The best Chinese cuisine in town. Cozy place, friendly staff (mandarin and cantonese speakers), and very delicious foods. I went there repeatedly and love this place so much!!

Surprisingly good! It looks like a typical strip mall American Chinese restaurant, replete of soy sauce and oil, fried rangoons and wonton soup, but although you can get those if you want, their other menu items ("Hong Kong Style" section) and house specials make it stand out from the typical stereotyped fare. We enjoyed a really good salt and pepper squid (with bits of fried garlic dusted over it which added a new dimension to the dish); a savory and different char siu roast pork fried rice; and a solid beef with cashews. It's decor is nothing to write home about, but the proprietress is kind and cheerful, and the food is good. We noted the restaurant has a strong take-out business; table seating and wait-service is available but somewhat limited.

    Big table for groups

We ordered beef fried Hor fun, chicken with egg porridge, fried string beans and shrimp fried rice. And we added an extra spicy General Tsp chicken to go. The fried rice is the best dish.

First time getting takeout at Chef Lau and I'm so glad I did! The food is delicious and fresh. Their milk tea is my new favorite. I was hooked after the first sip. The service was fast, friendly, and helpful. This is definitely one of my new favorite spots. Highly recommend!

They have new menu and pre order menu! Their Zhudu soup is pretty good! Stir-fried Niuhe, I think it's best in Amherst!

    Two dishes in trash. Uneaten.

We ate here twice. Odd flavors. Today, we took a few bites of two separate dishes. Threw them both out.

Everything is made fresh to order from the thick, hand-pulled noodles, dumplings, and scallion pancakes. Ordering is quick and casual. You place your order at the back right counter when you walk in (for dine-in or takeout), and the cashier also acts as your server. If you order a noodle soup, they'll ask if you want green onions and/or cilantro. After that, just grab any open table and relax. We ordered a variety of dishes. Appetizers: Scallion pancakes: (3/5) nice crispy pancakes with scallions. Dumplings with pork and leeks: (3/5) tender dumplings filled with pork and some leeks Spicy stewed beef noodle soup: (4/5) thick hand pulled noodles in a savory broth topped with vegetables like bok choy and mushroom and some tender beef Hot and sour vermicelli soup: (4/5) very tangy savory broth with tender vermicelli noodle and ground pork. Medium spicy level Biang Biang noodles with pork: (4/5) their signature hand-pulled noodles are sautéed in a medium spicy sauce with pork. Overall this place hits the spot for an authentic Chinese meal without the glitz and glamour.

Turns out, that was a very apt description. We arrived and got seated at a table with a very nice curved window view. I can imagine being here on a rainy or snowy day and getting to be surrounded by the weather while not having to get wet. The service was friendly, if mostly absent, and fast. This place mostly loses stars on the food. We had: wonton soup, miso soup, scallion pancakes, crab rangoons, happy family, tangerine chicken, and asparagus and snap peas with shrimp. The wonton soup seemed to be a beef broth soup, interesting change up from any wonton soup I've had before, a little salty and good wontons. The miso soup was also a good miso. The crab rangoons were too sweet and the wrapper too thick, thus making it chewy, but at least you could tell there was something in there beyond just cream cheese. The hunt for good crab rangoons continues. The scallion pancakes were very thick, but at least not greasy. The sauce was punchy and pleasant. The asparagus and snap peas with shrimp was positioned as having a light flavor, and that was very accurate. Almost like they were steamed and then served, but you could see a sauce coating them. The happy family was coated in a brown sauce that didn't carry much flavor either, but nothing was wrong either. The tangerine chicken was listed as one spicy out of three, and I'm happy to report they understand spicy rating. While the broccoli was chopped a tad large, the chicken was cooked very well, and you got just some spice on the back end with sweet on the front. Overall, nothing here was bad, but it also came across and middling. If you asked me to write this review a couple days from now I feel I'd have trouble remembering anything about this place except the window seat. I am willing to try some of the other aspects of the menu some time in the future, but I'm not sending anyone running here either.

Sidewalks were torn up but the place is hard to find with lack of signage. We were able to get seated right away, and looked through their digital menu. We got a smattering of dishes, wontons and dumplings, a sandwich and a ramen. Food came out in a reasonable wait time. We took pics and dug in. The 7 flavor dumpling was the star of the show. Light and thin dumpling wrapper, savory sweet sauce, plenty of filling. The pork dumplings were good, but the wrapper was thicker and denser. The twice cooked pork sandwich was pretty tasty, the pork needed to be more present compared to the veggies, but appreciated the crisp of the bread. The ramen had a good amount of braised beef and noodles. The broth needed a little doctoring to coax out some of the more savory notes. Broth needed more aggressive seasoning though. The price was not too bad for the area. It's kind of like dim sum, where you get a small plate for the price but it's all shareable and the flavors are good. It's not very well lit, gave the place a very dark air about it. But as a restaurant, it's pretty good. The spicy beef ramen was really good, but the broth was oily and too thin for our liking. We added some soy and asked for some hoisin - which made a big difference. Sapporo Premium Beer is Japan's oldest beer brand, founded in Hokkaido in 1876 by brewer Seibei Nakagawa. Known for a crisp, refined taste with a clean, dry finish, it is a pilsner-style lager (roughly 4.7-5.2% ABV) frequently packaged in iconic silver cans. It pairs well with Japanese food and is known for its high-quality ingredients and brewing standards. It was founded in 1876 during Japan's Meiji-era modernization in Hokkaido, it is the nation's first and oldest beer. The world headquarters of Sapporo Breweries is in Ebisu, Shibuya, Tokyo, and it also operates a renowned museum in Sapporo. As for taste, it's a golden-colored, light-to-medium-bodied lager with mild bitterness, a subtle sweet malt aroma, and a sharp finish.. While technically a Japanese beer, many cans sold in the U.S. are brewed in places like Escondido, California, and Richmond, Virginia, Key products include Sapporo Premium Lager, Sapporo Black, and Yebisu. This is THE beer to have with this cuisine (Chengdu or Szechuan). This is good! It's ice cold too! For our appetizers, we are having the Steamed Vegetable Dumplings and Spicy Flavored Jelly Noodles which are dressed in scallions, ginger, garlic, celery and cilantro. These are good! They come with soy sauce. The noodles are made from mong beans. Mung beans (Vigna radiata) are small, green legumes native to India, widely cultivated in Asia, and known as green gram or moong bean. They are a highly nutritious, versatile ingredient, rich in protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, used in both savory dishes (soups, curries, noodles) and sweet desserts, often sprouted for increased nutritional value. Mung beans are easy to cook, require little to no presoaking, and offer health benefits like antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I am also having the Seafood Hot and Sour Soup (small size). This seafood soup is good! Not too spicy! It's similar to the standard Chinese hot and sour soup in taste. For my entree, i'm having the Sliced Chicken with Crunchy Rice. This is made with chicken slices, crunchy rice, black fungus, ginger, scallions, garlic, pickled chili peppers, lettuce and pea sprouts. They fold the crispy rice and put it on top. This is piping hot! Spicy too! For dessert, we are having a Chocolate Truffle (made with Zabione cream center surrounded by chocolate gelato and caramelized hazelnuts topped with cocoa powder), Cappuccino Truffle (made with cappuccino gelato with a heart of espresso covered with coffee flavored merinique sprinkles) and Capps Pistachio (custard gelato swirled with chocolate and pistachio gelato ago topped with praline pistachios). Zabaione (or zabaglione) is a classic Italian dessert made from whipped egg yolks, sugar, and sweet wine (traditionally Marsala) cooked gently over a double boiler until light, foamy, and custard-like. It can be served warm as a sauce over fruit or cookies, or chilled as a standalone dessert, often garnished with berries or biscotti. The name comes from the Venetian word for "whipped," reflecting its airy texture. These are absolutely great!

Shu had an interesting market niche. The space will reopen as a Wokcraft, the latest version of An Asian restaurant at this location.

Did you ever cook rice and forget to salt it before you cooked it?…read more I went to Shu Express today, as I was craving some Sichuan cuisine, that had a little kick to it. So as I pulled into the Walmart-Big Y Plaza in Avon. I parked almost right in front of the little restaurant just to the left of Five Guys and the haircut place. After hearing how delicious lunch specials were, I decided to get one, and the owner/order taker informed me that because this is a holiday no lunch specials. I was ready to walk out. Then, after looking at the prices, I was double ready to walk out. But because of the trooper that I am, I ordered the Yangzhou fried rice. The order arrived, and it just didn't look right; but that's OK; I'm a trooper. The fried rice was missing corn and scallions, a staple to this Szechuan dish. As I dug in, it hit me immediately. There was no flavor. The rice had zip for flavor. The shrimp were not seasoned. The diced pork looked old, the beans sprouts looked OK, the peas looked fresh, and the mushrooms were warm, , but not cooked. This dish lacked flavor. It was almost like it tasted like water. I brought the dish back and asked if there was some type of sauce that could put on this dish, and the owner got pissed at me. Copped a real attitude. He gave me three little soy sauce packets and sent me on my way. How this restaurant earned 4 1/2 to 5 stars is beyond me. Yes, parking was great, yes, the place was spotless, but the food tasted like a dieters choice that you would order a Chinese restaurant like steamed broccoli with white rice. Flavorless and disappointing. Plus it wasn't cheap at $16 with a soda. Will I be back to this location to retry it? Nope With so many new locations popping up in Avon on Route 44, I'll spend my money elsewhere, trying new things. I'm just really disappointed in this place and the owner. Perhaps he should take a refresher course on customer service, and allow lunch specials on holidays. This place was not busy at all and I was there at lunchtime. I just don't see this place lasting.
