through ahead of me. So I parked in a shady spot and waited for my order. The owner, Dwayne, came out to apologize to me for the wait, and offered me a cold drink, to which I happily accepted on this warm night. And when my order came to my car, he had added extra tenders, and sides, and a jug of tea! I was floored! Completely above and beyond! And I was able to share our meal with our neighbors! We have frequented Chicken Express over the years (and enjoyed it at Vandegrift Football games) and we will continue to do so! read more

Love the food at chicken express and usually its great service as well. Had an employee take my order today that obviously didn't want to be there. Was very short with me and seemed very impatient. When I asked for the hot wings I was told they would take 20 minutes to cook instead of the 7 minutes it usually takes. Meaning the employee quite simply didn't want to make them. My food took over 15 minutes to get to me and I had to walk inside to get it because they forgot about me. The food wad cold and had to be remade. After being remade they got my order wrong and forgot my rolls. I didn't want the headache of trying to get the most incompetent group of employees on earth to fix it. I LOVE CHICKEN EXPRESS!!!!!!! This location serves great food every time I have gone. The staff and management are very friendly, efficient, and helpful. I usually get the Family Tenders w/ mashed potatoes and biscuits/rolls + gallon of unsweet tea. The tea is so good! I love when you guys have specials for the free gallon of tea. Sometimes the macaroni and cheese is a little watery. But otherwise I've had nothing but great experiences here. My family loves Chicken Express and we drive through weekly. But instead of talking about their food, I want to thank the Lakeway franchise for its ongoing support of the community. When our church has an event, we can call their management team and always get a donation of iced tea. It helps our programs tremendously because of the prep, labor, containers, etc. I know they do the same for other schools and non-profit organizations in our community. I ordered there mega meal, supposed to get rolls. When I got home no rolls. This is the 3rd time this has happened, I even told them that I had been missing the rolls in previous orders. I did call the store this time and let them know, and all the employee said was ok. Horrible customer service, not even an attempt to appease a customer. First time trying chicken express today. Had a mean craving for Popeyes (love those biscuits!) but the closest one is about 30 min away... Soooo, I figured this would be next best thing. It just ain't so! Now, first things first, I do not expect much when I hit up a drive-thru. After waiting for what felt like a century we finally got our food and headed off on our merry way. Got home saw a dinky little biscuit and I was immediately saddened. It was also soggy and covered in gravy that had spilled all over the bottom of my box. Gross. Next, took a bite of the so-called mashed potatoes. They reminded me of paste. I'm not picky with my potatoes. I make the envelope kind on a regular basis (of course I prefer the real deal!) but these did not cut it. Not edible at all. Finally, the chicken. While I realize that I ordered FRIED chicken what I didn't expect was to take home half the fryer grease along with it! There were actually puddles (yes, puddles!) of grease inside my chicken breast. My fingers were covered in grease and each piece dripped when picked up. Not appetizing. Not worth the $15 I shelled out for my 7 year old son and I to eat dinner. I gave this place two stars based on the sheer fact that I saw the manager hustling like crazy (I'm assuming it was the manager anyway)! They had a lot of cars pull up at once and got a little backed up. He was bringing drinks out to cars and taking payments that way as well as through the window. I was surprised that when it was my turn I didn't get a "thank you for your patience" or anything of the like but hey, I know they were trying their best and looked to be slammed. I'm pretty sure they try to take advantage of everyone who comes through the drive through (on which they have cameras and label the person who orders by the seat they sit in and the kind of car they drive...which I think is sort of weird. If I could give them zero stars I would. I placed an order on Uber eats. 2/3 were included in the sealed delivered bag. I called to notify business of their error and was met with a "ok well put your name on a receipt and we'll make another day we're gonna close" I said no I'm on my way now. I get there and they hand me a box with nothing I ordered because they don't even attempt to address their mistakes and accommodate me for my inconvenience. The young lady started me down and then once I checked the food and realized it still wasn't correct motioned with her hands for me to give her back the food. When I held on to it until she said what she wanted "she said give it here so they can put the green beans in it" . I've had another negative encounter with her ( being outside socializing with other coworkers taking orders and taking her time to get back to the refuting ring it up). The manager (Latino male) Aaron wasn't any better it. He basically wanted me to be on my way since they were closing. Piss poor service, no pride in the work ethic, and they lack common courtesy .
