*Important note: after this review was posted, the owner called me personally and inquired about how they could improve the service. He provided a $20 refund to reduce the original cost immediately after we discussed my review. Outstanding customer service! I called for emergency lockout services on Easter Sunday evening (11:00pm) due to being locked out of my apartment. The operator was helpful and promptly found a technician that could provide the service at my building. It took the technician about 10 mins to call me back with an ETA. The technician arrived in 15-20 minutes. I told the tech (Skyler) that I only locked the door knob lock (dead bolt didn't need to be serviced). It took him less than 5 minutes to unlock it (using little metal tools). Skyler was very professional and handled the lock skillfully. Services overall, were great. But, I felt as though I was way overcharged when he totaled the price to be $115. He knocked off $10 bc I mentioned I got their number from Yelp and the credit card service fee if I promised to write a review. Again, services were great, but the $40 service fee plus $65 house lockout fee, costing me a final $105, was a steep price to pay. read more

Tory was super helpful today, and we have 4 new locks! He explained the pros and cons of different models and his time/hardware estimate was accurate. Very pleased with the service and would recommend Chicago Locksmith to other Yelpers. Cheers! read more

I got locked out at 9pm after a long day at work (and 9 months pregnant). I called ChicAgo Locksmiths and was referred to Tony. Tony called me right back and told me he'd be there in 20-25 minutes. 20 minutes later, he was at my door and ready. We got in on the second try and I'm back home! These guys were fast, cheap, and nice. They really got me out of a bind. read more

This is a FANTASTIC company! My experience actually happened earlier today. I was moving stuff out of my apartment and of course I close my trunk with my keys inside. My normal reaction to things like this is that I get super upset and I break down. Haha oh well. Anyway, I googled local locksmiths and this company popped up. I gave them a call and the gentleman I talked to on the phone was very professional and friendly. He asked basic questions about where my car was located, phone number I could be reached at, etc. Within 5 minutes, I received a call from Stephen the locksmith, who was so nice on the phone and in person! He came within 15 minutes and had my car unlocked in no time. Overall this is a great company with a great staff. I would HIGHLY recommend this place. Keep up the great work! read more

Had lost the key to my car a month ago and given it was in a good parking spot and I didn't need to drive it, I did not worry about needing a key. Until...yesterday when I walked by it to see that the area would be turned into a tow zone as of today! I immediately googled the closest locksmith to me and found these guys. Robert came out to help me with my car and was very quick to both get into my car and make me two key copies on the spot! I was extremely grateful considering the threat of corona right now that he was willing to come out, help and do a fantastic job! I highly recommend to everyone! read more

My keys got locked in my apartment with my two dogs that desperately needed to go get outside. Our technician, Max, was not only friendly and professional, but very informative. He kept us in the loop with everything he was doing and was able to provide us with options. Max was patient with us and our decisions. His work was very thorough and well done. If you call Chicago Locksmith, call Max. He was great! read more

Friendly service - very helpful. They were able to cut my key when several other local place couldn't

I can't understimate how happy I was with the services that were provided by Chicago Locksmiths. I ended up purchasing a 3-flat in Avondale and at closing, I was handed a set of about 50 keys for the building. They came up with a schedme that dramatically reduced how many keys I have. One key that controls each unit as well as common areas. A master key for myself that allows access to everything. It was a rather long process as 20 locks needed to be changed, but Paul was really down to earth and worked through everything and made sure that all my locks and keys worked properly. They did an amazing job and would defintely be my go to for any more work with locks or things like that. read more

Walter was fast, professional and knowledgeable. He fixed our business door lock and replaced it quickly! Thank you! So grateful!

Needed a rare key made so I dropped in here at 5 o clock or so yesterday. I put an hour in my meter thinking I'd need some time, but they had me in and out in 3 minutes flat! They only charged me for a standard key too instead of the 10 dollars for the rarer key. Great place in a convenient location for anyone on the west side. Definitely adding them into my phone in case I need them in an emergency. read more

I locked my keys in the garage inside my car and didn't realize that I needed to get into the house. Luckily I had my cell phone. Since probably this was my first time I ever called a lock smith. I google locksmith in Chicago. Chicago locksmiths came up under Google with about 350 great reviews. I gave them a call and the lady told me the driver would call me in 5-10 mins which he did. Stephen called me saying he would be at my house in about 20-30 mins, came in that exact time. So Stephan was very friendly and customer service was superb! He said the service call was $40 plus $75 to open. He was able to get into my garage without damaging anything or replacing anything in about 5 mins. Since it was quick and easy he gave me $10 off. Which I appreciated his honesty and great work. So in total it was $105 for a dumb Monday even mistake. I was really satisfied on how quickly they were able to come to my house to help me and their friendliness that goes a long way! Thanks guys! read more

Gaby did a great job with opening my car so fast. It took only 10 min. Highly recommended. Best company

I got locked out of my apt, and needed a locksmith. I called two other locksmith companies one of which shouted at me the other charged me for talking to them for 5 minutes but chicago locksmith came through at the last minute and charged a super fair price. A huge thanks to Tory for coming over so quickly and a huge thanks to chicago locksmiths for being so understanding, fast, and efficient. read more

Great Keys and awesome service! There's not a better place to get keys in the city, and I've tried plenty. Awesome staff. 5/5 would return.

I just bought a condo in downtown Chicago and after searching for locksmiths I were convinced to go with Chicago Locksmiths based on all the good reviews so I called them up and scheduled the same day appointment. An hour and half before the scheduled time, the office called me telling that the technician will be half to an hour late, which was fine for me since my weekend hours were flexible. This shown a good communication! Tory, the technician, called and shown up at the original scheduled time since he wrapped out other appointments earlier than expected. Tory shown up on time, was very polite and genuine. I told him I want to re-key all the locks and possibly updating some old locks. Tory made an assessment and honestly told me I don't need to change any locks since they are still in good condition. We decided to just re-key all the locks. Unfortunately he had to take two old locks back to his office since they were old and he did not have equipment on-site to work with them. He explained there won't be any additional charges for travel since the price of re-key already included labor and promised to come back in an hour. Tory came back in an hour with re-keys of my old locks, installed, and completed quickly. My final bill as follows: $40 service charge, $35 rekey for standard lock (one previous owner bought at Home Depot) $65 for each OLD lock rekey (15+ year old locks) $6 for extra four keys and 20% off as a new home owner. What a deal! TIP: if you are new customer, ask for 10% discount If you are new home owner ask for 20% discount. read more

Fast and quick service, gave me some great tips on how to save money on a car key duplicate.

Mike was great! Came quickly and was in and out. My key is finally working well. Very happy.

I went to Chicago locksmith this morning to get a couple to keep keys made. I was in and out in under 10 minutes. Parking out front. Extremely accessible, professional and friendly people serving me. It's specialized businesses like these that keep the economy running and while Home Depot might be around the corner I highly suggest it's worth that extra three minute drive to 2048 N. Milwaukee to support professionals. Also I have high expectations that the keys will actually work when I put them in my lock as opposed to an experience with the big box stores and having to go back in to fix the problem they created. read more

I locked myself out of my apartment this afternoon and called Chicago Locksmith when I was told my apartment building would not help. Not only were Tory and John at my apartment within twenty minutes but I they had the door open instantly and during the winter in Chicago that means a lot! Stephen is the best. Fast, efficient, and super friendly. Definitely ask for him if you can!

I was VERY happy with the service I received from Chicago Locksmiths. When I called their company after locking myself out of my car, they told me it would be a 15 minute wait - which sounded pretty good. (Another company which I had called first had said 45 minutes & I ain't got time for that.) The locksmith, Stephen, arrived promptly in exactly 15 minutes. He got my car open in less than two minutes, filled out my paperwork, and I was good to go. The whole ordeal, from the moment I realized I had locked myself out to the moment I was happily back behind the wheel, only lasted 25 minutes tops. Stephen was friendly and helpful and didn't make me feel like any more of an idiot then I actually am. Thanks Stephen! The total cost (with a 10% Yelp discount) came in at $103.50 - over $30 less then the other company had told me. If you are a dummy who locks yourself out of the car, like I do, call Chicago Locksmiths. read more

I took my dog for a walk and came home to find the lock on the only door to our apartment broken. I was stuck outside, and my girlfriend was stuck inside. Perfect. I called Chicago Licksmiths. I had issues with my key and deadbolt after just moving into my new place. Stephen with Chicago Locksmiths was great! He showed up exactly when he estimated and explained what he was doing. It was so easy! read more

Stephen (Steven?) was GREAT, as was the phone dispatch! I reached out to Chicago Locksmiths forEVER ago. They called me back & left a voicemail on May 1st. I *finally* called back today & they still had my request on record! I was all set to make an appointment but they were able to send Stephen out pretty much right away: I called at 11:38am & had my spare key at 12:45pm. Stephen was also thorough enough to explain that I did have another, more expensive option but that the more affordable key would do everything except remote entry & is good for valet [and I would add, mechanic, purposes.] He also allayed my concern about potentially needing to replace the remote fob in the future. Really great service! I mentioned that I found them on here and got the 10% discount, though I realized afterward that I'd forgotten that they also have a student discount (see their website). Seeing how my job just announced a summer shutdown, that extra 5% off would really have been helpful... This doesn't change the fact that service was efficient & pleasant! Highly recommended. read more

After a rather rough night of being armed at gunpoint and having my keys stolen from me right in front of my house, Chicago Locksmiths came to the rescue. Our locksmith, Chris U. came in under an hour and was able to get my car open to get my spare set of keys, as well as re-keying all the doors on our apartment. He was fast and friendly. I submitted a job from their website, and was shocked to receive a call back 5 minutes later (it was 10pm), to schedule an appointment.
